So, as the topic title says, I could do with a little advice help of what difficulty does it drop on, what missions to spam or arcade?(idk which is better),
And not to mention is it only stratum six, that these rare as hell things drop from the black kats of doom? Or also others?

Thanks, Harbinger

PS:Is the black kat cowl really dat good? Not to mention that to people who have done that boss fight, how hard is it? :P

BTW:Don't dis me for saying "omg, there's other topics blah blah blah, I couldn't find any regarding my question like this."

Here's a little help

The black cat cowl is good because of its Dmg bonus high and MIS increased low

~~Nuff Said~~

@OP

Missions: Weight of Darkness, Alone in the Dark
Arcade: You will have to check the gates yourself. They change from time to time. Look for undead levels (but not graveyard).
BKC is very good, as Xfight stated. The dmg bonus high is universal (affects all guns,swords,bombs).

On a side note, are you sure only stratum 6 has a chance for the ritual book drop?

Not too sure

EDIT:Yes, Terra-Necro, it has the highest chance there.

so many

Black Kat Cowl is good, but not as good as Chaos. The MSI is nice, but the damage bonus is an odd number (+3). Odd numbers don't work into loadouts as well as even numbers do. But Black Kat Cowl looks neat, and it's rare, so it has extra appeal.

I have seen no reason to believe that Books drop only on Stratum 6.

It's surprising that you couldn't find threads of people trying to figure out how to get the Book. There are many threads on the first two pages of General Discussion. Try there?

The only reason to wear the cowl is if you preffer ugly weapons (namely GF, antiguas) or have enough CTR UVs as to render chaos unnecesary.

It does have less negatives and a positive, so it can be made better.

Black Cat Cowl is amazing for

Black Cat Cowl is amazing for bombers, BKC + MDS + SS2 for MSI V High is essentially the new meta for bombers, at least those that it's avaliable to.

Black Kat Cowls is objectively the most powerful piece of armour in the game. You may think otherwise, but that's only because you're thinking too small.

You can get Max damage, ASI and CTR without Chaos, but you cannot get Very High MSI without Black Kat (or the mercurials, but Black Kat lets you max all the other stuff easier.)

was that the argument?

Was that the argument? It's not clear that MSI+4 is more desirable than having Chaos' buffs on all weapons. Yes, I know that I'm arguing with a big proponent of Chaos.

Let me add to that: Black Kat Cowl SHOULD be the most powerful piece of armor in the game.
Right now chaos is a bit OP imo. Certainly for something coming straight out of HoH.

Also: BKC+Chaos hybrid <3

@Bopp

Well yes. +6 damage, +6 asi, +6 CTR and +4 MSI is better than not having the MSI.

Is this wrong? Is there a benefit to not having MSI?

what loadout

No, I like MSI plenty. But what loadout gives you MSI+4 and +6, +6, +6 on all three types of weapons (leave ASI off bombs if you like)? Sorry, I still don't get what you mean.

Thinking too small, Bopp. Kat Cowl is better than Chaos in the same way that Mercurial Demo is better than Mad Bomber. Mad Bomber is ridiculously more cost effective, but with Merc Demo you can still max out both CTR and damage while keeping the MSI and without the negative stats.

It just takes trinkets and ridiculously expensive UVs.

Zeddy's totally correct here. A lot of weapons don't even have use for CTR. Or well, some.

a comparison

I see. If you are simply studying the theoretical best possible loadout --ignoring cost --- then one based on Black Kat Cowl and Mercurial Demo Suit can get you to

* MSI+4, CTR+6, sword ASI+6, gun ASI+6, bomb ASI+3, and damage like sword+5, gun+5, bomb+4 (depending on how you allocate trinkets).

In comparison, a loadout based on Chaos can get you to combinations like these:

* MSI+2, CTR+6, damage+6, sword ASI+4, gun ASI+4, bomb ASI+0, or
* MSI+0, CTR+6, damage+6, sword ASI+6, gun ASI+6, bomb ASI+3.

Given unlimited money, I would probably go for the Black Kat option myself, as MSI is more fun than damage bonus. So I largely agree with Zeddy. But I still think it's an overstatement to say that Black Kat is objectively better. And all of this ignores the outrageous UV cost of the Black Kat set.

Krakob, I agree that some weapons have poor charge attacks. But huge swathes of the most popular weapons benefit massively from CTR: all bombs, Blitz Needle, alchemers, Brandishes, DA, Fang, Caliburs, catalyzers, Troikas --- right? Anyway, the debate was whether Black Kat was objectively better than Chaos, because it lets you max out all statistics. I disagree that Zeddy is "totally correct".

I mostly referred to his last paragraph which can't really be argued with.

If I am to participate further in the debate, I shall mention the following: perks. They are very very very very useful with BKC because all you need is a monster family perk and BKC to make DI max vs a specific family. This is a lot better than doing it with only one weapon class because you won't find yourself fighting two families of monsters as often as one and you're maximising your perk usage by using a high rather than a medium.

I suppose it would depend a bit on what weapon you primarily stick with. If the only guns you use are stuff like Sentenza and Polaris, CTR will be utterly irrelevant for it. Alchemers are so powerful I don't know why you'd even need a sword, so I wouldn't bother boosting swords at all. If you main in bombs, you can totally max out bombs with a mere CTR medium UV on all of them (rather than very highs, previously required if you used pure merc demo).

Chaos is nice if you want to absolutely max all three weapon types, but most people just care about the one weapon type they like best.

And sure, UVs are very, very costly; but so is the cowl itself. If you're at the stage where you can afford the hat, it'll probably be better.

omg

Krakob, my post demonstrates that it doesn't just take trinkets and UVs. Even with those, you simply cannot max out all of your statistics. Zeddy's last paragraph is very far from "can't really be argued with". Also, Zeddy's and my posts also already include sprite perks. That's how we're getting so much MSI.

I think I'm done with this thread. We're arguing past each other. It's a waste of time, even for someone with standards as low as mine.

What now? I was arguing about BKC being better than Chaos. I was just pointing out something great you can do with only BKC. Of course you won't get the MSI with this method but you most certainly will reach DI max vs a family extremely easily.

It just takes trinkets and ridiculously expensive UVs.
No. You can't argue with that. Super UVs and trinkets solve all problems.

I dunno if we're so much arguing past eachother as much as we're being in total agreement at this point, but using different words.
