It really is a misfortune that you guys can't make it. But today worked out for most of us. I myself had tests and projects to do, and getting this over with was my best bet. Plus, I didn't wanna wait another week since we are all ready. I'll judge you guys and post the results thread soon.
@Tersa: Imma wait a few minutes for people to gather up. Not gonna start the contest yet.

I literally have seconds to do this :o
So, look at the first 9 photos I believe.
The first one, with the Divine Veil, is for Open.
The second one, with Stranger Hat, is for Pretty.

Really sorry, this has been a really busy day, and I just got on SK for seconds to do this.

It has already started, as I type this the tough and rose have been done, and the open is now being judged

*Ahem*
I'll be taking screenies of the winners. Blue hasn't chosen them yet as far as I know. But I intend to draw said winners, and, being horrible at it, I am using screenies. Please contact me as soon as you can.
Thank you!

IT IS NOT TOO LATE.
Be sure to upload pics of yourself and enter them through this thread. I take it that when there's a cutoff, Blue will post saying so.
If you need an image hosting site, imgur requires no account. Just upload and go.

Posting this for Tersa.
The contest was a whole clusterrage and it was hard to do for both... (he had net problems)
Just for the cats I didn't have time to get in:

Despite the clutter and chaos, it was a pretty cool event to both witness and take place in! I'd love for those absurd memories to be available at will on the old YouTube.
I'm glad you maintained your composure through the contest with the large group of instructionally challenged folks, and I wish you the best of luck judging as it appears part of the process was compromised.

Sorry about all the chaos some people just could not listen.. What contest is this? Was a common question because of a few spammers who became the object of retorts which led to the chat getting clogged. Even then a /shout is pretty hard to miss and I do not see what could have gone wrong. I had lots of fun and I hope you actually do post the video. Some people just have to try their hardest to ruin things.
Thanks Blueknighter for keeping your composure even though you were under pressure.
Least you got a video. All your inspections will be on that. If you still would like screenies, you can just pull frames out of the video as ya need them, so I'd say the event is a far cry from a total loss. Also, sorry if I added to the chaos. I stopped trying to help until the end, to direct people here. :v
That said, I thought you were expecting this, the thread being titled SECOND contest after all. :p

I actually regret not offering to help you, Blue. Being there, you probably noticed how... smooth my contest went. Yes, it did take long, but that is because the judging was rather slow. This proved my point that in order to host a contest you need to make sure your contestants can follow orders and are actually contributing (preselections) and also have strict and forced rules. You need to be well-organized too and once you set a date, stick to it or announce any change in time. However nothing can avoid disgrunted and whiny people...
I really wish this would have went better. Also since I couldnt attend... Id e very grateful if you would show me the video.
...I wonder what would it have ended up like in Haven..

I did not expect such disaster. :x
Most of my best saying if people are much likely to be noisy and hyperactive during the present day, it's best to say that ye disqualify the dude that keeps doing the chatty and the runny work.

