Suggestions for the Spiral Knights Anniversary, and inevitable Caketastrophe.
~This thread is a place to put your best ideas related to this event (and birthday wishes!)~

Revamps, Throwbacks, and being Born Anew! That's what birthdays are about.

Aesthetics:

Furniture:

Wandering Creepy Cake. This little guy is creepy, and a cake, but he's no Creep Cake. Biscotti used just the right amount of dark matter this time - we have life, but it's not murderous life. Varieties: "Lazy" (with the little "zzzzs") and "Watchful" (This one just sits there staring and glorping).

Scaled Models of the Skylark - 1x1 and 3x3. How many years have we been on Cradle now? Let's not forget what brought us here. 1x1 is less detailed, a floating rotating blueprint. 3x3 - full detail, solid, working LED lights on it, etc. Splendid.

Scaled models of the Skylark engine, same manner. This engine can normally be seen in the Lab, located in the Garrison in Haven.

Giant 3x3 layered cake with x-candles for the year the anniversary represents. This cake is intangible. Something about the dark matter used to make it. But this lets us role play this sort of thing. Don't eat too much cake, gross.

Various small/large cupcakes. Do these have eyes? I'm not sure anymore...

Various new default furniture for purchase from the Birdsong Emporium:

It's our birthday, let's redecorate the place. Revamp!
Round Table
Potted shrubs.
Trees.

BALLOONS. These are attached to strings, and are able to float forever! (Knights use gravity nullifiers for balloons, not precious helium). Some of them even look like monsters and snipes!

Environment: mimics the Treasure Vault environment. Confetti everywhere!

Accessories:
Okay, we all know that the party stuff has "been around." Be nice.

Biscotti did some experimentation with her sprinkle recipes. She's produced:
Luminite, Crimsonite, Moonstone, Dark Matter, and Valestone variants of the sprinkle aura. More rarely, no color shows up at all, in the Vanilla Sprinkle aura. Even more rarely, the sprinkles catch the light...or don't catch any light at all. These would be colored solid but animate just like the sprinkle aura. Yellow, Red, Blue, Purple, Green, White, Prismatic, and Shadow respectively.
Personally I'd love a solid yellow sprinkle. I shall pretend it's me lucky leprechaun gold. Hey, my body vacuums crowns into it. This aura makes sense.
Standard Sprinkle still available of course.

Party Pooper: not everyone loves to party. These blowouts don't animate. Come in all standard styles and shadow.
(Don't misunderstand me, I LOVE party blowouts. I pretend they're chromalisk tongues).

Clown Nose. I don't like clowns. But some parties have them. Comes in all standard styles and Shadow.

Balloons - these attach to the helmet back, but appear to float to the left a bit (so they don't get in the way of our Battle Sprites), with the string fusing with the shoulder area. Come in all standard styles and shadow, as well as mewkat/lovepuppy/chromalisk/creepcake. These float with the wind a bit, trail behind a knight as they move, and...deflate onto the ground if the knight is AFK with zzzS.

A Return of the Gourmet Prize Box. These might be modified to contain wandering/lazy/watchful creepy cakes, and other new accessories, similar to how the Moocroft Prize Box possible prizes changed with the return of the event (no Bellhop? Bellhop!).
More varieties of the Battle Chef - Yellow, Pink, and Green please. And purple. MOAR PERPLE PLERSE.

Life of the Party: This obnoxious, large crown accessory rests atop your head. It has several candles poking out of it, and a cherry on top of icing on top of cake on top of yet more cake. Alternatively, this could easily be a costume helm. It sheds icing around, similar to the Impostoclause Hat.

Phoenix Crest: This centered crest hangs on a chain, and has a small, more noble-looking red firey snipe on it. It's a BIRTHday. Be reborn!

Confetti: Mega Confetti. This releases a large bundle of balloons that float up into the sky, as well as a larger amount of sprinkles.

More firework confetti/usable things please yes moar celebrate yes. Return of all the kinds of fireworks available from the Colossal promotion.

