I came, I saw, I conquered.

You've reached the Core
Your journey's done
You are safe here, knight
From no one.

___________

I confess to plunging my knife into my friend's back. I held nothing against him; he just knew too much to be allowed to live. Please, believe me when I tell you I am not a monster. Like any sentient creature, I have hopes, dreams, and a life to live. I just...have unique ways of getting there.

The knights are interesting creatures. They are remarkably intelligent, considering that they developed so much advanced technology in nought but three years. Their physical strength rivals even the strongest monsters. Naturally, I wanted to manipulate them into serving me. What?? There's nothing wrong with manipulating people! Besides, people like being manipulated, even though they'll never admit it.

So...can you really blame me for bringing them here? I mean, they benefit too, right? They get free energy, motivation to advance, and tons of loot and money that they wouldn't otherwise be able to gather. I mean them no harm.

Yet.

Long entry.

The wind was unusually strong today. It blew all around me, and whistled in my canine ears. I drew my ragged clothing tighter around me in an effort to stay warm in the Cooling Chambers. I was freezing. Maybe I should have gone with the full transformation... the fur would be nice. I trudged on through the chemical snow. After the plague had taken over most of the Clockworks, there weren't many Knights as there used to be. I suppose that's a good thing. If any one of them caught a glimpse of me, I'd probably be taken back to Haven for dissection or whatever. In "the name of science", as usual. I was once a scientist myself, but not the kind that would just cut open a person with an abnormality. I had other things to worry about. That... guy, called the Master or whatever was bent on recruiting me into his army of infected Humans. Not a chance. I still retained my individuality, and I wouldn't be under anyone's control any time soon. My ears twitched a little, searching for the sounds of any living creature. I guess there weren't any, besides me of course. Even the Greavers, some of the most resilient creatures I've encountered in my life, have been infected and killed, or worse. Well, what could be worse? Not sure. The elevator was up ahead, another one of those ones that required energy. I still had a Condensed Energy Chunk though. They'd only been invented recently, and contained so much energy condensed in it, it could power Haven for an entire week. Of course, they only fit in elevators, so that would never be possible. I shoved it in the slot and the elevator powered up, I pressed the button for Moorcroft. It was practically deserted nowadays, so it was a good hideout for me. No other clothing there, sadly. My ears twitched again, searching for more sounds among the grinding of the elevator. No others. Maybe nobody like me had survived. And I couldn't go back to Haven either... I would be captured in an instant. Well, if I found a way to cover my ears and tail, I could be fine there, I guess. It's worth a try. I still had my Heavy Pulsar too, in case I got in danger.

The elevator ground to a halt, surprising me a little. I still wasn't used to elevator travel. I mostly deal with stuff on the surface, like terraforming small patches of land. Moorcroft was very empty as usual. Only the occasional Mewkat was wandering around, and Konjuring Kat was still there, looking for his... I don't know. It didn't matter. The Mewkats didn't mind my presence, only looking at my ears or even nibbling on my fluffy tail, which was always amusing. I rummaged around in the abandoned houses, being careful not to touch parts of the bricks that were corroded. They probably contained infection. I finally found a small beanie and a collared shirt, as well as some cargo shorts. Now the problem was hiding my tail. I mean, if I actually had some armor, it could pass off as a high-end accessory. The problem is, all the armor was stored in the Haven barracks. No chance of getting it. I could hide it in my shorts somehow. It might look a little strange though. Some sacrifices had to be made though, but I later figured out the lab coat would do a good job of hiding it. Hopefully nobody would tear off my hat. That would be a disaster. I took my lab coat off and put on the shirt, buttoning it up, as well as the shorts. I couldn't find a spare lab coat though. This would have to do. I put the hat loosely on my head, just enough to cover my ears, and tucked my tail into my shorts, making sure the lab coat hid most of it. I dashed out of the decrepit building, and on to the elevator, jamming the chunk into the energy slot. I pressed the button to Haven, and the elevator jerked upward once more.

Haven wasn't exactly a mess when I got there, but it wasn't as it usually was. I walked around, looking up, hoping to see one of my former lab members. No chance though. They were all transformed and taken by the Master. I couldn't get them back probably... he had them all under control under the guise that he was going to unite them all and create a better world, when in reality, he just wanted to take over it. Nothing I can do though, his army is thousands strong. I sat down on the steps of the fountain, doing nothing in particular. Why did I come to Haven anyway?

Sigh...

Just a mercenary now...

I stood at the bridge connecting Haven to the Chasm, only that it was now broken. Figures, since the Knights over on the other side would want to slow down the spread...

But it didn't mean that they were impervious to its effects. I'd give or take a couple of weeks...

I had my armor on right now, covered to the last inch with the artificial exoskeleton, the only thing between an enemy's fatal attack and my own flesh. With a groan, I leaned forward, and took a clunky step forward. I could hear the exhausts whistle from the energy output, and so I increased my speed. One foot ahead of another, slowly, patiently...

I was now at a power-walk pace, the same easy lope that I was taught to do as a recruit. It wasn't too slow of a pace, but at least I wouldn't be straining my muscles underneath the heavy plate mail.

I clunked up the stairs, clattered forward, and stopped at the front of the fountain. It was now dusty, the water lying still from the clogged up vents. I still remembered the last time I refreshed myself from the fountains, the water literally sliding off my sweaty and tired face...

There were still hordes of hungry, homeless, sometimes naked refugees from all over. They were begging for food, crowns, anything. My armor, regardless of its battered state, still signaled a few of the less kindly denizens to eye me hungrily. However, another glance at the level of defense that my suit had would scare the daylights out of most of the potential bandits; plate mail meant that the person underneath could sustain themselves extravagantly even in a world like this. The smart ones would warn the others not to even look at me.

I couldn't take my armor off now, not with the possibility of hostiles in the area. I outstretched my left arm, allowing the massive plate shield to materialize around the arm. It didn't feel like it had any weight, at least not until the last particle was in place. Suddenly, Cradle's weight took effect, causing the shield to push down on my arm. With an obnoxiously loud crash, the heavy shield smacked the cobblestones with a clang that could be heard for leagues around. Of course, this caused some to raise their heads in fear, but the majority of the crowds had ignored the noise.

What was I here for again?

Provisions, medical supplies, and shelter.

I doubt there was anything left in the Auction House, as it was the most crowded place pre-crisis. The Bazaar was already wiped clean by any looters; I saw to that effort personally. Racking my brain, I remembered that the heavily guarded Guild Halls may have withstood the riots. Maybe some Guild Halls had their cafes still up and running?

Shadows

Dusk had descended on Haven, eerie silence hung upon the giant town of refugees, shadows closed in. Eyes were spread out throughout the night, some beast, some chillingly human. One of them were mine. I glared throughout the city, it was empty, no one in their right mind wanted to be outside when we roamed.

