Could you please link to a copy of your project-x.log or old-projectx.log on a site like pastebin? This problem seems to show up most on the Steam copy of the game when there is a file that fails to download and extract and the log can pinpoint the problem.

Ok, the log points at three

Ok, the log points at three sound files missing. Putting them in their correct place should fix things right up. The entire time everything will be worked with inside "c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\spiral knights\rsrc".

  1. Go to full-rest-bundle.jar and open it using Winrar or 7-Zip.
  2. Inside open the folder "sound" and copy the entire folder "effect".
  3. Paste this folder into the sound folder found in rsrc.
  4. There should be an existing effect folder in there, select yes to replace all.

Try starting the game after that, it should work fine.

i have followed your steps and yet the problem remains. The game crashes and the message says Java Platform SE Binary is not responding. I appreciate the help though.

Still at the loading screen

Still at the loading screen eh? There's a lot more in that log file that I can't properly identify, though it does seem like the root is missing files. You could attempt to replace the entire rsrc folder from a copy from a game client you download from this site, as this problem seems exclusive to Steam.