Well, first off, I want to apologize for my cruddy post. I posted it right after the event, so I was still bugged about the turnout of the contest. Guess it's a mixture of a lot of pressure coming from school, life, and the game itself mashed up in one entity and taking over me. I needed to relieve the stress, thus the post above this one. I apologize everyone.
On the bright side, I will say this about the contest. I was very pleased to see the many unique costumes you all wore. I'd even take those ideas and use them to my own advantage. Despite the already mentioned catastrophes mentioned above, I think the event was very lively. Everyone, including me, were just very eager for the event to come, which is why I moved the date to today. I apologize to everyone who couldn't make it because of my abrupt change. But, despite the previous post, I could probably host another contest, a better organized one at that. Only time will tell. And I hope no chaos will occur again.
I am very happy to hear that you guys enjoyed the event, despite my [crappy] attitude towards it. That's what matters to me the most, the fact that you guys had fun. That's the whole purpose of this event... to have fun.
@Guyinshinyarmour: I wasn't bothered by your acts of trying to keep everyone under control. As a matter of fact, I want to thank you for your efforts, you and Desuchan. Yup, I definitely learned a lot from this event. Some stuff I'll take note of for if I am to host another contest.
@Tersa: I am sorry to hear that you missed practically the whole event. Desuchan tried really hard to keep up with the categories, but I moved too fast for her. I'm 2 fast, 2 furious. Nearing the end of the contest, it's where I rushed at trying to finish up. I wish I could send you the vids, but email won't work. The vids are too big to be sent. And uploading the event on Youtube won't suffice either. It took my Vanaduke solo (which is like 5 minutes long) 8 hours to upload. Imagine how much time it will take for the contest to upload? A whole week, and it's 4 videos, each about 8 minutes long. So sorry man, but I'll have to finish the judging on my own.
UPDATE ON THE JUDGING PROCESS: I'm done judging the entries on my videos, so now I'm moving onto judging the Photo-entries. I'll have the results up in about half an hour. So stay posted.

If you ever decide to host another, make sure to tell me. I could help here and there if you wanted.
Yeah Desu and me talked the whole time and it seems like it was all too fast and unorganized, which pretty much stressed her out to the point she almost left, if not for my consant pressuring to stay for me.
And about the video... talk to you about it on SK next time we meet, better.
Dammit man now I gotta stay up to see the results!

I don't wanna spam on the forums by creating a new thread on this one that's already on the first page, so I'll post the results here.
To start off, I think my decision making was mediocre. I tried my best not to pick winners out of the fact that these people are my friends/guildmates. Also, keep in mind that me myself did all the decision making, so I had a hard time picking winners. These are the results to this costume contest.

Oh good, I wasn't a hindrance. Yay for me. ^_^
As for screenshots, you can just fullscreen, then screenshot the video as the right places to get the winners costume. Sure, it might be a labourious process, but I feel it would be worth it.
Personal comments:
I'm kinda disappointed I won the open category, but not the rose. The costume I wore for it was my favorite, especially with the Twinkle Aura and all. Matches my name. :v Also kind of sad that the guy I figured would win the rose, the one with a blue chap and silvermail, didn't place at all (pretty sure they had a hyphenated name, I might be wrong). Oh well, I'm not the judge.
That said, here is what I wore for open. I feel it too is incomplete without a Twinkle Aura, but there is no way I'm paying the insane kind of prices they go for for such a subtle thing, and on a costume I wouldn't wear too terribly much either. Least the chap, though expensive, is incredibly noticeable.

Rose was probably the hardest category for me to pick winners from. The entries were too... damn... good. The reason I didn't select you for that category was because of the fact that you and Dukeplatypus up above wore practically the same thing, so you two cancelled each other out. I personally think your Open entry was superb. The costume fit really well, and the personal color looked legit on it too. Great costume, tho you don't believe so.
I think the Rose judging was a bit mediocre. The only reason that outfit you mentioned (Blue Chap/Silvermail) didn't win is because that person already won another category, so I wanted to leave the chance of winning to others. A bit harsh, but fair, in my point of view.
Here's the entry Guy was referring to by the way. http://i41.tinypic.com/1jklc0.jpg
I am so happy that you picked me for ugliest I had been wanting that catgory in a contest for a while. Thanks again great contest.

Thanks for the pics. I actually had uploaded my own before you posted yours. Thanks anyways.
But going into your entry. OH GOD.... it makes me smile every time I see it. It's just so hilarious. No doubt about it, it's pretty ugly! And I'm glad you liked the ugly category. I actually think it's different compared to having categories for best costume. If I ever host another contest, this category will definitely see the light of day again.

Good job to everyone that won! :)
@Blueknighter Sorry if my last post was sloppy, I was literally getting yelled at by my parents to leave that moment. I hope you understand. Also, I never got to obtain my secret accessory, the Prismatic Wolver Tail. I'm looking forward if you do another contest in the future.

