Is DMG vs [Family] useless if you already have [Weapon] DMG Bonus Maximum?

Lets say my Loadout was:

Skolver set (Sword DMG VH)
BTS (Sword DMG Med)

This would give a Sword Damage Bonus: Maximum.

Now lets say I had 2 Leviathans with equal heat, one stock without any UV and the other with UV DMG vs Undead Very High.

Would both blades do the exact same damage to Undead?

Has anybody tested out a similar situation to confirm this one way or the other?

It looks like the answer is to my question is Yes, but I don't have a good way to test it at the moment.

The Wiki is not quite clear on this though it does state that [Weapon] DMG Med and DMG vs [xxxx] Med would both hit for the same value if all other things were equal:

Basically, yes.

Though falling into different categories, they stack, and Damage Bonus caps at Maximum ('+6').

If a player had Handgun A with UV DB Slimes High(+3), DB Guns High (+3), and universal DB Med (+2):
- Handgun A would have DB Slimes Maximum (+6)
- Handguns B & C would have DB Ultra (+5)
- Handgun A would have DB Ultra (+5) vs. Non-Slime
- Swords & Bombs would have DB Med

So having a weapon with UV

So having a weapon with UV DMG vs [Family] would be wasted if your gear already gave you DMG Bonus Maximum for that weapon type.

OK, thanks.

I have been mist crafting Caliburs for the elusive UV CTR +4 (or at least +2) and was keeping my eye out for a DB vs Undead Very High while I was at it because I thought it might be cool to take it CIV (DB vs Undead +2) for a DB vs Undead Maximum blade. My primary is swords, so I usually have as much Sword DB as I can. This would make it a bit useless to make an Undead Max CIV. I'd be better off with a Undead UV Levi plus Sword DB from gear.
