Add a short wait time for Elevators to start

I just rage quit the game earlier today, because my long solo adventure to a Depth 28 arena ended in a Phantom knocking me back onto the elevator when the next level was a Deconstruction Zone.

That could've easily been avoided if the elevator didn't start as soon as you step on. This is a simple tweak I'm asking for that would keep us from getting completely screwed when something like that happens. Even if stuff like this doesn't happen very often, it's one of the most infuriating things in the game when it does, and it should never happen in the first place.

Since there's gonna be an impatient crowd that doesn't want to wait that long to move on, there could simply be a button to skip the wait time, which everyone in the party needs to click for it to work.

I hope that Phantom wound up in a Soul Jelly.

Would be a useful feature, sure. A "Descend" button or something similar to stepping onto one when your party members haven't yet and it asks you if you want to abandon them to be eaten by Wolvers. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly. So many Wolvers.

In any case it would be neat and prevent those rare but aggrivating issues like this one.

Isn't this attacking the wrong problem? Sure, getting attacked by an enemy in a map that has a nemesis infinitely haunting you sucks, but wouldn't it be so much better if having to wait up to 20 minutes in front of elevators was done away with?

Yes, but that would be a way bigger undertaking, probably covered in the Arcade Redux that Grey Havens may or may not have forgotten about by now.

This is just a quick fix to a problem that shouldn't exist, which would take next to no time at all for them to program and implement in the game, especially if they reuse graphics resources (like the window that shows up at subtowns if you go to the elevator without everyone else).

hmm

I mean, at this point deconstruction zones aren't as bad because of all the thwackers and that sweet sweet super rare darkfang shield drop chance.

But to be honest I agree with Zeddy - sure waiting by elevators and ending up on them unexpectedly sucks, but the reason we're waiting is because elevators change over time and we only really want one thing. I would rather us dump minerals (of the proper strata theme) into a deposit next to the elevator and either speed up the rotation time or flat out swap to the next item in the rotation. This would prevent endless waiting for the elevator to change, and prevent about 95% of all accidental elevator-activations.

I like Fangel's idea.

It's an awesome idea.

This already exists in the arcade mode, invite someone on one of the 3 safe havens in arcade. You step on the elevator and it prompts you to invite/continue. This will ALSO HELP (not solve entirely maybe...) w/ the glitch of people DASHING/SHIELD BASHING across the elevator at the end of a level to not follow the party down. It may be fun, but it is annoying to me. :|

@Raven-Tail: I actually do that sometimes, but it does look off-putting. It's been in the game since dashing and shield bashing got added.

@Fangel: I can barely even run D&N smoothly at this stage of the game, so getting 0.0001% chance drops isn't on my to-do list yet. I am glad that they have us acquire DF Shield and Regal Node Slime Wall the way they're supposed to be now, though. Were they even ever supposed to drop from boxes, or was that a fluke?

Anyway, I really like the idea you have here. But again, that would probably be part of a much bigger update to the Arcade, whenever that comes out. I made a thread about ideas for the Arcade Redux, like... thirteen months ago, and there were more threads by other people years before that. Compounds were supposed to be part one of a long series of updates to the Arcade, if you remember. That was almost three years ago.

Elevator delay is bad. That will annoy everyone.
