Re: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Lichen

I'd like to expand on the Giant Lichen Colony, but I don't have all the information I need. The wiki is misleading, at the least, to say, "although Giant Lichen Colonies can absorb other lichens, it can no longer grow in size."

The problem with this is that while it's true it won't grow in size, it can absorb more lichen and gain an attack. I usually try to keep this from happening though, so I've only seen it once and don't have video proof, but it was around 8 or 9 lichens absorbed, and gained a spinning attack that instead of shooting out spikes only, shot out explosive jelly balls (the same kind that are left when a Super Blast Cube explodes).

I don't know what type of damage it is, and would like to hear more about this. I'll try to form another when I'm in the Jelly Palace, but if I court the Lichen/slimes in the wrong way, they can just turn into 2 lichen colonies, which can't join each other. I'm sure someone else has seen this, even if you're all so awesome at killing lichens before they colonize.

Sounds like fun!

That sounds... interesting. I never heard of anyone who encountered this type of lichen before, which is why we said that GLCs can absorb more lichens, but cannot grow in size. It's not misleading, it's just that it was never discovered by anyone.

I'll try it out later this evening just for kicks.

I can confirm this is not

I can confirm this is not true.

I just went on a suicide mission on a depth 12 danger room to test this, letting every lichen fuse into a single humongous one - At least 12 tiny slimes were absorbed past the size limit on the Giant Lichen Colony. There were no changes to the attacks, appearance, size, etc. It was simply the exact same.

You most likely thought the Super/Ultra Blast cubes that might have been around, (if this was on the Jelly Palace or a danger zone) and that spewed some goo balls were the Giant Lichen Colony. Or maybe this was a bug, I dunno. But I'm pretty sure this is not intended. (not even the first time I let all lichens fuse into a single one)