The knights had done well to block us off from Haven this long, but they were wavering. I looked around from my perch on the hilltop, Void wolvers licked their lips, zombies gnawed on their own bones, phantoms chittered menacingly. A howl emanated through the night. The mutants were closing in. Harassment parties were sent out, just to give the inhabitants of Haven something to fear. Something to put them on edge, a scared mind was a weak mind. I took this time to examine my surroundings. I pulled my hood higher over my face, even now my cloak and hood were glowing with an unnatural purple and black. I had worn them since I had been....created, they were gruff and filled with dust, but they still invoked fear into my prey. I grasped the swarm crystal in my right hand, it surged with a purple aura of pure malice. My meditation was interrupted by screams through the night, followed by sadistic howls. The wolvmen as we called them had broken through the barriers that surrounded Haven. I smirked then broke out in a laugh. The knights were weak, they had so much fear, greed, and idiocy. And yet they still had hopes of beating us, the Swarm. The Master had assured us all that the knights fall would come. The mutants came pacing back, carrying an unlucky captive with them. One hostage a night, the Master had said. I grasped the unlucky fool by the collar. "Kill me now, it'll save you the time." the knight spat at me. "Oh don't worry, we have something much more...lasting than death for you." I said. I pulled back my hood. "In the name of Vog..." the knight said shocked. "Y-You do exist..." he quivered. "The swarm clones are real." I smiled, we weren't clones we were better then these sorry excuses for lifeforms. "You know what to do." I said with glee. The wolvmen began to growl, then in a flash of a second began to attack the poor knight. His screams echoed all the way back to Haven. With a snap of my fingers the mutants backed off. "Welcome to the swarm." I said sadistically. I put my hand on the forehead of the trembling knight, a black and purple aura branched off of my hand and onto the face of the knight, he started screaming at a frantic pace, the conversion was always painful. He collapsed, then rose again his eyes now a dark purple, and his armor changed from the usual blue of the cobalt line to a dark black. He saluted and ran to join the ranks behind me. "Haven will be ours." I said, there was no doubt that the crumbling civilization of the knights was falling, there wasn't a force on earth that could save them from their fate.

Haiz Guyz.

"Ish him, mommy!" A small Isoran pointed to me. "The whit loze!"(Translation: "It's him, mom! The commander of the White Rose!") The woman standing next to the small child smiled at me for a moment, before gently grabbing hold of her child's hand and walking away. I gazed at them in adoration for a moment; the relationship between a child and his mother was unparalleled. It made me smile for a moment, bringing back memories of when I was a small child. I was instantly snapped back into reality by the chirps of a few blue snipes flying across the sky in a perfect triangle formation. I sighed at the thought that my short dream was over, and gently put my right hand on the grey vending machine that I stood next to.

I noticed that it was cool to the touch, surprising me for a moment since it was supposedly supposed to radiate heat energy. I stood there, gazing at the scene. Knights from all around Cradle were littered across Haven, filling the air with arrogant speeches. The golden stone arches that were beautifully crafted were placed across Haven and eerily resembled the mechanisms of a clock, making it seem as if time was running out. But not everyone seemed to notice that. I looked up at the sky, hoping for something that would lead me to a state of peace and solitude for at least ONE day. I noticed that the sky was of a clear blue, the white, fluffy clouds blending in so well with the beige-based scenery I was trapped in lucid thought for a few seconds, before I saw something gliding across the sky(POWERPLAY ALERT!!!! That's Athena.). What was that? The grey machine suddenly buzzed to life, and sent out a small wave of heat energy, signaling that I was to remove my hand from the machine, which I almost instantaneously did.

Looking across the grey horizon, I noticed that the sun was fading into it, my mind taking that as a bad omen. That meant that dusk was near. And with dusk, the attacks. I winced. More attacks meant more innocent civilians and refugees killed. A shadowy figure slowly emerged from the edge of the horizon, its forehead purple.

One. That's it? No... there has to be more.

Then his allies came, filling the horizon with darkness. And the one thing that was the same about them all was one thing on their foreheads: the swarm insignia. But they were no ordinary troops. They were heavily armed poison-based swarm-infused troops who were highly skilled in the field of combat. But they were still no match for me. I smiled, materializing Chaos Edge and Soul Edge on my hands. Pulling out my comlink, I shouted into it with a hint of annoyance:

"All troops, assemble outside the gates of Haven. Standby until further notice."

I ran towards the place where I saw the gliding figure crashland, hoping that it was another knight who would aid us in the battle to come. If not, I would kill it without hesitation.

OOC: Kaiju, could you tell me whether the powerplay in this post is unacceptable or not? It would be a great help.

Save the Lady!

Not far away from the town square, a small gang of misfits was waiting to ambush a female knight in Valkyrie armor. When she passed their hideout, they broke cover and tackled her, beginning to tear away her gear and equipment. She screamed and tried to escape, but they just pinned her down and jeered at her. "You ain't gettin' away jest yet! We ain't done wit' you yet!" With that, one of them ripped off her crown pouch and sifted through it while the others held her down. She attempted to cry for help.

Nought but a muffle came through the thief's hand.

I could see the the shadow of the swarm in front of Haven, waiting to unleash another attack. I was watching guard, along with some other knights of my squad, just in case if they decided to surprise us. Thinking about my next mission..a stealth mission. Right into the heart of the enemy camp. We had to keep them occupied..Haven would soon be overrun, in a matter of weeks. He and his squad were perfect for the job, equipped with teleporters and Ultra-Speed devices. But still, this wouldn't be easy..right into the Swarm.

A few minutes later, I saw a Swarm-transformed knight up ahead. It was armed with a Ascended Calibur and might cobalt gear. I approached it without hesitation and pulled out my Dual Acherons. It swung at me but I dodged the swing. I rammed the hilt of my Acheron into his shield, knocking it out of his hand. Holding his sword with two hands now, he swung at me again but this time I parried and quickly countered with a kick to the legs, knocking him over. He had dropped his sword. I stood over him and drove one of my swords into his chest, without hesitation. Slowly he crumbled into a pile of purple dust and it disappeared. I walked away, back to my post, as if nothing had happened.

Thin, clarify next time XD

Just as I was climbing up the steps to the Garrison, I heard a scream from my six o' clock. From the Bazaar?

Curiously, I pivoted my head ninety degrees even, and listened more intently. There were some cries, and sounds of struggles...

And the small-fry begin their move...

I twisted around, and ran as fast as I could towards the usually abandoned trade center, breathing evenly. There hadn't been many criminal activities since the crisis, but one crime was all that was needed to spur the bigger fish, the mob bosses, the crime lords, into action.

Which would spell trouble for all of Haven. The Order's forces and some renegades would be forced to take sides, and it would be tyranny versus anarchy from there...

Still running, I materialized my Master Blaster into my right hand, and armed it.

I was still too cumbersome.

I heaved the heavy plate shield on my back, and jogged even faster by the fountain. I could see a couple of shadows struggling now...

When I was about forty yards away, I got on my knee and aimed. The first shot would cause some shock. The second would start the screams, and the third would start the stampede. I swiveled my head left and right, taking note of all the civilians. Orphans, homeless families, groups of friends huddling together...

I'd have about seven seconds to fire without hurting somebody. After that, it would be chaos.

