This might be a better idea.
Because I am just trying to help and reach my goal. I have never breaked any rule.
Untill people start to report me for recruiting by chat ?
I thought spamming is putting lines every 1 sec. While I did this every 1 min. Thats a big diffrence.
I don't get it every1 spams then becuz they try to sell their mats or goodies. its the same. so why don't they get a temp ban ?

I think the rules here in this game are to hard.
Many people spam, but I don't report them but this is how i get treated?

Spam is sending unwanted

Spam is sending unwanted messages, its common sense. Just because you don't report you shouldn't feel entitled do it yourself. Be happy you weren't permabanned. And no, the rules aren't too hard, they are just protective for everyone. So what was your complaint again?

Every 1 minute is just as bad as every second. If are in trade chat and spamming there about selling/buying thats a different story but not out loud for a guild recruitment.
They were selling mats and stuff, which is basically what you do as a merchant. Guild recruitment spamming though does get to be a bit much especially since its a 1 time thing. Quite a big decision if you 1. Made the guild 2. you are converting to a new guild 3. already in the dominating guilds a.k.a EoS AFK etc.

You should be happy that you weren't permabanned as Paweu said above. Also If you are suggesting a mute feature like an IGNORE BUTTONthen put this in the forums

Well they could be more

Well they could be more specific on their service and rules. This is what I heard by you guys.
THank you for the information its clear.

But I would be more happy if i knew this whole thing before so i wouldn't do it.

SPAM: Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages

I don't agree with this.

People shouldn't get banned for recruiting in-game.

I would rather people said they were recruiting for a guild than just send an invite to everyone in a 500 meter radius.
Especially considering most chat channels are optional to join, if you're using Global 1 or 2 every sixty seconds you shouldn't get banned for that.

Spam is sending unwanted messages

By that definition, you are spamming and should be permabanned.

I find this quite ridiculous.

I find this quite ridiculous. In EVERY MMO I've ever played I've never seen such an absolutely outlandish reason to ban. Using guild and friend chat every minute is most definitely not spam, nor should it ever be considered spam, nor HAS it ever been considered spam in my entire experience on the internet. Furtherly, the fact that the GMs even went forward with the reports is horrific and extremely concerning. I now feel quite glad I didn't spend a dime on this game so far. Perhaps I never will now that I understand that bans may be passed out on a whim. @Paweu He should be happy to not be perma-banned? Are you joking!?! Have any of you had experience with any other system of law in other games?

As a side note, mute buttons should most definitely be implemented. It helps solve certain problems with spam, harassment, and etc.

Wait hold on. You think "unwanted posts" constitutes spam? So, someone says something you don't like and you report them? Real nice. I see nothing wrong with recruiting in game - i'd understand if it was something offensive.

In any case, yes i belive a mute would've been more than fine

"By that definition, you are spamming and should be permabanned."
The difference is that you aren't the judge here with powers, meanwhile someone here got banned.

"@Paweu He should be happy to not be perma-banned? Are you joking!?! Have any of you had experience with any other system of law in other games?"
Wish-wash all you want, there are games in which you can get banned for silly stuff like speaking in other languages (here you are allowed to talking in whatever language you want, no discrimination) or region blocks. Sending and repeating the same message about stuff noone really cares about in a channel that isn't exactly for this is annoying. This game is supposed to be super friendly, no annoyment for the players, no harassment, etc. Also, i'm in /1 for the chat that sometimes occurs and not to see some desperate guy spam guild recruitment. I can go even further and say if you can't find members through normal methods then maybe you shouldn't even lead a guild?

Can you really see nothing wrong when a channel is filled with only one message repeated so many times?

Ban should be a last resort

I haven't been temporarily banned, but I can guess how it feels. I won't say that you weren't spamming, but I will agree that temporarily banning someone for spamming is a bit too harsh. A mute button would be great for the first warning or so, and then a ban if the problem persists.

I hope you never have to defend yourself in court.

The difference is that you aren't the judge here with powers, meanwhile someone here got banned.

Yes, and that person who got banned shouldn't have been punished so severely for sending messages to promote a guild.

there are games in which you can get banned for silly stuff like speaking in other languages (here you are allowed to talking in whatever language you want, no discrimination) or region blocks.

Those games often have localized versions of games for people who speak that language or come from that specific region.

Sending and repeating the same message about stuff noone really cares about

Everybody who uses /1 instead of PMs should be reported. Got it.

Also, i'm in /1 for the chat that sometimes occurs and not to see some desperate guy spam guild recruitment.

The best part about seeing somebody send messages, is that you can unsee them by ignoring them, instead of being a douche and reporting them.

I can go even further and say if you can't find members through normal methods then maybe you shouldn't even lead a guild?

What are normal methods, exactly, Mr. Guild Recruitment Expert?

Can you really see nothing wrong when a channel is filled with only one message repeated so many times?

If I ignore them, I actually can't see their messages. And I never will have to, ever again. Also, if they get muted, they would learn their lesson and still be able to enjoy the game, instead of, well, coming on the forums in being berated by morons who can't form coherent arguments.

Force of charisma and the formation of a unique sort of meta-community. At any rate it's a lot more endearing than

You could, uh, have friends

You could, uh, have friends and form a guild, like, together, but that might be a bit beyond the understanding of some.

