First, let's try and make sure that there's no problem with your Spiral Knights installation by deleting the game and installing a fresh copy. You won't lose any progress on your knight by doing this.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\spiral knights) and delete any remaining files or folders.Ideally at this point you should be able to launch the game and play normally.
Thats the thing....Steam won't even start or open. I have contacted Steam support, but they haven't said anything for 2 days now. Really annoying :(
Now i think the GMs should allow you to use the client now so GMs what u say let him change to the client version ? !
The Steam Knowledge Base has additional information on how to also try manually removing Steam to make sure you can perform a completely clean install.

Try clicking the "play" link at the top of the page here, and avoid using steam altogether. If you do manage to get steam working, then you can transfer your account to it.
Not really a fix, but will most certainly get you in game.
