Tortodrone Disscussion

Post whatever here.

They resist every dmg except normal

Does anyone know that difficulty doesn't affect the dropping of Materials?

Yes it does... but in my opinion normal is still the best ( less sparks needed )

Just salvaged my old notes from the backup of my old blog. Hope they help.

Which is the best to craft first if this is your first Torto event (like it is for me), a gun or a shield?

@Spiral-Spy Thank-you so much, I was looking for that a while ago. Well, @Jmmoormann , you'll want to get a shield first, unless you want to dedicate to at least two guns. As shown in a youtube video, it's faster and more efficient to weapon switch between both tortoguns.

Im pretty disappointed that they didn't add any new items, Black kat event gets new things almost every time. I had 61 shells saved from the last migration in anticipation of maybe tordo armor, but no...... were just left with really bad gear. If you don't know the tordodrone gear are just novelty items to have, they are not that good.

Go for the piercing shield at least, as there really aren't any other shields with meaningful piercing resistance. The guns aren't all that great, especially with the gunner update all here.
Shadow shield is also pretty good, as devilites are a bit easier with stun resistance. It also makes a good silversap counter.

They resist all but Normal damage, and I think they're also susceptible to fire status. I'm dusting off the Pepperbox.

Iron Slug tears them a new one. It even stuns em!
EDIT* Also, I totally called it

Of course they wouldn't add torto armors, someone suggested them
P.s. I can confirm that iron slug works great

Does the Mega Tundrus work ok at all? I don't have an Iron Slug. I was thinking maybe Nitronome, Mega Tundrus or Blitz, and a pulsar for running around with (either gigawatt or blazing). Toss on a CoA since it has shock, normal, and shadow defense.

@Halandin: Against tortos, Callahan and Winter Grave is not as great as iron slug, I would know.
I think blitz is somewhat effective?
But I really don't care, been averaging 4 shells a run

I used my level 10 Mega Tundrus in a solo run on Normal and it worked very well, and the freeze chance with the charge attack is an excellent bonus because it can stop them in their tracks. An Iron Slug will prove more useful, in this case, but Callahan would be a big nope, unless you have one that is at least level 7.
My tips:
* Swordplay against them is very risky, as you'll be the most vulnerable to their melee attacks, especially their stunning ground stomp, which can hit multiple times and cripple you.
* Using a Needler is risky, although far less risky now than it was back then prior to the gunner update, but it can bring them down quickly. Just make sure you time your charges right, or you will end up far more miserable than you had expected to be.
* Brandish charges can be useful, but only the Combuster, Glacius, and the Obsidian Edge will prove to be the most reliable against them. I'm not sure how Acheron would fair up in the fight, but its lack of a useful status effect, despite the damage it can output, may be more tedious than powerful.
* Poisoning them is also a great way to soften them up, turning the Silkwings against them. Obsidian weaponry, a Blight Needle / Plague Needle, or the Venom Veiler will help accomplish this more reliable, though poison vials can be used, as well.
* Try to avoid shielding when they're launching their rock missiles, as you'll move slower and will be unable to escape the impact of the missiles, resulting in either your shield getting destroyed in seconds or a hasty death.
* Never "ragespark" during the fight. Never. NEVER. NEVER. This will often push away the Tortodrones, either out of another teammate's attack, into your teammates, or detonate the graviton or slime bomb blocks around you guys, thus resulting in swearing in your direction and very angry allies. While the damage bonus from sparking is a great thing, always clarify with your allies first (voice communication highly recommended) that you're going to revive yourself soon. This way, they can finish up what they're doing, stand clear as you revive, and then you can proceed to try and shatter their shells!
if Tortodrons are constructs, would a Grim Repeater be better than a Blitzneedle?