Carefully, I lined my sights up to the silhouettes in the darkness, allowing the laser's dot to rest calmly on the sitting silhouette's neck.

Three shots. Seven seconds. Dash forward, cutting distance into two-thirds. Shield charge, cutting distance to almost nil, additionally knocking away anybody unfortunate enough...

And then I'd have to unload.

After taking a deep breath, I squeezed the trigger.

Saved by the knight in...dull armor.

The thief holding her down was blasted off, and within a few second of furious gunfire and swordsmanship, the gang had been dispatched. Still shaking, she tried to stand herself up, but fell into the stranger's arms. "Sorry! Thank you for saving me, kind sir." She brushed herself off and held out a hand in greeting. "I'm Gwen. What's your name?"

Thin, this is the price she pays for getting saved.

And she doesn't realize the ensuing events. Wasn't even worth saving.

"Thomas," I reply tersely, reloading my gun. After de-materializing it, I looked behind me. A riot of people were running away from the fight, scared by the sounds of gunfire. Thank Vog I was a mercenary now; the Order would've been chomping down on me if I had still been there...

I bypassed the outstretched hand and aimed for the wrist, and squeezed it, hard. With a fluid motion, I shifted my clunky weight on my back, and pulled hard on my left arm, aiming to lift her off the ground, and throw her into the cobblestone. It should knock her out, if not badly injure her armorless body. I figured that the shock she would receive should stop her for a few minutes, enough time for me to loot the fallen combatants, and grab her within five minutes.

Then I'd have to lay low for a few. All because of her.

Honestly, though, her delicate figure seemed quite...

I mentally shook my head. No, Thomas, you aren't a lusting geezer like your subordinates.

Saved by a mercenary in dull armor.

The stranger failed to shake her hand, but instead threw her to the ground. She pretended to be knocked out and watched him loot the fallen thieves. This is a very curious type of hero indeed! He will be an excellent subject for observation.

She sat up an rubbed the back of her head. "Why'd you do that?" She asked. "I was the victim, not the perpetrator!"

Sigh...

I perked up, and swiveled my head backwards.

"What in th-

How is that even possible?! I thought that you could've b-been knocked out!"

What a freak she was. For the life of me, I couldn't even conceive how strong she was. She purposely set me up to save her? She could've easily defeated all of the gang members if she wanted to, she could've reduced panic by hundredfolds!

Who WAS this woman?!

"A-are y-you even human?!" I stuttered. This really weird vibe went up my back, and for an instantly I felt like I was staring at death itself. Shakily, I rematerialized my Master Blaster, and pointed it at her.

"M-morever...what do you want with me?!"

Something like her can be so strong?! What in the world?!

She held out her hands and stepped back. "Hey, watch where you point that! I'm as human as you are! I'm just not as fragile as you take me for. Geez, is everyone like this?!"

That's it. I shall tolerate this no longer.

As I was running towards the bazaar, I heard a few gunshots, followed by screams. Arriving there in a few seconds because of my enhanced speed, I scoured the scene from a corner, occasionally taking glances at what was happening. Homeless people were cluttered around the Bazaar, and a helpless woman lay unconscious next to a man in heavy armor, the man holding a blaster. The man was looting other homeless people, and the woman next to the man sat up and rubbed her head. "Why'd you do that?" She inquired, almost confused. "I was the victim, not the perpetrator!" The man was astounded by this; he replied stuttering heavily. "What in th- How is that even possible?! I thought that you could've b-been knocked out!" "A-are y-you even human?!" He stuttered, fear imminent in his cobalt eyes. Still shaking, he slowly materialized his blaster and pointed it at her, his finger on the trigger. "M-morever...what do you want with me?!" She lifted up her hands, and cautiously took a few steps back. "Hey, watch where you point that! I'm as human as you are! I'm just not as fragile as you take me for. Geez, is everyone like this?!" I teleported out of the corner, materializing Chaos Edge and Soul Edge, and instantaneously appeared next to them. I pointed Chaos Edge at the silver-haired woman, and pointed Soul Edge at the man. "Stop this fight! No one shall hurt anyone. That will only cause chaos and disruption. If you wish to fight someone, fight me instead. But I promise you, it will not end well." I spoke, the seriousness in my eyes so imminent even the strongest of commanders would shiver at the thought.

At the HeadQuarters...

"Your mission, is to infiltrate the Swarm camp and find their new weapon, the Shadestrucor (Shay-dee-struct-or). Our spies have found out that this weapon is extremely destructive, firing a large projectile that kills everyone in the immediate area. Then, it opens up a portal and everyone sucked into it becomes a swarm-knight. We must destroy this before they can make another assualt on Haven. You will be disguised as Swarm-Knights. You will plant a detpack on it and stealthily make your way out of there. Any questions? Good, you will depart in an hour.", said Lietenant Sode.

Me and 3 other knights were to depart on this dangerous mission. I began to prepare making sure I had everything I needed. Teleporter, Acherons, Sentenza, Ultra-Speed device. I was all ready and still had an hour to go. I decided to wander around Haven...

P.S. If you have any feedback for me, please post it in the discussion thread.

Which is why I HATE slot characters.

Sighing, I dropped the firearm to the ground, and rose both of my arms in surrender.

"Sir, I suspect this lady is up to something," I tried to explain. Clearly, it was going to take quite some convincing.

"I heard screams from the bazaar, and found her being assaulted by these individuals, now deceased. I couldn't tolerate being a bystander; one crime would motivate the other less kindly of the denizens here to engage in more criminal activities. I did rescue her, but I also was going to take her for questioning.

To my surprise, she recovered from my attempt to knock her out, quite with ease, really.

I suspect her of not being from Haven, let alone being a Knight, but that choice is up to you, sir," I finished.

Two birds, one stone

Another stranger intervened and pointed his swords at both of them, demanding that they stand down. Two heroes...seems this is my lucky day. Thomas explained his side of the story to the stranger. Why did he suspect her? She hadn't let on about her true feelings...had she? She decided to see if she could disarm them both. "Hello there! I'm Gwen. You must be..." Using her clairevoyant abilities, she scoured the Clockworks for his name. Evidently, he was a feared man, for even Vanaduke whispered it in his dreams. "...Nathaniel, right? I don't believe we've met."

She folded her hands, brought her legs close together, and tilted her hip slightly, assuming the sweetest possible pose that didn't look absurd. "Did both of you come for me? I'm so...so...terribly sorry! It'll be all my fault if this incident incites violence, and...I don't want to see anyone get killed. Can you guys forgive me?" Tears welled up in her eyes, and she sniffled a little.

That should do it.

Nope, average guy isn't so average XD

"Ma'am," I reply to her, still raising both hands in the air, "I've killed civilians in your defense. There's gotta be something to make up for that. I have to explain the situation to the authorities, get any rumor cleared out, and get these two blades off my back."

I put in a little emphasis with the blades. True, my HUD notified that I was taking damage from the blades, both of them apparently slightly penetrating my armor.

