it's basically a challenge or like snap maps from DOOM 4.
You have a room with 30 zombies and you have to protect knights (NPCs) and you can only use certain weapons, Like: spike shower, umbra driver, ancient plate set. and you have a certain amount of time. and if the zombies hit the knights once you have to restart/quit.
And the zombies don't drop loot, you only get the loot/payout when you finish the mission.
And there can be certain difficulties just like normal missions.
and there could be achievements for it:
*finish 3 challenges on normal/advanced/elite difficulty.
*finish 3 challenges in the first try.
*finish 3 challenges without getting hit once.
It might not seem like a good idea because i'm not really good at explaining stuff, but feel free to edit me on some stuff or whatever.
There are a few ideas in here that I really like, namely the fixed gear aspect. The majority of players are too stuck on the brandish play style to ever try or craft anything new, and the whole radiant fire crystals thing doesn't help... handing those players a pepperbox or a slug or a cutter would be an awesome way of both creating challenge and letting players experience something new for a little while.
Protect the knight would be an interesting game mode as well, especially since the AI knight is fairly ignored most of the time. Since the knight follows you, it would be plausible to run protect-the-knight on just about any existing level as well.
