What are you going to do to make up for your lies? maybe some more flash sales, maybe bring back some boxes, drop the price of silver keys for a while or something. i'm not a gunner, but you still affected me, as well as hundreds of other gun users, looking for some much needed change.
Since you lied to us about the update...
and that turned out to be a lie now, didn't it?
Three Rings said they were aiming for a November release. Yes, that announcement had far too many puns in it, but their official statement gave an estimate, not a release date. Besides, November isn't over yet. Give them a break. Game developers are people too.
Edit: people respond faster than my touchscreen.
i am giving them a break. by suggesting simple restitution, low impact restitution instead of, GIVE FREE AURAS
No. No it did not. They aimed for a November release and they failed but they still aimed for it.
As a gunslinger, I can wait. Please don't speak on others behalf. If it's something they're not sure of that should be released, then give them time to work on it so we don't have another rushed *insert name here* again.
And yes, as Krakob said, it was not promised to be released this month.
Cheers.
Edit: I got bodied and greninja'd by above posters.
Well the only thing they havent given us yet its the way to get the other "Proto armor" when the new proto armors got added, Nick promised we could get the new proto armors in other ways and at this date they havent added that way :T and still waiting to get my Fancy Proto Flak Jacket and probably a Heavy Proto Flak Jacket.
But anyway they only said aiming kinda different to said "we going to release". but i was expecting this too since on "every update" on spiral knights preview didnt saw anything new besides the weapon and the "enemy" was kinda expecting to see the new gunner armors. but after the last week i supposed they will delay the gunner update.
I want to believe in Draycos word, about "they going to delay the update because they saw our reaction about the obsidian weapons and to avoid to make the same mistake, they decided to rework most of the weapons so they can be kinda new guns and not just a "status change" on same weapons we know"
and if that true i wouldnt mind to wait the gunner update because that mean new weapons with really new mechanics and not just status change.
Technically they HAVE added a way to get other proto armour. They just aren't the traditional color schemes. In other words, you've got Hunter, Surge, Hallow, and Frosty proto sets.
Can people not post their personal opinions without other people hating. OP is right. If 000 can't meet a date then dont say it then. Obviously the update will involve a lot of work, all they have to say is so and so update will be released. Or the next update will be...etc.. If people on this forum are too impatient to wait thats their problem not 000. They mentioned November first, now its January. That is a lie, end of.
Daaang. For the record everybody, I didn't mean to double post.
I disagree. Like the posters above, you can't break a promise that never existed. OOO openly announced that they would aim to release in November. The keyword here is aim. They never said they will make sure it would release at some point in November. A claim of effort, not a claim of results. Although they should be more realistic when making these estimates.
Also, you can't expect to post on a forum without thinking someone will challenge you, or agree with you.
No Arc, to everything in your post.
First off, OP is not posting an opinion. OP is claiming 000 lied, a statement which is entirely false. Three rings never set a date to meet, they announced a goal. You can't break something you never set in the first place.
Secondly, we WANT the devs to keep us posted. In fact thats the very thing this community has been demanding of 000 for months now. What you suggested is essentially what happened in the shard update, and that was a disaster.
Finally, all this negative backlash is only digging the community into a deeper hole. We complain when OOO doesnt give us information. we complain when they start giving us info. Now 000 stops listening to what the forum have to say cause clearly it doesn't know what it wants
Oh, it definitely knows what it wants.
It's just that whenever we get info, it's not enough, or in older cases, it's a design choice that most people don't agree with (shards are a big example)/
My point is this. 000 knows how childish and lame most of the people are on this forum. Therefore they should post things more carefully or don't post at all. I work in a multidisciplinary team to provide healthcare services to our patients. If I said to my team "I aim to reach 99% of our targets by December 2013" my team will expect that I will reach 99% of my targets by December. If by December I turn around and say sorry guys I have to move it to March 2014, I wont be a very reliable person and my position as team leader will be forfeited. The people at head office may even question my ability to lead and reach those targets.
Besides this isn't the first time 000 have gone back on what they said. OCH was one of them. Only now after said months is the game available to purchase via energy.
Edit: to make things easier on themselves simply don't let the community know of any major updates. If the community moan just ignore them. 000 are doing a good job of that right now anyway, as one of you clearly pointed out.
Perhaps better phrasing is it appears to not know what it wants. The issue is cases like these where people indiscriminately lash out against 000 without giving it any proper thought. It hurts our credibility.
If I was at 000 and I had to deal with this nonsense every announcement, (from a small fraction of the people actually playing the game no less) I'd be very reluctant to spend my time listening to it or really posting at all
Edit: @arc But again, that would be a step in the opposite direction. Why even have the forums them if the community isn't going to be treated seriously? 000 shouldn't have to accommodate the childish players when they have the full capability of not being childish
If only I could moderate on these forums as I can on the steam don't starve forums.
Edit: if 000 could accurately relay information to us then alls good. I dont really care if this update comes next year, I only came on after 6months to see how far this game and community has improved. Obviously everything is where I left off.
and that turned out to be a lie now, didn't it?
lol what sort of a law student is this egregiously bad at semantics
Don't get me wrong I think 000s are a great company, and they have helped me out a lot. But I see the same thing over and over. When it comes to cosmetic updates we get those willy nilly. When it comes to some important actual game changing thing there is always a problem. Sorry if you don't like it but it is my personal opinion and a fact. Some of you even posting against the OP have said your fair share against 000s, it's kind of pathetic how you are coming across all goody tooshoes now. Have I missed something in the past 6 months?
Edit: So I repeat again 000s please stop letting us know when you intend to release any major new content. Idiotic people will post stupidity regardless, that way at least we can say to them 000s has not told us anything so stop asking. If an update comes it comes.