"So, if you can help me do all of that, I'd consider forgiving you," I finished, although a bit hesitant on the last part. Honestly, she does have quite the figure, but her wheedling personality is just so...eugh.

I resolved to myself that she still needed to pay me somehow for saving her.

T^T I am so tempted to accept her offer, but...I am not letting her off her debt until she pays me. I'm not exactly a saint.

I surveyed the cluttered mess strewn about my office. No one ever mentioned the enormous amount of paperwork involved in commanding these Isoran runts! Well, I'm not sure runts does them justice. They are remarkably tenacious for such small creatures.
Now, where was I? Oh yes.
I sat down and fixated my gaze on one of the awry files. Ever so slowly, it began to rise off of the ground. I maneuvered it over to one of my cabinets, and slid it safely into its alphabetized slot.
One down, who-knows-how-many left to go...
I repeated the languid process with the remaining papers, until all but one was left.
A scream pierced the serene atmosphere. Can't these "knights" ever get along? I glanced at the last file laying on my desk. It'd have to wait.
I opened the window of my second-storey office and leapt out into the street, shaking the groung a little as I landed. Apparently my "coworkers" need to introduce a bit of Necron engineering into their lives, as well as our battle-tactics! Especially if they want more of my people to help them fight this Swarm.
We Necrons are very particular about, well, everything. Why else am I one of only four other Necrons living in the Isoran capital of Haven?
The things I have to put up with here...
I stopped and scrutinized my surroundings. The scream hadn't sounded far.
Sighing, I patrolled the Haven square. It was the usual scene. Beggars in the squalid alleyways. Children playing in the dust.
No, wait.
There, in one of the more narrow side-streets, were three conspicuous looking individuals. One of them had his swords withdrawn in an aggressive manner.
Luck for me, there were a couple metal canisters lining the alley's wall. They'd help out if I got in a bit of a tiff.
I strolled over and faced the trio.
"Excuse me, is there a problem here?"

Ultra-active is I XD

"Excuse me, is there a problem here?" a voice asked.

Immediately, I recognized it as one of those confounded Necrons. Extremely intelligent, pompous, and dangerous.

Well now.

"Not to be rude or anything, but do consider taking look at the corpses littering the floor. You might grab a better picture then..." I replied, still staring straight at Gwen. Geez, how long were my hands going to be held up?!

A wolf among sheep

I hated this town. It wreaked from its alleyways to its buildings. Haven was a mess. I pulled the cloak and cowl tighter around my body, not because of the cold, it was refreshing. But from the fact that I needed to hide a few signs I was part of the swarm. I had stopped the light from my swarm attire, and had made it look like a regular old chaos cloak. I walked through some dismal ally ways, scouting out the enemy was the worst. That was when a tingle went down my spine, a huge power spike had just been emitted. I ran through the streets to the source. I looked to find a scene with dead bodies strung everywhere, my kind of scene. A necron, and three knights one of which was emitting a power of light and dark. I decided to just observe and stay out of sight, this might be entertaining.

I won't be able to respond after this post so...

The figure in the Plate Armor turned to me with an exasperated look. "Not to be rude or anything, but do consider taking look at the corpses littering the floor. You might grab a better picture then..."

It's gonna be another one of those days....
The speaker was more than likely another mercenary, given his choice of gear. You have to be very skilled in order to survive at that trade. I decided to keep that in mind as I responded.

"Yes, I believe I can see that," I replied tersely. "What I want to know, is what the three of you have to do with it."

How's this for a beggining?

((OOC I take it that Haven will be attacked from the south-ish, so I'll base it off that. Any problems here? Oh and don't worry, he's pretty dang evil, despite his thoughts. Sorry if it's too long.))

After along time climbing across the rocky walls, I finally reached the arcade, which is still as abandoned as ever. Why did they have to make the walls so smooth? It's almost as though they DIDN'T want someone who got banned to climb across them, take out a few jelly cubes that where surprisingly still alive at depth one from above, and cause the biggest ruckus ever. Actually, that probably is why it's smoothed out.

I did a quick check of my objectives, even though I knew them word for word. "Help with tonight's attack on Haven" which I took as "Distract the knights just before the invasion begins so that we can land a few more blows, and maybe injure a few from above." Yes, always take things literally. That's the way I roll. Besides, I know being near the swarm will cause trouble for me if I fight around them. Sure, I'll fight with them against everything, I value my life, but not next to them. I know they might try transform me so I'll be "stronger, faster, and more obedient", but I plan on not becoming Half slime ever OR becoming part swarm, as I also value my peronality. Sure, I know I probably won't care as long as I do what they say, by why take chances?

