I've started writing my first piece of lulz on the internets, and it was going good until my 'superiors' cracked down on my unsafe operation. (Their logic is that any kind of social media [including this] is incredibly time-consuming and wasteful - but that's not my point [at least for now.]) Because of this I have been forced to go undercover; I will now mail my chapters to a certain friend of mine who will post them on this very thread for me. So don't worry, 'cause this thread won't go down without a fight!

in addition to the above announcement...

I shall be taking up 3 characters submitted by you - no OP, and make sure your candidate makes SENSE. The three potential ones joining the fray won't be forgotten, although I can say that they won't be in the first couple of chapters due to the fact that I already have an abundant pool of chars. to play around with anyway. Again, accepting character requests (or whatever they were called) and will accept only 3 total, so start making something up. Cheerio!

Huh...

Okay, I'm making an app without even thinking it over :P

~~~
Name: Sophia Lupenburg
Bio: A female Geo Knight who only just returned to active duty in the Clockworks. In her past history, she was a Knight in the main army of the Order. She was then later carried over to the Intelligence Branch for her skill in translating languages and her curiosity about the indigenous populations in Cradle. Consequently, she was sent to stay at Emberlight for about half a year, working with the locals to open businesses and services for both Gremlins and the Knights. After working at the Emberlight Orphanage, she was allowed to leave the Intelligence Branch and go back to the military part of the Order. Although a bit rusty with her guns, she is ready to back into active duty.
~~~

Loadout & Costumes:

Loadout: Shadowsun Set, Sentenza, Volcanic Pepperbox, Wise Owlite Shield

Costume: Azure Guardian armor (Toasty Canteen), Fancy Spiral Tailed Helm (Almond Eyes, Fancy Ribbon, Hallow Glasses). Personal color: Violet.

~~~
Personality: A bright, cheery soul who doesn't mind to talk a bit more than she should. Her time being spent as a civilian has made her change her ways. She struggles to fight, and will absolutely refuse to attack Gremlins. However, she can still shoot a perfect bull's eye with a quick draw.
hrmm...
I'll mull this over. Sounds good - I just may use one of her traits to put her in a hard situation sometime. Cograts on being the first applicant, by the way.
Jakuras
Name: Jakuras
Appearance: green color, extra short height, sad eyes
Loadout: fused demo helm with military helm guards, military spiral flak jacket with fancy bomb bandolier (blast bombs) & military vitakit, great defender, super blast bombs, super blaster
Function: Skylark helmsman
Bio: Jakuras (or "Jak" as his friends call him) used to be a helmsman (pilot) aboard the Skylark before the crash. Because of his small stature and evasion skills, Spiral HQ has recruited him to perform recon duties. He's a shy little guy, and has developed a stuttering problem ever since the crash. He may not be very personable, but he tries to be kind to whoever he meets, and always regrets it whenever he kills a living creature.
He is allergic to snipes, a terrible swordsman, and a big fan of Blast Network.
Edit: changes made as advised. :)
bomberman, eh?
Dang, it's only been about an hour, and I've already got 2 slots (almost) filled up. Your guy looks good, but the whole flying pod thing is a bit... off with how we got spiral knights - maybe revise that part. For example, you could put that extra short height to use. I see stealth here... <_<
As of now, there are still 3 pending spots, and you lot have only 3 more days to fill'em in, so start weaving some yarns! DOUBLE TIME.
Curiously...
I'm usually a swordsman myself, but I think bombers are underused hero figures. With a little imagination, they can do amazing things in a story.
I put the pod in the bio because a grounded pilot is not operating in his strongest suite. A story of adaption would be fun, though, so I'm not adverse to taking the pod out.
Challenge..? Nope, none here.
@Seatus: I really hope you don't mind my using your characters in my story. They're quite the critical component, I'd say.
@Thinslayer: I see your point now. Hrmm... Now that I think of it, a flying pod isn't so bad... Anyway, you'll see if your character has been added to the fray this Friday. Same goes for you too, Vinny.
If you use other fanfictions to fill content for your own be sure to link them and credit the original author and make it clear that you are using content from other threads. Otherwise it would seem like you copied other people from lack of your own creativity. Not a big deal to do but it helps readers get into the story better without feeling uncomfortable as if they were naked in a kindergarten. Unless they are into that sort of thing. People are weird.
