Trinkets and damage/speed bonuses were disabled?
Some additional questions:
- Do you think people would quit playing as Strikers and start playing Recon and Guardian?
- How do you think this would change the meta?
It would be more friendly for new people but in the end it wouldn't really help balance. And it would piss off the people with their LD sets and UVs. So in the end it probably wouldn't be good.
The people who play guardian and recon might have a little more advantage as they can survive an ambush. But I doubt anyone would quit striker, as it is the most fun (vroom zoooom)
More sealed sword combos, more salt, a few people would gun more. But not really much change imo.
Yes, it would be a lot better. Everyone will be on the same level. It is simply ridiculous that Lockdown is based off of wealth a player has. PvP should in no way represent the amount of time a player has dedicated to PvE (e.g. wealth, equipment etc.) especially if a player dislikes the PvE in this game. So not only should UVs and Trinkets be disabled, but armor and weapons in Lockdown should be free (and able to be chosen prior to a game). I feel like, to new players, this fact is very offputting. Lockdown is fun, but I just feel like PvE and wealth shouldn't be a deciding factor in one's play. Inflated P2W.
There could be something along the lines of "PvP loadouts" where players can select equipment during queue, in the PvP lobby, and in the lockers.
Of course, it would be recommended to have two separate modes: a free mode (what we have right now), and a competitive mode (my proposal).
Additionally, bombs could be buffed for PvP use only. They are simply underused right now.
And to answer your Q's:
• Everyone will still play Striker. Maybe even more players.
• The meta will definitely be altered if weapons become free and armor becomes free, because players will want to experiment constantly.
If AT didn't existed.
Lets be honest, if there was a LAN spot where we could hang out, have the same ping, enjoying pizza and skeeball, LD problems and hunger could be solved.
But eh, to answer you questions, would LD be better? I'd say eh.
~What would occur is a shift to status res sets if damage/attackspeed is not going to impact game play at all, oh hey, more bomb walkers, woo? (Bombers love it) Oh? Lets just take away those res bonuses, so now swordsmen are even at a larger disadvantage where they can't beat anything aside from themselves. Oh so we uh..? It could be my awfully pessimistic view on LD's hope or my distaste for change, but blind simple theory crafting will not often meet expectation in the slightest.(Sounded smart +2 for me)
~Striker would be more in demand, you have to realize, you're making slow classes play even slower, I might not speak for many but turtle wars is not quite that appealing, guards will be more open, recons will have a less poke kite style since they're open for much longer.
~None at all, it's like simplifying an equation, hey it looks cute and simple, still equal to the previous equation tho, everyone will be slower, equally as slow.
P.S. Like if there ever is a LAN LD party with skeeball and pizza, hmu. pls
P.S.S. Hai, am tired, this might look senseless or not, read with caution and take it with a grain of salt.
Trinkets/UVs are marginal issues.
Fact is, for all you hopeless people addicted to playing LD, it will never be great again. Polaris will always be there, blaster spam will always be there, BK sets will always be there, AT is on its hinges but is still there....too many issues, too few players to make major changes.
Basically, your only option in LD is to get a BK set like everyone else, because its stupidly high damage bonuses and freeze resist, combined with MSI for no good reason, makes all other sets essentially useless. From there, your only options are flourish/GF/acheron, and a blaster/polaris, because any other possibly interesting weapon (Striker swords, alchemers, winmillion, etc) is rendered useless by the aforementioned broken ones.
This is not the game's fault though. The game is PvE first, PvP second. And dealing with leftovers/sloppy seconds is beta AF.
