Bombers greatly need something besides just Elemental defense. Mad Bomber, Volcanic Demo, Bombastic, and Mercurial Demo all have Elemental defense.

I suggest turning the least used of the bomber armors, Bombastic Demo and Mercurial Demo, into Piercing defense and Shadow defense. Also giving Mercurial Demo medium damage bonus on both pieces so it is not useless... medium between the 2 is a joke and movement bonus means nothing as it doesn't increase your movement speed enough to mean anything.

Very high damage bonus is way too pro with shock resist which Mecurial set provide (just image it with normal/piercing - seems overpowered).. and Bombastic set will lose in popularity.
I agree with various defence types.

There's no need to do

There's no need to do anything about Mercurial. Right now it's theoretically capable of giving bombers max bonus on both CTR and Damage between trinkets and UVs and in addition it gives MSI. If it just gave MSI and medium damage per piece it'd put Bombtastic completely out of a job.

I'd like to see the Bomber armour defence go a little something like this:

Volcanic has Normal/Elemental with Fire resists, just like Vog Cub.
Bombtastic has Normal/Piercing with Freeze resists, just like Skolver.
Mad Bomber has Elemental/Shadow with negative resists just li- No normal defence? That's MADN- oh I see.
Mercurial would probably just stay Normal/Elemental with Shock.

Bombastic is useless anyway, when it comes to Bombs CTR is far more important than damage. Only reason Mercurial is really that popular is because it's one of the few (if not the only) items that increase(s) movement speed.

I'd say up Mercurial to Normal and Bombastic to High.

Useless implies (and in fact it's right there in the word!) that Bombtastic has no use whatsoever. This isn't so. One could:
-Have CTR Very High on all the bombs they use.
-Use CTR trinkets (there's also damage trinkets though, but maybe one wants the freeze bonus such as when fighting Ice Queen.)
-Be a recon in Lockdown and as such already have max CTR right there.
-Use a Dark Redemption where I think damage will have the most impact due to it's Damage-over-Time nature.
-Only use bombs as an opener in battles, making CTR irrelevant. (Though in this case armour that gives boosts to what you regularly use would serve better).

Mercurial demo having shadow or piercing defense doesn't really make sense to me since its a suit charged with electricity. Mad bomber seems like the Armour that should have shadow defense with bombastic having piercing defense. I rarely use Mercurial Demo as non-costume armour over Mad bomber set or volcanic due to its bonuses seeming to be less than useful to me.

A completely different design type to add more variety to bomber sets, i'm not a bomber but they all seem to look pretty much the same to me with subtle changes as of current times.

That would ruin the suit's potential for max CTR + DMG. This suit was very specifically designed for having the highest potential out of all the bomber suits. Just being behind a ~3500 CE paywall should give an indication that it's not meant for stingy players but for those who put time and resources into trinket slots and UV-rolling.

That would work also and would make Bombastic more useful as it would give bombers a Piercing defense set.
