Right, yeah. The idea of player submission isn't very unheard of, but not sure if anyone has asked this:
So pretty much everyone who has played in the Clockworks a few times knows that the levels are basically puzzle pieces, right? No level is the exact same (except for some preset ones like Scarlet Fortress and.. whatever the other ones were called) and although there are many, it would be nice to see some other types of areas, some are starting to get WAY too generic. That's where this comes in. If the game has a "Design Mode" for Guild Halls, could the same system be utilized to create sections for levels? Allow for the placing of props, monster spawners, and probably some sort of puzzle to prevent progression until it's solved.
My point is what would really be neat is if you gave us new level assets and functions with some kind of level design mode (like Guild Design Mode), allowed us to submit it to some Steam Workshop-esque service, and either you or players can decide if it goes in or not. And there could be a problem with compatibility, but maybe this mode could have a compatibility checker to make sure that it functions with other level segments. For instance, if the player was unable to move from start to finish, then it couldn't work, or if the segment didn't coincide with a different segment, then it can't be used. It sounds a tad complex, but it could be a rather neat addition to spice up the Clockworks runs rather than let us see the same things.
Some players have asked for an ability to submit items into the game like Team Fortress 2 does, but this is one that actually could work if enough effort went into the system. We already have a Design Mode functionality, why not use it in a different way?
P.S:
Yeah. Grey Havens is mostly intent with keeping the game alive rather than giving it unique content, but the Suggestions forum is here for a reason, and I hope that you do at least read what we post. If you do, say hi. No need to comment on my idea, no need to say anything else, just post a little solitary hi.
P.P.S:
I said pee pee.
I've been an advocate for such a style of level editing for a while now. We already have room setups as is, so using even current rooms and rearranging how they work for more "alt versions" of the area would be a lot of fun. I also feel like if we could create custom scenario rooms, it would prove to be really neat!
And as for your PS, Grey Havens does read the suggestions subforum, but they try not to comment on stuff as it can alter/end discussion on the topic alongside add to a false hope or expectation that we will see said suggestion in the game. Doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated, but I can kinda understand why they don't comment in here.