It's fine Poke. Can't ignore your parents over a video game. But yes, I hope that in time, I can host another costume contest, just as spectacular as this one. Hope you can make it to. Actually, I hope that ALL OF YOU who missed it cause of my sudden date change can make it.

Lol, I wouldn't ignore my parents over a video game, or my friends. That's why I didn't arrive at the contest, for a small party with my close friends (that my parents were taking me to). Anyways, I would be excited for another contest. Just please no major date changes, especially on the day of, so people like myself can have time to prepare :o
Also, I'm kinda disappointed losing the pretty category. I thought my baby stranger was adorable xD

I am so ecstatic that I placed in a category! What's more is that it was the Open Entry category, and thus my favorite outright outfit for daily Spiral hijinks='D
With the new addition of varied eyes I've been wearing my Sniped Stranger Hat over my Skolver (worn in my Rose and Cute entries) as a costume.
Thanks again for hosting this exciting event, I can't express how much I enjoyed participating!!

I'm glad to hear that your favorite outfit earned you a place in the contest. Congrats, and it was wonderful having ya as part of this event. :D

Dispite all the chaos, I had a great time! :D The thing I thought you should have done (looking at my character, Hail-Stone) was make a NEW cadegory called: Imitations. Just throwing things out here, I preict you might never do that again XD even if you do, you'll have lover prizes XD Oh well, I'm glad even though it was chaotic, that we all had fun :D

The judging of Tough and Rose make me question a certain person's sense of fashion.. e-e As well as the placement of regal accessories on azure guardian... it's just that, erm, certain winning outfits were.. well.. let's just say they wouldn't get past my pre-selections. I respect you as a person Blue, but damn in certain cases your sense of fashion is.. off by a few hues. Just my opinion from the experience I gathered observing outfits and talking with other experienced people.
To prove my point:
Rose - A green rose SET (no thought process involved in making that combo), with a pumpkin bandolier (and we all know these are not meant to be put on anything because they do this do costumes: outfit, then like just, pumpkin, sitting there being a phallus "HEY LOOK AT ME I DONT FIT HAHAHAH") classed before a superb blue chap + silvermail (expected but well-looking), with several well-matching accessories.
This choice made me think... "is this dude colorblind?"
Carrying on to Tough - A dread skelly helmet ( a dusky + cool, light grey helmet) with an arcane salamander suit... with blue PC. Yes the PC is the best for this setup, but... dread skelly helmet isn't exactly great looking on chroma lines. Anyway, besides that. Greys match and all that jazz, however in this case.. just. No. No. Look at how light and blue-green oriented the skelly is, and how dark and violet-dark blue oriented the arcane is. It's just a no-no. Was picked first place.
Second place, a rock jelly helm, on a dread skelly suit. While the colors may match, some helmets and armors are not.. meant to be put together, really. If you look at the picture, you'll notice the knight seems like he's a soldier expecting his sentence for breaking whatever rule , and it's just.. no. Not pleasing to the eye.
The third place, while it may look tough, it's a mercurial helm on ALC. And goggles on said helm. It's nothing spectacular and the cyan on the helm kinda ruins it, but it's okay, however compared to other entries, it shouldn't have made it here. I hate giving myself as example but I have no idea how other participants looked, so.. http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af20/MDCleo100/2012-04-22_00013.jpg (A thought-out use of the steam mask, matching every color on the armor and looking as testosterone-injected as possible)
Yup, I'm not gonna go on. I hope this proves my point. Sorry Blue, but seems like fashion is just not your thing. A single pretty outfit doesn't mean you're a fashion guru.
I'm disappointed certain good costumes people brought in were outshined by... pumpkin bandoliers. It's sad, but kinda funny.
Tho the ones for open were pretty cool and taking that ^ into consideration I'm surprised that an outfit I designed took second place in pretty. I guess certain people look for different things in outfits and maybe what I consider common sense of fashion is my preference... maybe...

