Seeing how my other stories were miserable fails, I've decided to start a new story, The Core Wars. Hopefully, this won't be as horrible as my other stories. I plan on actually updating this story at least once every 2 weeks. Not forgetting about it completely. Amazing, isn't it.
This story will be related to those Boss Bio's I've been writing recently. So don't be surprised when you encounter something non-canon.
So, here's the prologue. Might not be very good, after not having written in this style for a while, but it should inprove.
Core paced back and forth, wearing a path in the carpet. He was surrounded by his loyal soldiers, warriors that he had gathered in his many centuries on Cradle. But it would not be enough. It would certainly not be enough.
Core stopped moving. It was no use. No matter how much he thought, he could not find a way to delay the inevitable. He had an idea, but he could not start it. He had none of the materials necessary to build his ultimate weapon, the one item that could give him a chance against his enemies.
“If only I could get to Luminaria…” He thought. But it was impossible. He was locked in his fortress, no way in and no way out. Of course, unless he discovered how those Knights had snuck through into his prison, then he could. But it was impossible to discover how they had done it. Looking for the exit had done him no good, and the foursome had no idea whatsoever how they had gotten in. They kept feeding him junk about a Spiral Order, a spaceship called the Skylark, and something about needing to get massive amounts of energy. The only good part was that now he knew that there was a new host of warriors of Cradle, who would help a great deal in the war.
One of his Gremlin soldiers ran into the room. He looked quite panicked, and as pale as a ghost. Of course, he was already white to begin with.
“Core, our motion detectors have sensed massive amounts of movement above our cavern. It is nothing like we have ever seen before; the readings are off the scale!”
Core sighed. “They are beginning to make a move against us. I doubt that our barricades will hold. Battle is inevitable. Not many of us will survive the first fight. And as we are speaking, more are coming. This is a war we cannot win.”
“But we can try.”
If Core’s robotic body allowed him a mouth, he would have slightly smiled. He admired the Gremlin’s spirit. His name was Surge. He was the first soldier that had been enlisted in his army, and they had a special bond between themselves.
“Yes, indeed we can.” Core walked out of the room, a pathway opening in his horde of warriors. Surge followed him. They walked out onto a balcony hanging off a tower, right in the middle of a massive fortress, although the term ‘city’ would have suited it better. It was his last line of defense against his enemies, and he knew that if it was ever breached, he would be doomed.
“Is there any hope for us, Core?” Surge asked him. Core wished that he could lie and have his wish come true, but it was not going to happen.
“I’m afraid not, old friend.” He put his arm on the Gremlin’s shoulder. “If the Clockworks Lords don’t come to their senses, then none of us stand a chance.” And with those parting words, Core walked back into his fortress, ready to begin the final preparations before the war.