Well, anyway, better get on the roof tops so no one see me and get these salt bombs ready explode on command. This day is going to be fun.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay, that's all the bombs planted." I thought as I hid in my safe spot on one of the top rooms of one of the buildings near the auction house/bazaar area. "I now just have to wait for the attack to start. Hm, what's that over there?" there seemed to be some sort of augment or something going on with... 4? 4 people. they where a bit far off and I couldn't make out their specific details in the decreasing light, but I could just make out their words. Seems like their was a shuffle, one person tried to save another person from thieves or something, and the other two seemed to want to try and figure out what's going on. As I had some time to waste and I was board, I decided to listen to them until I could set off the bombs and wreak havoc. Plus, I might gain Intel, and who doesn't like Intel?
This is jumbled XC
"She was about to be mugged by the now deceased," I explained in a rather synoptical, "I shot them, and was about to knock her out for questioning. To my surprise, she shrugged off the blow like it was nothing. I assumed that she was just toying with me, and because I felt like she might endanger me in the future, I demanded to know her intentions, via pointing a gun. Yeah, I guess that didn't work out to well..."
I nodded my head a bit back to the unseen person who STILL had his blades on me.
"And now we're stuck like this."
Athena
I flapped my wing desperately, trying to lift myself higher into the sky. I cursed my wounds and snarled as a small bird smashed into my one good wing. I felt the already damaged bone inside of my wing shatter, sending a wave of pain through my body, and started to spiral out of control. In the corner of my eye I spotted three men standing near a young girl. Around them was a ring of curious homeless people and tramps, and as I tried to right myself and swerve away from them, I crashed right into the ground, sliding until I finally lay on the floor, staring up at one of the men, who was holding two swords at the other man and girl. I muttered a curse and lifted myself to my feet. The four, along with a few shy hobos that hid in the shadows, gazed in curiousity and awe at my lustrous white wings. Inspecting my wings, I groaned in pain as shattered bone broke outside of the skin, causing a compound fracture. I rubbed my head, which now throbbed in pain, and waved at the group, who was still getting over the thought of a random winged girl falling from the sky.
Hi there...
Entry. I love long entries.
Sighing, the man dropped his gun to the ground, and lifted up his arms, starting to explain his side of what happened. "Sir, I suspect this lady is up to something," He tried to explain. By the look on my face, he could tell I wasn't convinced. I gestured with my sword for him to go on. "I heard screams from the bazaar, and found her being assaulted by these individuals, now deceased. I couldn't tolerate being a bystander; one crime would motivate the other less kindly of the denizens here to engage in more criminal activities. I did rescue her, but I also was going to take her for questioning. To my surprise, she recovered from my attempt to knock her out, quite with ease, really. I suspect her of not being from Haven, let alone being a Knight, but that choice is up to you, sir," He finished, his arms shaking. The silver-haired woman was trying to scan me for information, but subtly replied,"Hello there! I'm Gwen. You must be Nathaniel, right? I don't believe we've met." She assumed a seductive pose, though it had no effect on neither of us. She noticed it at once and assumed back her original pose, and began to talk. "Did both of you come for me? I'm so...so...terribly sorry! It'll be all my fault if this incident incites violence, and...I don't want to see anyone get killed. Can you guys forgive me?" Her eyes let out small tears as she sniffed. I turned to look at Thomas, who was obviously annoyed. "Ma'am," He replied, "I've killed civilians in your defense. There's gotta be something to make up for that. I have to explain the situation to the authorities, get any rumor cleared out, and get these two blades off my back. So, if you can help me do all of that, I'd consider forgiving you."
"Excuse me, is there a problem here?" a voice asked. I immediately recognized it as a Necron's voice. The peacemakers of the land. Or so the books of old think. "Not to be rude or anything, but do consider taking look at the corpses littering the floor. You might grab a better picture then..."Thomas replied to the Necron. The Necron was annoyed; Thomas was straying from the point. The Necron wanted answers. "Yes, I believe I can see that," He replied tersely. "What I want to know, is what the three of you have to do with it." Thomas explained his side of the story again, and the Necron was even more annoyed. I turned around in an extremely fast motion and appeared behind the Necron in less than half a second, Chaos Edge pointing at the Necron's neck, and Soul Edge beside my side. "I believe I'll be asking the questions, Necron."I spoke. "First off, wh-" My speech was interrupted by the sound of heavy footsteps coming from the south gate of Haven. Using my enhanced vision, I saw hundreds of armored Swarm-infused troops coming towards the south gate of Haven. I immediately de-materialized my swords and commanded,"Now's not the time for fighting. Using my enhanced vision, I saw tens; no; hundreds of Swarm-infused troops marching towards the south gate of Haven right now. So whoever wants to weasel out of this, now's the time." None of them answered back. "Good. Now go towards the sout-"Again my speech was interrupted, this time by a knight-like figure crashlanding somewhere in the midst of Haven's town square. "You guys go to the south gate and hold them off, at least until I come back. I'll go check out that thing that crashlanded. Hopefully it'll be another knight who'll help us in the battle to come. Expect to see me soon." With that, I gestured for them to leave and I ran towards where the thing crashlanded.
Crisis?
The sun set quickly, slowly blanketing Haven in darkness. I had heard rumblings above when I was at the upper levels of the Clockworks sometimes, like marching boots. No idea what that was though. Suddenly, my hand jerked up to my hat, checking to see if it was still covering my ears. It felt like it had fallen off, but I guess it hadn't. Inspecting my torn lab coat, I eventually decided to chuck it. My tail didn't seem to be sticking out much, so I took my solar-powered Pulsar off of my back, gently setting its carbon-fiber frame on the ground and tossing the white coat away. I breathed in and let out a sigh, slinging the firearm over my shoulder. It used to be that most Pulsars would be handgun-sized, but the Heavy Pulsar was different. Researchers decided to make the size of a machine-gun, and 10 times heavier, which didn't help much. It was a lot more effective though, there were even reports of shots paralyzing and burning people. Of course, that never happened, as I never got a chance to fire it a lot. I vaguely remember stealing it shortly after my transformation. I was shaken from my thoughts by the sound of a gunshot and subsequent screams. Normally, I'd seek to get as far away as possible from people, but I was interested and curious.
I ran over to the Bazaar, where it came from. A stampede of people came out from the small archway, and I grabbed my hat, intent on keeping it on in order to hide my ears. Bracing myself, I managed to hold my ground. The crowd quickly passed, leaving it near-deserted, except for a few people. I sniffed the air, and while I smelled mostly fear, I could smell a few other ones. A few Knights, one... very strange, unfamiliar scent, and... another Knight. It was a female, but she smelled so strange. Well, not a new scent, but it was odd. It made me happy. Euphoric, if you will. I walked around the abandoned area, looking for the source of that scent. I took my Heavy Pulsar off my back, making sure the safety was on. Can't go shooting people. I tracked the scent to an alley, but there were only a couple people. A lot less than I had smelled initially. One was rubbing his back, and the other was the nice-smelling one.
"Hey... who might you be?", I asked, looking at the girl and shouldering the gun. "I couldn't help but notice your sce-", I started to talk, but quickly put my hand over my mouth as I realized what I just said.
Let me step right in
