So i brought this up ages ago after they banned asia countries to play through steam, Now that theres a new group behind SK, any chances that people in asia will be able to play through steam again? I has a ton of stuff on my steam account. pweety pwease
Spiral knights Asia
im in hong kong, and i cant play thru steam, if someone could explain why there are some parts of asia get this treatment, that would be nice.
- "they banned asia countries to play through steam"

Erhm, not sure what you mean there. But for reference I was playing through Steam in Bangkok with no problems.
SteamDB says:
AllowPurchaseFromRestrictedCountries No
PurchaseRestrictedCountries
JP Japan
KR Korea, Republic of
TW Taiwan
CN China
HK Hong Kong
Presumably if you played via Steam before those restrictions were added, your Steam account would register the game as 'Owned'.
We are trying to get Valve to remove these restrictions.
Oh that's good news!
But on the topic of fixing things, you might want to take a look at that forum icon. It looks like you've got a huge pith nose poking through super fog of mystery... Or no, wait, it looks like a big angry thing. Hold up your icon has inspired me, give me like 30 minutes to draw up what I see.
EDIT: only took me 15 minutes because reasons. Here's my masterpiece fanart of our bearer of good news. Is it good or is it great, because I think it's probably the best fan art ever created.
That's probably the face I'll get once they see it...
Jesus thank you, its been a long time coming hot damn, ive tried finding other mmo to fill the hole but SK has the special thing that cant be replaced. Thanks again. (never would have thought the staff themselves would answer lmao)
@Fangel - Good job Fangel it looks fantastic, it also looks like a pig. Oink, Oink.
Please turn Fangel's artwork into a forum icon so that it can be my new face. I'm willing to pay for this.
Looks like Valve was able to remove them. Please let us know if you continue to run into problems.
Glad to hear it! Wouldn't be a bad thing to post on the steam Spiral Knights page too as an announcement, so all those players who were region locked know they can jump back into the game.

We're planning on adding it to our next announcement rather than having a separate one just for this item.
Oooh, sounds like a plan then.
If that's the case does that mean we can expect the "next announcement" relatively soon? No reason they should be left out of the casino fun... Everyone likes to be a bit slimey after all.
Yas the ban is removed, thanks for actually doing what u promised, i dont know how many times devs had failed to delive, Thanks again!, I shall delve into the crown farming hell once more lmao
Can someone explain to me what made them think banning an entire continent was a good idea? How do they justify that!?
I don't think it was either Valve's or OOO's fault that SK ended up banned in some countries. Some countries can get a bit weird about certain things, especially regarding some video games. Iirc there's one country that has Minecraft banned for some reason. o.O
Near SK's creation, there was an asian server owned by a company called gamecyber, or something similar. Asian countries were supposed to play on that server, however content released by OOO was released later on this server, and accounts made there were separate from the other SK servers. As time went on, less players played on it, and eventually gamecyber either shut down the server or went bankrupt themselves.
Basically, for several years certain countries were supposed to play on a different server owned by neither SEGA or OOO, but licensed to host the game. With that server being gone asian players should now be able to play on the NA and EU servers, but steam had region blocked them due to previous server existing. Now with old server being gone GH told steam to remove restrictions so we're all good now!
Hey... are we still getting Squinty eyes with $5.95?
What Fangel said is right.
OOO/SEGA had various deals over the years with Asian partners, although gamecyber is the only one that actually launched.
All those region restrictions were put in place because of business agreements.
Yes, but I'm surprised OOO/SEGA didn't remove those restrictions way before selling SK, seeing how GameCyber closed their franchise last year with advance notice...
Agreements do not simply go away. With that being said, we will not discuss details of our business agreements with SEGA/OOOs or any third parties.
Alright, thank you for acknowledging this. The GameCyber franchise had no real bearing on me, it just seemed strange is all.
You can still play through steam in asia?
Up until last month I was playing from Asia, on steam.