Apologizing before telling someone they suck at something isn't any more polite saying it to them straight. I'm actually positively disgusted with how rude your post was.
How is it that you of the many participants, is getting on to complain about the contest, and not just that, complain about it based on an absolutely relative thing. There is no fashion common sense, that's absurd.
Blueknighter deserves a lot better of a "criticism" than that, and now I feel like he deserves an apology on top of that.

I was hoping to get a place with the costume I had reserved for the OPEN catagory, but I'm totally cool with others winning. I know there can be other's unique as me, and it can often be a tough choice to choose, especially for one judge.
That said, I was very proud with that costume I put together, especially ever since I got the heavy helm-mounted display for it. The costume was pretty decked out appropriately with accessories, minus a aura.
I also understand there's a lot of pressure, so no hard feeling, especially since things fell apart. In any case, I'm gonna send my Dragon Commando costume to Spiral Vogue to be checked out.

@Dishly: I thank you for your support, but it's alright, I don't need his apology. I was merely tickled by his insult anyways.
@Obsidious: I apologize for the inconvenience. Maybe in another costume contest, one with less chaos than mine, your costume will earn you a prize. ;)
Oh. I never thought to check if that guy had placed in a different category. He had a pretty good tough entry, if ya ask me. Now I feel dumb. Least I'm not the only one that made that mistake. :p
I do like my purple chap costume, I just like my blue one better, since it's really uniform in colour. I'm still a bit peeved that Ian gave the purple chap a darker plate on the thing, making sure it wouldn't match the Chaos Cloak's plates.
As for you mentioning favoritism, I don't know the guy except in passing. I'd bet my bottom dollar that whoever had my costume did not have my accessories, or at least all of them (cool pipe/side blade [this was before d wings] and a twinkle aura). As I've said the aura fits my name and adds a layer on intrigue to the whole getup. That's why I said I still want one for my dark set (though will probably never get one D:). Not to mention it wasn't Ters that let me past prelim, but Magnus; if you got an issue with me getting in, raise them with him. The only reason I comment is that now you've dragged me into this. :(

I only had to bring this up because I know it happened in the first contest. I apologize for dragging you in to make a point. I did not mean to offend you in any way. And nah, no need to bring up an issue that's in the past now. Just let this debate die. Internet arguments never lead to anything good.

This is the costume I had for the Open Catagory:
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198025026594/screenshot/59584262...
And a side view:
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198025026594/screenshot/59584262...
It's interesting to note that the Heavy Head band, com unit and Helm-mounted display all seem to fit together to make a single head set. i normally try to avoid cluttering my character's helmet with a full set of accessories, especially the front of my mercurial helm, but I found myself pleased when I found the helm-mounted display fit in quite nicely. I'm very personal about my costumes :p.
Then again, who isn't.

