After contemplating long and hard we formed an official top 50 ranked players in Spiral Knights. The List is made by players for players. The current List is based on feedback from the community so obviously not all ranks are correct 'yet'. When fights move along and the strong players keep winning The List will gradually shape into the actual rankings.

Rules:

-If you want to take someone's rank you have to beat them best 5 out of 9 in a 1v1 if the players are from the same server.
-If the players are from diferent servers the 1v1 are to the best 2 out of 3 in each server.
-You can only challenge up to 2 ranks above you, and 1 rank if you are in top 5.
-You can only challenge up the player above you if you are in top 10 of both servers.
-The challenged has 96 hours from the moment the challenge is thrown to play with the challenger, otherwise he's given a loss.
-In the top 10, the challenged has 72 hours from the moment the challenge is thrown to play the challenger.
-You can't use AT in the 1v1.
-Everyone must record and show AT and toggle off at the start of the video.
-If you don't have a decent computer you can record with a phone or a camera.
-To show the AT and toggle off you should do the same that Illu does in his video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=He4wJGDiqpY
-You must upload your video.
-If someone is caught using AT (or having AT/toggle on in the video) he/she will be banned from The List for a week.
-All the 1v1 must have a judge.
-Only the listholders can be judges.
-If you lose you can't challenge another player for 96 hours and you can't challenge the same player for a week.
-If you win against another player after your loss you can start challenging again.
-If you wanna join one of the lists you must challenge and beat the #20.
-If you wanna make a challenge you must send a mail to a listholder and to the player that you wanna challenge or post his challenge here.
-You can join the 2 rankings with the same account, but you can't use more than 1 account for each ranking.
-You can use all the map outside the base but you can't use the stuff that is there (snowballs, traps, healthpads...)
-Only the 2 players and the listholders can be in the game.
-If you are inactive for 3 months you are out of the rankings.
-Some rules can be modified if the listholders agree.

One flaw though is the fact that there are differences in the gear each player uses. Now if you made a person use the same gear as his or her's opponent then rankings would come out less biased because each math would be based of pure skill.

I most certainly disagree. I find the Eu playerbase to have a very big supply of skilled players who really know how to play, while the US playerbase feels like it consists of more people blindly shooting their Polarises and comboing their swords. Anyway, I'd say the list is very unbiased, despite the original composers of the list being European - 24 on the list are EU, 26 are US.

Ya I agree with Krakbob. As a whole, the EU community is better to fight in.. and since most of the come to play in US when their server is dead, they've had to learn how to fight well on both servers. Theirillusion does have some nice mindgames, so I'm not surprised he's top - along with the rest of them!

I'll do my best to answer challenges, but even if I give a challenge my time to SK is only during certain times of the day which aren't really up for negotiation. Family comes way before this lil hobby :)

We didn't include Hadn in the list because he isn't very active in LD now, and he never wanted to do 1v1 or join tourneys. As I said 12345 times before These are ranks based on community feedback and aren't factual yet. If Hadn wants an spot he has to win it. All the players in the top 10 are players who have played some 1v1 and have video prove of it.

I think the US playerbase is more skilled (as in more skilled players, which leads to me believe that most of the top players are from there), mainly because the US playerbase is at least twice as big (probably 3 times as big.)

Krakob, I don't really care about the people who are 30-50 -- those are mostly prejudice.

ALSO, most importantly, you need to understand that fighting is only half the battle to becoming an excellent Lockdown player.
Take Ezho, for example. He's not great at 1v1s (I can beat him 1v1 most of the time, and many players I know can as well), but I still think he's one of the 5 greatest players because of his teamwork. There is a hell of a lot of difference between being good at fighting and good at teamwork/winning, which is another reason I think this list is BS. It's talking about fighting only, when fighting is only half the battle in Lockdown.

That and listing people badly because they don't like doing your crappy 1v1 tournies--which take several months, IF they finish (which hasn't been a constant.)

so somebody with asi low or no asi beating you wouldn't count? they'd have to have full asi med set?
I'm pretty sure if everybody on this list was given asi med, they could beat you.

I'm top player with asi vh FF, asi high DA, asi VH gremlin low beast med valiance, and BKC with normal med shock low, shadowsun with freeze max shadow low.
if your gear doesn't match mine, you can't challenge me.

P.S. - All you need to be good is asi med
