There are a few rules that apply here that don't necessarily apply to the rest of the forums:
- Don't hijack someone else's thread.
Hijacking is where someone is getting help, and you post about your problem in their thread. We try to treat everyone's problem as unique, in no small part because subtle differences can make for a vastly different problem. 32-bit vs. 64-bit OS, even by the same publisher, can cause vastly varying problems, as an example. Please start your own thread rather than trying to say "I agree". If you KNOW your problem is similar, i.e. "I'm getting the exact same error in my log files!", feel free to pipe in, but understand if people are not willing to work too hard with you on your problem in someone else's thread. - Beware of page-stretching.
If asked to post a log, please use a site like pastebin to post the log, then link to them in your post. This keeps us from having to scroll through a 20-post-long error log to find the latest news, and makes scrolling through the whole system easier. - Post a resolution status in your title.
If your problem is resolved, please put [resolved] after the title in your thread. You can do this by clicking the [edit] button on the first post. This will help us decide if we need to spend more resources on a thread. If all that's left is simple thank-yous, we don't need fresh blood on the problem. - No name-calling.
This is one I don't see real often; the SK community is generally pretty well-spoken and we don't get a lot of rude people. Still, we don't want to start fights here. This actually goes for people helping to resolve problems, too, since name-calling does not resolve anything. ;) - Don't double-post.
If you haven't recieved an update in a while, use the [edit] button on your last post instead of posting two times in a row. The exception to this is bumping; if your thread has been ignored for over four days, you haven't had a response, and we're not waiting for information from you, post ONE message. This will bring your thread back up to the top.
