Hello there.

I have been playing for a long time now but since I re-installed the game (not long after the pets update), I have been having a major problem. Specifically, the game will be fine for a long time but then at some random point (or not at all), the game will close. No error message, no warning. It just closes. This is annoying enough when clockworking, either with friends or when doing a Vana run, but what is even worse is that upon logging in again, or at least trying to, the game attempts to load where I was and then freezes. Not responding. Until it finally crashes. I'm unable to log in again until after everyone else on the floor has gone in the lift.

This bug cost me my Vana tokens when it happened once, and other times prevents me from getting back to playing with my friends (like when it happened at Snarby level 2, since I can't re-join on a boss level).

I'm using Windows 7 (64-bit)
Running SK through the Steam Client

that's all the technical information I know.

Can someone PLEASE help me on this? It's becoming a real major issue. I can be doing well, right in the middle of an arena/boss/big red button enemy wave, and the game will close and I can't log back in.

Verify your Steam SK

Verify your Steam SK files.
Update your Java version to the latest.
This should resolve the issue, if not, post again.

Done both, it still closed

Done both, it still closed randomly while I was at IMF. and it still crashed when I tried to log in again until it disconnects my Knight from the level. This is becoming infuriating since I can't afford to do boss runs because the game can close at any point and cost me my chance to get heat and as it has already done cheat me of my reward for beating it.

I've had this happen to me a lot as well. It happened to me twice in IMF earlier today. The worst time was when I finished Heart of Ice on elite and the game closed on me while going down the elevator to the treasure room. I couldn't log back in and missed out on my hard earned treasure!

I have the very latest version of Java installed, I've used the java website to remove all the older version's of Java, I've updated my drivers, I redownloaded the game twice, added exceptions for Spiral Knights to my Avira Antivirus, defragged my hardrive, and cleaned my registry.

I've done everything I could think of except sacrifice a snipe to Dark Lord Vanaduke, and the problem still persists.

Well, this relieves me to know I'm not the only one this has happened to, and Sibushang's post helps with knowing what DOESN'T cause the problem.
This bug is the main reason I can't get money on the game; I'm too afraid of doing anything lengthy like FSC in case it closes. I keep my crowns, granted, but lose all future rewards.

Im not alone

Phew same it relieves me also that im not the only one having this problem and i tot it would be my internet again seems its a technical issue what i think is there something wrong with my steam cause this never happen before (beta stages) i convert my sk to steam oh btw i just came back after long time so i havent been around since beta

this usually happens to me after i finish a depth there black screen then suddenly game log out i try to re log in but i can t click the log in button so i have to quit sk so that i could click the log in button
there also black screen each time i travel throught diffrent depth and mission this problem cause it takes time to load up to the loading screen if it dint take me to the loading screen suddenly the game logs out my account with out any error message

Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't.

I had the same problem as well with the sudden closing of SK on Steam; "Java(tm) stopped working" problem. Weird thing is was that it only did this during certain pop ups and exploring specific depths in game and only on the Steam client. Also, both Java and Steam is up-to-date.

So I uninstalled both Java and Steam through control panel, reinstalled them, good as new! :D

Bad thing is that my screenshots are gone and having to install every steam game again, but hey; most screenies were bad and still have my game data on the other games. So if you want to try the uninstall/install thing, you can go ahead.

Well, I did that myself after reading your comment. Thought it was fine. Went to run a friend through IMF and...boom, start of the second level, it closed on its own again. I am getting sick and tired of not being able to enjoy the game because of stuff like this. I need a fix for it, and I've tried EVERYTHING now.
