Hello everyone this is my first fan-fiction. I'm trying out a new style: It's first person, but switches between each main character. Anyways, not excepting apps for this story, sorry but i have a storyline fleshed out. Here it is!

Prologue: Planetfall

Flare’s Perspective.

Thrust, block, slash, sidestep, lunge, feint, duck. “This guy is good!” I thought, as I sparred with my training partner up in the Skylark. “Well he is a much higher rank than me.” The training hall was full of the clash of sword on sword as the trainees dueled. My opponent feinted forward then slashed towards my feet. I leapt back and countered with an upward thrust. He deflected my thrust off his shield and while I was off balance he hit me with his shield. I stumbled backwards and regained my balance, quickly going on the offensive I feinted down and slashed upwards. He easily blocked it and thrust at my helmet. I ducked and spun my foot around, sweeping him off his feet and put my sword to his neck. “I win.” I panted,

” Looks like you did” replied Rhendon as he got back up, “The leg sweep was unexpected, where’d you get that from?”

“I, uh, don’t know actually I acted on instinct there.” I replied, still out of breath.

Lieutenant Feron had come over to tell us something. “Nice job Flare you’re getting especially good with the sword.” He told me.

“Thanks, uh Sir.” I stammered out. I was surprised he’d noticed, he usually is watching the other recruits, and correcting their mistakes.

“Hey Flare you deserve a break” Rhendon said clapping me on the back.

“Ok.” That was fine by me I was wiped. I walked over to the break room and sat down on a bench. Almost immediately another recruit popped up and walked over to me.
“Um, hi what can I do for you?” I asked.

“Oh, I was wondering if you could give me a few pointers with the sword, my name is Ted and I’m not very good, so please?”

“Sure thing” I replied “The first tip is to always keep your sword up and also-” I didn’t get any farther because at that moment an explosion rocked the entire ship and threw us off our feet. “What in the world.” I began,

then the intercom crackled and broadcasted “Everyone get to the escape pods the Skylark is going down.”

“Oh no!” Shouted the recruit named Ted. “We better get to the escape pods!” We dashed out of the break room and through the locker room. I stopped for a second to grab my brandish, it was a present for passing initiation. I couldn’t leave it behind. Ted was already gone when I left the rooms. I ran to the escape pod bay and found one as I was looking someone almost ran into me. Better get moving! As I got in I saw the senior knights helping the younger ones get strapped in. I saw Ted being helped by Rhendon. As I strapped myself in, I hoped for the best as I pressed the launch button, and pod launched out into space. Out of the front view window I saw an alien planet getting closer and closer, outside the side window I saw other pods streaking past to the unknown world. My pod raced through the clouds and landed on the top of a valley. I opened the pod door and looked outside into this mysterious world. I wonder what awaits me.

Will’s Perspective

“Man I loooooove guard duty.” I thought to myself as I lounged in my seat. It was my turn to man one of the small turrets on the Skylark. The view was great, but other than that it was mind-numbing boredom. I fiddled with my Blaster, a present for passing initiation, but that was a year ago. The gun was useful, and I kept it with me a lot. I checked the clock for the umpteenth time hoping my shift was up, and one minute had passed. Then out of nowhere something passed by the window, “What the?” I said to myself as I sat up and looked over to where it floated. It was a small chunk of asteroid, no bigger than my head. Just when things might have been interesting. Wait a sec, asteroid? What’s that doing here, are we approaching an asteroid belt? All of a sudden, there was an explosion. The alarm went off and the intercom told everyone to get to the escape pods. I slipped the Blaster into my belt and ran out into the hallway. I knew where the pod bay was so I ran towards it. I wonder what’s happened because the Skylark is a pretty solid ship. I asked one of the new recruits as he ran by.

“I heard something hit the ship.” He said shortly before continuing to the pod bay. What hit the ship? I ran towards the most damaged zone. I saw a gaping hole in the floor, well so much for my curiosity, I’m outta here. I sprinted to the pod bay and almost ran into someone, as I found a pod and strapped myself in. For one second I wondered if we would just float in space, or if there was a planet nearby. I pushed the eject button and felt the pod launch into space. Outside the window I saw the Skylark’s engines smoking and it started to tilt towards the planet the pods were falling towards. I turned to the front window as my pod broke the atmosphere and plummeted to the surface. The pod landed in a rocky formation down in a valley. I opened the door, and stepped out into the awaiting world. I looked around and turned my communication antennae on and hoped someone would contact me. Most of the higher ranking knights would have a radio to detect signals like mine. Inside the pod was a survival kit as well as proto gear, I took the proto gun and shield, but left the sword. Blades were never my strong skill. The shield might come in handy though, and I waited on a rock for someone to contact me. Beep, I jumped at the sudden sound, and realized it was my com. “Hello?” I asked into it.

“Identify yourself.” came the reply.

“This is Apprentice Will” I replied “may I ask who this is?”

“This is Rhendon, and I’m tracking your coordinates from camp.”

“What camp?” I asked puzzled.

“The spiral knights have set up a rescue camp and are searching for escape pods. I’m sending you the coordinates now.” Rhendon said and a map appeared on my helmets HUD.

“I’ll be there as soon as I can sir.” I reported the camp wasn’t too far that was a plus, the downside was that it was through the valley. The valley was filled with rocks of all sizes and it would be hard to navigate. Better start now I guess. I was picking my way through the rocks silently the way I was taught when I heard a noise. It was something heading at a right angle towards me. The rocks in the valley made it almost like a maze. I climbed up on a rock next to me and crawled over towards the noise as quietly as I could. I got to the edge and peeked over trying to see who, or what, it was. I just missed it as it rounded a corner away from me. It was moving slow so I could sneak up behind it. I slowly made my way to the corner and got my proto gun out. I counted down in my head, 3, 2, 1, “here goes nothing,” I stepped forward around the corner, while loading the blaster and I pointed it towards the sound.

