This petition is now focused on EDIT #3. The update is not out yet but it is a known fact that it will come. A "yes, you will redo the character creation" or "no, go eat sweaty manparts" would be appreciated. Also, petitions aren't suggestions, it is an open discussion. I will respect your decision to place it in Suggestions anyway. :)
Whether it is trough some kind of special ticket or a new NPC allowing one change, we deserve to do it too.
Please post here if you support this idea, let's show OOO we want it, however, politely.
EDIT: As of the patch on 9 May, new content, important story missions have been added to the rescue camp, and we do not have access to them on our main knights. Added to the petition. As I have said in a post, I will not let this thread die until we get a clear response.
EDIT #2: I feel like I should include this here. So, let's say OOO finally listens and does this.. BUT, in the initial creation, we wouldn't have the option to change to special eyes, or XT/XS heights, and we're sure nobody would want to lose theirs in favor of a regular set of eyes and height. So what I'm proposing to fix this, is a series of special tickets:
- One that brings you back to the rescue camp to do your missions. In your gear, nothing's changed.
- One that allows you to change your height, and eyes, basically redoing the creation process entirely.
- One that allows you to redo the creation process, BUT, your eyes and height are locked to your current ones. (this is for changing and accessorizing your proto)
I believe name changes are pretty hard to do/impossible so our names would be locked. vmv
Or if the latter is impossible, just mail us a ticket to the special eyes and heights we had after we redo the normal creation process. :P Bound ofc.
EDIT #3: I have been informed that there is new proto armor coming up soon, from the Test Server. Now that would be EXCLUSIVE to new knights. Accessories, heights and such are one thing, we can buy them. But wholly new exclusive proto is something completely else because no amount of cr can buy it. If old knights don't get to redo the creation, I can only weep and mourn to what will the forums be and the amount of pure disappointment. For those of you who dont know, there are new proto styles, like the flack jacket, draped armor, round helmet and crescent helmet that were featured on the test server.

I left WoW since it mostly targeted end-game content players. My main was level 82 & I just couldn't stand that community any longer. But it's why Blizzard is a very successful company & also why when I came back to Spiral Knights in November as Hector-Uribe & Kitty-Softpaws rather than my last account who was @ end-game content with lots of 5* equipment; there just wouldn't be anything to keep me playing if I did come back to that account. The work of reaching 5* & things of wantedness & testingness of weapons & gear was that thrill that kept me in-game since there's not much to look forward to in neither the lame AH & end-game except farm in-game money.
Not to mention how easy it's becoming thanks to so many nerfs. I better see more Gauntlet type of content in later content. I miss those days around April - June when the game was hard as hell BUT I do not miss the lag so MEHH.

Make it so that after a reboot, everyone goes to their player creation module. For those with extra tall or extra short, they get a height modification in their inventory.
OR
- Use an NPC interface for ppl to make it elective.
- Put it in town square for 2 weeks.
- I know you've done trade in's in the missions with the hot edge and frost gun, so you can do a trade in for your old proto gear for new.
- For accessories, you could transfer them in the same way that accessories are moved to transmuted items upon upgrade.

Hah. The second the eyes and height came out before the interface change sealed the deal. There's no way they'd bother retroactively allowing people to do this. Sure, there's a pretty damn simple solution to it, but by god they can't do that now can they. No, they'd rather stick with this idiotic "useable item" way of applying base character changes instead of funneling everything through a central menu.
I'm kinda pissed from just a design perspective. You could still bleed us by having us pay for changes through said menu, but no. We must make it convoluted despite already having the menu coded. Tweak the background to acknowledge that we're not in the Rescue Camp anymore, throw in some payment trigger on confirmation depending on all you've changed, and tada. We could even change proto gear then.
I'm beginning to think the reason we have so few playable content updates is because the back end is as poorly put together as this whole mess.

A ticket (That's bound and untradable) that allows you to redo your default character. (You lose your original stuff to make it fair) sounds fair.

Just made a new char to try it out. You get:
- short, reg or tall height.
- a top of head accessory: maid headband or bolted (or wide dunno which) vee
- a side head accessory: the headphones, the robot single eyepiece (helm mounted display), mech wings (?) and the single antenna (comm unit)
- or a plume or ribbon
- the three eyes in the featured menu of the market place, happy, normal, almond and another one
So nothing super cool, and none of the nicest eyes, heights or accessories.

I support this, but it's not going to happen. Know why? Two reasons.
1. There is no system in place to change specs on your character, which means OOO would need to design a completely new system to do so.
2. Designing a completely new system to allow for this - free - change won't generate any profit for OOO, but there are (perhaps) considerable expenses associated with designing the new system in the point above.
Expenses + zero profit = no re-spec.
BUT, know what they CAN do? They CAN make the vendor sell the height change FOR FREE for a limited period of time. What's the excuse then? Well, there isn't a good one. They probably just want you to play the game and/or spend money, so they just refuse to do it (profits > customer service). Beside, a simple logistics analysis would probably show that almost no one is going to quit playing the game if they don't give it away for free anyway.

Or, we could have been mailed a set of modifier items that bind to user, packaged as some "weird science" that the supply depot has been tinkering with that expire 48h after log in. All of this functionality exists or has been used with items / tokens.
Same thing could have been done with the personal color selection when that was launched.
I disagree with being able to change our starting armor or helmet - we all either knowingly or not - thought what we picked were the best options when we created our characters. A new player today is at the same advantage / disadvantage of not knowing what is cool or will look good with accessories etc.
A little good will goes a long ways. $piral Knight$ is not the game I want to play.

Current Knights should get a one time upgrade option, at no cost, that is the same as you get when creating a new character. Extra small/large or any other special modifiers would still only be available in mirrored lockboxes.

Players that already have characters should:
- be able to change height to short or tall, once
- be able to change eyes to one of those 3 options in character creation, once
- be able to chose two acessories from those 6 options in character creation, once
for that to be done, there's no need to generate a new interface...this could be done through other methods, like mailing...or some vendor that gives away the items, but have only 1 of each for each player (sorta like Basil has only one of each recipe)
It's pretty unfair that new players now get to change eyes/height and get an acessory for completely free...and us, loyal old players have to pay over 100k crowns to be able to do the same
