Water Element and Sleep Attribute Weapons

Owlright :3 now for longest time ive wanted to have Water element and Sleep attribute weapons and here are my reasons :P..the description of the Leviathan Blade and its very title hint that it should have an Elemental Damage and that damage being water of course....why name it the Leviathan a great sea creature and all this talk about how its blows rain down like a tsunami when it has no element?....now of course not many can think of how the Water Element works except for a few things ill give some suggestions here for what a Leviathan Blade or another sword, gun,or bomb could do with the status affliction...1. Weaken the target's defenses, attack power,or speed by reducing movement speed by 1/2 for the extra weight of being wet 2. Trap inside a Bubble leaving the person not only immobile for a certain amount of seconds but susceptible for double damage from Lightning or as we call it on here "Shock" and after additional damage is done then the bubble is popped leaving the poor soul free to move XDDD 3. AH! just thought of this the bubble could cause a drowning effect that saps health but lets see...hmmm another could just be the ability to flow rippling torrents in the blade to augment cutting strength..as one can see my thought process is quite awesome and unique sooo lets move on to the Sleep!!!...okae so Sleep attribute weapons why would that be badass? well think of it this way if you can lull some monsters to sleep with your attacks wouldnt it be a big relief to know they can't do a thing? "A truly rare blade forged in the depths of the Unknown Passage, this counterpart of the DA and GF is particularly deadly for it drags you into the deepest of sleep to leave you defenseless for the nightmare to follow" XDDD yeah something like that and it doesn't have to be in the Unknown Passage just thinking random here...Vana sure would be much easier to manage dont you think? Water vs Fire? (i hate fire so thats another reason on the side >.>)

hahahaha!!! anyway before i ramble on let me know what you all think about the idea :P

Here is what I (and others) think.

A water related status has been suggested in the past. The problem with the concept is balancing it against other statuses we already have and keeping it its own status.

The sword, Leviathan, has knockback on the charge which can blast a decently sized crowd of enemies away from the user. The weapon description is as follows:

"A rare treasure of the Spiral Order, the blows from this mythical sword are said to rain down upon its victims like the water from a tidal wave. "

It makes "tidal waves", such as the knockback on the spin which sweeps enemies away with swift motion. There is no mention of a status or relevancy to element damage, which is supposedly based on nature and/or machinery. Your argument is invalid.

Leviathan is a Cobalt set weapon, the other two being Valiance and Nitronome. Your argument is yet again invalid.

I have to quote the "water" status effects proposed because of how derpily they are organized.

"1. AH! just thought of this the bubble could cause a drowning effect that saps health but lets see...hmmm another could just be the ability to flow rippling torrents in the blade to augment cutting strength..as one can see my thought process is quite awesome and unique "

The first part reduces the defense and attack ability of the target by half. That is more than what poison does already. The same part also halves movement speed, rendering stun also useless. The first of three parts alone already overpowers two statuses.

The second part would make shock overpowered and imitates freeze but removes the chance to thaw to freedom. That makes it overpower three statuses and make one overpowered.

The third part incorporates damage over time, such as what fire already does, or gives the weapon itself further damage bonuses. This "water" status overpowers fire, freeze, poison, and stun. Throw it out.

Wait a derp.

"my thought process is quite awesome and unique"
It is not unique at all. There is nothing "awesome" about making something obviously overpowered in every way.

Before continuing to the sleep section of this abomination, I have to point something out: only when sleep is balanced can it be reintroduced into the game. That means absolutely nothing referring to sleep may be proposed unless you can balance sleep status. No excuses. No whining. No savannah animals in the house. If sleep is not balanced then any proposals using it are automatically invalid because it uses something unapplicable. Since you appear to have no idea how balancing works and there is no weapon mechanic description other than it imitates Sealed lines the last point of your proposal is invalid.

This entire thread is invalid.

I've actually just come up

I've actually just come up with my own version of a water status that I find fairly balanced, but I don't want to make another thread for it. OP, it's your lucky day, imma try to revalidate your thread.

So, the idea is this:

It shall be a status that loosely imitates the effects of a current. Any target inflicted by it will slowly be dragged away from the source of the status. If the mob is standing still, it will be slowly pulled back, imitating an undertow. If the target moves towards the source, it would either slow down to about stun-level speed, maybe lower, possibly just stop. The flipside is that if the target's speed would increase slightly if it moves away from the source. A possible source of this could be Leviathan Blade, partially because the name and description are perfect and partially because of it's charge. "A rare treasure of the Spiral Order, the blows from this mythical sword are said to rain down upon its victims like the water from a tidal wave". Tidal waves don't just stop, all that water has to go somewhere and you typically end up with a terrible rip current. Higher levels of the status can increase the duration and speed, but not too fast (I don't want to turn this into Pulsar: The Status). It works with the other statuses that either damage, immobilize, or support, making it something off the other spectrum of immobility. Targets retain their normal attack speed, abilities, etc., but are hampered that most attacks just wont quite hit. Another possibility could be to reverse the suction and move the targets towards the source, something like a slow vortex or old Pepperbox. Logistically, it works better with what water actually does. Water doesn't form pretty bubbles or make convenient designs. All water really does is move. A lot. And I feel this captures that fairly well.
Obviously, I haven't worked out the very nitty grittiest bits yet like effectiveness in PvP and whatnot, but that's what this this forum is for. So, what do you guys think? Got any holes to tear through it? Should I make this its own thread? Have any suggestions to make or things to add? I'm open to anything.

Water cycling

Sounds like a multiple affliction but weaker version of this, but more widespread with more mild effects.

The current thread hanged itself at "my thought process is quite awesome and unique", but I will still link the above water flow concept for science.