Ted’s Perspective

My opponent’s proto sword smashed into my shield. The impact jarred my arm, and I couldn’t raise it for the next swing. I tried parrying it with my sword and it was knocked it from my grasp. I glanced quickly at it then raised my shield. It wasn’t a second too late as my opponents sword collided with the proto shield. I blocked a couple of hits, and then fumbled for my proto gun, before I could draw it my opponent jumped forward and knocked me onto the ground with his shield. I looked up, and shrugged “oh well, maybe next time.” I had lost my ninth sparring match in the training room. The other recruit helped me up

“You’ll do better next time” he encouraged I went over to a bench and watched other sparring matches. Most were pretty quick but then I saw a heated match between a recruit, and recon knight Rhendon. They exchanged blows, then the recruit finished the fight with a leg sweep, that surprised the senior soldier. Compared to me this recruit was really good. I saw Feron walk over and I heard his name, Flare. I saw Flare head to the break room and decided to ask him for some tips. When I went in and asked him, the alarm went off and suddenly before I knew what was happening I was in an escape pod and hurtling towards the alien planet. I looked out the small window and could see multiple other pods streaking by. The pod crashed onto the edge of a valley, and as soon as I caught my breath the pod rolled into the valley. When it finally stopped, I crawled out with the survival kit and proto gear. I strapped the shield on, and holstered the blaster. I looked in the pod to see if there was a way to call for help. There was a button that was emitting a small beep, I pushed it and a map appeared showing a camp somewhere through the valley. I decided I had no time to lose and set off through the small rocky valley. The rocky valley was maze-like and I was taking a lot longer than I thought it would. As I walked along I suddenly noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. I immediately became nervous and held my sword at the ready for a bit. As I walked through the rocky maze I came to a clearing where the rocks were more flat and not a maze. As soon as I stepped into the middle three canine-like animals appeared at the top of the valley on both sides. I looked around at their fierce faces and slowly switched to the proto gun, I raised it and aimed at the closest one. They didn’t realize what the blaster was until an energy bolt slammed into one of them. It was thrown back with a yelp and they all hesitated. Then the biggest one growled and they all leapt into the clearing. I shot at another one but missed, then switched to my sword and held my shield up, ready to defend myself.

Aaaand done! Comments and Criticism plz!

Chapter 1

Chapter 1: The meeting

After I exited the pod, I got my gear together: proto gear minus the gun because I still had my brandish with me. I learned where the rescue camp was so I set out down and through the valley. Huh, maybe I shouldn’t have gone down into the valley. Valley was a rocky maze that was very confusing. I kept my hand on my brandish and slowly made my way through the maze. It was when I had rounded a corner and had gone a couple of steps when I heard a slight sound from behind me. It was rounding the corner towards me. I spun on my heel and in one swift motion drew my brandish from its scabbard. By the time I had fully turned around I had my proto shield up and sword at the ready to face, a proto gun? I lowered my shield slowly as the gunman did the same. He was a knight, like me, but looked a little older and had light-blue armor.

“Who are you?” He asked

“I’m Flare, a new recruit to the skylark.”

“New recruit? Recruits don’t have brandishes. The name’s Will, nice to meet you Flare.”

“Nice to meet you to Will.” I replied then I thought of something “Are you heading to the rescue camp?”

He nodded and replied, “Did Rhendon contact you too?”

“Rhendon? No my pod showed me a map to it.”

“Oh” He replied. “Well let’s get on our way.” We picked our way through the maze for a few minutes then Will held a hand out to stop me. “Hear that?” He said in a low voice.

“What is it?” I replied in a whisper.

“I hear… trouble. C’mon!” He exclaimed and bolted towards the noise. Say what? I ran after him sword in hand ready for anything.

* * *

As Flare and I ran to the noise it got louder and louder. I noticed Flare I little behind me and I used the time to vault up onto the higher rocks and continued running. As we reached a clearing I drew my Blaster and took in the view for a sec, taking in the situation. A recruit in Proto gear was fending off a pack of, wolf-fox things, and was being cornered by the remaining five monsters. I put my shield on my back, and drew my proto gun. Flare glanced at me and I nodded, he charged towards the five and I shot one of them with my Blaster and another with my proto gun. I only got those two before Flare leapt into the middle of them and slashed all around him with his brandish. I jumped off the rock I was on and fought my way to the rookie who was watching with wide eyes. When I got up next to him I asked if he was ok.

“Yeah I didn’t get wounded, my armor protected me.” He reported. Flare was taking care of the remaining three. He slashed downwards and knocked one out, then he blocked a lunge with his shield and shield bashed the monster in the snout. The final one had been hanging back, now that it was left we could see it was bigger than the rest. I raised my Blaster and holstered the proto gun, putting the shield back on my arm. I walked forwards and Whispered to Flare,
“Be careful Flare, this ones the alpha.”

“Yeah I got that.” He replied. We spread out going on either side, the canine focused on Flare more. It must have seen him take out his pack. I slowly got around to its back and raised my Blaster. I squeezed off three shots at it but it absorbed the energy bolts. It rounded on me, but before it could pounce, Flare leapt onto its back. It bucked around, and threw him off before he could drive his sword into it. Flare was launched back and hit his head, he was knocked out from the impact. The Alpha advanced on me growling. I fired my pistol but it dodged the blast. It leapt towards me but in the middle of its leap something slammed into it, knocking it a couple feet to the side. I looked over and saw the young recruit drive his sword into its hide. Then all of the canines dissolved, leaving behind some coins, and some little orbs of red energy. The energy flowed into our weapons and the glowed, “That’s some courage rookie.” I said, “What’s your name?”

He looked up and replied, “Oh uh, Ted” He stammered.

“Well go get Flare I’ll get, some sort of stretcher made. Then we’ll get to the rescue camp.” I climbed up the valley and made a crude stretcher out of leaves. We navigated through the rocky valley and when we made it out we could see the rescue camp up ahead. We had made it.

Is anyone reading? Plz comment...

Hmm...

Might wanna add an extra line between paragraphs and dialogue lines, as well as brush up on a few typos when you have the time...

You also might wanna proportion your sentences with commas, semi-colons, colons, periods, etc...

As for the content, I guess it isn't the most original thing, but I always enjoy a written interpretation of a Knight's adventures...

Also, can I put in an app?

Thx!

