Devs should come here to bounce ideas off us players once in a while. Not new content, obviously, but stuff like gear balancing and such. Then maybe we can avoid this whole Chaos thing, because some player will catch something that would have made it overpowered or underpowered.
A suggestion about Suggestions
Can you do a poll on "hey, this is balance change we're thinking of making, will it screw up the game?"?
Yeah, and then we will get yet another Shard Bomb scenario, where they just absolutely disregarded our feedback.
We don't have any control over that. All we can do is provide advice.
Nick used to do this (antigua split damage change) and open the test server so we could backup our findings.
Before destroying sun shards, he also planned to turn it into pure piercing but we did manage to delay that.
Chaos set was a sudden change, but OOO isnt always like this.
@Juances
The polls aren't frequent enough to really gather any useful information from us. Even when there is a poll, it's usually about a feature that doesn't affect the entire player base or they're even just silly nonsensical questions.
And while OOO hasn't always made these sudden changes, the fact that the more recent updates have suffered from this isn't a good sign. I hope they go back to talking with us a bit more.
@Aumir
Are we still waiting on official word on whether they'll even be fixing the broken versions they shipped? From what I can gather, the bombers really don't like their less effective, disappearing shards.
@Klipik
I completely agree with you that they need to talk to us and actually bounce ideas off us. Especially since we have dozens of individual unique threads with their own ideas on buffs, nerfs, etc. for the equipment, a lot of which is really well thought out and deserves at least a test. If OOO actually does read through our threads and tested some of these ideas themselves, they could at least tell us what they tested and why it didn't work.
Going back through some of the old threads, talking with the forums was something they did fairly often and everyone loved it. Really makes me wish I was around for that..
But somewhere along the way, they lost their transparency and are now reaching Valve levels of secrecy, which is absolutely ridiculous.
I wholeheartedly agree, the dev team should lend more credence to the suggestions forum, but I'm not sure what's keeping them out, either internal policy, or the fact that most suggestions don't actually have anything to do with improvement, as opposed to just making things look prettier, which we have no deficit of.
You can suggest to make people to make better suggestions?
They asked: "How do you like the change (read: throw out previous weapon and replace with another weapon entirely) to RSS?" Everyone said how they hated the change to it and it was rubbish. So what did they do?
Changed it anyway.
They can do that in the form of polls. Like that time when they asked if we wanted pets or what was our favourite color for retextures.
