They come. They come.
Branches and twigs cut into your skin.
They run. They run.
Stumble, gasp, struggle to flee.
Closer, closer, closer still.
Bushes rustle that you did not pass.
They're here! Oh scrap!
Hands reach out to grab you.
Black wings envelop you.

Suddenly, you awaken on a patch of cold dirt. Friendly faces gaze down upon you and speak softly into your ears. You are safe.

For now.
__________

Welcome to Chapter 2 of Clockwork Heroes. The setting is Rescue Camp, where you will reside until leadership says otherwise. To all existing players, your first post should tell the story of how you got here, preferably from where you left off back in Chapter 1. To all new players, your first post should begin with walking up to Cherub and stating your name & party role.

The rules are the same as always, stated back on the Clockwork Heroes discussion thread. If you have any questions, feel free to post there.

Without further ado, let us begin!

A Wolver's Purpose

Den wandered around the rescue camp after having been rescued by Cherub. The condition of the knights ranged from unscathed to far less fortunate, but Den found it uncomfortable lingering around those that were usually occupying the medics for long.

There wasn't anything immediate to do, prompting Den to seek out instructions from someone.

Jumping down from the tree he was in, Amaria sighed as he cyphened through the channels. Of course the man didn't expect anything but small bursts people chatting trying to find one another till he came across one giving directions to a rescue camp.

Its worth a shot.

Once the Swordsmen's feet where firmly planted on the ground he pointed himself in the direction of the coordinates given. Thankfully it wasn't a long trip, but was one he was going to have to make alone.

[Inverted time skip away.]

Arriving at the perimeter of the camp the Swordsmen humbled himself to his normal calm quiet self after gaining entry. Walking over to one of the camp fires he took a seat and removed the top of his helm, letting his burning crimson eyes scan the area around him. Nothing much, just a normal camp for the knights, medic's going around checking wounds and peoples mental condition.

One came up to him, to which he just nodded and let the woman do her work. In silent he let the woman go to work stitching up some of the wounds on his face and arms from the crash.

Well, lovely. Nothing too deep but all of it just deep enough for more scars. I really hate this.

With a grim of pain at the woman's clearly nerves hands he closed his eyes trying to endure the pain, having refused the local anesthetic's in-favor of taking the pain to at least remind him he was alive and awake.

Stumbling.

Th-thump...thump thump thump thump...thump.

Aralon had never felt so naked in her life. For the first time in years, her feet touched real soil, real grass with her exposed toes; she felt every squelch as she stepped into opaque, muddied ponds formed by the accumulated dew, every gust of wind over her exposed neck and legs, caressing the marble-pale, stifled skin.

She was learning how to breathe fresh air again. Air without ash, without plagues. Without filters.

She registered, in her flight towards the artificial sun, the scent of flowers, the first she had ever smelled. Bulgy, knotted roots threatened to trip her, but she embraced the rough bark as a guide to the next leap, the next step. Her soles blistered and cried tears of painful joy; they had never enjoyed something without padding.

Her gelatinous friend was keeping her broken left arm in place. By allowing it to be enveloped in the goo, nothing like mud would contaminate it. Still, the bone jutting out was nevertheless an unnerving sight to see. Could it even be fixed at this point?

Aralon shuddered at the thought.

And so she ran and ran, her lungs never to tire, her legs the complete opposite. Finally, she saw ponds, broken frameworks...this was the place she had last been to before her capture.