A crash startled me, a girl with..wings? I let out a snarl, valkyries. The stranger emitting the weird powers spoke up."You guys go to the south gate and hold them off, at least until I come back. I'll go check out that thing that crashlanded. Hopefully it'll be another knight who'll help us in the battle to come. Expect to see me soon." I laughed, a very loud and sinister sound. "Sorry, couldn't help but overhear that, I don't think you'll be going anywhere." After liberating about it I decided that the strangers plus that winged girl weren't going anywhere. Right before I had spoken ANOTHER individual had appeared, it didn't matter. As expected the group looked questioningly at me. I smiled. I summoned six carnavons and three void wolvers with a flick of my wrist. "You won't be helping out anyone after this." I said sadistically. I ran off intercepting the incoming forces, I could almost feel the blood being spilt already.
Out of control
Heroes started showing up left and right. A friendly (governing) Necron, an Arch-Valkyrie, and a few other life forms had been drawn by her scream. This...is truly a very lucky day! A young lady approached her and said, "I couldn't help but notice your sce-" and put her hand over her mouth. Gwen just chuckled, and telepathically spoke to her, "Your secret is safe with me." Surely the girl would be wondering how she knew, but Gwen wasn't going to tell her.
The Swarm arrived on schedule, and Nathaniel detected them and began to give orders for dealing with them. "You guys go to the south gate and hold them off, at least until I come back. I'll go check that thing that crashlanded. Hopefully it'll be another knight who'll help us in the battle to come. Expect to see me soon."
Just then, Axis showed up and declared, "Sorry, I couldn't help but overhear that. I don't think you'll be going anywhere." He summoned six Carnavons and three Void Wolvers with a flick of his wrist. "You won't be helping out anyone after this," he said sadistically before darting off to intercept his forces.
Gwen disappeared in the midst of the ensuing chaos.
The Master appears!
I still pride myself on successfully recruiting Axis into the fold. He does his job remarkably well, and I couldn't have asked for a more reliable commander. But unlike the lesser beings of the universe, I recognize the limits of my subordinates. There is no way Axis and his forces can win in a straight-up fight with no less than three teleforce-capable beings and a couple other highly-capable Isorans.
I needed to step in.
I donned my skull mask, hood, and cloak before teleporting into the battlefield. I intentionally teleported in front of the heroes to strike fear in their little hearts.
Without a single word, I raised up my hands and darkened the skies until they were black as night. I summoned lightning from the sky and struck a stone that was mere inches from Nathaniel's feet. I then beckoned him to approach me and dared him to battle me.
The young fool will have trouble resisting the opportunity.
Thank you for clearing the situation.
Immediately, I re-materialized my Carver in my right hand, and boosted myself towards the Carnavons. With my swinging power increased, I should be able to deal a bit more damage than normal...
*THWACK*
And with a satisfying slice, I felt the cursed, rotten flesh of the monster futilely pull against the cold iron. I had hacked into the Carnavon's midsection.
Within the next half-second, I slipped the heavy plate shield onto my left arm (it had been on my back the whole time), and purposely bashed sideways, effectively side-stepping any undead eager to curse me with their breath. With my blade still lodged in the Carnavon's torso, I should be able to tear the monster in half.
And that's when I noticed something...evil.
An ominous figure, giving off an aura of poetic death, was beckoning Nathaniel to do combat with him. In order to entice that hero, he shot a lightning bolt right his feet.
But, I couldn't stray from my current opponents. Begrudgingly, I turned my head back to the Carnavons, ready to fight another round.
Incoming
I looked up. The Master had teleported in. It seemed he was going after the knight with the light and darkness capabilities, I'd have my chance to fight that group, they had something...peculiar about them. I shrugged the thought out of my head, the assault was on. "CHARGE!" I yelled. The swarm forces invaded Haven, deafening snarls, howls, and screams echoed through the late night, the burgundy walls of the Haven buildings would be splattered red. A roaring crash came down. A barrage of metallic items rained down on us. Necrons. I sent the mutants after the necrons, I couldn't waste time with them, we needed to inflict as much damage as we could before day rose. I fired dark energy bolts everywhere, I could smell the scent of burnt flesh already. This was it, time to see what these knights are made of.
I want...all of them!
I informed Axis that I would be commanding the Carnavons in the immediate area before assuming control. I instructed the Carnavons (only the ones that the heroes were fighting) to surround me and "protect" me (though I didn't need their protection) in order to draw all the heroes' attention to me.
I growled menacingly, then let out a deafening roar like that of a lion. As I did so, a shadowy crystal barrier field formed around me and lifted me up in the air.
Even if this display of power didn't scare the heck out of them, it was still an effective defense. I materialized a thunderball in my left hand and held it up, ready to throw it at a moment's notice.
Round 2, FIGHT!
I shouldn't have averted my attention...
I was already cursed by a Carnavon's breath, also taking substantial damage on my armor. Fortunately, I was able to dash out of any more of the Carnavons' attacks, and had already switched to my Master Blaster.
I de-materialized my shield, and emptied a clip into the already-eviscerated Carnavon's head, pedaling back as I had done so. I shook my hand, prompting the gun to reload, and held my shot this time...
I had also forgotten about the Wolvers.
Something was gnawing on my leg, triggering an alarm pop-up to flash all over my HUD. Muttering a swear, I pointed the gun down at my leg and fired, effectively shoving away the mutt.
Already, my durability was decreased to around 42%, not the most desirable of conditions.
Reloading yet again, I trotted back a bit, back down the stairs into the Square, and unloaded another clip into the Wolver. The hellish death-cry of the mutt told me it was dead, and so I had the luxury of time to rest up before charging into the fray again.
But what about the other Swarm forces?
The rest had returned to the big guy, the shadowy figure, creating a meat-wall for the other Knights. I unsheathed my Carver, and charged up towards the first Carnavon, hoping to land a decent strike...
Time for some psychological warfare.
I redesigned a few of the Void forms to resemble the heroes, complete with the best minds at my disposal. I directed the Void Nathaniel to attack Athena, the Void Athena to attack Nathaniel, the Void Thomas to attack Tenebris, and the Void Necron to attack Thomas.
That should plant seeds of doubt in their little group. If everything worked correctly, that seed would grow into full-blown mistrust. They would still be forced to work together (hopefully), but with none of the advantages of such an arrangement.
It would be perfect, if I could pull it off.
Entry
A man popped out of the corner, flicked his wrist and summoned Void Wolvers on the spot. The man ran away, presumably thinking that we would die. The others readied their weapons, while I stood there, motionless in thought. Suddenly, a lightning bolt was shot in front of me, setting the tile in front of me ablaze with fire. I laughed mentally for a moment, before summoning both my swords and readying a battle stance. The person who shot the lightning bolt was surrounded by Void wolvers and Carnavons, but I assumed it was to make us concentrate on him. In a display of supernatural powers, he formed a crystal dome around him and materialized a thunderbolt in his hand. A Void Wolver lunged at me, but I twisted around it and sliced it in the back with Chaos Edge, sending a crescent of darkness after it just to be safe. It disintegrated as I ran towards the man with strange powers.
A Carnavon breathed cursed wind at me, but I swiftly boosted to the side in a nick of time. I kept my eyes on it as I was running, and almost instinctively stabbed it in the chest with Soul Edge once it was within thrust range, leaving me with dead weight on my sword. As I was running, 4 Carnavons surrounded me, forcing me to stop. I immediately plunged Soul Edge into the ground, knelt and stood up again in few seconds, sending light pillars to hit each and every one of those Carnavons, exterminating them. Breathing a sigh of relief and annoyance, I threw Soul Edge backwards, and materialized it in my hand again, this time, without the Carnavon stuck on it.
I ran towards the dome in an amazing display of supernatural speed, either dodging or killing all the Void Wolvers and Carnavons that came my way.
This is no ordinary villain. It's time to stop the charades. No more holding back.