There, that does look better! Yeah it does look a little unoriginal doesn't it? I'll change the plot line, without straying to far. I'm not staying perfectly to the missions and such, but I'm still putting in the snarbolax battle. I said before that I'm not excepting apps... but ill except a couple, they won't have a huge role tho, mostly side characters that help in missions. If i decide to make a different part, then ill include your character more. So sure! I'll except a couple, here's the format:

Name: Will
Specialty: Gunning
Gear: Military Cuirass and Sallet, Proto gun, Pulsar, Proto Shield (Gear will change over time.)
Rank: Apprentice (If Vanguard, then it'll be with the Snarbolax fight, and im only excepting 2 for that.)
Personality: Quiet, knows his place in life, doesn't complain, can be a little sarcastic.
Bio: His Blaster is the only thing linking him to his parents, as he never knew them.
Extras: Very accurate at shooting, is interested in the make of different guns.

There we go! You can put in an app if you want.

Alright...

Name : Penelope Frore

Specialty : Skirmisher (Close-Quarters)

Gear : Spiral Flak Jacket (Cool) and Spiral Crescent Helm (With plume), Proto Bomb, Brandish, Proto Shield (Changes to Ash Tail Coat, Mighty Cobalt Helm, Freezing Atomizer, Blizzbrand, and Volcanic Plate Shield)

Rank : Apprentice (Stops at Defender Elite against Roarmulous Twins)

Personality : A very bright girl with a strange knack for cutting things up, many a Knight can only wonder how she could have easily taken down an entire Wolver den single-handedly. She tends to analyze anything and everything, and though it may cause problems on occasion, her research and studying pays off as valuable intel for the Spiral Knights. Though she may be an excellent fighter and reconnaissance, she does have her doubts on the morality of fighting the enemy. Some view her as naive, which can be a fault that remains true at times. Overall, she's like a Kora-in-person, always helpful and ready to be of assistance for her friends.

Bio : Kora and Parma were the top scoring students in the Academy back at Isora. They were fast analyzers, quick thinkers, and were blessed with the gift of intuition and instinct.

Penelope, the third top-scoring student under them, was not as talented. Nevertheless, it seemed as though she would be next in line as another Recon Knight or Intel Officer...

...but no. She opted to graduate as part of the main bulk of the infantry, though her credits by far exceeded that of most other Knights. So, she was integrated into their ranks, and functioned as one of the most successful Knights in the standard infantry, rivaling the records (of course she would) of even Desna's Rangers.

But in this world...this was going to be an entirely different ball game.

Chapter 2: The Clockworks

After we made it to the rescue camp, they put Flare in the infirmary. “He’ll be all right.” The medical officer reported, “No major injuries, his helmet protected his head.”

“Oh that’s good” I replied, relieved. I went into the tent and saw he was awake,

“Oh, hey.. Ted right?” he said. “Can I get out of bed now?”

“The medic says it’s ok, so sure!” I told him.

He got out of the cot and stepped out into the camp. “Where’s Will?” He asked me.

“Will? I think he went to help repair the turret.” I answered.

“Ok I’ll go check it out.” He said and walked off. I wandered over to where some pods had been set up as makeshift homes. There were two older knights there, a boy in a surge breaker set, and a girl with a flak jacket and crescent helm. I heard them discussing something about camp.

“The only way we will be able to get to the Haven is if we get the power running here again.” The boy told the girl.

“Well what’s wrong with the power? I can go find out what's stopping it.” The girl replied.

“Squad leader Greta told me that something is interfering with the power source down underground.” The boy explained.

I then walked over to the turrets, there was a panel open and Will was fiddling with the wires that stuck out. “Hey Will, any luck?” I asked crouching down to look at what he was doing.

“Nope, this thing is working fine but, no power is getting to it.”

“Where’s Flare, he said he was going to check out what you were up to.” I asked him.

“He was here, then Greta came over and told him to follow her.” Will told me.

I walked over to where the commandant tent was and saw Greta off to the side talking with Flare. She finished up her talk, and Flare turned and headed to the exit. I followed him out and asked him, “What was that about?”

“Greta has assigned a couple of knights into a team to go find out what’s wrong with the power source.” He explained.

“Who’s on the team?”

"We aren't, there was somebody named Storm, Rhendon was included, there was also someone named Penelope. That's all."

"Then why did she take you aside if your not going?"

"I get guard duty until they get back."

"I'll help, I'm bored." We headed over to the post, and saw a spiral warden positioned near us.
After a couple minutes, we saw the team heading to the lift that would take them to the clockworks. There was Rhendon, hefting a Blitz needle, Storm, holding his shockburst brandish in one hand. Last was the girl, Penelope was it? Checking her proto bomb, making sure it was working correctly. As the lift went down, I wondered where they went.

"Hey Ted? Didn't you want some some practice with the sword?" Flare was looking at me with his Brandish on his shoulder. "I'm already bored, so what do you say?"

I grinned, and replied "Sure why not?" and drew my Proto sword.

Chapter 2-2: Haven

Will's POV

Steady, steady, aaaaaaand pew, off goes the bullet. I was practicing my aim on some targets i made, I saw the shot hit home, and switched aim to the next two targets, squeezing off another two shots. I saw both collide with the target evenly. Then, I slung my shield onto my back and drew my proto gun. I turned around so my back faced the three targets, I counted down from ten. At zero, I spun around firing at the outside targets first then twice at the center one. The second shot missed, I cursed quietly and turned around to repeat it.

At that moment, a loudspeaker blared, announcing that the power was back on and the three knights had returned safely. I decided to go down and check it out. The turrets were up and whirring, searching and identifying all movement. There was a crowd of knights around the three knights. They disappeared into the tent and the crowd dispersed. I looked around for Ted and Flare, but couldn't see them. I asked around, and learned they were guarding the entrance to the clockworks. I headed over there, and saw the two sparring. Flare disarmed Ted and swung a backhand blow. Ted deflected it with his shield, and drew his proto gun, retreating a few steps and fired a round. Flare dodged the first two and blocked the last one, lunging forward and swinging the sword in a wide sweep trying to knock Ted off his feet. Ted hopped slightly and rolled sideways, regaining his sword and slashing upwards. Flare sidestepped and kicked out, catching Ted on the shield and pushed Ted down. Flare helped Ted up and I decided to speak up, "Hello, nice to know we have some guards continuously watching our backs!" They both turned and grinned.

Ted replied "Well, we were bored." Flare nodded.

I shook my head, "It's fine I just wanted to check out whats happening."

"Ted wanted some tips so I decided to show him firsthand." Flare replied.