Anyway, back to whatever the liquids I was doing. Scratching my face with a lobster named Walrus. Yes. I mean no. Someone please help.
But of course
By the time I start, I will have organized a whole paragraph that explains the inclusion of material from the storylines of both Seatus and Knight of Vanduke.
@Seatus: Actually, I have already read all of the current chapters in your story, and am waiting for the next one. So, yes, I'm well acquainted with your lot. In fact, I may do some rereading in order to stay on top of my game. ^_^
Surprise surprise!
The all-new fictional story (derp, all stories are fictitious) by yours truly, THE SPIRAL CONSPIRACY is out early! This new series will borrow elements from the fanfics of both Seatus and Topoyozada (now Knight-of-vanduke), so expect some relatability. It focuses on the mysterious backstory (another one?) behind all the plot holes and nonsense of SK lore.
Now then.
BANG-A-LANG
THE SPIRAL CONSPIRACY, THE CONSPIRACY TO END ALL CONSPIRACIES!
Characters:
Azon - The man behind it all. Currently his plans are shrouded in mystery, though he plans to make his plans very successful plans - when they are needed, of course. He's actually a veteran knight, though he left the Spiral Order some time ago in order to pursue his own goals... and unsurprisingly enough, seemingly disappeared into thin air. Although going on in age, this warrior is a force to be reckoned with. And when the time comes to finally reveal his true intentions, even the great Feron himself shall be trembling in his boots... along with the several million Knights already serving the Spiral Order.
Qwerty Uiop (nickname: Quest) - (name comes from the novel The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear) - A relatively new member of the order, this quirky knight has already shown enough skill (as a swordsman) to belie his queer name - in fact, he has recently been to Spiral Security and has added "Quest" to his name in order to be taken more seriously. Aside from that, on a recent expedition he went on to get the "Cradle and All" merit badge, Quest stumbled across a relatively untouched recon module while in the Core terminal... and it doesn't look like any other he has seen yet.
Sophia Lupenberg (courtesy of Vinnydime!) - As described above, a female knight who has quite the fondness for Gremlins after having lived with them for quite some time. A valuable asset (as a gunner) to any team, she can hold her own with a myriad array of sidearms, though any Gremlin crossing her way will be an unlikely target in her line of fire.
Jakuras, AKA Jak (also jokingly called "Jakintosh" by his peers because of the great deal of tech he handled while on the Skylark.): Formerly the [abnormally short] helmsman of the Skylark, he developed some speech impediments after the famed vessel crashed. He has proved himself as a worthy member though, and is currently the best recon knight in the Order due to his small stature and [slight] inability to talk (in other words, make noise.) Owing to his love for explosive entertainment, Jakuras is both a fan and an experienced player of Blast Network (got crowned as the Blast Baron by King Krogmo himself after taking down five knights in BN single handedly.) Also [unfortunately] allergic to the adorable Snipes we all know and love.
Kryon: An accomplished swordsman from the warm plains of Ilmire, this knight grew in the footsteps of his father (a blacksmith), and developed various machines to ease the inhabitants of his village after collaborating with an unknown knight. These were later developed into the Iceburst Brandish, Cryotech Alchemer, etc. by the latter knight. Kryon later went on to introduce these tools to the Order, and got accepted into it along with his friend. They later went on to invent more frost related devices, eventually making the Knight equivalent of what we know as refrigerators and antifreeze, among other things. Aside from tinkering, Kryon also enjoys playing LD as much as Jakintosh likes to play BN. Consequently, Kryon is well-versed with any freeze related weapon, tool, etc. even if it isn't a sword. (He is, in fact, better than Jak is with the Shivermist Buster.)
And then the usual members of the order, such as Feron, Ozlo, Kora, Kozma, and then some.
No events in this series are real. Any event in the story that is coincidentally connected to one in real life is only accidentally coincidental.
Credit goes to Seatus for letting me use his storyline, and if Knight of Vanduke permits, to him too.
And that's it for the intro. Heh, the REAL thing is coming tomorrow! Happy early April Fools!
Aha! Now to clear things up...