I limped around the now demolished Haven, destroyed by the swarm. I wasn't there then, as I was in a coma, from the Gremlin-Spiral War. I tense up as a hand touches my shoulder. I instinctively turn, hand reaching for my blaster, but then it was Raechal. I still wasn't used to my new prosthetic legs. My real legs were blown up by a Nitrome, friendly-fire. Then I heard it. Screams, and blaster-fire, coming from the bazaar. I start off at that direction, when Raechal restrained me. "OH no. You are NOT going off into battle again."
I looked at her, then I put on my cute-face digital mask. "Pwease...... I never fought the swarm before....."
She looked at me for a second, and smiled. "Fine." I quickly materialized my miracle cloak and hood, and donned them. I then unsheathed my Boltbrand.
"But...... Promise me you won't get another body part blown off."
"Alright." I smile at her, gave her a quick peck on her forehead, and limped off into battle.
By the time I arrived at the Bazaar, I instantly regretted getting there.
Charge!
I charged in the mess, Haven had been turned into a battlefield. Corpses were laying about left and right, Swarm monsters were all over the place. Things were not looking pretty.
With an Acheron in each hand, I sliced through a Swarm Knight, and then another. Of course, they didn't see it coming, or I would be outnumbered by now. I had reduced about 5 Swarm Monsters into a pile of black-purple dust before they noticed me. But then, I saw it.
It striked a dark fear into my heart. Any weak-minded person would immedietely succumb to this immense power of fear and darkness. Somehow, I maintained my composure. This..figure wore a skull mask and hood and cloak. Then I saw him battling Nathaniel. In the corner of my eye, I saw what looked like a high ranking Swarm soldier summoning more and more monsters. I looked back to the skulled figure. We had to stop the soldier before he had hundreds of swarm monsters summoned. Acherons in my hands, I charged towards him.
(I might have gotten somethings wrong in this entry, this entire scene is kind of confusing)
It took me quite a while for
It took me quite a while for me to be able to detonate the bombs. Not because I was waiting mind you, No. It was because some idiot knight ran up here to hide from the attack. Because he was looking behind him, he blindly tackled me catching me off guard, and thus knocking my detonator from my hands and somewhere in the room. I probably should have seen that coming, as this room is stocked like a bomb shelter. Anyway he had absolutely no armor, so I easily dispatched him and threw him in the corner. I then spent the following 7~10 uneventful minutes looking behind and under everything, before finally finding it in-between 2 steps of the stairs. It sadly did not land on the big red button.
I pressed the button, then stabbed the random knight's dead body roughly 17 times for causing such an inconvenience. Anyway, the bombs went off sending shards everywhere, catching the knights off guard. It also bonked quite a few on the head before exploding, damaging them and making them be in even more of a panic then before. Sadly, the worst that happened was a very dis-configured leg to a knight in a very unlucky position, but I wasn't trying to kill anyone directly. This was mainly to help with the attack, but I was still hoping SOMEONE would die. I then remembered the guy in the corner. It of course hit some swarm to, but their resilient enough to take a small explosion. Except maybe the void gel, but I hated them anyway.
I decided to get to the rooftops to help snipe some people, so I ran up the stairs. I got to the top, and quite a few snipes scattered as I ran to the edge of the roof. I was about to hit some random bystander when I remembered that group of four I was spying on. They sounded mildly important. I sent a quick wind sphere blindly with my Spryllion then ran over to their side and dropped a bomb, not even knowing if they where still there. "I hope this hits someone" I whispered to myself as I looked down to watch the explosion.
The knights were bugs. When one was killed another seemed to scurry out and try and attack us. Another charged at me, this one wielding dual acherons. Idiot. The Swarm absorbed darkness. He slashed at me a few times before I blasted him away with a shadow blast, if he knew what was good for him he'd stay down. I summoned more forces, 2 hours time was ticking down.
Athena
After one of the men started talking again, most of the townspeople dispersed and returned to their normal business. A tall, imposing man wearing a jet black version of the Chaos Se- oh crap. Swarm. The man strolled over and smirked, "Sorry, couldn't help but overhear that, I don't think you'll be going anywhere." I cocked an eyebrow arrogantly and chuckled. The man waved his hand, and immediately, six drooling Carnavons and three vicious, frothing Void Wolvers materialized out of the shadows. "You won't be helping out anyone after this." He laughed sadistically. Suddenly, he turned tail and sprinted away. A growl escaped from my throat as I stared down the monsters. Just as I was about to attack, one of the guys instantly summoned a group of light pillars and destroyed the monsters. As he ran off, I stared in bewilderment. A Holy Light Angel... I thought we had killed them all off. A frown spread across my face. If those guys were still in existence... I'd have to eliminate him before he could pose a threat. Folding my injured wings to my back, I sprinted after him, my eyes blazing with grim determination.
How convenient. I only managed to kill a Carnavon and a Void Wolver before the phase-blade user suddenly erupted light from the very floor of Haven itself, temporarily blinding everyone, save for him and the boss up front.
As my vision cleared, I found myself stumbling after a girl, who was apparently follo-
Wait, wings? She had WINGS?!
Well, she did kind of crash-land, and she seemed to not have done anything detrimental for Haven. Anyhow, she appeared to be following the rest of the combatants, to which I also followed.
Shaking my head clear of any doubts, I still continued on behind her, soon recovering from the disorientation.
Coming!
I was assured by the nice-smelling lady that she would keep my secret safe, or something along those lines. With her mind, as I remember. I was confused as to how she could do that, but there was another problem on the way. Literally. Smelling the air, I was surprised to suddenly smell the Swarm. They must have been downwind from me. I snuck away quickly and started running towards the source, the south gate. Taking my gun off of my shoulder, I checked the Solar Charge. Crap. It was less than a quarter. That means I'd get only ten shots unless I could find an ammunition pack. Unlikely. I continued running towards the gate. Black and magenta Wolvers and Zombies materialized everywhere.
I stood in shock as I heard something familiar. The howls of fully transformed Wolver-Knights. I took my hat off to hear it better, exposing my canine ears to the midnight wind. It sounded like rage and fear at the same time. I took my tail back out too. No holding back now. I gritted my teeth and concentrated on the task at hand. Ten shots. I turned and took aim at a group of Carnavons, blasting and electrocuting their revived hearts, ending their undead life. Nine. Just as I had fired a burst of photonic energy, I spun around after I heard the feral growl of a Swarm Wolver, managing to mostly dodge its sharp teeth. It did leave a gash across my face though. Doing my best to ignore the pain, I fired a shot at the Wolver, sending it and a couple more flying and landing on the ground motionless a few feet away. Eight.
I charged a shot, letting it loose into a group of Carnavons slowly lumbering towards me. It managed to destroy one, but the others looked unscathed. Seven.
I dashed through an opening back to the Square. It would be difficult, nearly impossible. to fend off all of these monsters with just seven shots. And on top of that, the Swarm wound on my face was quickly festering. I continued running, applying pressure to the wound on my cheek. Suddenly, I smelled more odd people. One was very nice-smelling, like that lady, and so was another, who I couldn't see. I did, however, see a winged figure in the square, being confronted by another man, who reeked of Swarm. The man suddenly ran away, and the girl was left alone with Swarm monsters. Just as she was about to attack, pillars made out of luminous... stuff, erupted from the ground. The winged girl ran away towards them, leaving me alone with the monsters. I fired two shots, taking most of them out, and leaving three from the original ten. Five.
A Swarm Wolver ran towards me, teeth bared and ready to tear my throat out. I fired a shot into the oncoming animal, leaving me blinded for a few seconds. Four.
I found her again.
I called out to her, "Hey! Who are you chasing? And why do you smell nice?" I was strangely curious about these things. Maybe my social personality was coming out again. I hope she doesn't mess with my ears or nibble my tail, like those Mewkats do. I smelled another guy too, a regular Knight. Well, I better get ready to answer some questions.