There was a big creak as we heard the elevator left the surface and dropped into the clockworks. Ted spun around and pointed, "What just happened?"

"I think someone is coming up!" Flare said, and ran off to tell the other knights.

I drew my Blaster and walked slowly to the lift, I heard Ted following me, and I peaked over the edge. I couldn't see anything yet it was too dark. Footsteps sounded and we turned around, A couple knights had come, Flare leading the way. There was Greta, and Rhendon. Along with the other two knights that were just on the mission to restore the power.

"what's the situation!" Greta called as they neared the area.

"Nothing yet!" I called out. They arrived and we circled around the lift, it was silent for a minute as we all waited for something to happen, then a faint whirring sound could be heard. We backed up a step and drew our weapons. The lift arrived to reveal a group of five elite knights, each looking worn out.

The lead one stepped forward, "This is the rescue camp right?"

Greta nodded, "Who are you?"

The knight replied, "We were sent to find you, the Spiral Order has set up a more permanent base then this one, at a place called Haven."

Chapter 3

Chapter 3: The Chasm

The entire rescue camp was buzzing with excitement. The arrival of the five Vanguards with word of a safer place was the best news the recruits had heard so far. Guards were posted at the command tent to keep it from crowding. I remembered when they first appeared, the lead one, in beaten Azure guardian armor, had informed us of the Haven. The others were in just as worn armor, but different styles. There was one, presumably the guardian, wearing full Plate armor, hefting a Sudaruska. There was a Volcanic Bomber, barely holding an Electron Vortex. A rare winged one, dressed in a Divine set, with a Final Flourish at her belt, wings barely visible folded flat on her back. The last one was a gunner, a Deadshot Mantle and Nameless Hat. I remembered a Polaris tucked in its holster. They were all exhausted, barely standing. The camp was still active into the night and the next morning an assembly was called.

The Azure knight stepped forward. "As you all probably know by now, the Spiral Order has set up in a town called Haven. But how we are going to get you all there is another thing. Last night I contacted the HQ and they are sending more knights to help transport the ones stationed here. In an unfortunate coincidence, the Haven is very close to here, but across a giant chasm. The way around is very long, but there is a shortcut. If we descend into the clockworks, then we will be able to make our way to the haven considerably faster. You'll be crossing in groups of four, along with another knight that knows the way to Haven. Report to Rhendon with your group and we will assign you a vanguard. You are dismissed, any questions can be asked to Greta."

The knights dispersed into twos and threes, which slowly bonded to form fours. I found Flare and Will, then started looking for another knight. We ended up pairing with the knight who helped find the power outage, Penelope. We reported to Rhendon who told us that no Vanguards were available, but the next team was arriving soon. We hung around for a minute and made introductions, Penelope was actually ranked third highest in the academy back on Isora. She was equipped with a Brandish as well as her Proto bomb. I saw Will checking the firing mechanism on his Blaster and I decided to do the same. My Proto gun was working well, my blade was also razor sharp. Rhendon called our names, and we reported in. Next to him was a knight in a full grey Owlite set. Rhendon introduced Chris, who raised a hand in greeting, I could feel his eyes examine us in turn, I swear his gaze stopped on Will a second longer then the rest of us. I shook my head, and we headed over to the lift. It rumbled and we started to descend, I looked up and my stomach lurched in fear as the square of light got smaller and smaller. When we arrived though I looked around surprised at the sudden open space.

"This doesn't look like the underground." Flare sounded what was on my mind.

Chris replied, "You haven't seen anything yet."

All of a sudden three dog-like turrets popped out of the ground, they opened their mouths and shot laser pellets at us. I deflected one and returned fire with my Proto gun. I saw my shots land on the target and I turned my gun to the others, only to see them smoking as well. I turned to see Will holding his Blaster, and Chris holding a Nova Driver. We kept on going, fighting off any robots or any other hostile monsters. We came along a long catwalk, after a pause we started along it, Chris leading and Flare bringing up the rear. Right in the middle of the catwalk two giant tree-like robots came out of nowhere on each side of us.

"These are lumbers, their slow, take advantage of that." Chris told us quickly.

After a quick fight they fell to the ground with a THUD. I heaved a sigh then we started to continue, then a sharp CRACK was heard. I looked ahead of us, a large crack cut through near the lumbers. There was silence, then the entire bridge fell and with it we plunged into the clockworks.

Chapter 4: The scarlet Fortress

I opened my eyes, blinking in the bright light. There were drapes along the wall, and lamps placed periodically along the hall we were in. Everyone was here, Chris was checking his weapons and didn't notice me. Ted wasn't up yet, Penelope and Will were guarding opposite ends of the corridor.

Chris looked up, "Well, another one awakes. How are you feeling?"

He helped me up, "I'm OK, what happened?"

"Well, the bridge that collapsed with us on it landed in a deep part of the Clockworks, we've landed in a place called 'The Scarlet Fortress.' I've already requested evac and they're sending a team down. If your wondering we haven't dragged you guys that far, the broken bridge is behind you."

I turned around and saw a broken down wall, with the bridge laying lopsidedly through it. My eyes widened and I took a step back. I turned back to Chris and asked, "Well then how long will it take the Spiral Order to get here?"

Chris thought for a minute, "Probably a couple days, we still don't know much about this world. Give them some time."

I nodded and looked around, "So I guess we just wait it out?"

Chris looked at some sort of scanner, "Well, there are some hostiles moving this way. I'd get ready if I were you."

As if on cue, Will turned and called out "Monsters coming in this way!"

I readied myself mentally, then looked around for my Brandish, and found it in my scabbard. I drew it and shrugged my shield onto my arm. I walked over to the others, who were charging their weapons. I started charging my sword as well, it glowed faintly. I looked up and saw the enemy, a group of Cat-like ghosts, and jelly cubes were making their way towards us.

"GO!" I heard Chris order, and I let loose a charge at the same time as everyone else. The combination of charge attacks slammed into the mass of enemies. They faltered, then kept going, a ghost-cat flew at me jaws open to strike. I side-stepped and slashed at the monster. It dissolved, and I turned around engaging a jelly cube. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Will covering Penelope and Chris, as they hacked away at the other monsters. I turned my attention to the slime, it spun quickly trying to hit me. I stepped back and stabbed it, the blade sunk into the jelly. It paused for a moment, then spun, jerking the sword from my trip. I fell backwards, and drew my proto-sword. I advanced then saw the jelly blow up, I looked around, and saw Chris give me a thumbs up, then returned his focus on the rest. I sheathed my proto weapon, and grabbed my blade off the ground. I looked up and went to work. Slashing, and dodging, and deflecting. Within a few minutes we had reduced the mob into nothing. "That went well" Chris concluded.