Just a list of small updates...
->Azon's full name is Azamon, (a respelling of Amazon.)
->The unknown knight who collaborated with Kryon is called KYPO, a character made by Asianicicle-Two [in the Spiralstory - Rising thread.] Thanks for the idea, Icicle.
->Due to Sophia Lupenburg having such a tiny bio compared to the other characters I have listed so far, I shall deepen her part in the story, and add another feminine figure so as not to offend the other half of my potential audience. My regards to you all.
So long for today, peeps - be ready for my groundbreaking chapter.
The Spiral Conspiracy//: Recon Module One
"You awake?"
"Uh..."
The voice repeated itself.
"You awake?"
"U-"
It returned, more forcefully this time.
"Hey, you dolt, just wake up now! We just finished off the little Snarbo, see?"
"We did?" The dazed knight sat up now, rapt with attention.
"Of course we did, snarbo spit, or else how would we be on this lift now?" The speaker paused. "Come on, Aria, Ozlo didn't sign you up as a recruit for the Ω squad for nothing."
Aria went the color of her custom-colored Heavy Demo set, realizing her slowness. Then again, she had just woken up from a bonk to the head. "Sorry, Kryon, I'll try to pull my own weight next time."
"You better," Kryon warned, "the big O didn't make us go on four boss runs in a row for nothing. Now, you gotta show your stuff, or we won't be able to turn that Jelly King into some jam."
Aria nodded, determined to be ready for the next mission. As the lift went on, she reflected upon the fast-paced life she had been leading for the past few weeks. After landing on Cradle like all the other ones, she met up with Rendon, who after saw the new Knight's explosive capabilities, referred her to Ozlo, who consequently made Aria go through a bomb- based obstacle course, thence pitting her against 2 other knights in Blast Network. Surprisingly enough, she put on a great display, taking down the first two knights for three rounds straight. Seeing that this was no ordinary recruit, the big O placed her in one of the most prestigious squads - which was of course, the Ω squad. After that it had just been lots of training for a few days at a time, then a boss run to evaluate her weekly performance. This was of course, done by their squad leader's (Kryon) philosophy of "Drill and kill."
She was suddenly shaken back to her senses with the elevator's return to the surface at the Arcade. Wasting no time, she went to her barracks and took a quick nap, exhausted by the day's events...
å˙∆∫Ω¥†ƒßøߘ˚嬵™∞§ªª˙–˚µ«‘¬
"So, Zarok. What do you think of all this?" (Unknown speaker again, whee!) the speaker inquired.
Zarok looked about all the displays, each showing a scene from various places of the Clockworks - what was more shocking, however, each piece of Clockwork he was looking at was from a different Cradle. One was labeled as "Cradle ß", with another being called "Cradle ∑." The list went on and on, with each Clockwork showing a different turn of events, each a world to its own. Cradle ß showed a wolver pair being chased doggedly down by the Swarm, the other showing a Cradle not being harmed by the latter, but by a gang of conspirators, one of which had attempted to make an innocent Knight kill his own teammates.
These were quite interesting, but the screen Zarok was looking for was a bit different than the others. After some scanning about the chamber, his eyes finally settling on the last screen. Cradle Ω. It showed a Cradle still in its "tranquil stage", as the other one had coined it, but that would change - in good time, of course. "I think of this as being quite the achievement, Sir Azomon." Zarok couldn't help but admire the stunning array.
He was promptly stunned by a mug thrown his way. "Don't call me 'Sir', you know full well that I am THROUGH with that Spiral Order."
"I can tell," an unnerved Zarok replied. "Then again," he continued, " you weren't persecuted for a reason."
"Look, I was the only Knight in the history of the Order to successfully capture a full-grown Snarbolax in an energized cage - not to mention the other three titans."
"You used up TEN SQUADS OF USEFUL KNIGHTS AS BAIT!", shouted a now scandalized Zarok.
"Well, an even bigger achievement was..." Unfortunately, the speaker couldn't continue, as he had been bonked back by the same mug that he had thrown completely off guard, at that.
"Well, I got my achievement for today - I'm off to do work the forge again, then. See you around, Azon."
