Winterfest Promotion: The gift box that keeps on gifting

Winterfest is a time for giving, we all know that.. so what if we made something of it? It wouldn't be hard.
1. You start with a special gift box, purchased from the supply depot for a good thousand energy, or perhaps acquired through some other means, a la tokens.
2.The box comes as being untradeable. When used, the box will gift itself to someone else IF it has been filled with between one and five items. The box will be sent to a random and active account of your language, and both parties will be informed of each other.
3.So this someone then opens the box. They cannot trade it to anyone else. Whenever they open the box, they receive the items inside of it as well as a copy of the box, with a chance fot the box to split in two.These new boxes can then be filled, and sent to further random individuals to continue the cycle.
4.Eventually, the box has split so many times that it degrades and ceases to function. This would happen after around 6 - 7 splits in the cycle- enough to end with 64 - 128 boxes in total, more if you count that it doesn't split every time. The boxes all evaporate after the event is over.
The act of sending these boxes grants several tokens towards a cool new winterfest reward. The number of tokens would be based on the value of the items within the box received, so if I sent you a combuster I would get more than if I sent you a material. The original sender would receive something extra for their trouble.
In this case, everyone wins.

I sense a disturbance.
Inb4 people put in ectodrops and take the prizes in the box and get themselves an aura.

You would get less coins out of you sent an ecto drop, and it would be a wasted opportunity. But you could.
This encourages community interaction, and I like it in general, though gifts are about giving out of your heart, so I wouldn't like having to put something more valuable in than the last if I'm later in the chain and want to participate in the festivities. equal to or greater, yes. Sounds similar to Secret Santa but not quite.
I'd say: You can't get the item out of the box unless you put something into the box and then press okay. Just to prevent selfish nonsense. *Indiana Jones Idol swapping action*
Different channel boxes could be a thing -
community box (for everyone active on your server language as you say)
-- Two different kinds. The greater splitter in your post - accept the mail within 12 hours to participate, if not, it vanishes out of your inbox and goes to someone else.
--other kind: equal to or greater item chain. Equivalent exchange. Same timer.
friend box (randomly sends to only friends list)
guild box (randomly sends to only guild list)
^ have fun partying with your own alts.
If boxes never get opened, the items go onto the Auction House, with the posting fee being already taken care of in part by the box cost...alternatively, the items just get returned with a sadface. The last box in the chain could always return to the person who sent the first, though that might take out of the spirit/intent of the festivities.
Reward: earn-your-own aura like with apocrea? Or something else? I think an aura would be fitting, since participation in this event is revealing of character, as are "auras" in real life. Or so people say.
