Vog and Skolver T3 bosses

Wolvers are my favorite monster in the game and I think they deserve more than a Teir 1 Snarbolax as a boss.
Thus we need Vog to be back along with Skolver. Skolver could be a more detailed and ice-like big version of an Alpha Frostfur. This would allow Skolver Armor users to have a use of their armor in a boss fight to their skill level, besides Royal Jelly/Jelly King and the Snarbolax.
Both are Teir 3 bosses, both are about 3-5 times the size of Alpha Wolvers
When you get to the room theres 2 party buttons.
You are allowed only 1 selection, One button spawns Vog; the other, Skolver.
Vog deals elemental damage, Skolver deals piercing damage.
The Strata could be a situation in which Vog and Skolver are fighting for territory (credit to Star). With Gun Puppies, Chromalisks and Gremlins tossed in for some variety.
Skolver Party Button:
An animation occurrs where Vog is defeated by Skolver and is tossed into some icicles before disappearing after death.
Skolver roar/howls at you and the fight begins.
Vog Party Button:
Skolver is defeated and is tossed into fire by Vog. Same death animation as above.
Vog roar/howls at you and the fight starts.
Just a thought but if they are legendary/divine beasts maybe they can talk? As in Vana's speech bubble?
Vog fight:
3 phases
Phase 1: Normal Alpha Wolver attacks with chance of fire per hit. Can spawn up to 2 Vog cubs/Ash Tails by barking.
Phase 2: Vog burrows undergound for an amount of time while 5 Vog cubs/Ash Tails attack you. After a certain amount of time, Vog pops out of the ground again and wherever he is, a pillar of fire, similar to the Fang of Vog charge attack, spawns Shadow fire within the radius and has a chance of fire to any knight within the radius. This attack is used occassionally and Vog only stays undergound when the phase starts, the other times he just goes under for about 5 seconds than comes back up. Water Globes can be used to extinguish fire.
Phase 3: Same as last phases except 4 Vog cubs/Ash Tails can spawn at a time. Also he has another attack. Vog backs away from the knights and charges an attack. Vog then pounces at a selected ktnight, indicated by a purple pillar of light, and chomps him/her until he/she is defeated. This attack can be similar to a Zombie lunge attack, but more wolver-like. It can also spawn Shadow fire in a circle around Vog and the trapped knight, preventing other knights from helping unless utilizing the Water Globes to extinguish the fire. If the knight breaks free, the fire is extinguished on its own. This attack can maybe have an animation where the knight struggles to break free. Also Vog wont attack quickly and instantly kill the knight. Vog will bite the knight every 5-7 seconds maybe, to ensure a chance of escape? To escape the knight will either have to attack Vog repeatedly, or, if in a party, the knight's teammates would have to attack Vog as well. If the knight trapped is attacked by Vog, there is no chance of fire applied. The knight trapped cannot be targeted or harmed by other Wolvers in the battle. The trapped knight takes less damage while trapped by Vog.
Skolver fight:
3Phases
Phase 1: Same as Vog but with a chance of freeze per hit and 2 Frostifurs by barking.
Phase 2: Same as Vog but instead of burrowing, Skolver encases itself in a pillar of ice and gradually heals over time while 5 Frostifurs attack the knights. Knights can break Skolver out of the ice to prevent it from healing. Once Skolver is fully healed or breaks out of the ice, It will attack the same as Phase 1 but can cause icicle spikes to appear randomly at a targeted area by burrowing under the ground, much like the Snarbolax, except these stay in the area. The Fire Globes, like the ones in Candlestick Keep, can melt the icicles. The icicles can also be shattered if attacked enough by the knights
