That's not hair on top of the slime: it's the excretions of dapperness, which he styles with special cream and shaving to give the impression of hair, which is why he's got a "mustache" too: the dapperness of the "hair" can create "mustaches", and affect their length. One will also affect the fullness of the other, creating a self-feeding cycle only inhibited by the person's (or slime's) inherent dapperness.
The result are the dapper slimes known as "Impostocubes" that people see rarely.

The Toopay is a deadly parasite that slowly turns the liquids of its host into solid gold. The Dappekombo is a similar parasite but it turns the solid golds of its host into liquid. Both processes are performed at a speed relative to the parasite's size.

You're all wrong!
It's stuck on with Jelly Glue, thus explaining the fact that when you kill it, you have a chance to get a Toupee as a drop if you didn't shred it to pieces while battling it. Now where did the cube get the toupee, mustache and smoking pipe? All raided from Nick's closet/wardrobe.

Why would Bechamel be friends with Impostocube? Unless...Bechamel is not really a part of the Spiral Order! He's going to betray us!
Or maybe all the Slime cubes have a hormone disorder.
Maybe Impostocubes drop 50 crowns because that's spare change from purchasing their fake Moustache's from the local convenience store.

impostocubes steal toupees and dapper combos from the auction house when no one is looking or they have a secret conspiracy with the workers of the auction house and probably a "few" crowns... :O
Either way, they probably found a way to get to haven undetected meaning they might be possibly smarter then gremlins.