The Master Plan
The Master
The young fool immediately took my bait and charged at me, failing to see the Swarm spores I had generated around me on the ground. With the spores now on his body, all I needed to do was inflict a minor wound in order to corrupt him.
I decided to leave that to Axis, but not before I'd toyed with Nathaniel for a bit. It'll be so much fun demolishing his ego, watching him try in vain to break my barrier.
The barrier was within range of my swords, and I started slashing at it, though it had no effect. That left me dumbfounded for a few moments, since I did not know of anything that could withstand the force of both Soul Edge and Chaos Edge combined. My countenance was filled with confusion, and I backed away for a few moments, before summoning four light pillars and sending them after the barrier. All four of those light pillars were simply deflected after they touched the barrier, hitting innocent civilians and knights who happened to be in the crossfire. However, it made a few small cracks in the barrier, but other than that, nothing.
Impossible... I've never seen anything that could reflect my light concentrated into pillars... What is this force?
I de-materialized both my swords, and attempted to create a concentrated sphere of chaos on my right hand. Immense power was surging into it as I was surrounded by a dark aura, my eyes glowing a dark blue.
"Give in to chaos, Nathaniel...."spoke a voice inside my head. "It will grant you power beyond darkness itself.... It will grant you power beyond imagination.... It will grant you the power to defeat all who dare oppose you...."
More power was surging into it as I struggled to keep it under control, my hands shaking from the amount of chaos put into it. The dark aura around myself became more concentrated as the sphere of chaos became darker, my eyes growing dark-purple by the minute. The man in the barrier appeared surprised at this; he probably wondered how I controlled a force even beyond darkness itself. But beyond his mask, he seemed to be smiling. That aggravated me, and put more power into the sphere, giving it a tinge of dark-purple. My aura shifted from a dark aura to a dark-purple one, increasing my power to unimaginable extents. Small spores started floating off of my clothing, making me wonder how they got there in the first place. Then a voice spoke to me in my head:
I did a favor for you, Nathaniel. The strong destroy the weak. Chaos is stronger than darkness, though it may seem like both are the same. That is a common misconception. Anyhow, now that you understand the power of Chaos, send that concentrated sphere of Chaos it at that weak barrier. I promise you, if the sphere hits that barrier, that barrier and its creator will not survive this explosion.
More power surged into me as the sphere became more powerful. I struggled to keep it under control, but it was just too much for me to comprehend. I lost control, and let go of the sphere. It was shot on the ground below the barrier, creating a huge explosion, its radius covering Haven. The last thing I saw before blacking out was the barrier cracked a little bit more, with the man in it still smiling.
Who is the Master?
Message from Master to Axis,
I need you to inflict a wound upon Nathaniel. It need not be a grevious wound; a minor cut will do the trick, provided it be deep enough to bleed. I intend to corrupt him using a little-known feature of the Swarm; if you would like a demonstration, meet me in the Core Passage (a.k.a. Unknown Passage).
Bring a Knight with you. You're going to enjoy what I have in store for it.
Give my regards to Her Ladyship Gwenyvier, will you?
Battle Ready..... Not?
Honestly, I don't really get the scene right now, so I'll pop right in now.
I duck as a knight sends a Carnavon flying over my head. I quickly materialized my Boltbrand and swung it at the nearest monster, which happened to be a Swarm Wolver. It howls as I released a wave of Shock, sending him flying. I glance around the battlefield. I see a few knights, fighting void monsters, and a evil, hovering figure. I staggered back, suddenly feeling weak. That person..... He must be behind all this. Then I suddenly hear a female voice shout, "Hey! Who are you chasing? And why do you smell nice?" I turn to see a girl, with ears and a tail. I realized with a start it was one of the wolver-knight mutations. I quickly charge over there, hoping to tackle her, rendering her impossible to attack the knights in combat. I charged at her, de-materializing my sword and materializing my Volt driver, hoping to shock her, rather than kill. I lunge forward....
Deep down in the Clockworks...
Hookshot, check.
Booster pack, check.
Zip line, check.
Vitakit, check.
Length of rope, check.
Canteen, check.
Haze bomb, check.
Winter made sure that she had everything she needed before leaving Emberlight. She'd heard rumors of a fallen knight somewhere in depth 24, and she had to prepare for the worst. She took the elevator and headed down. It took her several hours to skip through most of the depths. After greeting Basil and handing him one of her famous no-bake cookies, she ventured into depth 24, the Aurora Isles.
There she observed a curious sight. In the middle of the level was a portal, beyond which could be seen a part of Blackstone Bridge. Just beyond the portal, she saw what looked like...a leg?? She stepped inside for a closer look. Almost immediately, a slag jumped at her. She tossed a haze bomb at it, pushed it over the ledge, and continued to examine the object on the ground. It was indeed the leg of a knight. She gently picked it up and looked around for the rest of him, which was laying just beyond a closed gate and surrounded by slags.
She shot her hookshot to the roof and flew over the gate, immediately grabbing the attention of the enemy. She tossed a haze bomb at them, tied a rope around his body, tossed another haze bomb at the slags, and shot the hookshot to the roof on the other side of the gate. She hit the booster pack, and with the added force of the hookshot, hauled him safely over the gate. The slags growled angrily, but were unable to reach her.
She proceeded to reattach his leg. The knight groaned and looked at her. "Hey...angel...thanks..." he muttered. Winter put a finger to his mouth and said quietly, "Shush...save your strength." After some skillful surgery and a bit of anesthesia, she successfully reattached the leg. He would have to relearn how to use it. She put his arm over her shoulder and helped him walk through the portal and back to the elevator to Haven.
Neither of them was prepared for what they saw there.
Dissolution
Light.
Nothing else registered.
The only sensation was a penetrating light.
~
I opened my eyes. Struggling to sit up, I burst into a fit of coughing. The air had a sharp taste to it. Like copper...or something else. Something I'd never experienced before.
...What happened?
I raised my head and looked around. Haven was devastated. The smoldering remains of the Bazaar lay in a heap on the ground. I barely recognized the place. The bodies of the dead, both knight and monstrosity, littered the ground around me.
I struggled to remember what had happened last. There was the irritated mercenary and the random girl. And then there was that psycho who pulled his swords on me. I'll have to pull up his files later on. See who he thinks he is, and who he really is.
I recalled Haven being attacked by the Swarm infested legion, and I remembered the satisfaction of personally relieving the Swarm of it's servants. After that though, I was at a loss.
Just then, a debilitated looking knight ran up to me. A Corporal, by the looks of his uniform.
"Commander Malum, Sir. I've been asked by Lieutenant Feron to bring you to him immediately."
"Lead the way, Corporal."
As he led me through the streets, I struggled to hide the mixed emotions I was feeling. Horror, at the carnage and destruction displayed before me. Curiosity, at what could have done such a thing.
A booming voice beckoned me from the Town Square. "Over here Commander."
I turned to see who it was, and sure enough, there was Feron. Nothing on this blasted planet could hide that knight. He was as tall as I was, and that's saying something!
"I heard that you wanted to see me, Sir?"
"That's right, Commander. You see, we've been searching for the source of the explosions, and I'm thinking you'll find one of our results.... intriguing."
Feron stepped aside, and there, lying in a crater, was the unconscious form of the man with the swords.
Feron gestured towards the suspect. "I want you to find out what he knows."
"Gladly, Sir."
"Oh, and Commander. When you're finished, we've also had reports of multiple smaller bombs around the perimeter of Haven. I'd like you to check that out as well."
"Affirmitive."
Yep...just another day at work...