Oh, how sweet were those bipedal figures, devoid of fur. Their eyes glowing just like hers...

~~~
To the other returning Knights, they'd see a young lady dressed in an oversized sweater, that of which was torn here and there to expose her incision-ladened midriff of pale marble. She was scratched all over; little rivulets dripped and mingled with her sweat, staining her toned thighs and calves with splashes of scarlet. Her black hair, slightly frayed more than it usually was, clinged to her tired face as half-drooped eyes with pink irises scanned her surroundings.
Aralon was not alone, however. There was this green mass enveloping her left arm, not a burned body like Serah. In her right hand, she was holding a hammer reaching just over her height. Wherever she had gone, it was not a pleasant trip, considering what kind of a mess she looked like.
Slowly, she tugged the sweater's hem a bit, covering her nude lower half. She lacked even her suit, the suit most all Isorans wore to support the armory on top. What exactly happened when she was gone?
Advancing to a new chapter
(( Uhmmm.. @Magmaul-Ace, I'm going to do the time skip until you return. If so happens, I will edit this post ))
Two knights arrived at the rescue camp. Their armor scarred, holed, and scratched. The body however, hasn't received a major injury or a fatal blow. Chael eyed the makeshift shelter– figuring the habitats of this planet – it will be wrecked at a full scale assult. Most of the knight are injured and sick. Some were... just unlucky. The image of the squashed knight flashed to him. "I'm going for a while Mundy.." The bomber left- or rather joined inside the rescue camp. As he walked moans and groans adorned the way. Even a jelly? Wait! Why the heck would they let a monster inside? Chael shook his head.
Heh- must be hallucinating, if not it would tore the knight next to it.
Without making a single remark he moved forward, looking for the leader of the group. This base need a serious make over, but how? Chael stopped his leg. He certainly hasn't think up to that far. His nose bridge got pinched by his own hands, and he closed both eyes while thumping the ground with the legs.
Bah, let's meet him first.
The bomber found Cherub, last time he checked he was the man in charge. "Excuse me, do you have a minute?" Chael gently poked the man's shoulder. "I have meet with the.. Inhabitans, of this planet. And with this kind of security I don't think we can protect the wounded when the time comes. Do we have any device or more manpower we can utilize on the lookout?" Not bothering for Cherub to answer, Chael just blabed about his worries.
Anya Tenevoski, bomber and hunter
A rustle could be heard from a nearby bush at the camp. Soon after, a knight came out the bush. Anya had somehow been separated from the rest of the knights, and had her microphone on her helmet broken rendering her incapable of talking to the others over voice coms. The knight, with a nearly broken helmet and scratched face, looked around camp for Cherub of whom she knew was in charge. She eventually found Cherub, but other knights were talking with him. The unfamiliar face decided to wait for her turn to speak, and as she did so, she brushed some of her long ice blue hair to the side, and checked on her weaponry. She peered at her not one- but two bombs.
Make the rounds.
Cherub watched as Den wandered aimlesdly around the camp. He walked up to Den and patted his shoulder, finding no words of comfort for his comrade. Soon, others began to arrive; Amaria was next, coming in with numerous nonlethal wounds. And if the nurse didn't have her hands full already, she'd have her work cut out for the next arrival.
Cherub had to swallow a surge of stomach fluid when he saw Aralon's condition. Their eyes met, and he looked away. Part of him wanted to hold her and tell her everything would be okay. Another part told him it was inappropriate and would inflict pain. In the end, he simply nodded to her as she passed and gestured to the nurse.
Then Chael and Mundy arrived, damaged but mostly unhurt. Chael nervously blabbed something about meeting the planet's inhabitants, so Cherub took his shoulder and replied, "Don't you worry about that. Go get some rest, and let the vets handle our defense."
Finally, one other knight approached. With remarkable ice-blue hair and clad in bomber armor, she looked both attractive and deadly. Better yet, she looked prepared to fight. Cherub waved her over. "Welcome to Rescue Camp. Say hi to some folks and come back to me when you're ready. I have work for you."
A starpod rolled down the road on four hastily-added wheels, going at a slow enough pace for a Knight to walk alongside it.
Ragnir let out a long sigh of relief at finally finding something resembling civilization. "Whew! You're a lifesaver, sis!"
"Hey, don't thank me, thank those map programs."
"No, no, don't sell yourself short!" Ragnir had tried to mount a rescue mission of Serah, but he was driven back by a whole bunch of those... dog turrets. There were simply too many to break through. Rega, his younger sister and a noncombatant, had hooked up the public Starpod's very limited comms network to an archive containing some DIY guides that allowed the two of them to jury-rig the barely-flightworthy Starpod as a makeshift tank.
Since then, they'd been trudging across this strange planet toward a large concentration of knights. The Starpod couldn't go too fast because the wheels couldn't handle high speed. Ragnir had to walk outside for half the journey to protect the tank from attack by robot zombies and... what was that one thing? Some kind of snowball devil?