Phase 3: Same as Vog except the pouncing attack has a chance to spawn icicles around Skolver and the trapped knight, preventing other knights to come to the rescue without utilizing the Fire Globes to melt the icicles. If the knight escapes, the icicles shatter/melt on their own. If the trapped knight is attacked by Skolver, no chance of freeze is applied. The trapped knight takes less damage while trapped by Vog.
In both fights, any Frostifurs/Vog cubs/Ash Tails drop hearts when defeated. They are guaranteed to drop one large heart in Phase 3 of the fights, as that is when Vog/Skolver does the pouncing attack.
The dying animation for Vog could be its fur falls off into ashes as it howls/roars before eventually turning entirely into ashes and disappearing.
The dying animation for Skolver could be it slowly turns into pure ice as it howls/roars then cracks and shatters, revealing a golden wolver spirit, much like the ones from the Wild Hunting Blade attacks. The Golden Wolver spirits appears for about a second or two, then dissipates into nothing.
The Giant tokens are colored accordingly and named appropriately.
The best prize from Vog tokens would be a Fang of Vog weapon for about 30 tokens (to be determined by difficulty of the boss in testing)
Best token prize from Skolver could be, a sword similar to Fang of Vog, but named uniquely. The sword could be called "Frost Bite" . (credit to Star) The charge could cause 4 icicle Pillars to appear around the player, damaging with split normal and piercing damage. Normal Hits could have good knockback and inflict freeze. Instead maybe have the sword do a charge similar to the Barbarous Thorn Blade, with a Phantasmal dark blue Skolver that bites forward and can inflict freeze. (with good knockback/rang of course.)
Other Token obtained Items could include:
Special accessories such as Vog Wolver Tail and Skolver Wolver Tail. I'd like to see some of those in the game. Maybe like...
Drab/Regal Wolver Tail: 15-20 tokens
Cool/Toasty Wolver Tail: 30-40 tokens
(OPTIONAL)Divine/Volcanic Wolver Tail: 60-70 tokens
This way the really rare ones stay rare and the normally rare ones are at least possible to get.
Also for the Drab, Regal, Cool and Toasty ones, make them unbound!
That way they are rare due to how hard it is to get them, but not common enough to crash their market value upon release.
A Vog and Skolver themed shield. Come up with designs and post if you like.
Do NOT reccomend Skolver and Vog Cub Armor and helm as a rare drop from Vog and Skolver. I'd say MAYBE for a Token Item, but by then you'd probably already have the armor set in order to defeat the bosses. Also adding them as Token Items could potentially reduce their value. Ask some of the philosophers of the economy of Spiral Knights on that question.
Whew took me awhile to finish this so I hope this receives some positive posts. Any additions to this are appreciated as long as you give a reason.
Don't make the fight impossible guys, I did my best to make limits and base the fights off other bosses. When I simulated the battle in my head, it seemed about as hard as Vanaduke, if not a tad bit harder (especially when soloing). If you actually break down the Vanaduke fight, it sounds harder than it is.
Also after some posts further down, I think that a simultaneous fight with both Vog and Skolver would be a bit OP. For example they could both use their pounce attack and kill you twice as fast. Even If that was fixed, there are many other ways this would be hard, such as Shadow fire spawning around you while standing next to a Fire Globe. Overall it would be like fighting 2 giant Teir 3 Alpha Wolvers. Try soloing that :P
EDIT:
Perhaps make Skolver a normal Tier 3 boss, and Vog the Shadow Lair version of it. I only say Skolver should be Normal Tier 3 because Vanaduke already is the fire boss there, so It would feel probably repetitive for knights to go through more fire.
If not the idea of that, sustain the original thought and add the option for both in the Shadow Lair and Normal Tier 3, but still merge the levels so you fight Vog Cubs and Frostifurs at the same time.