Azon, as he liked to be called, seethed in his high quality chair made from the body of the FIRST Jelly King to ever confront the Spiral Knights. (The rest were all just clones he created as training exercises for his science - based mind. "I'll get you back at lunch, you whippersnapper. An keep that forge working, I still need to sell off a few things." Turning back to the command console, he whispered to himself - "soon enough, that forge - and all the other chores - will be the least of my worries. When I present my newest plan to the Order (more like ORDERS, he thought), they won't be able to deny the genius, and shall be the ruler of all these little Cradles, and more!"
Instead of a maniacal laugh, however, Azon continued to sip his lemonade.
Fa-da! I'm out early again (but this time, for real)!
Over the course of about 48 hours, I've decided to make my story layout as such: different character viewpoints for every chapter, with the latter ending with a section about Azon! Good, so I've cleared that up now. My target audience will like this, I hope, so without further ado...
FA-DA! The next issue in the intriguingly interesting series, The Spiral Conspiracy!
Enjoy
"Come on, Sophia! You wouldn't want to be late for the next part of the mission!" Quest moved along, going towards the Arcade in order to sell off his abnormally abundant supply of Valestone. He intended to make a deal with Kozma in order to get a Wyvern shield, as we all know that one needs both piercing and elemental protection in the Jelly King's lair.
Sophia ambled on, her formerly civilian self displaying itself rather casually, in place of a military self selflessly defending other selves. "What's the rush?", she asked.
"The rush is," responded Quest, "the fact that we need to finish up these boss lairs as quickly as knightly possible! Now get a move on!"
Still continuing her comfortable pace, Sophia responded (much to Quest's annoyance), "as serious as your name, Qwerty Uiop?"
Quest knew she had him. It was actually something he was used to as of now, although the odd recruit couldn't help his/herself from joking around with the name. Quest still didn't know who gave him such a name, but what he did know was A) the basket that was left in front of Feron's quarters (with a young Qwerty in it) had a note that described both Quest and his quirky name, and B) officers liked the name because it was so easy to write on their holopads. The constant jokes had finally taken their toll on Q.U., so after becoming a Knight Elite, he went to Spiral Services in order to add another name to his ID - Quest, because that was all the knight wanted to do from then on, in order to both keep himself, his peers, and everyone else safe from whatever danger that lurked everywhere on Cradle.
While going about with his musings, Quest had finally reached a dormant gate that gave 5 crowns per chunk of Valestone. He deposited his supply into the machine, and was instantly rewarded with the resounding crash of over a thousand crowns at his feet - all in gold coins, to boot.
"Alright then Sophia! I'll get my shield, after which we can hook up with Jak, and go on that JK run!"
Sophia stopped abruptly, confused by a few missing pieces in the conversation. "What about Kryon and Aria? Aren't we going with them?" The situation slowly dawned on her, however, after Quest explained. They had by now reached Kozma as well.
"Ozlo wants to separate the group every now and then to see which combination of us works out best - remember how you and Jak strode into the Jelly Palace, guns and bombs blazing like it was the crack of doom? You nearly destroyed the stratum you were in!"
Sophia shrugged sheepishly, as Quest started again: "And then there was that business in the Ironclaw Munitions Factory. You barely touched a single Gremlin, and the only time you did was when you tried to help a Mender by firing your Vita-Pistol at some Thwackers!" Quest quickly held up a hand to hold Sophia up, while doing some bargaining at the same time. After a few sayings of 'that's robbery!' and 'schnitzelsticks...' from both parties, Quest finally (and proudly) held up his Wyvern shield. Trying to regain his train of thought, he continued: "Gremlins have practically signed a pact of war for us ever since the knights landed on Cradle - you think that means they're worth defending?"
Sophia wasn't fazed by his reasoning, however: "So what if they were Gremlins? They're sentient just like us, and are about as technologically advanced as we are! They have feelings, families..."
"Aye," countered Quest, "and they hated us the moment they laid eyes on us. The Gremlins you're talking about are in Emberlight, and we've already made an alliance with them. However, reasoning with the ones down below is just HARD. It would take-"
"Someone that understands them and sees their side of the story," Sophia finished.
Quest was scandalized - "hey, THEY shot their guns first! It ways so in one of Ozlo's recon modules."