Ragnir was cold and exhausted, and frankly, he was happy to see warm fires and actual sleeping bags. And so, he stumbled into camp, ignored everything, spotted an empty sleeping bag, fell down on top of it, and-
"Ragnir. That's an officer's sleeping bag." Rega had parked the Starpod tank, and was already walking about.
"...blaaah." Ragnir climbed to his feet. "Excuse me, gentlemen. Could any of you kindly point me to a place to lie down?"
Lying down?
Aralon was the second in a slowly growing line of sleeping bags, essentially the makeshift infirmary that did nothing to hide the masses of bloodied stumps, hastily-wrapped bandages, and so on and so forth. Aralon herself looked no different from the others as she leaned against the wall, instructing some blob to tear off part of her sleeves.
And so it did, with the precision to avoid her skin underneath. Aralon then stood up, asking the others for an anesthetic while the goop held the fragmented pieces of bone from her arm. A blessing for her...if she could find a trained medic. Otherwise, she'd leave it on, and who knew what could happen if she left it on for too long in that green mass...
...but once she spotted a few familiar Knights, they became targets for her inquiries too.
"Hey...was it Ra...Ragnir, right?" she asked, trying to look at his face straight through his helmet. "...I need an analgesic...something like morphine...I need it bad..."
Her eyes were bagged with fatigue, but they were wide with increasing desperation and fear. How many hours had passed since her arm was broken? Was her body already adjusting?
"I'm willing to go now, if you need me Cherub." She said, looking eager to fight with no sign of sleepiness on her face as she started to juggle her two bombs. "I can always say hello to the knights later, but fighting usually doesn't wait." she said with a smirk on her face.
Time to sleep!
"Hmm... If you say so. Just... watch your back alright?" Chael responded. Are the vets really able to handle things? They are Not trained to fight this kind of creature. What if those wolf like creature popped inside the camp? Or that gigantic lumber punding everybody to dust?. Chael just walked, passing a blue haired woman, tossing two bombs in her hand.
Ah, another bomber. Gotta keep a note at that
Not paying attention to his surrounding he keeps on walking forward. His mind wandered off to god knows where. Has he ever been like this before? "Cherub made some sense thought..." The bomber realized his lack of rest, even after the cryosleep. Sure health capsule releive injuries, but not fatigue, more over mental damage. He rested his back on a wrecked escape pod, a group of knight is surrounding a campfire nearby, chattering and treating each other. The knight lifted his helmet, revealing his strands of golden hair.
This is nice.. I just need to... ZzzZzz
He fell deep in slumbers instanly, not a big suprise.
Reaching into his pack after the medic had left him alone at the fire, Amaria pulled out a flask, from the look and sound it had barely been touched from the time it had been filled. Taking the screw-top off he slowly brought it to his lips, the smell of the fine whisky seemed to burn the Swordsmen's nose a little, but at least it was better then the now staled tea.
Slowly the liquid burned a trail down his throat, past the lungs, making a rather harsh hit to his gut as the liquid seemed to give him a little more vigor. Sadly enough he wasn't a drinker and even taking a small sip like that was enough to make him feel a little light headed, then again the feeling of the warmth radiating outward was nice.
Reaching into the back once more he pulled out the supplies he had stocked for the trip. From the left to right he had a E.M.R.K (Emergency Medical Response Kit) filled with enough medical supplies to patch himself up, a sharping stone for his sword, tea leaf's and seeds, his thermos, three throwing knifes, a field utensil kit, and flint and steel. Basic stuff outside of his armor and weapons. Most of the items in question where more fitted to a emergency response, like some one in mortal danger or having an extended stay in a harsh environment. Though this might qualify as an emergency.
Tucking all but the tea leafs away, and his cooking utensil's, Amaria went about making a pot of tea. If anything it would help calm his nerves from the stress of the day.
Ragnir turned around. "Whozawhaaa..." That voice was familiar. Why? Ragnir couldn't place it...
Wait! "Aralon!" Ragnir let out a sigh of relief. "You're OK! I tried to get to ya, but there were just too many turrets. My comlink broke, and I was forced to turn back... I thought the worst'd happened!" Taking another glance, Ragnir flinched. She wasn't in great shape. "Uh..."
"Big bro. She asked for morphine."
"Morphine?" Ragnir nodded. "Right! Is there any of that on the pod?"
"You got hit in the shoulder by a snowball devil thing. I would've told you about it."
"All right..." Ragnir forced himself to stay awake; Aralon's need was greater than his. I already let her down once. The least I can do is get some morphine.
"I'll go around and see what I can see. I'll let you know if I find an analgesic." Rega trotted off.
"Aye, you do that." Ragnir took a deep breath. This is going to embarrass you in front of the entire rescue camp.
Bah! To hell with embarrassment! Ragnir bellowed, "ANYONE GOT ANY MORPHINE?!"
Yo Rainier.
