Trust me I have been through it before. My thread was literally off topic for 4 or something pages of utter rubbish, by me and some members of EOS. It's no big deal if someone is spitting trash. It's dirtying their own mouth. Move on. The more attention you give someone seeking it the more you lose.
Issue that i think should be addressed >.<
For the record, the number 8 looks like a pair of testes, so that number should be removed because it looks bad and kids can see it the wrong way. Unless you're going to just start nitpicking at random numbers, this doesn't make sense. Clearly you're not very smart if this is the mindset you're going with at least. Kids are gonna play the game, I understand that, but by your logic, anything can be interpreted the wrong way if that's what you intend to look for.
You're also kind of deluded if you think we take "every opportunity to try and provoke you". Of course, I guess posting "<69" everywhere may as well be throwing rocks at you too. Unintentionally done to piss anyone off, but I guess now I have a new reason to!
also, you might see <69 as an offensive colloquialism, but can you see why we love the taste of 69 toast crunch
The issue with "<69" largely occurs because of the connotations associated with the symbol. It is those connotations that make it a little more serious than just a silly parody of "<3." There might not be anything wrong with the denotation of "<69," but the connotations contain mature themes, which do not be exhibited and distributed on this forum as often as they currently are.
Please. Don't act clever here.
I hope I don't get banned for this. But this is the reason why people are upset about the continued use of the numbers 69. Obviously if this is an offence 000s I apologise. But surely if people are using these numbers and know it's meaning can be used as such surely you should do something about it.
Use the link and type in 69.
http://onlineslangdictionary.com/
Just use some other numbers 25 or something. Oh but no. Those two numbers won't wet your appetite as much as 69 does. Oh silly little boys and their wild imaginations.
i dunno, i think i'm actually quite clever, i don't have to act the part to be it
25 looks like two people humping, can't use it based on your own interpretation of internet rules oh nooooooooooooo
There you go, you know the reason why people are offended by 69. I always provide proof. Hence the link in my post. Would you care to provide a link to suggest otherwise?
I'll just forward this thread onto 000s. I don't want stitches again over laughing at some of the 'intelligent' responses from some people. I'll let 000s decide on an appropriate action.
inb4 Arcknightdelta gets banned by reporting himself to OOO for posting a link to a website describing a lewd sexual act (post #56)
Much anger. So Internet. Many <69
(I made sure to note the post # so OOO can easily find the original version of your post if they need to. No need to hide the link now, we all saw it already)
What inappropriate link? It's a link to onlineslangdictionary.com
#dealwithit
You've never been one to edit your posts after the fact to appear more self righteo....oh wait.
#dealtwith
Quick to point out someone else but slow to see what you have done.
Before you go off and say you didn't do anything, Rating, it's more that you are overlooking one of your own.
People taking offense from a number, not to mention because of the meaning -they- atrribute to it...
What a time to be alive <69
I have no idea what you're talking about? The original link I sent to 000s. Maybe you read the comment wrong?
You have been know to misinterpret others comments. But you always seem apologetic afterwards. So I can't blame you.
Arch Knight. You are, of course, aware that the community managers see what goes on, and are more than aware of EoS (and others, let's not point at a single group) use of <69, which has been used on these forums since long before you signed up and started complaining about it. If there is an issue about it, OOO will address it, and I can assure you, EoS will respect their wishes.
Until that time, however, blathering on about whether the use of two numbers that may have a sexual connotation (you pervert, you) is appropriate for somewhere 13 and up will be a moot point, seeing as the true definition of it has been provided, and it is NOT sexual or inappropriate. Now, not that I advocate schoolyard sex ed, but as a parent myself, my young children have come home knowing full well what these things mean. My son actually showed me a player name in this game that had a meaning that I was unaware of, something about schoolyard slang for coitus with teddy bears, or something of the like. Needless to say, I was shocked.
All this to say, the battle over 69 really isn't a big one. Why not go report all the players with drug references in their names too? All this to say, pick your battles some are winnable, some aren't. This one? Not a fight I'd particularly care about, want, or need.
With the exception of your choice of topic, you seem like an intelligent individual: you are perfectly capable of expressing your opinion in a thoughtful, concise manner that avoids being inflammatory, and yet you've chosen this forum to do exactly that. Be a productive member here, and if you have issues, voice them using proper channels.
Yours in cartoon violence and nudity,
Perro <69
I must have missed where the true definition was given. If you could direct me to where it is located, it would be much appreciated, thanks! :D
Nah you see Hollows/Arc/.. , this would be a legitimate complaint if:
the people you are trying to defend actually complained about it.
I don't see any of the young and vulnerable preteens you talk about here.
They have no issue with it, you guys do.
Meanwhile I run into at least two or three people weekly that tells others to commit suicide.
But no, <69 is a bigger issue that is harming minors. That is what we must focus on.
Happy to
paweu provided it here: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/96702#comment-868097
but i'll save you the click, it's simple enough. 9-6=3 so <3 is <69. I use that when giving internet love to people, because i find it amusing.
edit:
Whimsi raises another great point. EoS, and other large guilds like that, generally provide a relatively safe haven from the hatred and bigotry (for lack of a better term) that the internet harbors. By virtue of having organization and relatively mature and responsible officer teams (when the need calls for it) these issues get handled, and ideally most bullying doesn't happen.
Once again, I'll hearken back to my point of picking and choosing your battles. AKD, I'll stand up and fight by your side if you want to ban the word gay from lockdown, or other hate words that don't get filtered. Anything that HURTS or BELITTLES another person, I will right there with you. Something like this? It hurts no one.
One last note. 69 is the symbol for Pisces in astrological sign. only rotated 45 degrees. depends on your view.
What you typically come across in a certain citadel that is pretty firestormy are mobs that are called "slags". Now I understand what slag is scientifically but in the land of the Brit, (God save the queen.) slags are ladies of the night. Does this mean I should file a complaint? Hint: No. Or just not make anything of it because I'm mature enough not to make a thread about it?
Have you watched many animated movies recently that are typically aimed at children? There are numerous jokes that completely go over the younger audience's heads as they're directed at the more mature viewers. If you're old enough to understand a joke / be curious enough to find out what it means, then I can't help but feel you should be old enough to act maturely about it.
Many "youths" wouldn't know what it means, you've just gone and raised it to be bigger than it is. If anything you've "forced" the idea of it down the throats of them by making this thread. Good day to you sirs and madams <69
heh... hehehehehe... today I learned. I will never run FSC the same way again.
Here's the response I got from Hyperion about my mail:
Greetings,
Thank you for your feedback! If you have suggestions as to any mechanical
changes to how player-generated forum and or game content (this includes chat)
is handled, the best place to make them is on the Suggestions section of the
forums, where they can be discussed and refined and will be read by our
developers. Thank you!
Best wishes,
- Hyperion
@Ret: By that logic, why aren't you protesting the other things OOO has banned?
Per the forum guidelines, if you think someone's breaking the rules, please report it through proper channels rather than making a post about it on the forums. Thanks!
Maybe it's just ya'll's personalities. They seem to all have the same attitude when it comes to me. I'd say EoS was full of alts, but I know better.
