Yeah, these have been suggested already, but I don't see anything on page 1 or page 2 about them, or any sort of discussion on how they can be implemented

I think they'd be implemented handguns with a sort of mist/flame affect instead of bullets, kind of like the Gremlin scorcher torches... Maybe they could be mid-range weaponry that delivers a focused, directional version of the Mist/Haze/Gas bombs (but not in a way that would make the said bombs obsolete)?

Hm... you can get that kind of effect in game ALREADY with the Pulsar and the Autogun lines, actually. But those are BULLETS, not mist... Also you can't RUN with an Autogun, while you'd probably be able to spray gas while running. THAT, and a mist/flame thrower probably wouldn't stop or knock enemies back so much, unless it had an air burst or something like the TF2 Pyro (in b4 this gets implemented and people use that in LD to knock enemy toothpickers into Mist/Haze fields or Vortexes left by Bombers... actually that would be hilarious. Make it happen, OOO).

So yeah, how do you think we should do this?

Running and spraying status

Running and spraying status haze does make bombs obsolete. If the point of this gun is to deal status, it would have a good chance, or high, to deal said status. Then just run and spray it on enemies. Faster than charging and waiting for a fuse, with more accuracy.

I'll support stationary, aimed flamethrower types. And instead of clips, have a bar similar to the special ability bars in lockdown, perhaps in the same way as strike/recon.

Flamethrower might be

Flamethrower might be interesting, but it should come with its cons. No knockback sounds good.

How big would the clip be?
Or maybe it could be a few second burst before reload might work? Like a real flamethrower, it shoots elemental dmg for a bit and then reloads?
Maybe make it like the flamethrower gremlins and flame puppies where the shot sits on the floor for a second or two?
How would the charge work? :|

Ideas for the weapon line? 2*-5*?
Maybe have it start where the shot is just an energy ball like the flamethrower gremlins that fire spreader shots (except one shot, versus their 3)? Then progressive upgrades get stronger?
Would it be a gun with a risk? Where the charge is like the brandish line and the flamethrower would require you to be closer to your enemy than normal as a 2*/3* weapon, but the 4*-5* could shoot at long ranges?
Would there be other elemental choices? Shadowfire? Frostfire? Etc?

How about implement this as a charge attack to another weapon, for example a shotgun that fires a flamethrower wave as a charge attack or a haze grenade

Yess, flamethrower, i want to see them burnnnnnnnn.

Instead of a long-duration constant flame it could work as a quick burst, with high reload times in between.

I can't help but shake the

I can't help but shake the thought that it could end up as an autogun clone save that the damage-dealing portion is a wave/area (that doesn't do knockback) instead of a stream of individual bullets fired as different times (that must still reach their target in order to work), so it's basically a Zombie breath wave spreading out from the weapon every time you hit fire.

Uuni's and Juances' suggestions are rather interesting though, and as a result of reading them I'm now thinking it could be a weapon that shoots a short-range burst of gas with high knockback but very low damage on normal hit and then releases a status-spray on charging it.

As for levels... well...

2*~5* weapon line

2* version starts out as a Stun-dealing pure Elemental "Haze sprayer" and since Stun is useless most of the time this could turn out as another "Magikarp Superpower" weapon like the Antigua and Sealed Sword.

3* upgrades. you will have the option to keep it as a Stun spray or branch out into two different variants- a Fire-dealing version ("Peppergas gun") and a Poison-dealing Shadow(?) version ("Toxigas gun").

4* upgrades. Pretty much go from the 3* versions. ("Habanero", "Peasoup Sprayer", and "Tea(rgas)bagger")

5* Final weapons

Fire: "Breath of Vog"
Shadow/Poison: "Ozone Destroyer"
Shadow/Sleep: "Sandman's Special"/"Exit Light"
Ice: "Nitromist sprayer"
Stun: "Mescaline Buster"

Alternatively do a Radiant Sun Shards and make the line go to 4*

+1, HOWEVER...

As long as you don't move while firing, or else the weapon would be too powerful. I especially like Mejezfeld's "Ozone Destroyer" and "Sandman's Special" I support having a Sleep inducing weapon, as it is useless to have defense against it unless we have an item that causes it.

It seems most people don't want to run and spray. Fair enough, seeing as Zombies can't run and breath attack either
