I was trying to gather feedback from all the various sites that Spiral Knights is hosted about the new UI (the majority of players seem to like it sadly, vets not so much) and found a thread on Steam Discussions about a possible Korean server opening up.
So can anyone read Korean or find a reliable translation of this news? I don't want to have to rely on Google translate, but I will if no one here can translate it.

Can anyone read Korean? This may be pretty important...
Basically, from what I can find out, Netmarble(a subsidiary of CJ group, which owns marketshare in everything in Korea from movies to supermarkets to game distribution to sponsoring two major eSports teams) may be adding SK to their servers. From the quote towards the end, it seems like a rep. for the company was not able to comment on the situation, which is Internet-speak for "the answer is yes but I'm not allowed to say that until someone more important does".
Koreans in SK... The lockdown community is doomed.
I agree Klipik on the "Koreans in LD" and i'm pretty sure there are lots of Koreans playing the game but not to there true potential due to lag and if this happens they WILL own in LD most likely although some non-Korean LD masters might remain.
I'm just interested because if this happens, we'd be getting a LOT of new players... maybe.
Plus! There would be a server kind of closer to Australia? The Aussie guys are usually trying to get a server opened closer to them, though I'm not sure if it'll be better than trying to connect to the US servers, but maybe?
Lots of maybes...
The main question is whether it would be connected to the NA/EU servers, or separate like the HK/TW ones. I hope it's connected to the main server, SK could use a player boost even if they don't exactly speak our language.
Considering most East Asian schools teach mandatory English, they'll most likely speak our language. Albeit in a very broken manner, but still I think we'd be able to understand each other a bit. Hell, from what my friends who travel say, they love practicing English with tourists.
Dang. Now I'm really hoping that they get connected to us...
/facepalm
You guys are scared of players of certain race/ethnicity ? XD
Speaking of Korean, have any of you played the game Survival Project ? Its kind of like this, a little bit. Was fun but then the servers went korean, course you can still play... If you can read korean =/
Would be good to get more players on the game though for sure.
My entire knowledge of anything Korean comes from:
1) watching professional starcraft 2
2) my two first-generation American Korean twin friends
So don't blame me for any cultural insensitivities I might exhibit. Instead, blame my ignorance.
they better to have their own separated server.
korean's english proficiency is far worse than the japanese's.
moreover, i wonder if south korea could survive long enough considering they have a mad, out-of-control neighbor...
New players is cool.. but suckz if they dont speak english -.-
There's a spanish haven, a french haven, a german haven, a spanish forum, a french forum, a german forum....
And even LD seems to sort out players based on server (no EU players on US).
What's the fuss about their language. As if al amuricans spek purfectly anyways. plz stop cryin u silly.
I'm not worried about the language thing. Like I was saying before, they're probably more prepared to talk to people outside of their country than Americans are. Stupid American school system...
The thing I'm interested in right now is the same thing Klip was wondering. Whether or not they're going to be joining up our little community (NA/EU) or if they're going to be joining up on the other East Asia servers (HK/TW).
WHAT!
I dont want to get owned by Koreans in lockdown >.>
Oh man Koreans and their 100 mbps interwebz. If only they join the western servers then we will see more LD competition.

High-speed internet. I think what you actually meant was ultra-high-speed fingers. And computers. And brains.
I'm not worried about the language thing. Like I was saying before, they're probably more prepared to talk to people outside of their country than Americans are. Stupid American school system...
If I knew enough French, I would be saying this to you in French.
/cry
At post #12:
Wait where I live I have to learn English, German, Spanish, Dutch, French, Greek and Latin.
What is this madness.
Even thou I can't read korean...I hope that the server will connect to the main server! so I will not lag as I am right now >:D ...even 2bar of connection will do >:D...I gonna go proto if that happen >:D
"Koreans in SK... The lockdown community is doomed."
In all the america+korean video games I've played, it isn't as bad as people think it is. Only the top few percent of koreans in each game are as super-threatening as people think most koreans are. Whats interesting though is the lack of terrible players in korean population of these things. In SK, if I play against americans, typicaly there's a bell curve of skill. A noob quarter, an average half, than a "pro" half. Koreans are more like around a third average, over a half "pro" (american version of "pro") then the top korean percent of pro.
Regardless, LD isn't incredibly skill based, it's more tactics instead. Tactics can only be thought of to a certain depth, and I'd say some americans have reached the end of what can be done.
my friend informed me that every year the Koreans always win the worldwide contest for 1 million dollars.... and people that play LOL have most likely play SK as well.....so this onslaught of Koreans will just change Lockdown FOREVER!!
LoL takes a vast amount of strategy to play compared to LD. Think of it like comparing chess to checkers. In chess, you can implore many more strategies than you would be able to in checkers. So a chess master vs an average chess player might not beat the tar out of him so badly in checkers, because the number of strategies he can use is reduced almost to the number the average joe has. There's kind of a tactics-cap. You really can only be so good at LD before you can't go any further, and I'd say there are some players already that can do that.
Next time, for requests like these, you might want to ask for someone who can read AND understand a foreign language. I read Korean, but I don't understand a lick of what was on there.

It kind of makes sense... sort of.