"Yeah, but we can't go forever." Will pointed out.

"You know those Kats were kind of cute," Penelope pointed out.

I figured she was talking about the cat-ghosts, so I replied, "Not when they opened their mouths, they looked weird then."

She nodded, then pointed. "Looks like he's waking up."

We turned and saw Ted sitting up, looking around. I ran over "Good Morning!"

He looked at me, "How do you know its morning?"

"I don't," I helped him up. I gave him a quick summary of what happened and he seemed to absorb it well.

"Why don't we try to get to the surface?" He asked.

Chris answered that, "Well if we start moving, we might miss the rescue team and then its two groups that are lost."

He nodded then said, "Got any food to eat?

Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Haven

Since Ted had woken up, it had been easier to defend our position with the addition of another knight. I dove sideways to avoid the lunge of a Kat, then unloaded a round into its back. I turned my Blaster onto a jelly, and fired a round at it. The jelly absorbed the blasts, then charged at me. I drew my proto-gun and alternated fire from it and my Blaster. The shots slammed into the jelly and it dissolved, I turned to see the others finishing up the rest.

"Well, another one down and gone huh?" Flare said, wiping his forehead.

Ted nodded, "Yeah I wonder when the rescue team will be here. It's been a couple days hasn't it?"

"They'll be here, we just have to hold out." Chris replied.

I looked and saw something coming down the corridor. "Hey guys, we have a group incoming."

Penelope asked, "Who is it, the rescue team?"

I shook my head, "I don't know they're too far away." I squinted and could make out a squad of figures holding swords. "I can see knights!"

I heard Ted give out a sigh of relief, then gasp. "Those aren't Spiral Knights!" He pointed.

The knights, who had gotten closer, were actually Mecha-Knights. "What are they doing here?" I asked.

"They must be on a patrol, I heard they do that sometimes." Chris answered. "No matter, everyone ready!"

We drew our weapons, the constructs had seen us and were charging our position, swords at the ready. I raised my pulsar, and fired a bolt at the lead knight. The blast sailed through the air before colliding with the Mech-knights shield. It had raised it to deflect the shot, but the shot knocked it back a couple steps. I fired another round at it before it lowered its shield. It couldn't see when blocking, so when it lowered its shield it saw the three bolts heading for its head. The robot fell to its knees, its head gone, and tumbled forward. The rest looked at it, then charged. I retreated behind my teammates, providing supporting fire. In a minute or two the squad had been reduced to bolts and scrap metal. Except for one. Flare was facing off against it, he struck left and right. The construct parried and stabbed forward. Flare spun slightly so the blade whistled past him, he kicked the Mecha-Knight in the face and it stumbled backwards. It surveyed its opponent, then pressed a button on its wrist. Then Flare sliced its legs and it fell backwards, it looked up to see Flare drive his Brandish into its neck.

"Well that was fun." He looked at us. "Now what?"

Chris noted something, "Well the Construct pressed a button on its wrist, chances are he just called for backup."

Everyone nodded, and looked around. Then, the ground on each end of the hall unfolded. Revealing about ten gunpuppies on each end. On one accord, they opened their mouths and fired a volley of bullets at us.

"Shields up!" Chris called. We raised our shields then the ones with guns fired back at one row of turrets. Three crumbled to pieces, The rest kept firing. "Flare, Penelope! Get to close range! We'll cover you!" He raised his Nova Driver, and fired a charge shot at one. The shots collided, destroying it and two next it because of its ricochet. That left four on one side and ten on the other. Flare and Penelope started making their way to the ten on one side of us. Ted and I distracted the turrets by firing at them. Behind us, Chris finished off the four remaining with his Nova Driver. He then turned and helped us with the other ten. Flare and Penelope had flanked the turrets and were cutting them down from behind. They finished off the last one when we heard someone call out.

"Ho! Spiral Order?"

We turned, and saw a squad of knights making their way towards us. Chris raised a hand in reply, and we all ran to the rescue squad.

We met up with them, and Ted asked. "So we go up now? Which way is it?"

The knight shook his head, "We won't have to travel back up the long way."

Chris's eyes widened, "They got the home seeker online?"

The knight nodded and handed us a small device, "Here, put this under your shield. That's the safest place on your armor." We all complied. "Now we radio Spiral HQ, and get us out of here." He activated his comlink. "HQ? We found them, bring us home."

Nothing happened for a few seconds, then everything went black, and we were in front of a town that was full of Spiral Knights. "Woah" Ted gasped,

Chris turned to us and said, "Well recruits, welcome to our new home."

I made a teensy edit

I decided that I would change Will's main gun from a Pulsar to a Blaster, mostly because I recently found out that the Pulsar is a gremlin gun and there would be no way for Will to have the pistol before landing on cradle

Chapter 6

Chapter 6: Training

"And that's what a Retrode is." The bored looking instructor finished. We were learning about the different hostile inhabitants of cradle. I was paying attention as much as possible, but it was kind of boring. I looked left and saw Scope taking notes, and in front of me Flare was sketching a rough diagram of each monster. I went over the board again, absorbing the info about the Gremlin, Constuct, Beast, Slime, Undead, and Fiend family.

"All right, I'm done here, your all dismissed" The instructor said, and everyone stood up and left in groups as they chatted about random topics. I walked over to Flare.

"Hey, whatcha drawing?" I asked him,

"Oh, the enemies we are going to face, I'm ttrying to find a weak spot on them." He gestured, and I could see X's on specific points of the monster. "Hey what do you say to some sparring? I need to stretch my legs."

"Sure I need to as well." I turned to see Will still sitting in his chair, jotting down some more notes. "Hey Will, we are going to go train a bit, you want to come?"

He looked up, "Sure, just a sec, I need to write down a couple more things, I'll meet up with you guys there."

I looked back at Flare, "To the Training Hall?"

He nodded, "To the Training Hall."