(OOC: Rainier, you can post your character app in the discussion thread, and just leave the in-character part. This here thread is purely for in-character role play. ^^)
Den, reassured by Cherub, decided to take the time to relax. He padded over to a fairly empty area, away from the din of the wounded and incapacitated. It was pretty pretty, Den thought, staring contentedly at the sky.
Medic to Aid
Taking the E.M.R.K in hand Amaria, in silent, walked in the direction of the knight. With no expression and his helm tucked under his left arm, the E.M.R.K in his right hand, the Swordsmen found himself before the shouting man. If impressions where anything then they might know the Iron Wolver armor, a sign of what he use to do for the Order back on there home planet.
A long bloody path leaving behind only the bodies of the slayed Morai high ranked officers and officials. Still even with this the Swordsmen presented himself before the hollering knight, ready to preform Emergency medical application. Going so far as the swat one of the medic's away from his E.M.R.K on his way to the yelling person.
If they need morphine then who ever this man is asking for help must be in a lot of pain. I will be the judge of that I guess. Better then sitting here and drinking away the memories of horrible swordsmen-ship and old lives.
Ragnir looked toward the swordsman. The smell of a potent liquor was fresh on his breath, but he wasn't staggering, so maybe he hadn't drank too much of it.
"Aye, right! Good to have you here." Ragnir pointed toward Aralon. "She asked for morphine or similar, and judgin' by..." Ragnir tried to think of a word that could describe just what might have happened to Aralon, but drew up a blank. He continued, "Judgin' by the way she's been hurt, she needs some." Ragnir took a glance at the impromptu medical bay. "It looks like there might be a lot more requests for it, too. Y'know where we can find any?"
Where was Serah? ...Ragnir didn't want to think about it. Serah was clearly marked as an officer. If they were this cruel to Aralon, what would they do to... Ragnir didn't want to think about it. He'd ask Aralon later. Or maybe Cherub. Maybe Mundy knew, he seemed sharp enough. Of course, he needed a functional comlink to do that. My kingdom for a new comlink!
Oh, ok.
(Right, thanks. I'll post my character's backstory there, then.
I RPed before, but I was never as good as the pros. I just used simple language, while they used super fancy and long stories. :P)
Nice to see a familiar face.
As Aralon lay drifting in and out of consciousness, another knight suddenly appeared carrying a medical bag. She seemed a little short and frail to be serving in the military, but she would just push up her glasses and essentially say 'screw you' to everyone's expectations. Once she got her sterile gloves on, she dropped to one knee at Aralon's side, took hold of the bone, and snapped it back into place. Then she zipped open the bag and administered a spray can of biofoam. The stuff poured over her shoulder and hardened; now the open wound would not only remain sterile, but regeneration would be easier.
The young woman brushed away strands of Aralon's hair and looked her over. "How are you feeling?" she asked.
__________
Cherub gave Anya a weak smile. "I'm glad you could come. I was beginning to think everyone arriving here would be incapacitated. We really need all the help we can get right now." He turned back and shouted, "Tenzhill!" One of the knights perked up and stood to attention. "Yes sir," came the gruff reply. Cherub said, "I'm going out. Protect the camp while I'm gone." The two exchanged a salute.
Cherub beckoned for Anya to follow and started for the forest. The crackle and chatter of Rescue Camp gradually faded as they moved deeper, and was eventually replaced with the snaps of leaves and twigs underneath their feet. The artificial moon pulled away the curtain of the night and breathed a measure of cheer over the forest. Great trees, unnatural as they were, left glimmering moonlit pathways for the two knights to follow.
But as the last remnants of yesterday drew to a close, so too did the light. A static chill crawled over Cherub's skin, followed by an unmistakable sense of dread. Every so often, he would raise one hand, and they'd stop suddenly. His eyes darted to and fro. Sometimes, things would rustle that they did not touch, so they'd crouch and stay deathly silent.
Suddenly, Anya noticed a glint in the corner of her eye.
Cherub had drawn his swords.
It only took her a moment to see what he saw.
The glaring eyes of the Black Beast.
"Not in shock anymore, not for a while...I don't think," Aralon replies, before pulling the blob of green goo off her shoulder with her right hand.
"This thing here...is an alien. An enemy of our enemies, from what I can collect. Smart enough to pick up our language through the enemies' translations; speaking of which, whoever brought us down here also managed to translate part of our language too. So for this one...just keep it safe. It's a research subject, so we might get an advantage if we can keep it alive and get some information out of it. Maybe it'll know where they took Serah. That green blob
"Hey, I have a name, you know!" the blob cried out. The woman recoiled in horror. "Wh-wh-what is that thing!?" she exclaimed. Fluid drained out of every pore and crevice in Aralon's armor and collected at her side, where it materialized around the blob to form a knight-sized (and knight-shaped) figure. "I am Ki- er, Pektin. Just Pektin. No titles or anything like that. Anyway! Who are you, young lady?"