Gameplay:

A Spiral reminder that we are knights. Every day that you log on to Spiral Knights during the anniversary celebration, you will receive one Spark of Life in the mail. It's a BIRTHday. Be reborn! Party hard, but remain vigilant. See Companion Prize Box for something similar. These would be bound.

Weapons:

Ah well, I kept this too late probably. But we could easily see these in the years to come.

Winterfest last year (2013) saw some recolors for veteran/skilled players, obtainable by playing a mission called Grinchlin Assault. Let's see that for this repeat event sometime in the future. Instead of being aesthetic clones, we could have some different dmg. dealing weapons:

5* bomb: piercing/poison.
Cake bomb that sends thick icing flying - similar to the dark briar barrage, but spewing sprinkles and gloppy icing around in a radius instead of shadow barbs. Deals reduced normal/piercing damage. The sprinkles deal the pierce...and the glop seems to be...unhealthy. It coats the sharp sprinkles with poison as they fly outwards from the detonation. Food poisoning? Really, Biscotti, this cake is no good for us...well, let's send some to our enemies. A tasty reminder we're still standing.
Note, this bomb's poison proc is not nearly that of the Venom Veiler, but the level of poison is a bit stronger.

5* Sword: Normal.
Brandish that sends out rainbow bursts of icing and a few sprinkles - This sword is no reskin. It's a 5* brandish that deals pure normal type damage. It has a tiny creepcake face on the hilt. Let's linearize this cake and send some...forcefully...to our enemies. WHY DIDN'T YOU INVITE ME TO YOUR PARTY?

5* Gun: Piercing/Stun
Gun that shoots sprinkles. Basically, a recolor of Blitz Needle. WOW, these sprinkles are sharp enough to be creep cake teeth! Biscotti what did you do!?!? The mouth of this gun could easily be a cupcake cup/liner - you know that paper that holds cupcake butts. Deals reduced damage compared to blitz, but has a decent chance of inflicting stun and has a bit more knockback. Absolutely STUNNING work, Biscotti. You literal chef you.

5* Shield: Shadow/Pierce, + Fire Resistance. Innate DMG bonus vs Slimes: Low.
Similar to celestial shield, but not so much health.
Why fire resist? some creepcakes can inflict fire. With their candles. But they deal normal/elemental damage! So why have the shield be shadow? To defend against darker matters in the future. Who knows what Biscotti will do with that purple stuff. Why pierce? Creepcakes are basically slimes.

This is the plate that the cake sat on. It's still shedding some sprinkles and icing. I shall defend my full stomach! Interestingly, shield bashing small creepcakes with this OHKOs them. Perhaps they are too sad to fight, because maybe you're tough enough to not only defeat, but also eat, their brethren.

Biscotti stop making horribly violent edibles! At least we can use these in tasty combat - Something Feron might say.

According to the Umbra Driver, purple is not a color on the visible spectrum.

I don't really care for the weapons, but the furniture! I would love some snipe balloons and skylark models (within a reasonable price/rate of course :P)

Also +9001 for the clown nose.

Honk :o)

Let's see. The first impression I had was very good. I looked over it again. However, I'm against all the weapons and shield:

- +1 to all the furniture.
- +1 to all the accessories.
- +1 to the SoL event, if bound.
- -1 to the Poison/Piercing thing. The impression is that is has fuse time and CTR equal to a DBB, and inflicts poison, so it's better for PvE in groups since people often knock monsters away from your mist bombs, and this would essentially be a faster version of that.
- -1 to the sword. Brandishes are already overpowered. What, now they equally kill everything? Besides, Acheron against Undead is already about the same damage as a Normal Brandish would be.
- -1 to the gun. Stun is incredibly deadly. As Dibsville once said to me, there's a reason why the weapons that inflict stun are either hard to get (Stagger) or have their damage being 'nerfed to oblivion' compared to other stuff (Shield Bash, Sudu). Besides, a Blitz is already overpowered, and one of the main drawback of it is the exposure to enemy attacks. Now enemies would move a lot slower thanks to stun and be a lot more vulnerable. No thanks.
- -1 to the shield suggestion, not because I dislike the mechanics, but because of its lack of attainability. I don't really like those weapons with otherwise unobtainable stats, due to some people being unable to get on SK during those times.