"Yeah," Sophia returned sarcastically, "HIS module, not theirs. Besides..."
But Quest had tired of the endless argument: "Sophia, I think it's time we cut the cackle and cut up the Jelly King instead - **they're** getting bored."
Sophia looked around, checking to see if there were any Phantom vendors (the smarter ones actually do shady business in Haven) or one of those weird ghost balls that exploded when you walked near them. "Where is 'they'? I don't see any bored -"
"Which is exactly what I mean - sorry, you guys - now then, I just got my gear ready, so why don't we just go on our run - I'll save you the trouble by setting the mission up." Quest promptly disappeared, and almost instantaneously, an invite message appeared on Sophia's HUD. She accepted it, and entered the mission lobby.
"Oops, forgot my Biohazard! I'll add my Polaris, and... done! Let's dance, JK." Sophia rubbed her hands in anticipation.
Pleased to see his comrade cheer up on such short notice, Quest cheered up as well. "Let's get going, shall we?"
"Let's!" Sophia returned, and they made their way down.
The knightly pair each wiped of a bead of sweat from their foreheads, then walked over to the party button in front of them - the health pads were absent in order to provide more of a challenge. Quest gave his Cold Iron Carver (he took it with him, no matter where) one last sharpening, then stepped on the button alongside Sophia. They shook hands, to which Sophia added: "No stealing kills, okay?"
Quest gave her a mischievous smile, and said: "I can't guarantee that."
"Oh well," resigned Sophia.
They finally started, each going about their slaughtering business, going full blitzkrieg on the maroon monarch (I know he isn't maroon, but alliteration is good), with Sophia walljumping here, blasting a jelly cube there, giving no quarter to her adversaries. Quest was keeping up his side of the job as well, hacking and slashing with a will at any unfortunate Slime that happened to come his way - the Jelly King, in this case, was done for.
After about a minute of poison vials and relentless attacks, the knights held back in order to let the king have his tantrum, after which they promptly rinsed and repeated. Their efforts were rewarded shortly after by the sound of the bodies of a thousand Jellies dissolving in sync with that of their dying ruler. They then proceeded to walk over to the treasure boxes, collecting what there was to be found, then went back up to Haven, content with their quick raid. "That was quite the show you put up there, Qwerty - it wasn't awkward at all!"
Realizing that he was caught off guard yet again, Quest heaved an exasperated sigh. He didn't let her get to his valiant self, however, and gave her a playful punch in the shoulder. He forgot his overwhelming strength, however, sending one of Sophia's shoulder guards flying into the depths of the Clockworks. Sophia realized his intent and they play-fought the rest of the way - Sophia was careful with her poisonous guns of course, lest Quest be sent to the infirmary for a rather stupid reason...
ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ
"Zarok, come over here at once!" bellowed Azon.
"Yes, sir, what is it?"
"One of our video feeds has gone dead - it's Cradle ∑, I think. Care to see the problem through?"
"Yes sir, right away." Zarok rummaged through the wiring, muttering a few things to himself as he went. Finding nothing wrong, he unerringly said "There's nothing wrong."
"How could NOTHING be wrong? I'm about to take over all of these planetoids (actually, he already had), and YOU tell ME that there's nothing WRONG!?" Azon sat seething in his comfortable chair, waiting for a more 'credible' explanation.
"Sir, the only thing that IS wrong is the fact that the owner of that Cradle refuses to give us any information about it. There are rules and regulations, permissions to be had for usage, rules for usage, copyrights, and legalities... the list goes on and on." Zarok paused for a bit to let this tidbit sink in, then continued: "and if I were you, sir, I'd keep out of that kind of stuff - it's not nice to look around on the romances of other knights - especially those on other Cradles - it's indecent and unfitting for one such as yourself."
Azon simply huffed at Zarok: "people change, Zarok, we all change - besides, I haven't seen a proper romantic movie for a long time - besides, this is in real life, I've got front-row seating, and I'm bored."
Zarok, annoyed with the carnal desires of his superior, muttered: "and here I am, serving a loon..."
Zarok immediately jerked in his seat, his eyes narrowed at Zarok - "what was that?"
Using his fine knowledge of language and wordplay, Zarok responded - "I was practicing my lines for a play: Hi Sam, you should see the moon!"