Chapter 1 – Ka-ley Intro
My paws pounded against the rough ground of the Gloaming Wildwoods. Trees and bushes became dark streaks of color, and the shining moon was all but a small pinpoint of light. My windswept fur was flattened against my body, and my eyes were narrowed and I hurtled forward as fast as I could. But I could sense them gaining, gaining on me…
I awoke with a startled blink. It was daytime again, or as close to daytime as you can get to with an artificial sun. Light was pouring through the shades covering the windows, and I could hear the sounds of the Great Colony waking up and getting ready for a new day. I sat up and looked around.
Strobe was already in the kitchen preparing breakfast. I could smell the delicious scent of Snipe roasting over the oven, along with Snipe eggs being boiled. My mouth watered. Snipe seemed to be the basis of most Gremlin meals. Tasted pretty good with the right spices. A tall glass of Forbidden Fruit juice was standing on the counter, a purple liquid sloshing around inside. I could never understand how Chrome could stomach the extremely bitter drink. Next to it was a small bowl filled with water for me.
I had been having the same recurring dream again. It started with a chase through the trees, and then a confrontation with my pack at Maiden’s Sorrow, a raging river said to made from the tears of Almirian women whose loved ones had perished in the Unified War. And it always ended with me tumbling into the river, which had suddenly turned into a deep, dark abyss.
My pack of fellow Skolvers had abandoned me several weeks ago. I’d gotten into a spot of trouble with my friend Dyrus, a Vog. It had been one of many illegal excursions into Vog territory. Dyrus had been on patrol with several other Vogs and attacked me before he realized who I was. I couldn’t exactly blame him. Life in the Gloaming Wildwoods was dangerous, especially with all those Knights wandering around. You had to be on your guard at all times, and anything that moved was a potential threat. Not to mention the Skolvers and Vogs had an ongoing rivalry, both races descending from a pair of opposing mega-Wolvers.
So, I had been caught by the patrol group and had very reluctantly let go, only because I was the daughter of the Alpha Skolver. And then they had banished me from the pack under the pain of death, because my antics were causing much more friction between them and the Vogs than they would have liked. Might as well have left me to the Knights. I had been left unconscious by Maiden’s Sorrow.
But fortunately, I’d been found by a Gremlin called Chrome, who’d been exploring the Wildwoods.
Speaking the universal language of the Clockworks, I’d explained to him my predicament, and he’d been kind enough to take me in.
Chrome put down the steaming pan he was wielding and walked over to me, then rubbed my head. “Hey, sleepy-head.” He said with a smile. “It’s almost noon. You’ve slept through breakfast, so now I’m preparing lunch.”
I blinked. Okay, so I was wrong. Lunch instead of breakfast. I looked up at Strobe with wide, innocent blue eyes.
“Aw, you didn’t save me anything? Not even a tiny scrap of food?” I asked.
“Nope, sorry. The early Snipe gets the worm, as they say. Or in this case, the early Skolver gets the Snipe.” Chrome shrugged.
“Phooey.” I got up on all four legs and jumped out of the box that acted as my bed. “Fine then. Lemme guess what’s for lunch.” I sniffed the air one more time. “Snipe, probably fried and spiced with Blaze Pepper, with boiled Snipe eggs and probably something else because what I already listed isn’t enough food. And you also got a cup of Forbidden Fruit juice for yourself and a bowl of water for me as usual. Am I right?”
Chrome chuckled. “Not a bad nose you got there. Although this time I cooked more Snipe than usual. Since you didn’t eat breakfast today, I had some leftover food. So no third dish.”
“So you lied!” I said jokingly. “You said you didn’t save me anything!”
“I didn’t. Saving food and transporting it to another meal are two different things.” Chrome explained.
“I swear, you Gremlins and your silly logic…” I walked over next to the low table where Chrome ate. He went back to kitchen, and soon carried back two dishes of food. He placed one on the table and the other in front of me. Then he went back and got his glass of juice and my bowl of water, and put them in front of their respective owners. I licked my lips expectantly.
“Dig in.” Chrome said as he sat down in front of the table. I stuck my mouth at the mound of food on my plate and messily began devouring the contents.
Several minutes later, lunch was finished. Chrome was busy washing the dishes, and I was sunbathing in a patch of light under a window. Suddenly, a knock came from the front door. Chrome turned off the sink and frowned.
“I wasn’t expecting anyone today. I wonder who that could be.” He walked over to the door and opened it. A group of fierce looking Gremlins clad in metal armor stood outside, several of them brandishing weapons. A Gremlin wearing a mask and blood-red robes was at their head, with a massive hammer strapped to his back. I recognized them instantly. This group of Gremlins had visited Chrome several times already, something to do with his walks in the Wildwoods and the Snarbolax. Although previously, they hadn’t worn any armor. Why were they now?
I quickly ran and ducked under a chair.
“Well he- Oh. It’s you guys again.” Chrome remarked with a hint of contempt. “Whadaya want now? You guys already took all the research I did on the Snarbolax, in case you were looking for more. You took it all.”
