What gun has the longest range charged attack, and what gun has the longest range regular attack?
Longest range gun?
I coulda swore valiance beat them all. At least that's how it feels
Catalyzer has the longest regular shot.
[edit: I was wrong about AP ]
just curious, doesn't the magnus line have long charge attack have a long range? perhaps more than the alchemer?
Drop a shard bomb and run away. You're gonna be far away by the time it explodes!
Technically Alchemers have the longest range... just not in a straight line.
The Argent Peacemaker has a pretty long range on it's normal shots. The Magnus is a bit shorter range than you'd think. The charge feels like it long range due to it throwing you back, but it isn't *that* great.
The Blitz Needle also has a really long range on it's charge.
Neutralizer and Biohazard have a regular range, but you can fire a clip and retreat far away safely, while the bullets reach their target and hit it.
In my experiences with guns it seems like Catalyzers and Pulsars have that longest range charge attacks and normal attacks. The Blitz Needle following VERY closely behind (I can barely notice a difference at times. In fact I think Blitz may have even more range when I look at a certain angle) with it's normal attack. The charge appears to have slightly less range but not too significant.
Some guns that also have decent range are Blasters and Alchemers. A well aimed Alchemer shot can cover more distance than any gun if it bounces off multiple enemies. If you are the best shot alive you may even hit a switch, in all dealing damage to many enemies and making progress with one bullet! The Magnus line looks like it has some long range, but the range can be deceiving due to knock back of you're own character.
Edit: Oh look, this thread came back! Man, my grammar really messed up in this post. Fixed it!
Pretty sure its the Blitz needle. Normal attack and charge.
Though pulsar may have it beat. Its between those 2.
-not gonna try to be a smart-a** and say alchemers have longest distance.
I went into my GTH and measured the furthest I could stay away from a sandbag and still hit it with each type of gun. I used keyboard controls to position myself perfectly facing north.
I'm attacking the slime training bag.
Keep in mind that these ranges will apply to enemies and does not necessarily represent which gun is best for reaching switches at distances, for instance.
Valiance: Can hit while standing ~8 tiles away. (Just behind the ledge south of the bags) Sometimes misses due to small spread about 5 degrees, but range seems fixed.
Charge (tested horizontally due to ledge being in the way): Effective range of ~7.5 tiles. Shot travels ~6.5 and then explodes in a ~1 tile radius, scoring a hit.
Biohazard: Can hit while standing ~9 tiles away. (Standing on the border of the two rows behind the ledge.) Appears very accurate. I see no divergence in the shots' angles, but when I'm at the very edge of the range, sometimes some shots will hits while others miss.
Charge: ~8 tiles.
Callahan (Tested horizontally. Distance is counted before recoil.): 6-7.5 tiles. Shots fire at an accurate angle, but range is unpredictable. Shots have slight amount of AoE upon destruction.
Charge: 9-9.5 tiles after explosion AoE. Hits a lot further than it looks.
Magma Driver (measured horizontally): 6-6.8 tiles, with strong bias to the lower range. Before ricochets, shots appear accurate, but have deceptively large variation in range. Range of ricochets appear to be the same as the regular shots. Ricochets have a randomized angle somewhere between directly back to the user and about 60 degrees clockwise compared that vector.
Charge: Range appears to be ~9 tiles, with some slight variation going below that. Ricochets appear to go at fixed angles I can't be bothered to measure at the moment. The larger ricochets at the back cannot produce ricochets of their own, but the smaller ones at the front can bounce a couple of times each.
Carbine: 8-8.5 tiles. Shots appear entirely accurate, but with varying range.
Charge: The 5 first shots act the same as regular shots, but fire faster. Tentacles can hit up to a little more than 9.5 tiles away, but range varies below that.
Plague Needle: Able to hit up to ~8.5 tiles away, but obvious spread in angle (about 10 degrees) makes it unreliable.
Charge: Up to the same. Angles appear fixed, but range has slight variation going below 8.5.
Polaris: Up to ~8.5 tiles after explosion. Accurate, but slight range variation. Shots expand after ~3.5 tiles, but may expand a little sooner than this. AoE has ~1.5 tile radius.
Charge: ~8 tiles after explosion. Slight range variation. AoE appears to be the same as expanded shots.
Pepperbox: Hits up to ~5.2 tiles away, but mostly doesn't go that far due to spread.