We exited the Lab, and headed across the town square. I looked around, there were those little birds... snipes, floating around and landing on Strangers for a perch. Knights were at the Auction house, bidding on assorted gear. We arrived at the Training Hall,

"Let's get started why don't we?" Flare said, and took out his Brandish. I drew my Proto-Sword, and we walked over to the designated area. I raised my shield, and Flare attacked, going for a downward chop, hoping I would raise my shield and block my eyesight, I swung my sword and parried the blow. Countering with a stab. He sidestepped and swung an upwards swing. I leapt back, and drew my blaster. I fired a round at him, he deflected the shots with his Proto-Shield. I holstered the gun, and drew my sword. Flare put his shield on his back, and drew his Proto Sword. He came at me, swinging both swords horizontally. I halted the swing with my shield, I was pushed off balance by the force of the blow. Trying to regain balance, I failed to see the flat of the blade head for my helmet. The next thing I knew, I was on the ground.

"You'll get him next time," A voice said. I turned and saw Will sitting on a bench. "If you guys are done swinging sticks, then we've got ourselves a mission to do."

Chapter 7

Chapter 7: The Battle Sprites

We walked over to the Arcade, where Lt. Feron was stationed. Will lead the way, and reported to Feron.

"This is the team sir, I think we will do well." Will told Feron.

Feron looked us over. "Ok then, you will receive your mission details from Morlin, the lead Biotech. He is located at the Lab."

"Yes sir!" We said, then headed towards the Labratory. When we got there we found Morlin jotting some notes. I decided to speak up, "Morlin sir, we are here for a mission?"

He looked up, "Oh! Yes, yes I have a task for you. I'm sure you know what battle sprites are?" We nodded. "Yes I thought so, it seems we've lost a cache of them when the Skylark crashed. We have located one concentration of battle sprite cages in the clockworks, and you are going to the exact position so the rescue squad can get there easier." He looked at us like he was finished talking.

Ted spoke up, "Umm how are we supposed to get to the depth?"

He suddenly seemed to remember that, "Oh yes, I forgot about that, here these should help you." He gave us each a memory chip which we downloaded the contents of into our helmets. A small map popped up in the corner of our HUD, with info on which gate and depth to go to. "Now off you go! We got to find us those battle sprites!" He ushered us out the lab, then went back to note taking.

I looked at Will, "So, to the Arcade again?"

He nodded, and we made our way to the Arcade. We found the correct gate, and selected the depth. We got in and it shuddered, then slowly descended into the mechanized world below the surface.

The elevator ground to a halt as we arrived at our depth. I drew my Brandish, steel scraping against leather made a Shhhhhiiiiingg!!!! I held it in front of me, feeling its familiar weight and balance. Checking my map, I faced the correct direction, and started forward. We walked in silence for a few seconds. Then some fiery lizards appeared, literally they became visible right in front of us. One regurgitated a fiery blob at me. I leapt back, the blob landed on the ground and sizzled slowly. I cringed, then charged the Lizard. It flung its tongue at me, I blocked it and the tongue latched onto my shield. It pulled, and I fell forward. The shield flew at the Lizard, smashing into its face, knocking it unconscience. I took the opportunity to run forward and pry my shield from its grasp. I stabbed the lizard, and turned to see another tongue flying at me. A blast collided with it and the tongue retracted immediately. I saluted Will, then charged the lizard, dodging a blob and slashing it. We continued, and eventually we heard our helmets beeping as we came close to the battle sprite cages. It was behind some bushes.

"Let's go get those battle sprites!" Ted called out, then jumped through said bushes.

We followed him through to find him looking at some... Dragons?

Chapter 8

Chapter 8: Drakons

The Dragon Sprites floated around, exploring their territory.

Ted was petting one, "These are definitely Battle Sprites. They certainly aren't hostile."

"Do you think they can do different things then just recon?" Flare asked as he approached one.

I shook my head, this was really strange. The Battle Sprites had mutated in the clockworks! I activated the homing beacon on my helmet, signaling the rescue squad that we had found the Sprites. I watched Flare try and pet one, the Dragon didn't look very friendly, and stayed away from Flare. Flare kept trying to pet it, then it opened its mouth and spat a ball of fire at the surprised knight.

"Woah!" Flare ducked to avoid the missile.

Ted was watching with wide eyes, he turned to the one next to him, "Fireball!" the Sprite turned and spat a Fireball at a tree. "Ok, they can shoot fire. They did gain a special power."

Just then, a Mecha-Knight squad appeared. Flare drew his sword, so did Ted. I raised my Blaster, then Flare charged and decapitated one of the knights. The other constructs looked in surprise, then advanced on him. He parried a strike with his Brandish, and deflected a slash off his shield. He was about to be overwhelmed when the Sprite who tried to shoot a fireball at him launched two fireballs which boosted Flare's speed, allowing him to roll out of the way. Flare looked in surprise, the fireballs were orbiting around him. He Advanced on the Mecha-Knights, who retreated from the orbiting flames. I raised my blaster and squeezed off a shot at the sword arm of one. The blast hit home, and the Mecha-Knight was unarmed, and ran away. I was about to fire at it again, when Ted pointed a finger, and a fireball flew at the retreating Mecha-Knight. It took out the last one, and we relaxed, both awed and surprised at the Dragon-like Sprites. Flare was petting his new friend.

"Looks like we got a stroke of luck on this planet huh?" I asked them. They nodded, and we decided to get ready to move. Each of us hooked a Battle-Sprite cage onto our backs. We waited for the rescue-squad to come. When they did, they were more surprised then we were about the Mutated Battle Sprites. We made our way back to the Lab, and Morlin looked very excited about this.

"What a phenomenon!" He exclaimed examining one. He turned to us, "I have to reward you for this discovery!" He looked at our armor. "You are still in Proto-Gear? I'm authorizing a full upgrade in weapons, and Armor!"

That's when we found ourselves in the Hall of Heroes. I looked at Ted and Flare, "What are you going to pick?" They shrugged, and started browsing weapons from the vendors stationed around the Hall. I looked around, Daxen had some nice looking gunner armor, but it was 3 star armor. Browsed around some more, and settled on a Magic cloak and Hood. I selected a Shadowtech Alchemer from Daxen, and decided to stay with the standard Defender. I met up with Flare and Ted back at the Entrance, Ted had the Standard Cobalt gear, but with an Owlite shield attached to his arm. Flare was decked out in full Wolver Armor, with a Defender strapped to his arm just like I had.

