Blaster Line Variant! Nail Gun and Pneumatic Nail Gun!

Every standard issue Cobalt gear seems to have SOME kind of alternate alchemy path to split from...save for the Blaster line. Poor fellow, so unused and unloved, and for such an interestin' design of guns, too! So what do? MAKE an alchemy line for it, of course! Introducing yet ANOTHER idea from my giant chest of not-too-bad ideas, I present the NAIL GUN LINE

http://gyazo.com/b4ce2d18e85582e45b118e941708118d

This line deviates from the Super Blaster, turning the beloved sidearm into a beloved tool!

4* Variant
Nail Gun
http://gyazo.com/e6e6a15fe3fce7a94886f194696cde99
-"Modified from a Super Blaster, this gun has been known to really stick it to their targets - with it being very sharp and precise nails."

5* Variant
Pneumatic Nail Gun
http://gyazo.com/ee1330f39a763757a7addd4451670279
-"The perfect gun for gun and tool enthusiasts, it gives the best of both worlds and gives monsters a world of hurt."

People want a more mobile piercing gun, Blaster line could use some love, and then it had hit me: NAIL GUNS.

EDIT: ALSO ONE MORE

1* Weapon
Nail Shot
http://oi47.tinypic.com/330v0xg.jpg
-"Once thought to only be useful in construction projects, builders were ecstatic that they could construct dead Wolvers with this baby."

This one would be it's own standalone weapon, and would definitely fit in better with the other "tools as weapons" that populates Tier 1. If there's ANYTHING I'd like to see taken outta this suggestion, it'd be this.

You forgot a little detail: all weapons derived from those basic lines maitain a normal damage. Your argument is now invalid.

Blaster + Antigua ?

Is this just Blaster with pierce or is there a new mechanic?

Yes to having a new pierce gun, maybe to using the standard (Proto, Blaster) mechanic; then again Blaster is the only upgrade line using standard in terms of gun mechanic.

I'd buy them.

Do it. It's better then that stupid snarby gun idea. This would be a good replacement for the "antigua 5 star" line people want.

It's Not always the case.

It's Not always the case. Just because weapons in one branched family stay the same damage, doesn't mean a new damage type cannot be introduced. Antigua changes from Piercing, and Sealed Sword changes from Normal, Autogun has TWO piercing lines and one normal line, the Cutter series has NO piercing lines, etc and etc. Fight da POWAH.

@Luguiru
The mechanics will be the same as the standard Blaster; the only difference being that it will fire nails, and will deal piercing. This mechanic is rarely used, only really being used by the various status-dealing Blasters that don't go above 1*s. The mechanic is then simply unique to the Blaster line, which itself is rarely used due to other guns outclassing it in function. This idea gives more use to the Blaster's mechanics, along with give people a mobile piercing gun that is NOT a Snarbolax gun. I love the idea of a Snarby gun, but the amount of Snarbolax-themed items is getting a bit outta hand, and I'd like for there to be more variety available for gunners than just "AP, SENT, AND SNARBGUN," all of which would hypothetically function the same, but with different damage types. That, and I'd like to give the Valiance model some more use, since it's a good lookin' model.

@Aquasword
All pluses, no matter the number, are welcome! Some criticism would ALSO be welcomed, though.

@Fehzor
Nailer is a term used for, as you would guess, a nail gun. Power Nailer is a name for a certain type of nail gun. The more ya know!

@Quotefanboy
As interesting as the Snarb Antigua idea would be, I'd prefer it if there was more variety in the weapons in the game. What fun is there to have one guy runnin' around with recolored guns with different damages? NO FUN, is what! That's why there's no piercing Brandish line.

I like the valiance, and this would be a nice, fresh addition to the gun line. I do have a concern though: the valiance has a rather high base damage in comparison to other guns for having a 3 shot clip. If this gun were to have the same base damage, It might deal crazy damage in comparison to other guns...

