To put it bluntly, the method of acquiring Shadow Keys is an insult to knights everywhere. In no other instance do you gamble for game content. Why should this be the way now when you have no reason to? Not only does it lessen the chance of the free knights to play it, but it caters heavily to the paying knights, as the one with the most cash has the best chance of getting multiple shadow keys. It's silly, and creates an annoying barrier for everyone.
And no Nick, the AH is NOT a good way of acquiring Shadow Keys, for they come from players at a random price, as there is no set value for them. They cannot be easily found or bought from an NPC, so the price fluctuates based on how much one spent for that shadow key, which could be from a mere $2.50 to $100+.
Instead, I propose that they be put in Boost's shop with the following stipulations:
1. They will cost 750 CE, more or less around that price. It is for Tier 3 players only, so a price that they would be able to acquire would be reasonable.
2. They will be a limit to the amount a knight can buy in a given time. A week sounds okay to me. The limit could be anywhere from 1-5 shadow keys.
3. Shadow keys will still be available from lockboxes.
4. Due to their unstable, shadowy nature, these keys will last one week. After that, all unused keys will disappear, both from Boost's shop and the players inventory. This nature will also be applied to ones gotten from lockboxes, perhaps with a slightly longer shelf time.
*optional*
5. They will still be available to be auctioned. However, if the auction fails, the key is gone for good. Also, any key with a life of less than 3 days cannot be auctioned.
This should appeal to everyone. No one can hoard shadow keys, but everyone can acquire them.
I sincerely hope that the developers listen to this idea. This did just pop into my heard, so it may or may not need some revisions.