"That was nice of Morlin to approve 2 star equipment for us." Ted said.

"Yeah, this Wolver armor feels a lot more protective then my old Proto Gear." Flare agreed.

I nodded, "So, what do you say we go test out this gear?"

Flare looked at me with a grin, "Oh, it would be my pleasure."

Chapter 9

Chapter 9: Snarbolax

I ducked a sword swing from a Mecha-Knight, then slashed its chest open. The construct fell to its knees before crumbling apart. I turned to see a blast of energy coming at my face. I sidestepped, looking for what had fired it, my eyes locked on to the gun puppy who fired it. I sheathed my blade and drew my new blaster, I fired 3 shots then ran to the side to avoid more projectiles. I saw two of my shots land on the turret, so I charged in while it was stunned. I jumped forward, driving my Calibur into the Constructs head. It sparked, and I turned and looked for another target. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw another rocket puppy rise out from a panel in the ground. I turned towards it, and charged with my Calibur ready to swing. Then the turrets jaw unhinged, and a rocket launched itself towards me. HOLY- I rolled to avoid the missile, I turned and saw it start to make its way around, it must be a homing missile. I waited for it to lock on to me again, then ducked and watched it collide with its owner. I misjudged the size of the explosion, and I got blasted onto the ground. Owww...

"Hey, you ok?" I looked up and saw Will reaching for my hand. I took it and heaved myself up.

"Yeah, just caught me off guard." I scratched my head. "I haven't seen that kind of Rocket puppy before, at least, not one that fires rockets."

Will shrugged, "Well I think we're wrapped up here aren't we Flare?"

Flare was sitting on a fallen over Lumber. He waved, "Yeah I think we cleared up this place, let's head back to Haven."

* * *
At Haven, there were knights milling around everywhere. After I recovered, which didn't take long, we headed over to the mission list in the Arcade. There was a big notice on one side of the board. It read: We need a couple squads of knights to help in a dangerous mission, any of those who are willing to help, please sign up here! There was a small list of names below.

"Should we sign up?" Will asked,

Flare looked curious, "Sure, why not?"

We signed our names on the board and went about doing random things. Then, later that day, we got a message. I opened it up and it read: You are listed as one of the participants in the new mission, please report to the Arcade. I made my way through the busy streets of haven, and into the Arcade. I met up with Will and Flare, who were waiting in front of the Mission board. Will raised a hand, and I walked over to them. After a couple of minutes, a knight came and told us to follow him. We came to a room with a table, and there was Feron. When we came in, there were other knights sitting down. I took a chair, and Flare and Will did the same. After the last few knights trickled in, Feron began. "You all have come here to receive a dangerous, and potentially deadly, mission. First of all, I have to thank you for that. The Moorcraft Manor is a peaceful checkpoint where we would like to set up a base camp there. Now to get there, we have to travel through the Gloaming Wildwoods. No problem right? It's just that there is a foul beast that inhabits these very woods. To the strangers, it is known as the Snarbolax, the king of all the Wolvers. You have all fought Wolvers before, but this one is different when it comes to combat. The Snarbolax is encased in a shadowy layer of skin. It is invulnerable unless stunned, lucky for us, one of the races here before us has placed bells that can create a high frequency sound that will stun the beast. As well as any other wolver. We have also received info that a recon module left behind by the Alpha Squad is located somewheredeep in the Wildwoods."

That raised eyebrows, the Alpha Squad was the best of the best. They were sent into the Clockworks to study it and find the large source of energy that we detected on cradle. When they had gotten deeper into the Clockworks, they disappeared.

Feron continued, "We have been able to extract some footage remotely from the module." He took out a remote and pointed to a video screen. the screen flickered to life, and a view from one of the Alpha squad members was being projected. It was the leader, Euclid. They were making their way through the Wildwoods. they came to a clearing with a bell in the middle. The scout, Parma, ran forward. and inspected the bell. She waved and the rest of the squad ran forwards. They surveyed the area and started to continue onwards. Then a gate erupted into the squads path, they immediately spun around, weapons in hand. A shadowy beast leapt out of the ground and flung five spikes at them. The squad avoided them, and spread out, trying to figure out its weakness. They fired at it, but the shots just got absorbed. The leader ran forward, and after trying to swing his sword into the beast, tried the bell. A note could be heard, and the Snarbolax roared, turning a different color. It was then attacked by the squad, bullets collided with the beast. After a couple seconds the beast turned back to shadow form and sunk into the ground, the shadow slipping out of the clearing. The squad regrouped and continued.

@Feline-Grenadier

Ted is there, I switch views between Flare, Will, and Ted. In the Drakon mission, Ted was the first one to encounter the sprites. In my most recent chapter, it was from Ted's perspective, so there wasn't much referring to him. Penelope is a side character, although she is probably be one of those few knights in the conference room listening about Snarby. And what others? Might I ask...

Chapter 10

Chapter 10: The Wildwoods

I did a quick overview of our team as the eight of us arrived at the elevators. There was me, with my Wolver armor, Brandish and Calibur. Ted was in standard Cobalt armor, equipped with his Calibur and Blaster. Will had his defender on his back, with a Shadowtech Alchemer and Blaster in either hand. The others, composed of Penelope, our leader Thorn, and the medic Storm. There was also a Guardian in Boosted Plate armor and Shield, Hefting a Kamarin. There was a recon named Shade who held a Silent Nightblade in her hand, and a Swiftstrike buckler strapped on her arm. We would go down in groups of four, seeing as the lift would only take four at a time. Group one would be Will, Thorn, Shade, and Ted. As the lift descended, I looked around at the others. I noticed Penelope had upgraded gear, a Mighty Cobalt helm, one of the upgraded versions of his wolver coat, I think its the Ashtail. I could see a Blizzbrand sheathed in her scabbard, and she was holding a Freezing Atomizer in one hand, a Boosted plate shield in the other.

Feeling anxious, I asked the guardian his name.

"It's Drew, your Flare right?" He replied, settling his massive sword onto his shoulder.

I nodded then addressed the others, "Any of you been to the Wildwoods yet?"