The knight stood there in utter shock for a few more moments before stuttering, "M-my name is...um, Kora."
Drunk! Go home!
"Hey, I have a name, you know!" A shout broke through the bomber eardrums. He is fast to sleep but fast to be awaken. However, even his body is awake, the knight need 4-5 minutes to collect every bit of consciusness he lost. In that range of time, things could be a little... weird. Well, if you were his squadmates you would recall seing him tossing a bomb at a local herd animal- but the bomb bounced off, and backfired at him. And that kids, is how to get you hospitalized.
Chael stood up, but still lumping. He moved slowly like an undead, his eye still half opened. Lucky for the camp, his bag of goods (read: explosives) is not in his back– You don't want a bomb maniac to get drunk with it. The knight aproaches the jelly, laughing and moaning from time to time.
Then he leaped, and tried to take a bite at the alien.
Anya nodded. "It's no problem. Doing stupid things has helped me build up some resistance to being hurt." She watched as Cherub summoned a knight and told him to protect the camp. After they exchanged salutes, Cherub signaled Anya to follow, which she did, and they headed into the forest. The sounds of camp were quickly replaced by the snapping of twigs. They treaded carefully through the midnight paths.
Cherub help up a hand and stopped. This had been the 4th time he had stopped already. Anya, with a small look of concern on her face, asked, "You don't think something is... watching us?" Her question was soon answered as her eyes, with pupils colored a shade of blue as deep as the ocean, picked up on a red glare. The eyes of a beast. "That answers my question." she quickly whispered to Cherub. Her right hand gripped the parrying blade on her waist.
Nodding Amaria walked in the direction he was told of till he found the Knight in question currently being taken care of another. Placing the E.M.R.K away he waited in silence to see what would happen. Of course his hands loose and right hand resting on the hilt of his curved blade, to which rested across his back belt held by two straps. He was many things, but a fool he was not, for he knew from his many times in battle and outside of it. This was the perfect time to strike.
It seemed his time with the Wolf's unit has indeed taken its toll on his mind, but never his steady hand. Nodding at Aralon, the Swordsmen waited in for his time to administrate field medical treatment. Despite not being a doctor it was part of the Wolf unit's core to know basic and minor advanced healing for First Aid on the field. If needed he could pass for a seasoned field medic.
Woman got a good friendly visit with the enemy from the look of it. Damn, kinda feel bad for her. Still, just a runt compared to the Morai legions. I have a feeling her lack of respect for a blade caused this, fools.
Ragnir put his arm out in front of Chael to stop him from taking a bite out of Pektin. "Hoy, watch it! That's not a jelly roll!" Clearly someone was trying to drown their sorrows. Understandable, but it's not gonna help us much.
As Kora got to work, Ragnir let out a sigh of relief. "Whew, good timing. Aralo-"
Clunk! Something hit Ragnir on his head. It didn't hurt at all, but it was annoying. "Hey! Who threw that thing at..."
Ragnir's eyes then spotted 'that thing'. It was a comlink. With a note attached.
Ragnir read the note aloud. "Don't break this one, bro." Hey!
The comlink wasn't even dented by being thrown. It was a much better model than Ragnir's previous comlink, and there wasn't any residual damage from extended storage. Ragnir took a moment to reinstall the device on his helmet; almost immediately upon plugging it in, all his usual devices flickered back on. "Well, that's more like it."
Ragnir turned his attention back to Aralon. "Aralon, how'd ya get out of there? The turrets were enough to drive me back the way I entered."
Walking in front of Ragnir, holding his hand up in the air to silence him for a moment. The Swordsmen simply turned his head in a 'no' fashion to silence him. It was best to give the injured person time to heal instead of taking there energy away to talk. Reaching to his side he tossed his thermos to the man offering the soldier a drink to calm his nerves. It wasn't his flask which would have indeed taken the edge off, but tea instead.
Keeping his right hand on his blade at all times Amaria walked back to his spot waiting to take over should this Kora person need assistance. It wasn't the place of an Iron Wolf Unit to take over if the person is qualified to administrate aid.
Looking at Ragnir he tapped the side of his helm, noting at the comlink he just installed. He then made a finger gesture in the number's; 3 4 8 . 1 8 4. Tuning his own comm. unit into the same frequency he waited. Even though they where in a good, 'safe', place the Swordsmen never once gave up the old creed of making sure its secure before speaking.
Aralon scratched her head, before looking at Pektin.
"He told me to loosen a few wires here and there, and then trigger a power surge with a battery and...what he called a Force Dynamo and a Thunder Ball."
Aralon takes a stick, and draws what looked like a gear with a sphere in its center, and next to it a sort of gem.
"They don't behave like anything we've known so far, but from what I've experienced, they all lend themselves to mechanical energy. It's not incredibly advanced, but it's different from our technology. Have you seen Serah?"