@Trollingyou

I had changed the graphics of the stats to show that, as a tradeoff of dealing piercing damage, the Nailer line should do less damage than it's respective Master Blaster/Valiance counterparts.

the name could use a lil work, but otherwise, yeah we need this

No. It's pretty much a blaster and a Magnus. And what you showed for damage had no normal damage at all. Your saying it has normal damage with it, when you didn't even look at the stats you posted. Plus what is the point of another piercing gun? There is enough already. Almirian and heater shield still have normal damage, so really u failed to prove your point.

Bild des Benutzers Alpha-Stevo

@Hyiaku

No where in my posts did I say that this weapon deals Normal damage.

The point is to make a piercing gun that's not too shabby on dodging enemies, such as Devilites and Wolvers. It's more mobile than either of the two piercing options, and goes up to five stars, unlike the Antigua. To say there's 'too many piercing guns' is a HUGE understatement. There are currently three Piercing 5 star lines; The Plague Needle, Blitz Needle, and Callahan. That as many as the Shadow 5 star guns (Sentenza, Biohazard, Umbra Driver), and don't even get me STARTED about Elemental 5 star guns (Magma Driver, Hail Driver, Storm Driver, Nova Driver, Polaris, Argent Peacemaker). Not only that, but the Shadow and Elemental guns also have their own unique mechanics for at least 3 of their weapons, while the Piercing guns only have two different mechanics, due to Plague Needle being a Blitz Needle with poison slapped on.

It continues the tradition of the standard-issue Cobalt set getting sidegrades, whilst deconstructing tradition by making it completely unrelated to Normal damage. No one ever said we had to follow non-existent trends with preestablished weapons, but no one said we couldn't. So I did BOTH.

Also, I threw in Nail Gun up there, just to get some PIERCING WEAPONS in Tier 1 Clockworks/Lockdown.

@Hyiaku

"No. It's pretty much a blaster and a Magnus"

Well DUH, it's supposed to be pretty much a blaster, seeing as it comes off that line. And how is it anything like a Magnus, apart from the damage type? What, do you have a problem with the Cold Iron Vanquisher, seeing as it's pretty much a Leviathan Blade with an undead bonus, and the Irontech/Deconstructor/Big Angry Bomb, which are pretty much Nitronomes?
Why can't weapons be similar to other weapons?

"Your saying it has normal damage with it"

No he didn't, he didn't say that anywhere.

"Plus what is the point of another piercing gun? There is enough already"

You've failed to see the point, have you ever been a gunner? There is only the Blitz and the Magnus. How is that "Enough piercing guns", it's only two. Not to mention both of those guns you must stand still in order to fire, while all other damage type guns (3 normal excluding Slug and Pepperbox, 3 shadow, and 3 elemental) allow you to move while firing

"Almirian and heater shield still have normal damage, so really u failed to prove your point."

Nope, he proved his point just fine.

Firstly, Almirian and Heater shield are armors and shields, which are different, mechanics-wise, to weapons.

Secondly, Almirians special defense changes from piercing to shadow, and Heater Shields special defense changes from piercing to elemental, both obtaining stat resistance alterations.
The one thing that stays the same is the Base defense, which is normal.
Blaster's damage type will change from normal to piercing
The one thing that stays the same is the style of attack, which is a three shot with movement speed reduction
See the similarities between the branchoffs?

I can prove this logic is correct because you can carry it across to other equipment lines.
Magic line goes from Normal/Elemental to Shadow/Elemental with the Divine branch, while retaining the original elemental defense and stat resist, also gains an offensive bonus and a new stat resist
Autogun line goes from Normal to Piercing while retaining the original attack style, and also may gain a new stat, depending on which line it takes.

Plate line goes from Normal/Piercing to Normal/Elemental with the Volcanic branch, while retaining the original normal defense, ASD penalty and stun resist, while gaining a new status resist.
Troika line goes from stun causing to freeze causing with the Triglav branch, while retaining the original attack style and damage.

One add-on thing is always traded off while the core of the equipment is kept.
In the case of Armor, it's usually a set purpose like status resist, perhaps a certain defense, or an offensive bonus.
In the case of Weapons, it's usually the attack and charge style of the weapon that stays the same, while the type, status and damage are free to change.

Thirdly, only melee weapons deal split normal damage. Spiral Knights physics states that projectiles will always deal pure damage of their type, while bombs are a little wishy-washy because of how they operate.