Also yeah they should share a token i guess, but the accessories should be obtained by tokens too.
I mean if they're for end-gamers anyway, this would be a good chance for those Wolver gear users to get a nice accessory that compliments their gear.

I might get hated on for this..... but what if you had to fight both the Skolver & Vog in the same battle, and have a Fire and Ice motif going on in the levels, rather then making them mutually exclusive.

No, see, the button thing kind of made it unique. It made it were you would get the same rewards, yet have TWO bosses in one area. I find it a unique aspect, though yes, a dual fight would also be neat. Both bosses in the same level just really adds a level of amazing too it, different from the Roarmulus Twins who were identical models.

Star... That's like, the best idea ever. How about though, it's like we fight Vog first, then Skolver, then both at the same time like that one boss in the Ice Temple in Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. What was his name? I think it was like Maz...

We use the fire orbs to make Skolver immune, and water orbs to make Vog immune. Xylka told me to read this. :P

Edit 2: Just reread OP, I'm loving it. How about: One fight, either Vog or Skolver. Then you have the option to fight them both at the same time/the other boss you didn't fight.

There is already a boss (probably not as epic, tho). Why nto call it a sub-boss with some good rewards, like toxi/sloombargo?

Toxilargos are already in regular levels, I see them on my way to boss runs sometimes.
As for Slooms/Sloombargos, OOO is workin on fixing them, Starlight Cradle, and sleep status in general.

Plus those fire/ice combo fights in Legend of Zelda are basically the same as RT if you think about it, just with 2 elements :P

Also I'd think it would be funny that if they pounced on you, and you died, that their animation would be to continue biting you until you were 'saved' or until you revived and "narrowly escaped!". That would add a bit more flair to the fight, like Skolver's death animation, as opposed to Vanaduke's Hammer of Vog smash kill. (especially when you're in Skolver gear >.o)

Also I'd say the pounce attack is unavoidable. (think as if its either a Slag Guard, or a giant Wolf jumping to nom you. Either way, You are getting hit. The initial pounce could do say 2-4 bars of damage, and the bite could do 5-7 bars.

Because Vog was a boss in beta/preview event and i think we need a good Wolver boss to actually give us practice on the Teir 3 ones.
EDIT: Teir 3 Wolvers = teleport spam.
Add Vog and you get an epic boss fight and good practice against higher teir wolvers, which many people have trouble with. I'm okay against them and I'd love a challenge for the new "Teir 4" that's being talked about.

I was thinking of a simultaneous fight, enabling both status effects to be inflicted on the field, but capable of canceling each other out to help shorten duration. The per-cursor levels suggest the Vog and Skolver are fighting over territory, so you see constant transitions between ice and fire themes in both the rooms of a level and the monsters as you work your way down. Monster mix should contain Ash tail, Frostifer, Salamanders, Tundralisk, Gun puppies, and scattered groups of Gremlins (hunting party).
The battle itself would need to be very straight forward, since wolver adds would sharply increase the difficultly. Just as a prototype concept, each monster would have 4 identical attacks with opposing status effects. A single bite/lunge attack, a breath attack, a projectile attack, and a passive mist left behind after teleporting. Breath attack is a super sized version of zombie breath, dealing no damage but inflicting a status. The projectile attack comes in the form of a fireball that bursts into a pillar of flame (like the Fang's spin attack) for Vog, and a large ice crystal projectile that causes ice spikes around the point of impact for Skolver. The passive mist works the same way as mist left behind by certain monsters. Teleporting ability will have a much lower frequency, and long projection time to make up for the fact that you can't interrupt them, like you could with normal wolvers. For novelty sake, I fully agree that Vog should be doing Elemental damage as it would encourage a mixed loadout solo, and dividing loadouts for parties. And now the kicker..... the 2 beasts can inflict status effects on each other if they are in range of the attacks. Couple that with a strong negative resistance to the opposing status, and it should prove powerful enough to actually take advantage of in combat.
Now getting the 2 statuses to cancel each other involves a bit of risk. Fire can break ice through a shield, but canceling fire means freezing yourself and becoming immobile, even if it doesn't damage you initially. I can't think of an effective way to better deal with it.

Wolver Tail is established, but what about trinkets and other accessories and such?

As for "Claw o Skolver," I wad thinking like "Frigid Frost of Skolver". Not the best, I know.

So maybe The dual thing was a tad OP.
I can't see any trinkets as we already have piercing and ele def from fire and primal sparks.
The Vog set/Skolver set was a good idea for prizes. Maybe a shivermist and AoA as well? :/

Why do we want another sword to mimic Fang of Vog?
How about instead we get a different kind of shield? Thematically, it makes sense. Fire's the more volatile of the two elements, so make a 5* shield instead to rival either the Grey Owlite or the Crest of Almire.
Or hell, make both a sword AND a shield so this way it can mirror some of Vanaduke's overall rewards (Fang of Vog and Blackened Crest were offered for FSC). Make the sword something like "Frostbite" to go along with the beast-theme of Vog/Skolver and the shield a Frozen Crest at 4* and something for it's 5* upgrade.

The Heater Shield has elemental/freeze, and the Skelly does Shadow/Freeze, and there a few piercing shields available already... and shadow/elemental wouldn't be a logical choice for this guy.
And in hindsight, a 360 freezing spin has some pretty glaring flaws...... But there isn't a freezing pierce sword. Charge attack flings ice spikes?