Coming back.
The fight and flee was harsh, but hardly incapacitated Mundy and Chael from fighting. Arriving at the rescue camp, he realized how many other knights didnt share that stance. Finnaly settling down, the first thing Mundy did was get all that survival trash off his back, and into the Camp's depot.
Mundy Vakarian
Day 00002
-Location: Planet Cradle. Surface. Emergencial Spiral Order Camp (Rescue Camp)
-Chron. Landmarks: Nightfall. Will assume it's actualy nightfall and not an hologram of it, considering the amount of levels I had to go up to get here.
Approximately 1.6 days after Skylark escape.
-Condition: Nominal, but tired.
Seeing how my last entry ended, I'd consider taking this chance to un-say what I stated back then, but after waves of furred beasts and coloidal monstrosities, I'll have to keep true to what I mentioned. This Camp is in no way reinforced enough to handle half of what I saw while running to here. The wounded and supplies arent standing in metal plating, and could be attacked by these ground-burling... Wolvers. Not enough cover to funnel the Wolvers themselves, actualy.
Enough about my worries. Personal supplies reassingned to depot, that stupid Vitapod detached and given to the medical team. Geological and structural scans organized, native alien goop sent to medical as well. Speaking of goop, one of my "team", Aralon, came back with a severely broken arm and a jelly creature helping her, must keep an eye out for that. Armor repaired as much as possible, most robes got torn apart. Traded fabric remains from suit for a semi-destroyed Jelly Helm from another knight, will find a way to integrate jelly materials to armor later. Looking foward to that, as I will have an easier time getting stung by spike showers. Ate something, likely Wolver meat that a pair of strikers brought with them, tasted great.
But not a goddamn officer to report to.
Getting out of the tent he was in, Mundy looked around for Chael and soon found him trying to eat Aralon's alien friend, while some other familiar knight talked to her about her escape.
"Ragnir, Aralon, good to see you two still alive." he said while approaching slowly. The last time they were together he was carrying a load of ordinances, but now he was just his binoculars, Blaster, Magnus and armor. Without the Intel tubes on his back, his wings were openly visible, even with Mundy pulling them back as much as possible.
Looking at the Iron Wolf knight standing close to the group, Mundy tipped his Cap, or what was left of it, to the unknown.
"Swordsman."
Vakarian pulled Chael off the ground to give Aralon more breathing space.
"So, any word of the rest of our team? Also, where's Cherub?"
Yes, where is Cherub?
Cherub backed them away from the beast. He pointed his sword at it, stealing glances around him for possible escape routes while trying maintain a visual on the predator. "Anya..." he began, "...I think we need to-"
Just as Cherub glanced away, the beast was gone.
"-get out of here." He grabbed her wrist and started back down the path.
__________
Kora stood and saluted Vakarian. "Sir. Cherub went with a bomber named Anya to explore the surrounding forest. I don't recommend following them. A few knights have reported seeing Serah being carried by Aralon shortly after the Crash, and then later by gremlins, but no further news after that. Since they didn't kill her outright, I can only guess that they have plans for her. And for Aralon too; her shoulder wound definitely looked surgical."
A long, heavy sigh escaped her throat. She lifted her face to the midnight sky and shut her eyes. "This is going to be a long night, isn't it?" she commented.
Aralon muttered a "Yeah," with solemn softness, before gripping the hammer in her hand.
"I picked this up while escaping. Any idea what's it made out of?" she asks Kora, before rubbing at her shoulder. "A-and there's a wound on my shoulder too? I only noticed my arm..."
Anya backed up a little, as did Cherub. Anya took her hand off her blade and quickly moved it onto a bomb. "Anya... I think we need to-". The beast disappeared right before their eyes, leaving Anya a little baffled. "...get out of here.". She was about to agree but quickly the choice was taken. A small blush crossed her face as Cherub grabbed her wrist and they went back down the path to camp.
Meh
Chael got bumped to the ground. Still not quite there yet. Noises were just a mere hum right now, still better than his sleep walking (I guess). The knight gazed at the sky, it was like a painting– even though every sky known in this planet is a painting. It is a bit calm in his realm of dreams. Imagine a fluffy cloud sofa, with your favorite music on, and a grand art at your front? Nice isn't it?
The knight stood up, holding a hand in his forehead. He grunts, and could feel a minor pain in said location. Eyes widening in realizing the fact he isn't where he used to be. "I did that again didn't I?" He scraped some dust from his armor, his face is starting to warm up as he noticed the jelly like substance on his hand.
With heads down he equiped his helm back on. "Oh.. The gang is here. Pardon... whatever I just did." He checked all his bombs.
Oh good, I did not just murder the entire camp with bombs
Mundy shrugged at the news. Putting his hand close to his mouth toughtfully, he tried to disguise his worrying.
"So... she got captured. And with Aralon looking this sick it's likely a research team. Great. Valkyries allready have a bad historic with experimentations so far, I can only imagine what's happening with her. Thanks for the news, specialist."