Azon, being no worse than Zarok, responed: "Young'uns these days, disrespecting the elder ways..."
"What was that?"
"Oh, I was reciting a poem - the young bug is crazed, he 'as no discrepancies about welders and hay..."
The two continued to look suspiciously at each other (in a comical sort of way) then went about their jobs again.
Well sure you can use my fan-fiction. But anything unsure you cannot make up! Wait for my fan-fiction to update. You can use those my stories' people, but the guy I'm inserting in is a....... guy that appears in my next chapter.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Topoyozada
Gender: Boy(Duh)
Species: Knight
Role: Intelligence. Also a front-line fighter.
Bio: A knight that awakened in a Gremlin slave room. He hid there for months and finally got the courage to get the hell outta there. Instead, he got his butt kicked. Two minutes later, a squad (Coincidence?) enters and blasted everything, saving him. Oh, and Did i mention he's thy brother to Yttriu? The brother who went to the clockworks and never came back?
Personality: A guy, who seems always surrounded by people. He is a leader-ship guy and his squad(The one who went with him) will follow him anywhere.
P.S Did I mention don't use him until i tell you to? Well, Anyway, do what i just told you to. Don't mention him! (YET)
But of course
The main reason as to why the video feed for Cradle Epsilon was broken because I was still waiting for your response. Glad to see that you were able to get back to me. Oh, and I've read your fanfic from cover to cover; it's really good! Just wanted to know your IGN (mine's Onoa) - I'd like to meet such a great writing knight as yourself someday - you better be as good a fighter as you are a writer!
I also noticed that either a lot of people aren't reading this thread, or they just aren't posting comments, so I've started a daily "thing" to keep things running along when I'm not posting a chapter. Consequently, today will be Mellow Monday! Every Monday, you can post whatever good (or lucky) thing that you have done for someone else, or has happened to you. I've thought a day ahead as well; from now on, every Tuesday will be Question Tuesday! With that, all of you readers can thence post any questions or confusions you may have with the story. Hopefully that will spark some ideas...
Testing the waters.
I've been reading it. It seems pretty good so far. It's not updated with story often, so I'm getting a tad bored with it. I reckon your readers may be too.
Not getting updated often??
But I started last Friday and came up with a new chapter on Sunday! That can't be too slow... or I'm just not providing enough action. Nonetheless, I'll try to update either tomorrow or Wednesday. Either way, bear with me; I'll make it worth the wait!
Now THAT'S a webcomic for you...
No, not as in 'your style', but vg cats is great.
That's not the point, however. Unfortunately the only available Mac in the house is occupied, so I won't be able to lay down those awesome Ω ΩΩ ΩΩ ΩΩ ΩΩ ΩΩ ΩΩ Ω symbols... oops, never mind! Microsoft word is quite the helper, it seems. Horjay, now you guys can enjoy awesome symbols!
Now, without further ado, the Ω fanfic (look up omega's definition if you don't get it) that will ever grace the front page of the treasure vault of the Sprial Knights forums has been updated with its latest chapter! By the way, today is question Tuesday, so feel free to post any inquiries you might have about this series.
Enjoy.
Kryon inspected his teammates. Everyone was present and accounted for. Quest, Jak, Sophia, and of course, the newest (and probably last) addition to their team, Aria. Going down the Cloockworks with a five-man squad was something no one had done before; the Order simply stated that only four knights could go down at a time, and so they did.
Today, however, things were about to change.
"Everyone ready for the journey down under?" Kryon demanded. "I don't want anyone whining for the toilet, or the fact that they don't have enough energy to go down. You should also make sure to equip yourselves with the proper gear; this is not a play mission - we have to show the Big O that we're the stuff that makes an Ω squad exist. Am I clear?" He looked over his teammates with an inquiring look for a fleeting moment. having gotten the message, they all saluted.
"Sir!"
After having done a quick check on himself via his HUD, Kryon moved over to the elevator, his squad following suit. This was to be the very last (mysterious) challenge that the masters of Spiral HQ had given them - and as Kryon had said, it wasn't going to be a cakewalk. After the two separate groups had each finished off the Twins and Vanaduke in their own immaculate way, they had been called up by Ozlo for an emergency Com-Talk. It had been the last transmission they had received before embarking on their perilous path.
