This is what would happen if OOO made more promotions:
1. More money for OOO
2. Can hire more people
3. They make more updates (levels, bosses etc), promotions (to start the cycle again).
I don't see much of a mistake as long as OOO doesn't over do it.
Anything really. examples are:
April Fools
every 10k new accounts
Yin Yang (that was someone else's idea)
when snoarbloax/Jelly King/Roar Twins/Vanduke gets defeated 10 million times (or something like that)
Summer Break
Spring Break
Winter Break (you get the idea)
Other Sega or OOO games released
Holidays in general
New update
etc.
There are a lot of things OOO could make a promotion for.
April fools isn't a big holiday. OOO can just make jokes for fun
Give 10k to new accounts? A big army of accounts are ready to abuse this and send the crowns to their main alt. Please use your logic about that one. It's like cheating.

Why? 10 million times is silly and probably that the bosses got defeated more than 10 million times.
Summer, Spring and Winter breaks are not needed. We celebrate things for holidays, not like breaks. Winterfest, for example is a way to celebrate a winter holiday mainly
Other games? What if they release a new Sonic edition game? Maybe there could be sonic costumes which is in the game (Mecha Sonic suit). But for the other games, no. The game has to be a big thing, even appearing on the news.
Holidays are already celebrated. Again, Winterfest and Dark Harvest.
New updates? How about if the game is down for a really long time? Promotions like half priced elevators are implanted already.

Actually, it was the Anniversary Event. That was just a list of facts that they posted up on the day. Spiral Knight's second anniversary is coming around on the 4th of April.
