The Digest file is invalid
I'm having some issues getting this game going. When I try to play it in the browser I'm getting an error saying "We couldn't verify the application's digital signature" "Please check that you are launching the application from the correct website". Having failed to find a solution for this I tried downloading the installer instead, after installing and launching through the shortcut "play spiral knights" I get another error "The Digest file is invalid" is all it says with a 0% complete showing at the bottom of the window.
I have gone through the FAQ and searched the forum for each of these issues and found nothing. My computer is up to spec and I've configured my firewall to allow the apropriate traffic and tried with simply allowing everything for a bit to be on the safe side.
So what more can I do?
Happy to supply any other info that could be of use to clearing it up upon request.
Thank you
Confirming that you are not alone. The digest file is invalid and 0% complete.
Windows 7 Enterprise
Java 1.6 Update 24
Edit: I was able to play through the beginning tutorial and it would not go past the crash site so I reinstalled and get this error.
yeah its so annoying im really bored so i find a game to play then i find this one looks good so try to download it but no have to be bored forever
Can you all provide more information about your situations?
The current version of Java is version 6, Update 25. I suggest everyone uninstall old versions of Java just to be sure, and install the new version.
If something is wrong with your digest file, it might be that the game was not uninstalled properly and an old file was left. How have you installed Spiral Knights? Are you launching the game from your desktop or the website?
Hello, i too was getting the "Digest file is invalid" issue. I have found a work around that has worked so far. All i did was go to the installation folder and delete the "Digest.txt" and relaunch Spiral Knights. The folder should be "C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Three Rings Design\Spiral Knights." Hope this helps. =o)
Well when ever there's an update the games always give me those error 502 digest file invalid.
i have the same problem no matter if i run it from steam or by itself always stops and says "the digest file is invalid" before the game starts
i have the newest java (version 6 update 25)
Things is I got 2 version of SK the one that use Java Launcher from the web.And the one that use steam. Both got this error when the game is updated. After I get newer version of Java runtime the web version now work fine. But steam version still have the problem.
all my drivers and java etc. updated and everything ran great until this latest patch. Now i get "the digest file is invalid" EVERY time i run it with steam, and premature EOF if i try to run it in my browser. What did you do on this latest patch ?
Took me like, 2 hours to get it working earlier, played for 5 minutes, then the newest patch came out and I'm back to where I started.
Very frustrating.
This thread is almost 5 months old already, and the information here is outdated.
Please do not bump multiple old threads.
Since this is an old problem but a new patch, please start ONE new thread.
I kept getting the EOF problem. after 3 restarts i had the invalid Digest problem. after that i tryed the latest version of Java and still no results
Open this with your browser. (in a new tab)
http://download.threerings.net/spiral/client/getdown.txt
Copy the 'version' below the "# General Information" line (just the numbers)
and paste it in the space down this link...
http://download.threerings.net/spiral/___/digest.txt
After you've done all of that,
save BOTH files and overwrite the ones you have... (CTRL+S or File>Save Page as...)
That way, it will ALWAYS be the LATEST version.

I'll make a video later to those who are VERY confused. :D
Once you've updated both those files, you might still need to replace the version number in version.txt
Could someone test if you need to do that? I've had any confirmation that that is mandatory or not for fixing the problem.
No actually. Fixed it, but never touched version.txt..
Okay cool. Most of the people that have this issue also don't respond to questions people ask them, so it's been hard to figure things out. >_>
Yeah, I'm getting the exact same error as you. Did you ever figure out what the problem was?