Chael finnaly stoped spacing out.
"Oh.. The gang is here. Pardon for.... whatever I just did."
"Well, not much happened, except you almost had another inspired display of empirical research, with that alien slime." Mundy replied, while pointing at Aralon's gooey friend. "Wich reminds me, you should have reported to Medical about your ingestion of that slime goo back at the meteorite. I'm surprised you're not having a convulsion already, or something."
"Also, what did you drink while I was inside?"
And more DIALOGUES! LIKE A POST FULL OF EM,!
"Err... not sure. I don't think I had any drinks, execpt that slime you mentioned." Chael pointed at the 'alien' with his thumb. "Well, we got medics sure. But to know of any changes inside my disgestive system we need some equipment. Which we lack. No symtomps means no sickness.. right?" He laughed it off as he scrathes his head.
"Oh! Hey! Remember the pill earlier? Do we still have those at stock?" He snaped a finger. However thingking back, the medics would not bother using primitive method (( I mentioned primitive since we have energy revival ))and got their hands full. Still, somebody might forget that they have one, or at least he wished they had.
"Compleatly out of topic here, but does anybody know their way among chemistry? I have some ideas but not the advanced. You know, wanting these to go-" Chael lifted a poison vial and a fire vial, and gestured a blow "Don't wanna injure someone on the feild with it."
Nodding to the winged man, not that he really concerned himself with who was who at the moment, the Swordsmen just watched the group walk away. Not that speaking would have done much considering the fact the Wolf helm was a designed gas-mask to keep toxins out, he would have sounded like a Mushed mouth monster instead of a refined swordsmen, thus he kept his mouth quiet. Reaching to side side of helm, he hit the scan button trying to see if any of the men he once ran with where still alive and active.
With a heavy sigh he tuned back into channel 348.148, if anything else came up he kept a channel open just encase. Slowly he let his hand off the hilt of his curved blade. Looking like he was expecting an attack might not have presented the right image, even though his armor already represented who he was thanks to his armor.
In Tatters
Riddled with bullet holes, fiddled with many a slashes, and diddled with parts of her interior showing, Skyla dragged her feet forward, towards the Rescue Camp. One of her arms was hanging limp, imaginably by a few wires. Scrap parts taken from the Clockworks covered up some of the gaps; mainly to have the materials examined, with less weak spots as a bonus.
The Gremlin helm Lyra had stolen, (Along with most of the rest of the gremlin gear) hung loosely in Skyla's good hand, with a Flare stuck in it.
Slowly, at a steady pace, Skyla continued to trudge toward the camp.
"I dont think this camp has any resources to spare for your experiments, Chael. Specialy considering your "approach" on experimen-- what is that?!"
A wierd robotic creature suddently limped trough the Camp entrance. A bipedal construct, with one broken arm barely connected by a few wires, gears and foreing gizmos stuffed in holes and scratches of what seemed to have been its armor shell.Mundy was already pointing his Blaster at it.
"Watch out, it's a Retrode!!!"
...wait no, that's..
"Spirits, is that you, Skyla?" the knight said while putting his gun back down.
"Mundy!" Ragnir nodded toward Mundy. "Glad to have you back with-"
Ragnir stopped when Mundy pointed his blaster at the construct. "Another one?! All right, I'm gonna- Oh, wait! Skyla! Good to see ya back." Ragnir grinned. "That map came at the perfect time. I was able to find my way back!"
Ragnir nodded to the rest of the team. "Right. I'd chat a little longer, but my eyes are startin' to get heavy. I think I'd better go lie down. Know where I can find a spare sleeping bag?"
Skyla looked back and forth between the knights slowly, and then nodded.
The helm dropped out of her hand, and she collapsed not-sogracefully onto the ground.
A few seconds later, the machinery could be heard quieting down, with a few beeps to signal that Skyla had shut down.
"By the Pods, where theyre trying to make a campfire."
Ragnir went on his way, and two seconds later Skyla just fell flat on the floor. She seemed to have deactivated.
Mundy pointed his Blaster at her again.
"What the?" the knight froze, keeping all of his focus on Skyla's carcass
Last time someone fell down uncouncious after arriving from peril, he had a bomb rigged on him....
And with that trought in his head, he was stuck in this awnkward silence for a few moments.
"C-chael, see if she has a bomb in her. Quickly."
Okay
"You want me to dissect a robot?!.. Alright, I will check her chasis, not her 'inside'." Chael wisphered. He is a bomber. He plant bombs, not the other way around. They do receive basic of it back at Isora, but that is for timebombs and the standart isoran bombs. But Chael is Chael, if you got the idea, he got the determination to do it.
He walked to the broken robot. Inspected every bit of holes and slips, where bomb might reside. Sometimes it gets awkward since she has a human morfology– Or what is left of it.
Where would I put a bomb if I was the culprit...
He opened a panel in her back– quite forcefully.
(( I'm going to leave the "founding stuff" part to you @Liminori, don't wanna power play ))