Skolver and Vog are considered mythical creatures in clockwork lore. And I think it was the vog cub, not actually Vog that they had earlier.

Maybe a volcanic salamander would be cool and another line of chroma thingy a ice salamander. What I was getting to similar but a salamander boss that (or mini boss) that would have a similar theme of vog accept more of a salamander/dragon boss that can flybarond shooting fire/ice attacks it could work out and tokens could give out special swords like a dragon sword or a salamander suit/helm for XXX tokens depending on the stars of it.

Me and a group of epopel oncenran into a vog cub pack it was very fun seeing vog cubs in wolves den (fire themed)

I is on my iPod and autcorrect it getting very annoying I mean to say::::
also in a few levels .... A group if me and a few people on certain levels saw vog cubs and were actually not that hard

If you think they are not, then take a screenshot and upload it to the wiki or other image hosting site, then link it here.
Trust me, I'm sure its just a T3 Ash Tail. Many people mistake them for their coloration, but you can actually view the Vog Cub's skin template in the files of the Spiral Knights rsrc folder.
Get there by going through this file path:
C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Three Rings Design\Spiral Knights\rsrc\character\npc\monster\wolver
Or type in %appdata% into the address bar in the Windows Explorer and follow the path through the "Three Rings Design" folder
If you use steam go through here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\spiral knights\rsrc\character\npc\monster\wolver
Then find the one titled "skin_vog" or something. I guarantee you its not the same.
There's also a "skin_fir-a_t3" or something that's for the T3 Ash Tails. Compare them, show proof that you are right in game, and THEN tell me I'm wrong.

Just a call out again to you knights. At this state, would you like to have Vog and Skolver as bosses? If not why OR what could be changed to this.

Either way, Vog needs to come back at least. Skolver can be an add on, but would be nice as a ice boss (besides Ice Queen which is already basically a JK remake and EASY.)
I do believe you like cows almost as much as I like wolves.

How about making this a 2 stratum boss fight starting in the town of gremlin outcasts Emberlight. Meet a group of gremlins who want to stop the beasts from destroying the clockworks near their home with their fighting and are hiring knights to do the job. The first stratum could contain the battlezone where the beasts are fighting, having the knights travel through to find the beasts lair. They could meet groups of gremlins who can give/sell/trade mechaknights to help with the trip. They might also meet some environmental probelms like a broken bridge that needs certain parts to fix that the gremlins can work on. Eventually they would reach two party buttons (one for Skolver and one for Vog) which would determine the cutscene. From there we would witness one of the beasts fall as suggested, and have the victor retreat to its own lair. We then fight with the victors minions to finish the level set (sort of like a mini-boss battle).
Now, instead of a terminal we reach a gremlin outpost and can get some unique recipes/items from them e.g. a variation path for the BTB where it evolves into the something named Skolver Skewer/Tooth/Claw that offers freeze status for reduced damage like the flamberge and rigadoon, shooting icicles for its charge attack. We might also get a variation path on the BTS like a Vog Hide Shield or Vog Bone Shield that offers freeze resist (melts the ice) increased attack speed and split normal elemental defense. These would of course come from recipes purchased with tokens and contain unique materials that are purchased with tokens (Gremlin Saviour Medals?). Maybe even a variation on the DBB line that can inflict random freeze and fire status like a Bristle Fur Bomb that launches spikes of vog and skolver coats. The balancing could possibly be a slower charge time or movement speed while walking? Anyway, instead of items from tokens, we get unique recipes from gremlin traders (not Brinks the token trader or Basil). (Also note that I am anti on the whole "get a wolver tail accessory" idea. Leave accessories to lockboxes and featured actions.)
Once that is over we can proceed into the lair of the victor and it could be like a themed version of the lair of The Snarbolax, where fire or frost reigns supreme. We could see all the beast type enemies (and perhaps a beast turret like a porcu-pine, a stationary tree animal.) and perhaps a few undead and fiends to spice it up. The fight would go as suggested but in a themed lair, filled with bones and corpses of gremlins etc. (Perhaps instead of the legendary beasts talking it could be a gremlin guide who is well versed in the beasts legends). Have fire orbs for the skolver fight to make it "vulnerable" and water orbs to make vog "vulnerable".
Basically what I would like to see (if this is implemented, which I pray it is) is a sort of scenario tier, one that has a story instead of the whole "hey guys lets go chop some jellies with a shovel and get like 10 billion sealed swords". If there is one thing this game is missing at the moment it is stories. Instead of another generic boss fight where we are subject to boring old same old, we are enveloped in a diverse story that we can enjoy.