Three Rings doesn't owe you anything, especially considering how they damn near killed themselves just getting the Apocrean stuff out before Halloween, judging by Nick's tweets from just before the update:

Crunch time is horrible and people shouldn't have to throw away their holidays just so you can play a video game update a little sooner.
There were no lies. A November release was targeted. They missed. Under usual circumstances, this would mean we get the release the next month. However, the next month is frakking December. Do you know what happens in December?
Everything.
Everything happens in December.
Employees take their holidays, it's the end of the business year, bankbooks get wrapped up, there's holiday events both in-game and out of it. There's also holiday exams, meaning us players will be pretty busy around this time as well, so the update would be lost on us anyway. It's just not very sane to release a patch of this scope in December, so we'll see it in January.
When you're unsure about whether or not something is a lie, ask yourself how much the accuracy of a statement is within the control of the person speaking. In this case, the speaker's intention was a November release. In the case of a statement like "It is not our intention to reduce the power of these bombs in any way", it's very clear the speaker is talking out of their butts because it's obvious to absolutely everyone how reduced said power was.
Let's reserve accusations to actual malignance, lest the act loses its weight.
I wouldn't be so hard on them if they just fixed the lack of radiants. This is utterly ridiculous when it comes to heating your gear. Not to mention the forge takes twice as many crystals with each level... But no, they have to mislead people, assume we'll just go, oh OK, we can wait for another 2 months. Yes, it's the holidays, no it actually doesn't take long to do what they are trying to make with this update, and honestly, it's not hard to give a simple sentence explaining why radiants are becoming darkfang rarity.
To be honest, I didn't see the need for the Forge system anyway. What was wrong with the original heating system?
If it's not broken, don't fix it, right?
It balances out the free elevators.
No, it doesn't. Regardless of free elevators you'd still have to grind out the required heat in order to level up your gear. You still have to put in the time and work to get your equipment leveled up. All the Forge does is piss people off.
They could've simply increased the heat requirements to level up equipment and that would've been fine. The Forge system doesn't balance anything, it's just an unnecessary pain in the butt.
Obviously if things were balanced we would not have the free auto-revive.
Before you had to pay to run. Now you don't which makes it free to level up. Yes free, because you aren't forced to buy the Crystals.
Yes, leveling up gear requires more grinding now, but it's the price we pay for the game truly being F2P now.
Again, it doesn't matter if you had to pay before, you still had to grind it out to level up your gear. The Forge just makes it incredibly annoying, not balanced.
And actually, if you just played on Mist Energy, then technically you were playing for free.
But playing with JUST Mist Energy is not unlimited, whereas now it is. And I don't follow your reasoning on why it doesn't matter.
And I don't understand why you're trying to defend the Forge system. Everyone agrees it's horrible. There was nothing wrong with the original system.
Okay, fine, not everyone hates it, but nobody can argue that there was nothing wrong with the original system and there was no need to change it.
Just because the popular opinion says it is horrible, doesn't mean the developers' logic behind why it is there is flawed. OOO is not obligated to spell out every single detail and reasoning behind their doings. I'm defending OOO.
If they change something, they owe the player base an explanation WHY they changed it. You're wrong.
Oh really? What makes you think they owe us anything?
Game companies can't just go "Oh, we're going to change the mechanics of this boss fight and not tell you why, because we can." That's how you lose players and profit.
If a major aspect of a game is changed by the developers, it is MANDATORY that they explain why.
Who says gaming companies can change major aspects of a game without giving the loyal player base an explanation? unless they WANT to lose customers.
Well three months ago is AFTER the Battle Sprite update, so it can't be that.
Da heck. How did I double post... o.o
And how the heck did the above end up on the wrong thread....
EDIT: To answer you:
Let's put it this way. Perhaps OOO has compiled graphs and data and have foreknowledge on the intricate details of how specific mechanics work. Mechanics we ourselves are unaware of. If they completely explained in full all the reasoning behind their decision, it would be way above the average player base's head. It would be a jumbled mess and wouldn't make sense to us. And even if someone could understand it, that doesn't mean they agree. But it doesn't matter if that person(s) agree or not because they aren't part of the team that makes the decisions. Still, if they lose some player base over the people upset because they are upset OOO won't explain the finer details of changes, it doesn't make them obligated to say. Besides, that player base would be the lesser important player base.
Yeah, that is weird.
All I'm saying is that making such a huge change to a core mechanic of the game, without giving a good reason why to its players (the new Forge system), was a bad business decision by OOO, and seemingly motivated by greed.
Also, did OOO have to explain why they were doing things when they made the game? Did they have to explain why they made the mechanics of the game the way they did then?
Fair enough, but they could've given us a simple explanation at least. Can you at least tell me what was absolutely wrong with the original heat system?
What was wrong with the old heat system? Before the gigapatch, a single FSC run could heat a 5* item to level 4-6. Then 2-3 more FSC runs to finish it off.
inb4 "Before the gigapatch, a single FSC run costed at least 50 mist."
Before the gigapatch, people were content doing up to two FSC runs and doing LD for the rest of the day. Or you could have paid an easy six dollars a month to get infinite elevators.
The old heat system was not the best imo. Post #48 sums this up nicely.
in addition, people would just run fsc a few times to heat something, max it out in a few hours, then get bored with the game because there's "nothing" to do. And those that did find something, played LD.
I'm guessing the forge was made to expand game time even further. Making people actually work to upgrade stuff than the candy-@#! way old players did it. I'm not saying what I just said is a fact.
Now that's just silly. OOO never said they were going to release in November, they said they were aiming for a November release.