Upon opening the back, and quite loudly, at that, Chael could see no bombs.
...However, there was an out of place looking part jury rigged on. It looked like Isoran tech, but nevertheless simply looked... Different.
Unlike everything else, the connections weren't as solid and perfect looking.
What was it?
OOC: to prevent thin from ninja'ing the answer... It's Lyra; AKA the other sentient program that has insane bloodlust for gremlins, and luckily not so much for knights.
Ragnir had already begun to walk off and look for somewhere to sleep, but turned around when he heard the clunk of Skyla falling over.
"...Sheesh. Everyone's coming in half-dead. Which isn't their fault, of course... Chael, you got this?"
What did that one swordsman want? Ragnir typed in the channel's address, but didn't connect just yet. Whatever he wants to say, he oughta just say it to my face. In the morning.
With a small nod to the group Amaria kept his comlink on, heading to a small fire near the permeter of the camp. He was in a since a sort of recon unit after all, made since he would keep watch for the night.
Taking his spot after navigating his way to a group of people who seemed intent on doing the same the swordsmen sat down looking at the rather heavy cuff on his right wrist, his personal way of keeping himself slow for others advantage. Sure it was a silly thing to do and it might lead to countless injuries along the way, but if thats what had to be done to keep himself in check then that's what he planned on doing.
Laying his right arm on his lap the Swordsmen started to fiddle with the seals in place to keep it locked to his arm. Well here we are, my families lovely little secret. Still trying to do whats right while not getting killed in the process. Still this isn't as bad as the time I had to kill the Morai high-command. Can't believe I made it out alive, let alone missed all most all of them.
Looking up at the sky the Iron Wolf unit crossed his legs and placed his arms into his lap, slowly nodding off the sleep in an alert state, almost a light sleep.
Maybe my dreams will offer escape from my madness...or maybe not...
Status Update
((Doing some mental storyboarding. Interim post here.))
Cherub didn't even look back. He just held Anya's wrist and ran. There would come a day when knights would speak of his courage when he met his end against the Black Beast. But it was not this day. There would come a day when women would swoon over how he guarded Anya from a legendary foe. But it was not this day.
This day, the two would live.
Together they raced through shrub and brush, tripped over root and branch, and pushed their way through the forest, thinking they were headed the way they came. But as the trees grew taller and thicker, it became increasingly obvious that they were nowhere near the forest's edge.
Eventually, they slowed to a stop next to a stream, where Cherub collapsed next to a rock to lay his head. "I think we're lost," he remarked with a frustrated sigh, having decided to play the role of Captain Obvious for a moment. "Think we'll get any reception here?"
__________
Kora treated Amaria next while the other knights chattered. She rubbed alcohol over the wounds before spreading a healing ointment over them. "You look worse than you are, I think," she whispered to him. "Keep an eye on that gash and let me know if it starts bleeding again."
Pektin, meanwhile, was busy huffing and puffing at the impudent knight who tried to eat him, growing angrier by the minute as he kept trying to speak and flail his arms in a vain attempt to express his displeasure. Fed up with being ignored, he threw up his arms and dropped back to Aralon's side.
"Ugh. Are all humans this irritating? No offense, I hope, 'cuz you're different, but you know what I mean."
After dashing through trees, bushes, and shrubs, and occasionally being pricked by a thorn, they arrived near a stream.
"Think we'll get any reception here?" Cherub asked.
Anya shrugged and replied, "Probably not, but worth a try.". She walked to the stream, cupped some water, and drank a sip. "My radio is broken, so I hope yours works."
Aralon patted Pektin's head softly, and sighed as she leaned on him.
"...not all of us are the same, or ever were. Just...most people with like minds came here. We left our families far away..."
She slid an arm around the goop's circumference, and leaned on it further. Her eyelids became droopy, and her breathing less ragged. She was tired, to say the least.
"...every person here is greater than the sum of our old parts. For that, I am glad. We soiled our planet long enough; the other race will either clean up our mistakes, or make them worse. It's no concern of mine. But here...I just hope this hostility isn't a permanent thing."
((For thin's post before I kinda had Amaria bug off. Also Thin, more greek here: Amaria. Have fun figuring out for it plays to this character's personality :P))
With a nod Amaria slipped his helm and coat back on. He wasn't a stranger to being under a doctor's needle, let alone under a light. Strangely he felt more flustered considering the fact it was on the battle field this time he was patched up, over nothing more then a laceration. keeping his eyes covered, no one really needing to see an Iron Wolf unit with Crimson eyes, might give off the wrong impression.
Well at least the medic's here are nice enough.
Keeping his helm off and hair down the Swordsmen slowly reached into his back and pulled out a small snack. Quietly he ate, the arm with the shackle on it feeling a tad heavier then it normally was.
