For those ppl who have found the book ( still hate you all ) did you find it in speed runs or full *(kill'em all)*runs?
I heard some ppl sayin' that you might get a chance of spawn random kats by killing random mobs ._.
Like killing a zambie and PUF 4-5 kats spawns.And one of those kats can be BK.( a very very very small chance as always but still..a chance )
I did 15 full runs and not even 1 BK or weird kat spawn form random mobs.
Are there more chances for BK or BoDR if you wipe out the map of mobs?
And did you got your book from Missions likes 8-1, 9-2 or Arcade?
Did you got it by goin' solo? Or in a party?
Got bored after 300+ runs and i want to try something new...if not, i'll get back to spam rage grind.
Random questions 'bout BoDR.
Nope. I'm sure there is some non-randomness to the randomness, but it is just a matter of running the right experiment to find out what all isn't random.
I believe that only certain kats can change into black kats.
Run scarlet fortress depth types as many times as I have, and you would think the same. I've only found a mewcat and one black kat (from a random monster box) on the second depth of Occurrence at Owlite Keep.
I can't tell you which kats won't change into black kats anywhere... but scarlet fortress depths (cept for grim gallery) do not have the same chances as candlestick keeps.
I was speedrunning weight of darkness in a party of three on elite. Just running through the map and lighting specific candles that spawn kats is the way to go. We were averaging id say...about 1 min 30 sec per floor.
Interesting. Thanks guys (:
@Skepticraven
Well i kinda feel that too.
Scarlets have buttload of kats even more than a CSK level, yet there's a smaller chance of BK. I did like 5 runs, with an averege of 25-30 kats and no BK.
I think scarlets have a "debuff" when it comes to BK. That might mean the mission ones have that debuff too ( WoD, AitD ). I dunno but i think CSK from Arcade got more BK than mission ones. I didn't tried yet.
Either this or RNG is just trolling around with me for 5 days.
And this RNG is more like "Random Nothing Generator" for the past 2 days ._.
Well...we still have 1 week so let's hope for the best.
I'm starting to wonder if Stratum 6 has more chances to drop the book than stratum 5, which in this case would make WoD a less effective way to farm the book? Someone told me that, and somehow it does make sense, 5* mats on D19 are pretty rare.
I ran Alone in the Dark and killed over 90 black kats there this event, and then decided to run Weight of Darkness and the first black kat I encountered dropped a book of dark rituals.
.______.
It all depends on what you like to run. Alone in the Dark will net you more overall income from the things you do kill and the boxes you open, while also giving you a chance at getting a true love locket if a love puppy is to spawn. This level has more risk though, as you are at a lower depth and are dealing with shock-themed enemies. Weight of Darkness will be friendlier with its status (poison), but it will net less income from what you do kill.
@Holy-Crab
I don't know of anyone that has done drop rates for materials separated by star and stratum. That being said, the book itself may not even follow convention and could be dropped the most common in S1. (I find it unlikely, but not impossible.) The most common reports are WoD and AitD because that is where the majority of people are farming.
BoDR drops very rarely from Black Kats, anything that people claim "helps" are just superstitious, it's purely RNG. If you learn all of the spawns in Candlestick Keep you don't really need to kill anything, just make sure you light certain candles etc
I got mine playing Alone in the Dark solo on elite while speedrunning/not killing anything that I didn't NEED to kill. I'd also played four hours without seeing a single Black Kat before that.