The lead Gremlin brutally shoved Chrome aside, slamming him against a wall, and entered the house. His head turned back and forth, as if looking for something. “We’ve come for the Skolver.” He said with a tone of menace and authority.
Chrome’s brow furrowed as he recovered from the lead Gremlin’s push. “What? Ka-ley? What do you need her for?” He asked suspiciously. “She hasn’t done anything wrong, if that’s what you’re here for.”
I decided to stay quiet and not mention the trouble over a Snipe I’d caused in the marketplace earlier that week.
The Gremlin snorted. “Don’t bandy words with me, Chrome. You know perfectly well why I’m here. Now hand her over.”
Chrome’s eyes narrowed. “I told you once, I told you twice, and I’ll tell you a hundred times if I must. But Ka-ley is not and will not be part of your weapons program, Seerus. She’s too valuable to be experimented on like some dumb creature.”
Ah, Seerus, so that was his name. But what was this about a weapons program?
“Hah! Valuable for us, indeed. Her Skolver powers will be a valuable asset to my work. Who knows what I could unlock?” Seerus sneered.
“Oh, come on Chrome, give her up!” A Gremlin in the group behind Seerus piped up. “It’s for the good of the Colony, you know that! For the good of all of Cradle, even!”
“I don’t really give a crap about that.” Chrome crossed his arms across his chest. “Find some other Skolver. Or a Vog. A Snarbolax clone even. But you can’t have Ka-ley.”
Seerus frowned. “I don’t think you understand how hard it is to find one of these creatures nowadays. The Knight’s have been blundering through the Wildwoods, and have hunted the Vogs and Skolvers for their pelts to near extinction. In fact, according to the Knight, they are extinct. The survivors are in hiding, and trust no one.” Then Seerus grabbed his massive hammer off his back, and held it in front of Chrome. “Now, we can either do this the easy way, or the hard way.”
Chrome froze. He looked at me, and then back at Seerus and his gang of henchmen. “Well, since you put it that way…”
Chrome suddenly launched his fist, aiming for Seerus’ face. He caught it seemingly without effort, and a cruel grin appeared on his face. He’d obviously been expecting it.
“Seems you’ve elected doing this the hard way.” He pushed Chrome back and pointed a finger at me. “GET HER!”
Fast as lightning, I streaked towards the door. Seerus had obviously not been expecting me to do so, and stumbled back in surprise. I rammed into him, and pushed him out the door, where he fell over and toppled over several of the other Gremlins. Chrome quickly shut the door and locked it.
“What do we do now?” I frantically asked Chrome. He had a worried look on his face.
“I suppose now w-”
Chrome was cut off by the sound of a massive boom sounding against the door. The house shook, and dust rained down from the ceiling.
“Crap. I don’t think I want to face that Rocket Hammer unarmed…” Chrome suddenly rushed into the kitchen, opened a drawer, and took out a carving knife. Then he opened another drawer and took out a huge, green gun.
“You keep a Biohazard in the kitchen?” I raised an eyebrow. “You know that they specifically warned not to put those kinds of weapons anywhere near food.”
“Yeah, whatever. Doesn’t really matter now, does it?” He pulled a lever on the gun. “All right, locked and loaded.”
A second boom sounded, and cracks appeared in the door. Chrome turned to face me and bent down.
“All right, Ka-ley. This is what you need to do. When those guys break in, rush out of the backdoor. Find your way out of the Great Colony and keep running. Don’t stop until you’re far away from here. And don’t get caught.” There was real concern in his eyes.
“But what about you?” I asked. “I can’t leave you here by yourself! They’ll kill you!”
Chrome smiled, a sad but determined smile. “Don’t you worry about me. I can take care of myself.”
The door finally burst open. Wooden splinters exploded everywhere. Seerus and the other Gremlins rushed in.
“There she is!” He bellowed. “Get her!”
Chrome turned to look at them in alarm, and quickly turned back. “All right. Go! Now! Don’t let them catch you!”
With nothing else I could do, I rushed into another room and out the back door. I turned my head and saw Chrome firing bullets into the crowd of Gremlins. His knife was impaled in the body of a Gremlin, who lay on the floor unmoving.
Amidst the chaos and fighting, Chrome managed one look at me.
“Ka-ley, GO!” He yelled at the top of his lungs. Then the attackers blocked him from view.
And so I ran. With tears in my eyes, I rushed out of the house. There were two Gremlins waiting outside by the back door, but I shot past them, their shouts of alarm alerting the others to my escape. I jumped the fence and found myself on the main road. Several citizen Gremlins pointed at me with shouts of surprise, but I kept on running.
At the end of the roar was a massive gate. There were several Gremlins on guard there, but none of them were Seerus’ men. I ran through the gate and out into the open. More shouts of surprise from the gate guards, but they didn’t do much to stop me.
Several minute later, I sat atop a tall hill, looking at the Great Colony. I could see Seerus’ men still scurrying about, still looking for me. Not that they’d ever find me, though.
Tears trickled down my face. Chrome was gone, most likely dead. I had nowhere to go. The Great Colony was now a deathtrap, and the Wildwoods were too risky. If I was caught, I’d be killed, and Chrome’s death would have been useless.
But still. I had to go somewhere. Maybe I’d be lucky and find a new place to stay. Who knew?
I got up and took one last look at the Colony, shining in the sunlight. “Goodbye Chrome.” I whispered, tears overflowing once more.
Then I turned and ran down the hill.

