[LD] Bombs: Parting Gift!

Once a bomb is fully charged, it can't be put away. It can't be dropped or switched; it has to go off. Except when you die, suddenly it just shuts down. Hell, even if you die AS you drop the bomb, it still just shuts down completely.
What I propose is simply allowing fully charged bombs to be dropped as normal when the bomber dies instead of just turning them off. It's far too common to see bombs be cancelled even after they've been dropped, because the bomber dies right as they drop them. And ofc, in LD, bombers really do need a buff, especially after RSS was robbed of us and dps bombers in LD are essentially extinct/far more effort than they're even worth anymore.
This won't be a solid "buff" as such, but would give bombers just that last stand, something to leave behind after they're mercilessly killed, but without actually OPing them to any degree, especially since charge times leave you with no invinci frames, and bombers are essentially 75% charge time..
Ofc, this'd be nice to see in the CW as well, as the same problem occurs, just far less frequently.

I recall dropping a few blast bombs right before I would die, fuse expires before the strikers clear it's radius due to the sheer amount of effort they had to put into killing me.
OOO puts this in? I'll pull out bombs all the time in LD just for troll factor.

I'm pretty sure this would be a lot like the 'martyrdom' feature in the Call of Duty series.

Why the heck not? It makes sense, it's an incredible way to troll people and bombers having the ability to revenge-kill just seems like a neat lil buff to them, which may or may not be necessary. Plus, they can give the horde that has cornered them a last sploding present.

It is a feature available in more games than CoD, and is a common, obvious strategy that suits only bombs. Swordies get killed, they can't do anything. A bomber/grenadier gets killed; the last thing he does is trigger a bomb to catch anyone else. Now I'm not suggesting whatever bomb you have just be dropped for free otherwise suicide bombers would become all too unfair, especially when attacking your home CP; I'm only suggesting that already fully charged bombs be allowed to drop. Also, since most bombers are support hazers, it won't become a sudden massive way to get post-death kills as much as it'll just be one last ditch attempt to stop the opponent walking into a CP you were trying to protect.

Considering that Bombers seem under-utilized, I say this is a great idea. It would work best as Darkbrady proposes.

but i agree with the op's suggestion. i never see any bombers in LD, so this would be a great and balanced fun factor in the game.

Die drop = no
Die already dropped = continue

Martyrdom doesn't even affect you unless you kill people at close range (aka instakill knife). Why aren't instakill knives seen as a cheap way to get a kill?
In Lockdown, bombs are supposed to be the counter to swords, and this suggestion would emphasize that slightly.

Oh so very slightly. DPS bombs would have to rely heavily on the killer being slow/careless to get hit (and not necessarily killed). I view it more as a way to drop one final haze in the middle of a CP and give your team a few extra seconds to catch up, after your death, as opposed to you dying, your bomb being cancelled and them taking the CP before anyone even gets near you.

Buuuump, I'm serious about this! Bombers need more stuff, this'd be a nice start; c'mon Devs! :D

NO and Blast Network is not an escuse for bombing in the game. The final drop WHEN CHARGED will be an encouragement to make haze bombs (or other). SO this will hopefully make Lock Down a place where we all have fun sobombs will also give a part to the Rocket spammers, Pulsar Spammers and Flourish/Snarble Barb line (toothpicks). Lock down then would be a better place.

Or better yet- have the user drop a bomb regardless of whether it is charged. That would also boost hybridity on things like strikers... going to die? Pull out your big angry bomb, or your voltaic tempest.... though less class specific, it could help things immensely.

In Call of Duty, Martyrdom didn't see much use from my part. (Mostly because I prefer Black Ops, which doesn't even have it.) In this game, it seems like a neat idea and I do support the idea.

In my opinion, the only reason bombers sort of got nerfed was that RSS fix.
Now they are trolling like heck by going guardian.

There's just somethin' about it that feels right in SK/LD. You kinda feel like you got cheated that a wee final bomb sittin' on the CP over your corpse makes up a bit for it. Just a wee bit! :D

This is a VERY good idea... It's frustating that any toothpick duskie/skolvie can get a jump on you and simply kill you without even getting harmed.
Another thing... Interruption by shock should also drop the bomb. Would still make shock useful against bombers, but... Cmon, I get the feeling bombers are hated by everyone, even by OOO. Lets give bombers more love!!

Aye, bombers need some of that uncalled for love that Brandishes got so many moons ago. A huge, pointless buf like that might actually make bombs....compare to other stuff! O:

Exactly, and thanks to UV locking and absence of invinci frames when charging, it's entirely possible for players to simply walk up to a bomber and kill them w/o having a hope in hell. This won't solve that problem at all, but it'll at least leave something behind to deter other baddies or inflict something on that cheeky UVd fellah~