I still think it's a BRILLIANT idea, I'd love to see an ice boss, a wolver boss (other than snarby) and another T3 boss, and this fits all 3.

If there is one thing this game is missing at the moment it is stories. Instead of another generic boss fight where we are subject to boring old same old, we are enveloped in a diverse story that we can enjoy.

I think that, overall, this is a truly great idea, both because I like the idea and Xylka is my close friend. :P
I appreciate that it is a different idea than most others, and I like the idea of having another Tier 3 boss for those of us that are usually too lazy to get SL-compatable equipment or don't succeed at Vanaduke due to incompatable gear. By having a Fire and Ice boss, I think that Spiral Knights will get that diversity that Tdhk was talking about.
If we utilized these ideas together, I think that OOO would definitely be able to generate something out of this, since it doesn't require as much work involving skins as other areas did. One thing though, that I might want to add...if OOO wanted to, they could easily make some new equipment that relate to these Grand Wolvers...perhaps even some materials in order to craft other types of items, perhaps a Wolver Tooth Necklace or Wolver Bone Greaves as trinket slot upgrades that provide a type of bonus. But overall, this idea is so great that I simply had to reintroduce it to the world! :D

Why not 2 of them at the same time (like Starlinvf said) - like the Roarmulus Twins and Rabid Snarbolaxes, but double the rewards? Also, why not Vog's Fire + Skolver's Ice = Curse?

Why should there be another beast type boss before others?
I mean you're sayin' that "snarb isnae good enough", but why not? Beasts have a boss, even if it is T1. There are still families that deserve bosses: Gremlins (Missions coming, ik, ik, but who knows when?), Undead (Vanaduke is *technically* undead, but it's nothing to do with an undead boss, as such. I mean an *actual* undead boss) and Fiend, which has no kind of boss in the game at all, and is actually already preset very nicely for a boss level...y'know, seein' as the boss could be...just...the devil boss that all the devils work for.
As interesting as Wolver bosses may be, I'd rather see more families of bosses first, before a family that already has two bosses gets another 1/2.

More bosses: definitely YES.
But I don't care which ones they are. Just want new levels, new enemies, new bosses. NEW is the key word, having re-used levels is ok for a while but we already had those, time for changes.
T2 bosses are also OK if items I can get for their tokens are useful, and cannot be obtained in any other way.

I agree with you,and understand what you mean. I didn't meant to say Snarby wasn't good enough for a boss,I just though we need a new boss in general, what with the lack of content. I only chose Vog since I love wolves/foxes. (w/e the heck Wolvers are :P)

Lol my friend told me about that a few days ago (doesn't play Spiral Knights). I honest;y have never seen any content from Monster Hunter Tri other than the box cover.
And now I gtg.

While i have no qualms with the idea itself, I would rather the other themes be filled out first before we start repeating themes.
Curently we have 4 themes filled
Beast-Snarby
Construct-The Twins
Slime- RJ
Fire- Vanaduke
Which means we are missing the folowing themes (if you dont count shadow lairs anyway)
Undead
Feind
Grimlin
Freeze
Shock
Poison
Stun
Curse
Skolver could cover freeze, but Vog is already handled via snarby (beast) and vanaduke (fire)

Well skolver was my intention, but I added vog to appeal to more people.
Regardless, this could at least be considered an idea in the making if nothing else. I too would love more variety in themed bosses.
EDIT:
I made this Idea before Shadow lairs were accessible, if i recall correctly. Might need to Edit OP again.

One should be a normal boss and the other one from shadow lair. I wouldnt like to be kicked from a party because i had piercing armour and the others elemental. But maybe im wrong, maybe the idea of choosing from an elemental or a piercing cow could work.

I love the idea, except one problem. There already are Vog and Wolver Tails in game.
Vog Tail = Toasty Wolver Tail (Accessory)
Skolver Tail = Cool Wolver Tail (Accessory) - I believe it's cool, it might be a different one...
I also think they should share a token, since the buttons are in the same room and such.
All in all, I really like the idea! :)
