Create something equivalent to "Strange Parts" in Team Fortress 2

I think it would be cool if there were accessories that could keep track of the amount of damage a weapon has done over its lifetime. They would function like strange parts and strange weapons in TF2. You could even have strange parts to keep track of the highest damage achieved in a game of Lockdown, or the number of times a weapon has killed Lord Vanaduke, Royal Jelly, etc.

If these were part of the regular featured auctions, I would buy them (if they weren't too expensive and didn't expire).

This is Spiral Knights not Spiral Fortress nor Team Knights. If you want something from Team Fortress 2 go to Team Fortress 2.

-1 for another pathetic attempt to mix Spiral Knights with other games just because someone played them and now want this to became same

I would like to keep records of lockdown records and boss run statistics, but why need an accessory on every item you want to keep track of? Accessories for that kind of stuff just seems unnecessary.

Pointless.

We have something called weapon levels for that.
And does it really matter whether a Troika has done 2,000 or 200,000 damage before? It's still a Troika.

I'm agreeing with Asukalan again....

It's not about mixing with other games...

Fundamentally we already have a similar mechanic in-game, and it doesn't make a difference since trading items will reduce their level back to 1 (if I'm not mistaken).
And it's still the same weapon. No need for pointless fussing over how many kills it has made; that depends on the user, not the weapon.

The truth is some... 'people' will pay for it (see the OP) and OOO loves $$$.

Haha, I'm actually surprised that people hate this idea so much.

I think this would be a good crown sink if they were auctioned like other accessories. People wouldn't complain as much about how common Wolver Tails and other accessories were becoming, because these could be auctioned instead.

I don't see the problem with it, and could be a good crown sink if priced appropriately. You all do realize that if he never mentioned TF2 in his post but instead said that he came up with this idea himself then those of you complaining about making SK into another game would have nothing to say right? Opposing an idea because it came from another game is one of the most pointless counterarguments one can make because:

1. Nothing is original, everything in this game is a rehash of another game that came before it. Might as well say that knights shouldn't be able to use swords or be able to PvP because that would mean SK is copying WoW or some other game that uses swords and has PvP.

2. If an idea is good, it shouldn't matter if another game already has it. If it works in SK and is good for SK, why complain about it also being in a different game?

I think this could be a pretty good idea and to encourage people to buy these damage counters what you can do is have these damage counters show up on people's weapons when they are being inspected so others can know just how much damage someone with that counter has done with a particular weapon. Now it is an awesome crown sink.

I would love to see how much times my TSB kills Snarby.
BTW, a guy called Powpowpowpowpowpow posted this.

@ Nodocchi Thank you for

@ Nodocchi

Thank you for your comments. You're the first person to like this idea. =) However, as mentioned in the title of my original post, this idea did, in fact, come from TF2. I've seen that people like the Strange Weapons/Parts in TF2, so I think something similar could be popular here.

You could also have counters for specific classes of enemies. So you could attach an Undead kill/damage counter to your Divine Avenger, and a Slime kill/damage counter to your Gran Faust.

Not too sure about this, either way.

You're catering to a relatively small niche out there, but granted it could be a crownsink.

Though, allow me to reiterate my main grudge against this idea: it's not so much as to how much damage the weapon does, but who uses it and how often they play etc.
Accumulated statistics don't really account for anything besides the fact that "the weapon has been in service for a long time".
Using that logic, I find this suggestion rather redundant. We already have heat (granted that it has a limit).

Although if you can prove to OOO that this niche for "Strange Parts" is large enough to supplement their earnings, then by all means.

You're right Kentard, the

You're right Kentard, the level system does satisfy this to some extent, but these statistics could be more specific. Damage dealt by weapons is just one idea. You could have an accessory on your shield that counts the number of Trojan/Vana smashes it has sustained, or the number of times the shield has been broken, for example.

Totally pointless

But wouldn't mind it if it didn't take OOO to long to code, i would rather them work on somethingg else.

And guys... how the heck can you hate this because the idea came from another game? -_-
Ugh.... nevermind...

@OP:

these statistics could be more specific.
Nah, I'm not particularly interested in seeing how much damage it dealt to beasts, devilites, Vana etc.
I can foresee a counter implemented for weapons (albeit a minor, nearly useless change), but it gets a bit more subjective when it comes to shields and armor - damage blocked does take into account many variables.

Ergo, consider this a +0 from me. Not particularly pertinent, and again you're going to have to convince the devs into this, not me.