Ω Ω Ω
"Members of Ω squad," Ozlo had said. "Your final challenge awaits at daybreak tomorrow. Now before you lot ask me any questions, just let me get the briefing over with. You are to traverse the entire length of the Clockworks in one go."
Kryon huffed. "Been there, done that."
Ozlo had nodded sagely, his years of experience showing patience with the energetic knight he was observing on his display. "Of course you have," he calmly responded. Then, with a hint of a challenge in his voice: "But have you done it the hard way?"
Aria seemed to space out. "What do you mean exactly?"
Ozlo was tempted with toying with the knights; this could go on and on. Then again, this was serious business, so without hesitation, he finished the briefing: "The five of you will go down from a hidden gate of the Arcade. As I said, you will go from start to finish. However, that isn't the hard part - you will be allowed only 3 Starred Health Capsules, and 3 of any vial type you choose. But that is it for your items. After you equip yourselves with those, you won't be able to collect any more throughout the length of the mission - use them wisely. As for what you can equip, only three weapon slots are allowed (Sophia had groaned at this), and no trinkets." By now the entire group, with the exception of Kryon, had gone slack-jawed. Ozlo continued: "Lastly, all four of the bosses you know, the titans..." he paused a bit to let this tidbit sink in. None of the team members stirred. "...will appear according to their designated floor, in their Shadow Lair forms."
Now it was Kryon's turn to be surprised (it was really only raising an eyebrow.) The entire group went crazy - Jak started making the best possible bomb sets, Sophia started to take apart and reassemble her guns, and Quest started to have a pep talk with his Leviathan Blade. All of the group, except for Aria. "So that's about it, right?"
The former three went into frenzy, maddened by her unbelievable calmness: "SO THAT'S ABOUT IT!? WE'RE GOING UP AGAINST THE HARDEST CHALLENGE ANY SPIRAL KNIGHT HAS ENCOUNTERED SINCE ALPHA SQUAD AND ALL YOU CAN MANAGE IS 'THAT'S ABOUT IT!?"
Feeling that he had done his job (and a bit unnerved by the explosive reaction) Ozlo left the quintuplet to their business.
Ω Ω Ω
That had happened only yesterday, and still Kryon could not shake off the great excitement and anticipation that had possessed him ever since last afternoon. This was going to be the most important moment of his career; he would have to make it count. After the meeting with Ozlo, he had gone over and done some quick modifications to his Glacius - the most important one being its 'select fire' mode. With it, he could either turn off the blade's elemental energy source, making it inflict normal damage, or turn it back on for more specialized chaos. It would provide some much - needed flexibility with his weapon set.
As he looked around the descending elevator, he saw that his teammates had modified their weapons as well, making sure that they were exploiting their tools as much as possible.
Then came the small tremor that noted the elevator's arrival at the first floor. Kryon stepped out first, then beckoned to his teammates - they took up positions behind him, the resulting shape resembling that of an Ω symbol. Kryon turned to his teammates once more: "Who are we?" he bellowed.
"We are Omega Squad!" his mates returned.
"Why are we a part of this squad?" Kryon bellowed again - the very air around him seemed to shiver with every breath he took.
"We are the last to leave, the last to fall!", responded the rest. Having completed the age-old ritual that had pertained to the Omega squads of the past, Kryon relaxed only the slightest bit. "Guys... you ready to dance?" Kryon leaned towards the party button, poised like an Olympic sprinter.
Needing no encouragement, his teammates raced after him, yelling: "last one to be a beast killa is a rotten Omega!"
Thus began the true test of the Omega Squad.
ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ
Who could forget?
I haven't forgotten; it's time for the Azon section!
"Zarok, do come over here." Azon sipped some mint and comfrey tea.
Zarok blew an explosive sigh, deciding to play along with his master's new accent. Only last week he was pretending to be a mob boss.
"I'm working on possible disguises, should the reason come up for them," Azon had reasoned.
"What is it this time? Surely the ∑ feed isn't broken again?"
"Oh no, it's fine," Azon crowed, "what's important right now is THIS."
Zarok took a look at the five-strong team of knights that had just set foot in the Clockworks. This was important indeed.