Untapped power?
Borrow Max's from my Fanfic: When in doubt, POWER SURGE.
Ability: Able to increase power output to undetermined levels. When fully utilized in times of massive stress, can create a powerful energy field around oneself which can disintegrate parts of matter (Which when focused further, can be channeled into a target via physical contact, vapourizing the target.) Lesser, more common use is increasing all attributes: Speed, Strength, Reaction, Awareness, Durability/Endurance and able to continue despite haven taken multiple critical hits. Degree of increase is based on output level increase, therefore it can increase indefinately, porvided he has the energy to back it up.
Drawback: leaves him exhausted the moment his energy drops to normal, or after using the Vapourization move, which leaves him unconscious. Level of exhaustion depends on level of energy expended.
Want to see it in action? Read this chapter of my Fanfic to see what I mean: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/33348?page=1#comment-252269
Good enough for you?

Name: Red
Species: Jelly (but no one knows it).
Gender: Male... I think.
Equipts: Two Antiguas, and a Mega Magnum. Groundbreaker Armor and a Jelly Helm (of course) with Dusky Round Glasses attatched.
Personality: Fun-loving, but he can't talk since he's a Jelly. Red is, however, proficient in Spirallian sign language.
Bio: Red, once a nameless Jelly Cube, found an old set of armor and slithered in. Once inside, though, he became stuck. To remedy this, Red learned how to manipulate the armor and became a Spiral Jelly.
Other: Hates Wolvers. Also dual-wields guns. To compensate for his lack of shield, Red can produce weak shield-particles.

I liked that chapter. ^^

Sadly it would seem all spots are taken so yeah...ill just pretend Gzilla's character is mine :)

NOW WTF DO YOU MEAN THAT LET THE FLAME BEGIN WAS A FAIL?! THAT WAS PROBABLY THE BEST FANFIC EVER!
Anyways, If you get the spot,
Name: Dyrus
Species: Vog (That's Right, Atgatg, we are yet to have more awesome Skolver Vog Battle.)
Personality: Lets just say he likes burning stuff. He is just a stereotypical, pyromaniac Vog.
Stuffs: As young, he showed exceptional talents in burning stuff. He is a Dire Vog, that means he is twice as large as normal Vog (which is normally bigger that alpha wolver). He uses lots of awesome pyrokinetic powers. He likes chasing squirrels and snipes.
Blah,Blah,Blah... Squirrels!

Ok, does anyone really care what gender i am?

No. not really.
And Dyrus, whatever happened to Fan-fic letters? I liked it... ;_;

And I guess I'll accept Dyrus, Spy, and Emo as secondary characters... I hate leaving good apps go to waste. XP But no more.

Just so you know, my post contains Frostex's 'hidden power'. Just in case you didn't see.

der wat? y is atg's intro in present tense? I hate present tense... so hard to write
Working on Umbra's intro. Will be past tense. :)