Popping in because this just seemed wrong.
--- Yes, in the sense of fashion, the winners for Tough were mismatching. But, that's not what I was looking for.
Woah, woah, WOAH. So, you made a FASHION contest and then you say that you weren't looking to make a fashion contest?
---Ok, you may think your guy is tough, but when have you ever seen a tough guy with a outfit that matches? To give you a better example, when have you ever seen Chuck Norris wear an outfit that has matching accessories?
Yes, I've seen a lot of them. Besides Ters and his actually bad(&#-looking AND matching armors and stuff.
I remember Lou-Cipher from OUR contest, and some other guys, too.
They DID have extremely good matching EVERYTHING and they looked way bad-#$%er.
Tough + Unfitting = sad excuse for a tough-looking guy
---I don't recall him wearing such things, and if he has, go ahead and prove me wrong. Point being, there is nothing tough about wearing a costume that looks fashionable.
That is like saying that there's nothing tough to something that was carefully DESIGNED to be TOUGH.
http://beltway-gamers.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/necrons.jpg This? Tough? NAAAH.
Fashionable =/= pretty cutey derp kawaii desu
Fashionable = Carefully Designed for the said theme.
---Your critique on that Green Tabard with the pumpkin bandolier, I'll allow it, because I will admit that I picked her out of favoritism. She so happens to be a guild mate of mine.
If you can't help your favoritism, don't judge/hold a contest.
---If I recall, I remember seeing that in your first contest, Guyinshinyarmour and another had the same Blue Tabard/Nameless Poncho combo, and Guy so happened to win.
Both of us judged. I don't hold any interesting friendships in SK so there is no favoritism for me.
And, trust me, we don't favorite. We choose by how they look, not by their title, not by their name
PC color can also make a difference, y'know?
---I am rather disappointed in you Tersa. I saw a sudden change within your posts before and after the judging. First, I post up that the event was a disaster, and you come and, as a pal, you try to comfort me. I thank you for that. But then, after the judging, you want to come and humiliate me on my own thread. I do not know if it is because you are a sore loser, or simply because you think you have a better fashion sense than me, but it's a dick move nonetheless.
Not even going there.
TL;DR version: Don't accept the fact that some people might not like your sense? You: 1) Deal with it. 2) Don't organize something. 3) Have at least 1 other judge.
Maybe he was rough, didn't sugarcoat and etc.
But some people are like that, a lot of people are like that irl and you will meet them in even worse ways.
And yes, it was a disaster. You should learn from it instead of using this to get people to comfort you.
---And just to point out, about that fashion guru thing. No... nonononono... no, I'm not a fashion guru. I don't see myself as one, and I didn't create this contest to earn the title as one. Hey, you think a guy who listens to a rap group called *^%##@ By Nature has any sense in fashion? I simply created this contest to add some more fun to a game that's lost value to most of us. My receptions list is composed of veteran players. For the most part, these players have already beaten Vanaduke so many times, beaten all the Shadow Lairs, and completed all the missions. There's nothing left to this game, so I created this contest to add some more fun to this game. They people joined to have fun, and fun they had.
Then ,again, why create a FASHION contest? There are so many other themes you could've chosen.
This way you just put down people that actually put a lot of fashiony effort in their costumes, people who actually have fashion sense and are made for /fashion/ contests.
Imo you could've as well just picked random people and give them the money.
Next time, you should try making a contest that fits with what you're familiar more. Or,for this type of contest, at least have more people to judge, and those people should be people with fashion sense.
And no, no it wasn't fun. It was unorganized, all the noobs screamed like idiots and like, half or more of the population there had no idea what happened.
Like 2 people posted this was fun. That's it, 2-3 people.
This is not to "humiliate" you. This is not to be a jerk to you. This is a lesson and a push towards something better.

How is this not humiliating and being asinine? Don't be ridiculous. I was living under the impression fashion sense would be something that is based on opinion? Criticizing him based on how the contest ran and the results is absolutely absurd.
Blue opened this contest, and seeing as he was the only one judging (AND dishing out awards might I add) shouldn't he have every right to choose whoever the hell he wanted to? Not to mention he didn't CHOOSE to judge alone, he didn't have much of a choice. It really isn't his fault people can't follow instructions and it was rough. He sat through the whole thing and tried to make things as efficient as possible and this is your thanks? Disgusting.
I can't believe this has even become an issue. Take time and appreciate what Blue has done and get the hell out, bros. Seriously. This is so uncalled for.
Your fashion sense doesn't agree with his. So effin' deal with it. Boo flkfl who.
I'm trying so hard not to cuss right now, under normal circumstances you may think I'm related to Popeye.

@Desuchan: Maybe you should just take your own advice.
"Don't accept the fact that some people might not like your sense? You: 1) Deal with it."

"Be excellent to each other. Keep your posts respectful and polite. Disagreement is fine, but scratching, biting, and hair pulling is not allowed."
I'm looking at you Tersakaff and Desuchan.