"I'll upload this feed directly to your personal HUD. Make sure you don't miss a beat on their progress - something tells me my days of being 'rediscovered' are about to come true. Should any complications arise, eliminate them. I want to see these knights get down to the Core in one piece - by then, I'll have a surprise party waiting for them!"
Zarok nodded: "Indeed, sir, right away." Before he left, however, Zarok took an experimental sip of the tea - it tasted downright foul, and he decided that he'd have lemonade instead - and an ice pack. Boy, that Azon sure could throw cups!
@Onoa
lol no, not bored. :P
I haven't heard Jak speak yet, though. If you need any tips on how to do it, check out our RPG "The Fangs" here in the Treasure Vault. I used to stutter sometimes, so I know what triggers it and what it sounds like.
Jak will probably stutter on "k" sounds, breath-sounds like "h" and "i," and on anything that doesn't sound smooth. He only stutters at the beginning of a word, though. The reason is that once he gets the first sound out, the rest of the word comes naturally. If he stutters on a letter for too long, he'll put in an extra effort to pronounce it, which may produce a gutteral sound in the process (in "The Fangs," I represented it as an *urgle*). If he stutters a lot in a sentence, he may become out of breath.
Just a few realism tips. ;)
This is going to be awkward, but...
As you (my audience) may well know, I have been a new but quite productive member of the Spiral Knights forums, basing my operations within the Treasure Vault. I had started a new series called the Spiral Conspiracy, and had come off to a nice start. A few things have changed, however, starting with the forums themselves. As of late, my parents have started to disapprove of all these different ideas going around, but not for the reasons you would think of. I was spending school nights on the forums, inspecting fanfics while updating my own, and losing valuable study time (and sleep) while I was at it. Before long, one of my parents got their hands on the Mac, and started reading away. All of this 'fanfic' business seemed to be a bottomless pit for me; I had wasted away some of my recent life so carelessly. I protested in vain, with the reasoning of my elders taking over most of the conversation. Eventually I was 'forced' (not in a violent way, mind you) to resign because of the danger I was putting myself into. I was told that I was going down a bottomless pit, always writing for the satisfaction of a minute amount of people, for their 'empty' compliments. (Don't worry though, all that kept me coming was the great work and support you guys showed both on this thread and others.) Now I shall cut to the chase. As of now, I am announcing my resignation from the Spiral Knights forums (but not from the game!), and have been given a deadline to meet - by this Sunday, on February the tenth, I will place my last post on this thread. I have spent many a great time with you people; all of your quirky, emotional, and (insert adjective here) stories were great, and they compelled me to write too. It was you people who finally gave me some actual motivation to write an entire series while being bombarded by schoolwork and such. I had a glorious time here, meeting many strangers (who I unfortunately can't meet up with in person) who became my friends, my writing mates. It was great, sharing ideas, weaving them together to form newer and better stories. I will never forget the great time I had here, being able to write creatively while having an attentive audience.
Sadly, my time has finally come, and that has reminded me of something. That something, I hope, will later remind you guys of the short - lived presence who called himself Onoa. Thus I leave my 'legacy' to you people! From now on until Sunday, I will try to post as many chapters and add as much content as I can to the Spiral Conspiracy (and I apologize if it seems rushed); I will do my best to make this story the most unforgettable one I have written yet.
Don't start weeping though! Even though I will be off the forums, I will continue to be a part of SK community. For any one of you who wants to friend me (then again, I don't know why - I'm just another writer) so as to keep in touch, my In-Game-Name is Onoa, just like it appears on the forums. You can see me on Friday evenings and Sundays, and maybe even the odd weekday in which I shall be lucky enough to log on at all. (I'm looking at you, Topo.)
So again, fare well, my friends. These will be my final days on the SK forums, and I hope to make them the most important ones. I thank you all once again for providing me with the support and advice I needed in order to make this series better. Without said guidance (and encouragement) I don't know how any of this would be possible; I thank you all deeply from my heart.
One last thing - for any one of you (current followers) who would be considerate enough to friend me, I shall include 50 ce within my reply. Then again, it's your decision; I'm not forcing you to friend me. (Ew. >x<)
And lastly
Don't forget to be awesome.