Umbra Intro
I was walking through the narrow pathway, squeezing my body against the canyon walls. For a second I thought I was stuck, but I managed to pull myself free and continue on inching my way to the exit, where my quarry was.
I had been tracking that Gremlin for days, following him through the Gloaming Wildwoods to the Ironclaw Munitions Factory, through various Deconstruction Zones to Cooling Chambers. He seemed like he was looking for something, but had given up and was heading home. I was hoping that he would lead me to the Great Colony. No one had ever discovered its location yet, and I intended to be the first one.
I watched as he disappeared from my view. Feeling a bit of panic for letting my only chance of getting to the Great Colony get away, I squirmed harder, and managed pull myself out of the canyon exit with an audible pop. The Gremlin turned his head, probably having heard the sound that I had made. Fortunately, he didn’t see me, and continued on his way.
I followed him for a few more hours, pausing every now and then to take a short break, and then speeding up to catch up with the Gremlin again. It was crucial that I couldn’t let him out of my sight for too long, or else he might go off track or something, or I’d be lost in the wilderness, and never see him again. I truthfully had no idea where I was, and I required the help of a Gremlin to find my way back. Hopefully I could find one who wouldn’t try to kill me first.
I crouched in the bushes, spying on the Gremlin. He went up a hill, and disappeared down the other side. I quickly scrambled up, and let out a gasp. At the top of the hill, I could see for miles around. And a few miles in front of the hill was a large, intimidating city. I knew that it could only be one thing.
“The Great Colony…” I whispered to myself. I couldn’t believe that I had found it. Wait until the boys back home find out about my discovery… They’ll never believe me. I thought. I took out my recorder and snapped off a few shots so that I’d have some evidence to present to the Order that I had discovered the location of the Great Colony.
The Gremlin had reached the bottom of the hill. I had no need to following him any longer, for I now knew where I had to go. Unless the trail curved or something of the sort, I would just have to head straight forward.
I was just about to head back down the hill and find a suitable resting spot, when I saw a flurry of white blast out of the ground a few feet in front of the Gremlin. The Gremlin fell back and tripped, obviously surprised at what had just happened, but quickly recovered. He stood up and eyed the white Wolver carefully. I drew out my Magnus and angled it at the Gremlin’s head, unsure what would happen next.
Suddenly, the Gremlin let out a cry of… happiness? Joy? Anyway, he leapt forward at the Wolver, but it burrowed underground again. I could hear the Gremlin curse as he looked for where it would pop up.
The next few minutes were somewhat entertaining. The Wolver would pop up, and the Gremlin would fail at trying to get it, again and again and again. I began feeling a bit sorry for the Gremlin. I put my Magnus down on the ground.
No. The Gremlin is the enemy. And so is the Wolver. I mentally scolded myself. I picked the Magnus up again, and prepared to shoot the Gremlin and Wolver. But when I looked back at the scene, the Wolver was nowhere to be found.
The world erupted in a volcanic blast of earth, dust, and fur. I was knocked backwards and tumbled down the hill, nearly breaking my neck in the process. As I moaned and slowly picked myself up, I saw the white Wolver up on the hill where I had been. It must have knocked me down when it came out of the ground.
The Wolver looked at me quizzically, as if trying to determine if I was a friend or foe. I decided to use its momentarily pause to strike it down. I reached for my Magnus and grasped… thin air. My Magnus was still atop the hill, not having been knocked down with me. I cursed and grabbed my Flourish instead, holding it by its tip, about to throw it. I missed and it stuck into the ground right next to my Magnus.
I got up and charged up the hill, trying the reach the Wolver. It disappeared again, but I got my Flourish and Magnus back. Then I remembered the Gremlin and looked down the other side of the hill. He was nearly to the top. I shot several bullets from my Magnus at him, but he had amazing reflexes and dodged every bullet. Then he brought out his own gun; a Sentenza. I didn’t have time to wonder what a Gremlin was doing with a Knight’s weapons, and ducked down to avoid the wave of bullets from ripping off my head.
I felt the Wolver pop up behind me this time. I turned around, my finger already pulling the trigger on my Magnus when-
I stared at the Skolver, dumbstruck. Now what was a Skolver doing out here in Gremlin territory? She – it had to be a she; all Skolvers are female*, just as all Vogs are male - looked at me with her great, big eyes and it seemed like she was wondering the same thing. I looked at her features; I couldn’t kill this Beast. It wasn’t a regular Wolver; it was a Skolver. And Skolvers were supposed to make wonderful companions, or so I had heard. And I couldn’t bring myself to kill it. The Skolver looked quite happy about that, as if she could read my thoughts.
“All right, little fellow.” I patted her on her head. “I guess you’re gonna be stuck with me for a while. Can’t let the nasty Gremlin chop you to pieces.” I turned myself around again, and readied myself to pump the Gremlin full of bronze when he reached the top of the hill.
*oh ho, you see what I did there, Atg? You are now afficially a girl.

