Okay, I'm going to start off by admitting that I made a mistake and purchased a recipe that I had already learned from the HoH, prompting this post.
After being upset that I had wasted 10,000 cr on a recipe that I can only get maybe 50 cr back for at a vendor, I discussed with my partner some possible solutions. We came up with these:
1. Make the sell price at a vendor higher. This can be 3/4, 1/2, or even only 1/4 of the original price. Since the purpose of HoH recipes is for them to only be accessible to the player who "earned" them, they should be left bound -- however, since they no longer have an avenue to sell the recipe if they have already learned it, at least this way they can recoup some of their loss.
2. Make the buy price higher than Basil, around AH prices, and leave them unbound. This has many benefits: it encourages players to keep doing Basil runs, it still provides players with an easy to access recipe shop, and it deters players from reselling HoH recipes for a profit. If they make a mistake like I did, they can still recoup almost their entire buy price. All of the goals (that I can think of) that OOO wanted to fulfill with the HoH in the first place.
Again, I'm making it perfectly clear that I'm suggesting this because I made a stupid mistake. I'm sure other people have made similar mistakes too when they bought recipes from Basil, but then they were able to resell them on the AH. Nevertheless, I think at least the 2nd suggestion would be an improvement on the system in general.
(Also, if anyone has any ideas what I can do with this now useless recipe, let me know ;) )
I do agree if they make the recipe sell price higher at vendor.. because I have made a similar mistake too. :P
1 star recipe = 50
2 star recipe = 500
3 star recipe = 1000
4 star recipe = 3000
5 star recipe = 5000
My advise is don't be careless next time.