Penelope nodded, "I was one of the ones sent to find the quickest path through. Probably why I'm here now."

The medic spoke up, "Not yet, though I've heard that although it is filled with wolvers and like, there are constructs that inhabit the forests. Chances are the Gremlins put them there to keep tabs on the Snarbolax."

I looked at him, Storm was his name. He had a Surge breaker suit, holding a Volt driver in his hand. An Electron bomb in the other, with a Brute Jelly Shield? That's its name- on his back.

I replied to his knowledge, "Ok then, Info noted and stored."

The lift arrived and we got on it, allowing it to take us down into the darkness of the clockworks. On arrival, we saw the others waiting for us by a weird looking bell on the ground. Hmm, why would a bell be in the woods? To signal others? Then I remembered the Snarbolax's weakness. Thorn nodded at us, seeing we were all here.

"All right everyone, ready your weapons, and stay together!"

I nodded and drew my Brandish, holding it in my hand. We started into the dark woods, ready for anything.

Strangely there was none.

As we advanced through the woods, not much of anything showed its face. Maybe it is night time for them? I shook my head to clear the thoughts circling my head. On my left the recon held up a hand, listening for something. Thorn signaled us to stop moving. Silence all around us. A slight rustling could be heard somewhere. I just couldn't figure out where. Ted was shaking slightly, holding out his Calibur. I saw Drew next to him, and decided that Ted would be safe with the guardian. We kept on going until something large rustled slightly to the right of Thorn, We all stopped as one, and Thorn surveyed the area. A singular bell could be seen near the center of a clearing up ahead.

"Hold at the bell!" Thorn pointed with his Final Flourish.

I ran forwards, reaching the bell and looked over it. Hm, not much of a bell. I heard the others gather around the bell, our sole chance of survival... sort of. A low growl was heard, rumbling throughout the woods. I readied my Sword, preparing for what might come. Then almost as if it knew we were waiting, the great beast of the woods erupted from the ground right in front of me, and let out an ear piercing roar.

* * *

When the beast appeared, the first thing I did was shoot at it. Not thinking, I fired a shot right at it, the bullet flew across the clearing and just dissipated upon impacting the hide of the Snarbolax. It looked mildly annoyed at the impact, and growled. Without warning it spun, hurling a dozen thorn-like projectiles at us. The knights in our team all ducked and blocked as the thorns impacted our defenses. I heard someone swear near me, and I turned to see Storm pull a thorn out of his shoulder. Thorn ran over to the injured medic, and made sure he was ok.

"Drew get over here! Protect Storm while he's injured!"

"Yeah, I'll be fine when he gets close, I'll ring the bell." Storm raised his uninjured hand in a thumbs up. "Watch the beast!"

We turned and saw that it had advanced, seeing we were distracted. It lashed out biting down on anything it could reach. Flar edove out of the way, and Penelope ran to the side, signaling at Storm. He swung his gun against the bell, and it let out a high note that echoed throughout the woods. The Snarbolax shrieked and turned a weird shade of orange. I let loose a couple rounds at the stunned beast, while the Flare, Penelope, and Thorn, ran in and hacked at its hide. It roared in pain, and melted into shadow again. It glared at us murderously, then dove into the ground. I looked around cautiously, trying to see a sign of the beast. It appeared to my right, and flung more spikes at us. I deflected one, and saw Storm flinch as one that was headed for him was deflected by Drew's shield. It feinted forward, but Storm saw the move, and hesitated. It snarled menacingly, and launched another round of spikes. Seeing that all of its attacks were failing, the Snarbolax retreated into a corner. It growled deeply at us as it tried to figure out a way to beat its new foes. I charged up a blaster bullet, and let it loose towards the Snarbolax. The bullet collided with the beast and exploded. The beast looked offended, and charged forward. It seemed to forget about its weakness, and was beaten down another notch. The Snarbolax growled deeply, and bared its fangs. Then dug into the ground again. A minute passed, then another. Everyone started to look up, maybe we had beaten it. maybe it had gone into a hole to die. Then things started to go badly.

* * *

I looked around fearful of where the beast would pop up. Then things went to hell. There was a rumble between all of us. We turned towards the bell. Thorn seemed to realize what was going to happen.

"Get away!" We all scattered from the bell as it was launched into the air as the Snarbolax tore it from the ground. The Beast had a triumphant gleam in its eyes as it regarded us all one at a time. Its eyes seemed o bore into mine. It took a step back, then charged at me. I panicked, forgetting what to do, I just stood there. Then something hit me from the side, I flew a couple feet, and hit the ground hard. I looked up at Drew.

"Get up!" I heard someone yell. Scrambling to my feet, Drew beside me, I faced the Snarbolax's rush. Raising my Owlite Shield, I felt an enormous impact against it. My feet slid back a little, but I stood firm. It pushed against us, but we wouldn't budge. Behind the Snarbolax, I could see Flare pick up a small piece of metal. It was the bell! I stood firm, and the Snarbolax reared backwards. Firing a few spikes at us. I ducked as two flew over my head, missing me by inches. Another slammed into my raised shield. I heard a cry of pain and turned to see Drew stagger, a Spike in his leg. Dropping my small shield, I knelt by him. Conscious of the fact that the Snarbolax was advancing.

"Take my shield, its coming!" Drew muttered, pain in his eyes. I lifted the giant shield, and placed myself in between him and the Snarbolax. Grounding the shield, I braced myself as the beast threw itself against me. The impact was like a Lumber had fallen on me. Knowing that not only my life hung in the balance at the moment, I held my ground. Opening my eyes, I could sort of see the others, grouping behind the beast. Flare was holding up the remnants of the bell. He placed it on the ground and swung his sword downwards at the broken piece of metal.

The note was echoing around the woods once more. I felt the weight lift off of me as the Snarbolax reared in pain. I didn't loosen my grip on the shield, thinking that it would strike again. I heard another screech, that went on until it got softer... and softer. Slowly, I peeked around the edge of the shield. The murderous beast lay, dead, on its side. Heaving a sigh of relief, I slowly stood up. The monster dissolved slowly, leaving behind a pile of those thorns. Flare gathered them up.

Thorn looked at him. "What are you going to do with those?"

He shrugged, "I dunno, might be useful for the Biotechs."

Exhaustion then overtook me and everything went black.