Nice chapter. NEED MOAR. U MAKE MOAR. NOW.
Wait, if Vogs are all male how do they reproduce?

dunno but that works both ways how do skolvers and vogs reproduce

I really hoped to avoid this question but watevs.
Skolver+Vog= Baby Skolver OR Baby Vog
That's the best answer I can come up with. XP

If Umbra gets a skolver can I get a vog cub or another type of monster? (really want a vog cub, but if not then maybe something like a chromalisk?) And also nice job I really like this!

Vog Cub, granted! Although the wiki's page for Vog says that vog cubs have been hunted to extinction for their pelts. XP

Chapter 3
Spyash Intro
Curse that thieving Knight! The Skolver was rightfully mine! I need it more than he does! Nasty little bugger…
I sprinted up the hill, my Sentenza all charged up. A couple rounds in the Knight’s head should clear it up enough. But when I reached the top, I was nearly impaled by several giant bullets. I dropped down and began sniping at the Knight, with him sniping back at me. The Skolver was crouched behind him, shielding away from my murderous bullets.
I decided to try something more direct. I switched my Sentenza with my Archeron, and unleashed its charge, sending a swarm of explosions down the hillside. The Knight and Skolver dived to one side, the explosions obliterating the area where they had previously been. I then leapt over the top of the hill, and ran down the other side, blasting away with my Sentenza as I went, aiming at the Knight. I had to be careful not to damage the Skolver.
The Knight rolled to one side, and then sprang up. He grabbed his Magnus and some sort of Pulsar – I didn’t have enough time to identify with kind – and began shooting at me. Using my quick reflexes, I snatched my Wild Hunting Blade and took advantage of its graceful speed, and deflected the bullets with contemptuous ease.
The Knight grabbed out his own Nightblade, and advanced. Discarding my Wild Hunting Blade, I brought out my Archeron again and parried his first blow. My Archeron was of superior status than his Nightblade, but us Gremlins have a weakness to the shadows… just thinking about them makes me shiver. We were both at an advantage and disadvantage.
We went on for a few more blows, hacking and slashing at each other, but none of us could make contact. We clashed our blades against one another’s, locking them together. Using my one free hand, I shot my Sentenza at him, forcing him to break away to avoid the bullets. He dropped down and swept his feet in a scything motion, knocking me off my feet. I kept shooting at him with my Sentenza, keeping him from making the fatal blow. He grabbed his guns, and was about to shoot me when I shot them, knocking their systems out.
Holstering his broken guns, he gathered the rest of his weapons, all the while me shooting at him. I pulled myself up in time to see the Knight run away with the Skolver under his arms.
“Come back here with my Skolver, you coward!” I yelled at him.”Come and fight like a real Knight!” But he didn’t pay my challenge any attention, and ran deeper and deeper into the forest, with my prize in his arms.
“Darn you Knights…” I muttered under my breath. “I swear, I am going to get the Skolver, if it’s the last thing I do.”

yeah! I get my vog cub and the intro was as good as usual, and who's intro are you doing next?

since it could lead me around the whole story while i try and get it to help me

why not if skolvers and vog cubs mate he'll be able to find a skolver to i'd guess and it gives me a badass pyro as a companion

Well if you're giving the vog to spyash can I have a chromalisk?

Fixed a really wierd typo at the end of chapter 3... now how did that happen?
I'm doing my own intro next right now.
As for Dyrus... Gzilla can have him, but Spyash can also fight over him.
Basically, Spyash is fighting over a Vog and Skolver.

So you're giving him to me but saying he can argue, so this is just for your own amusement here right?

No, I mean like you own Dyrus, but Spyash will fight over him, sort of like how he's fighting over the skolver with shadow. you see? :) He wants them, but won't get them, but will try to get them anyways.
Name: Ka-ley (Kah-lay)
Species: Small 12 month old skolver.
Gender: FEMALE
Equipts: CLAWS, fangs fur.
Personality: Shy, easily scared. Friendly, but is ferocious (In an adorable way) Loves being cener of attention.
Bio: 12 month old Ka-lay gets abandoned by her pack, and is adopted by gremlins. (weird right?) They take good care of her as a pup, but other gremlins want to use her for other uses. Such as using her to kill countless knights.
You make the reast of the bio like maybe she gets away from the gremlins. Maybe in the story she is at the gremlin city right away.
other: A mark on her front right paw. A scar. Fur is a grayish white and a blue streak on her back.
Also, Id say shes about half the size of a normal wolver.