Charge: Even though the shots visually have a much shorter travel distance, the effective range appears equal. If you can hit with the regular shots, the charge will hit much more reliable due to the tight packing of the bullets. The bullets themselves appear to have a wider hitbox than needles.
Winmillion: Hits up to ~5 tiles away. Range varies and most projectiles don't go quite that far.
Charge: Up to 5-5.8 tiles away. Range varies.
Wrench Wand: ~9.8 tiles, but .8 of those are the knight stepping forward before launching the projectile. Still very impressive. Has leftwards knockback for no reason.
That's funy. The sword with a projectile goes longer than all guns..... kinda pathetic though...
Zeddy, I wasn't asking for swords, but I had no idea Wrench Wand had longest range. o.o
Did you test out the Iron Slug? I heard it was the same as Magnus but it explodes, so I guess that could count as a little extra range than the Magnus right?
Longest range attack is throwing pots and vials btw.
@Zeddy Blitz needle appears random, but upon closer inspection, the bullets from normal attacks always travel in the same pattern.
I'm unable to recognize this pattern. Could you describe it for me? Does the range of bullets vary? What's the explanation for me getting a different amount of hits on a bag when I don't move and don't adjust my aim?
Does it have a set of patterns it cycles through? Sometimes I've had all my bullets go left, which is very distinct from what I usually see come out of my Plague.
I have no idea how many tiles are seen on the radius outwards from our knight, but I've shot offscreen with my AP.
What about silversix?
Cautery has best range. I swear.
I do not have a GTH so I went into the regular Training Hall and fired directly north at a timed exploding block. I wore Infernal Guardian Armor and used the feet glow to position myself exactly on the line between tiles. All shooting was done facing North, and distance counted does not include recoil.
I agree with Zeddy on the Biohazard.
I disagree slightly on Obsidian Carbine, Polaris and Wrench Wand.
Obsidian Carbine: 9 tiles exactly (at max range not every shot hits)
Obsidian Carbine Charge: 10 tiles exactly (at max range not every shot hits)
Polaris: 8.5 tiles to edge of explosion
Polaris Charge: 8.5 tiles (looks like 9 tiles with the 0.5 tile recoil) to edge of explosion
Wrench Wand Charge: 9.5 tiles (10.25 tiles with a 0.75 tile step forward)
My additions to the weapon testing:
Proto Gun: 8.5 tiles
Charge: 8.75 tiles (looks like 9.25 tiles with the 0.5 tile recoil) to edge of explosion
Blitz Needle: 9 tiles (sometimes doesn't hit, probably because of the random firing pattern).
Charge: 9 tiles
Umbra Driver: 7 tiles
Charge: 9.5 (has 0.75 tile recoil)
Argent Peacemaker: 9 tiles exactly (at max range not every shot hits)
Charge: 10 tiles exactly (at max range not every shot hits)
Drakon: ~8 tiles (I think--can someone verify?)
Drakon with Meteoric Firebolt: 10.25 tiles (verified: AP could not hit from this distance. It was more than 10 but less than 10.5 tiles)
Acheron Charge: 7.25 tiles (looks like 8.25 tiles with the 1 tile step forward)
Obsidian Edge Charge: 7.25 tiles (looks like 8.25 tiles with the 1 tile step forward)
Thrown Vials: between 19.75 and 20.25. It's hard to be exact, because the target is almost off the screen.
@Zeddy thanks for being so thorough! You rock!
@Usevnsevnsixfivfor See Acheron and Obsidian Edge
@Jason-Is-Cool Yes! Drakon has more range than any gun.
In Conclusion:
Longest regular guns are the 5* Catalyzers, the 5* Antiguas, and Blitz Needle.
Longest charge shot are the 5* Antiguas.
Wrench Wand gets insane distance for a sword, but not as much as 5* Antiguas.
Drakon with Meteoric Firebolt beats everything.
You can just go into one the larger guild halls that are open and have a GTH. Eos and Impervious are usually open and have them
I've really only tested on the blocks on the beginning of Legion of Almire second floor. AP and Alchemer charges can barely hit the furthest two blocks.
First off, you just necro'd an almost year old thread.
2nd, did you even read what you just typed?
I dont there was a single correct part of that sentence factually
This has already been answered in the wiki:
The Overcharged Mixmaster has the furthest range by half a tile, closely followed by all antigua lines.
Charge attack : Alchemer line
Normal attack : Argent Peacemaker line / pulsar line