Behold, the evil squares take over the world!

Maybe when the anniversity comes, (the real anniversity, not the time of the event) confetti should rain over Haven for the day

Added and Clarification @Sandwich-Potato

Added scaled model of skylark engine to furniture ideas, which one can view in the lab normally.

Now, on to comments on comments:

*_* Love it when an idea is loved! Thanks! I'll be sure to let the people who contribute in-game (to my lists) know how much people in the forums like their ideas.

That "-+" stuff confused me. At first I thought that meant neutral and very negative, then I realized Sandwich was using the first "-" as a bullet menu. Oh silly me. But don't do that. :(.

To clarify for casual form readers, I believe that Sandwich's weapon concerns could be more directed at mechanics in the PvP lockdown environment. This is a sensitive issue for many players who have invested a lot of time/money into UVs that cater specifically to idealized weapons in lockdown (ones that can deal with the intelligence of a real person vs. the AI of enemies), so "new weapons" are often a very delicate debate. One that I want to avoid in this thread.

Even so, I'd like to clarify some other points:

A funny thing I find to be contradictory: players scream for new content, but despise pretty much any new weapon. Personally, I was amazed at how quickly the Obsidian Edge became a staple weapon. Amazed, but not surprised.

Designing new weapons is fun, and mostly done for fun. It's important to consider all environments, and as a commenter, to make sure you're not just repeating something the poster already said. If all goes well, the poster should clarify if needed. If my words seem in any way aggressive, apologies, this is not my intent.

In the PvE environment, there are different combat scenarios - this includes, pretty much all of the time, the use of shields. With the shield bash, which the poster mentioned, stun and knockback are just default things a player can inflict with any shield in the game, making the condition combo extremely common. Standing still with a blitz-style charge weapon (even with CTR max) makes you pretty much as vulnerable as when using a shield bash, so I'm not sure what the issue is here. The tradeoff between using this gun vs. a shield bash is a functioning shield, but an occupied weapon slot, basically.

I believe that I emphasized reduced damage for these weapons, since the obvious sacrifice is obtaining powerful status proc. So the poster is repeating what I've said already :(. Oh, I forgot to mention it on the brandish (though it lacks stun, harhar).

I desire to make MORE shields in the game with shadow/piercing, so the "lack of attainability" issue becomes less...of an issue. Why not suggest that a new shadow/pierce shield become a HoH recipe instead? That would more readily solve this poster's concern about the shields. Perhaps a branch of the Drake Scale Shield line, a suggestion I have seen before - would go well with Radiant Silvermail. The player community desire for this is extremely strong, and I believe the celestial shield is a sign of things to come. Note to OOO - give one of the shadow/pierce shield lines you might make freeze resist plx, so I can has perfect shield for Heart of Ice yis okay thx.

Oh fiddlesticks. If we really just want reskins...below item ideas have IDENTICAL stats to the relevant items, disregard mechanics details on "new" weapons described in above ideas for this. Chose different items based on the tendency of creepcakes to inflict FIRE status, but also my idea of razor sharp sprinkles:

The bomb: reskin craft of the dark briar barrage. We've seen modifications to boss-line weapons before, with the Obsidian Carbine. Though that was a new weapon, not just a reskin.

The Sword: reskin of the Combuster. fire damage. Rainbow bursts. YAY. (Though a rainbow often shows up during/after a storm, which would be shock...ugh! Choices!)

The gun: pepperbox or blitz. Either one. Fire/razor sharp sprinkles.

The shield: dragon scale or aegis, either one. Fire or just a solid shield.

OH also added: request for return of firework usable.