Tersa and Desu were the only thing I was displeased by in the contest, I couldn't believe the cursing fit that took place. The two brought everyone down by being unprepared for the event and complaining that it was the events fault.
Sorry you didn't make your outfits into loadouts, sorry you didn't pay attention to the important people in chat, sorry you didn't win first place.
Blueknighter specifically posted to not complain about judgements, and is totally right in pointing out your change in attitude after the results were voiced. It blows me away that you can't be grateful with the 1000 CE you got for standing around.

looool
this is getting funny
and jmsa, that didn't happen yet
i do not recall anybody scratching or pulling hair :o edit: however, i do see some personal attacks on blue's side now...
yeah lets just drop it and leave it at the fact that the judging was rushed, more in favor of certain people than others, and *coughcoughfaulty*, however this is not the absolute truth and some people disagree with that statement
i never wanted to argue, however, someone took my original post as insulting and mocking, which it wasn't, however you made it be trough your attitude
sir, i think you are the one who needs to stop taking everything that disagrees with you as insulting
i only said the things i said because i wanted to state my opinion (that several other people share, however they prefer to remain silent), and it just happened to be disagreeing with yours
i used to respect you as a person, however after you acted like a teenage girl whose appearance or outfit were dissed, instead of taking the criticism like an adult, blunt as it is... well that's not gonna earn you lots in life. im serious here, i dont want to keep the session of gentleman-ish pokes in the eye, just end it, however its up to you if you'll keep screaming and crying or take it like an adult.
really, it never was meant as a catfight, but you kinda brought it to that :c i hope you can take this as the mature person you are and accept the fact that some people may disagree with certain things you do, and say that to your face, instead of making more assumptions over people's motivations (i would have disagreed with your judging even without taking part in the contest, as did some people who certainly have more experience in fashion than all of the people taking part in this discussion), etc.
oh and dishly, remember i was not there, and desu controlled both her and my account? imagine how stressful that can get in that confusion. i dont care about winning or prizes, and if i want to state my opinion, then hell you're gonna have to cut me up to stop me.
edit: i just noticed blue's post lmao
SO MORE PAGESTRETCHER ABOUT HOW HE'S A 14 YEAR OLD :D
besides it screaming "BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWQQ YOU DISAGREED WITH ME YOU ARE A FAILURE YOU KNOW NOTHING THIS WAS NOT ABOUT LOOKING GOOD", i'll point out some things...
these things speak for themselves, doesn't take too many neurons to figure :
1."We seem to be forgetting the whole point of this event; to have >fun<."
"host the event to have >FUN<"
"come up with 17.3k CE worth of >prizes<"
2."Stop comparing your event to mine."
"seeing how much fun Tersakoff's costume contest was, I have decided to throw yet another costume contest." (first post)
i think you just punched yourself in the face? :c
warning, personal attacks ahead:
"you should get jobs as real life fashion or art critiques"
>implying we don't
i could be a rockstar from mars and you wouldn't know
i could be anything
i could be the president
"But, apparently, you can't get those jobs"
>implying you know
if that's true then i can say you're an overweight 25 y.o. fatty living with his mom with bad dermatological problems who cannot sell burgers to save his life and it has to be the absolute truth? but i wont because i dont know you. psh, personal attacks are not tolerated i believe. and assumptions are just.. man. really. you're not a detective.
"come here and try to be critiques in a video game"
>implying i cant say that x's outfit sucks and y's rocks
"challenge for both of you"
>implying i care
>implying implying implying
just grow a pair of male reproductive organs man. you're not a 14 year old girl. :/
oh wait you can't, and mine won't allow me to just sit and watch you throw this fecal matter about me and my girlfriend around
so, where's eurydice? im afraid that if she or somebody else doesn't come here soon, blue will start biting me and pulling down my hair while i try to explain to him that he should stop being such a whiny teenager in the most polite way i can.
tl;dr:
stop bawwing jesus baby tears i just disagreed with you
