change the bomb attack style

Is it possible for a knight to just click to place down a bomb and have that as a normal attack where you would have to reload after placing 2 or 3 bombs while also having a charged option which would do more damage and also have a bigger blast range in comparison to the normal attack?

I believe this would help very much bombs are just too slow in dealing damage when other weapons can do more damage in the time you place one bomb nerf the damage of bomb if you have to!!!(even though they've been nerfed enough in my opinion)

That is an amazingly simple and balanced. A regular attack places the bomb automatically in a much smaller exploding radius with a weaker attack damage and we might even take out any statuses the bomb might effect on the normal attack for normal bombs. The explosion would perform the same mechanic the bombs have now, except duration mechanics like the mist bomb or the suction bombs like the gravity bombs would have a shorten duration time.

While a charge attack does the normal attack bombs have now where the player does the full charge and would be considered a charge attack. The bomb would explode after the player does the charging animation and after the ignition time. The explosion would do the average damage unless specialized or resisted towards the target. It would also unleash 100% status chance instead of the partial we have right now. I say 100% because all other charge attacks on weapons usually has a very high or 100% infliction chance.

Again super nice suggestion. You deserve a gold star for creating this mechanic.

also this was sorta a thing ;n;, for anyone curious. I'm sure we'd work out a more advanced mechanic like what's being talked about, but yeah. I weep.

oh my god!

I can't believe sk already had this idea in the past where bombs can just be placed with no charge. This is already an idea that was in the works and this suggestion has just perfected it. And why does that old promotional video makes me want to play spiral knight more then i do now? Lol

Agreed! The deconstructor is identical to the gremlin bombers in appearance, same goes for heavy deconstructor, and my anchors dont work properly someone tell me how to make anchors work properly

I'm not a bomber myself, but imo one of the main reasons there are so few bombers is that bombs require planning and patience, and many players just prefer to be able to spam attacks, probably because it generally feels more satisfying than indirect, careful combat in an action game like SK.
That would make bombs much more interesting and action-oriented, easily encouraging many players to use them as their main weapons.
It would probably require a ton of programming and time from the devs though... maybe we can hope in a future bomber update.

That is a great idea! We can place a bomb down on the ground with a push of a button just like in Blast Network. That's easily make me more interested in bombs and bombing. I hope that will be part of the Bomber Update (if there will ever be one).

As Xigno said, I think it will take a lot of programming. But let's wait for the best.

what is your idea behind normal attacks?

is it because
-longer waiting time between button clicked the first time (starting to Charge) and delivering damage?
-the time you Need to get past blocks blocking the path?
-the time you need untill a Crystal is broken?
-the slowdown with most bombs while charging?
-less constant damage flow with most bombs?

I want to remember of one Suggestion that has been made in the past:
The normal attack of a bomb could be a simple 1 dmg push that gets created while rising the bomb when starting to Charge (thinking about the new catalyzer's normal shots). This will allow to get through blocks fast and you can actually compete in breaking crystals with your gunslinger friends.

For the other aspects I would say that bombs are meant to be the weapon with the widest area effects which gets traded by their slow attacks though (and by fast bombs get traded with their damage).

Yes, I remember reading that one and adding it to my collaborations of small suggestion thread.

It's semi-implemented now though with Shield Bashes and Battle Sprites.