I don't know why anyone'd go into the guild game as a solo act, personally.

Yeah, I don't see why people

Yeah, I don't see why people would report you for something like this. If I see somebody spamming a message that I find annoying or if somebody is constantly bothering me, I just ignore them. Problem solved. If there is a solution as simple as that, why report somebody? If you were spamming harrassments, I can see why you might get reported but recruiting for your guild? I've seen more annoying spam than guild recruitments.

Spamming Don't spam! - Use

Spamming
Don't spam! - Use the chat client sensibly, just like you would when talking to someone in person. Spamming is defined as repeatedly sending letters, messages or nonsense in a way that makes it difficult for other knights to communicate. Spamming is not acceptable in any form.

The ToS seems to give a good, clear definition of spam for this game. It isn't the use of /1 that makes it spam, it is the repeated nature of it. If I was crafting the ToS, I would have added "unsolicited" to the definition, but OOO's definition is good enough for me.

don't spam, and you won't get banned.

Doesn't sound like an infringement to me.

"Spam is sending unwanted messages, its common sense."

"Every 1 minute is just as bad as every second. If are in trade chat and spamming there about selling/buying thats a different story but not out loud for a guild recruitment."

You folks may want to read the rules again, as well as the message that comes up when you report someone for spamming. In this context, spam is to "7. disrupt the normal flow of dialogue, cause a screen to "scroll" faster than other members of the Services are able to type, or otherwise act in a manner that negatively affects other members' ability to engage in real time exchanges". A message every minute does not disrupt people from conversing, unless the message is excessively long. Furthermore, when you submit a complaint for spamming, the confirmation message reminds you to only file the complaint if "the spamming was so bad you couldn't chat with others," and specifically notes that "if the repeated lines were far between (like 10 seconds between) then it won't prevent people from chatting".

Obviously, I don't know the details. Irevolutioni may be leaving something important out, but what he described should not in itself result in a ban.

Obviously, I don't know the details. Irevolutioni may be leaving something important out,

that happens a lot in the "I WUZ BAND UNFARLY" threads... *sigh*

"7. disrupt the normal flow of dialogue, cause a screen to "scroll" faster than other members of the Services are able to type, or otherwise act in a manner that negatively affects other members' ability to engage in real time exchanges". A message every minute does not disrupt people from conversing,

one person using /1 or chat around the AH for trading/recruiting purposes once a minute instead of using /trade or the forum threads isn't a huge problem, 50 people doing that is. Your messages don't have to meet all the section 6.7, any of those things will be cause for banning. Being one of the many people "acting in a manner that negatively effects other members" may mean your individual negative effect isn't large, but that is still enough justify a temp ban.

OOO has provided lots of places for people to trade goods, promote their guilds, etc. without having to resort to annoying lots of people who aren't interested. Instead of the OP asking everyone else to mute them, maybe they should just be polite and not do annoying things.

As far as I can recall many

As far as I can recall many player including myself warned you explicitely in-game advertising a guild through /trade chat was against Terms Of Service yet you continued. So it might have just been deserved. Besides temporary bans are just something like a day or so, whatever.

U say that their are alot of places to advertise a guild ?
The only 1 I know is the Forums.
And not many players do use or don't even know about the forums.

I just tried to keep an active guild. Ment nothing wrong, and yet its unfair that I get temp ban.

Just sayin that A mute would be fine.
Because I'd like to play now. because its power surge.
It's just a ban in an unfair time.

I feel your pain bro i got a

I feel your pain bro i got a temp ban for supposedly spamming the chat window when i was selling a gold chapeaus because i was not aware of the channel /2 or /trade. manly because the game developers don't feel you need anything explained to you and you should know everything straight aware. honestly there near to no tutorial or help for new player just throw them to the shark's and hope they can swim!

Thank to my ban i am now using /2 for trading instead of /zone which everyone and there dog uses to trade in-game but i want anymore i learned my lesson. Still it was a little unfair to ban me, especially when everyone else is doing it and with out a warning i may add just instantly banned on the spot. they later told me after i complained about it that a temp ban is there way of warning you your braking the rules REALLY! =S

A mute would have been a much fairer punishment and would still let me play the game. All other MMORPGs do this why not spiral knight?

@ needing a mute option

Right click the player whom you do not wish to hear.
Then click Ignore.
CONGRATULATIONS YOU LEARNED HOW TO IGNORE SOMEONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
seriously.
Maybe a ban is unfair, but it hasn't been cleared and probably will not be. 2 days is nothing even if it is power surge. Not a big deal.

P.S To the people who reported him; how about you use that ignore feature? Thanks for understanding (hopefully)
Too much rage here in the forums. A nice change would be...nice.

._. You did this every 1 Minute?

That's still a lot. If I were you, I would just repeat myself after the sentence went off-screen.(AKA, Chat Box)

Also, most people don't join Guilds, because they don't know what to do. Mostly, they just Join a Guild if it has a "Cool" Name.

I found a guy once actually

I found a guy once actually sending everyone playing the lockdown game a invite after every game. When I said something to him his reaction was quit whining noob you never got a guild invite? Seems to be most of the people in this game find spamming okay. Most of the time when I ask someone to stop shouting selling whatever every 5 seconds they give me the look man I am doing nothing wrong Ima report you for harassment crap.
