I first began work on Spiral Knights seven years ago. Since then, there have been many happy surprises, many big changes. And now, I am here to tell you all that another big change for me is underway.
As of today, I have resigned from my position at Three Rings and will be pursuing a new adventure in independent development.
I wanted to take a moment and talk to you about what that means for Spiral Knights.
The Spiral Knights team grew up with me, slowly adding new members over the years. We did this instead of quickly creating a large team once production was underway; we wanted only the very best people that would come to own and invest themselves in the game.
This slow, selective process has lead to a talented, tight-knit group of individuals who all care deeply for the world that we created together. I am just a piece of that team; one knight in the squad. This team is ready, willing and able to face the challenges ahead.
I am excited to see what they will do in the Clockworks next.
I would also like to thank each and every player for making Spiral Knights a success. Seeing you explore the nooks and crannies of the Clockworks, chatting with you about the game and every silly moment I spent with you in Haven has meant the world to me. Spiral Knights is in so many ways a realization of a childhood dream of mine and I can’t thank you enough for supporting it.
To every player and the whole of Three Rings and Sega: you have my deepest thanks and warmest wishes for the future.
And though I now set course for unknown worlds and distant stars, know that a piece of my heart will always remain on Cradle, beating in the chest of a brave little knight; sword in hand and ready to face whatever is next.
