Many players are living convinced that the only right place for selling and buying items is TRADE channel. Its not allowed on zone or either general chat. Then why almost every players is posting trade offers on ZONE, or sometimes even shouting them on general (while zone is not as annoying then shout is most annoying since it not only covers space in chat but also on scree)?
Becouse trade channel is tunred off by default for all players. It takes a while to turn it on and learn how to use (you need to type /join 2 in chat to turn it on). And becouse of that its impossible to reach most of new T1 players via trade channel for someone selling mats (that are needed to craft T2 weapons) or premade 2 and 3 star weapons. Bevouse of that they use zone or geneal with shouts for trade.
If trade chat would be turned on by default, everyone could reach anyone (not revelant if its new player, or old player) via trade channel and sell his goods to anyone.
Possible option:
- trade channel turned on by default
- trade channel on diffrent tab so it wont interfere with regular chat
The trade channel used to be on by default, but most people complained, and it was set to off by default.
The problem that needs solving, is that trade chat invariably leaks into general and zone chat because it's too much of a hassle to yell in /2 and fish for responses, and the majority of the population doesn't want to get trade chat spam. Hence leading to trade chat becoming mostly useless, and traders fishing for bites where they shouldn't be, in general or zone chat.
The solution I propose is: when you are logged on, you have the option of posting a trade message, which is a *short* advertisement for what you want to buy or sell. Trade chat is replaced by a Trade Panel, which basically lists all the active advertisements at any given time. Postings could also be subdivided into categories like WTB/WTS, or mats/recipe/equipment/usables/accessories, with players limited to one WTB and one WTS posting. This eliminates the need to spam a message repeatedly hoping that a potential buyer will be online to see it- all a buyer (or seller) has to do is open up the Trade Panel and scroll through the listings. When a knight goes off into the clockworks, Lockdown/Blast Network or logs off, all of their listings are automatically deleted (for the non-logoff cases, the listings are saved and put back on when the knight returns to Haven).
