A couple of my stupid guildies said they only found books in the mission Alone in the Dark, but I've been running Weight of Darkness on normal difficulty trying to find one. I'd be interested to know if anybody here has found a book doing this mission, and on normal difficulty (might effect the loot drop table).
Where did you find your book(s) and on which difficulty setting?
I found my books last January. One in Depth 19, the other on Depth 24. Because difficulties didn't exist back then, that would suggest either Advanced or Elite is the way to go, but Normal seems to have the same odds as anything else (because they're so vog-forsaken rare.)
I'm trying to get one via Weight of Darkness on Elite.

I don't think the "where" matters when it's all in the hands of the RNG. It's all chance. Last year I knew someone who came across not one, but two Books. Then there's people who find none.
Well if the chance is equal among any black kat then I want to increase my chances by running the easiest possible mission. However, if the book is listed in the drop table like a regular 5* mat then perhaps it's better to farm at lower depths on elite.
Last night, I made my "Fix Black Kats" petition. After moderating it for half an hour, I go to Alone in the Dark on elite, get three black kats in the same level and one drops a book.
Complaining works so damn well.
I did 2 hours of AitD farming and i gooot 2 damn BKs.
Complaining doesn't work for me.
I got one last year here: Book of dark rituals drop. I don't remember which level it was, but you can see, it was depth 26.
Candlestick Keep: Burning Blackout. Probably the one from "Bad Luck and Brimstone".
I got my book drop last night during WoD, so farm on good sir, farm on. It was on elite, but in WoD, there's no difference.

I did over 150 runs spammed AitD / WoD on Elite and I barely find 1 BK in 6-8 runs.
This is goin' horribly wrong.

There is a difference, BK spawn rates are higher on elite, also I highly doubt the book will drop on normal, rather than wasting your odds on normal just speedrun on elite, it doesn't make that much of a difference in time or difficulty when you're crazy rushing through anyways.
I found two books last august, farming can be very tiring sometimes.
I believe I found mine while running solo in Alone in the Dark on Elite.
Although it was way back the very first time this event was around (thus before difficulty settings existed), depth 19, Weight of Darkness. First and only book I've ever found.
Found one during the first event from a random Black Kat that spawned in the prestige mission.

My friend found two books at Weight of Darkness (Depth 19). He found one during the first event (during the energy elevator system with no difficult implemented yet) and he found one yesterday with a party of 4 at Weight of Darkness (Depth 19 Elite).
I have another friend who found a book at Weight of Darkness (Elite Last Year) again and yet another who found one in Alone in the Dark (Elite Last Year).
You just gotta keep on "grinding kats". I shall find a book one day!
No difference where as long as it has Kats... I did find mines in Alone in Darkness(e), but you can find them in Weight of Darkness as well.
'Alone in the Dark' mission. Not that difficulty was a thing back then, but I'd run Elite.
Not that I ever run anything below that, but hey. Should difficulty somehow factor into the drop-rate then running on Advanced should put you at the same odds as before.
30 seconds ago while speedrunning the first level of "That Mold and Black Magic" (Found 6 BK since the start of the event). I feel special QwQ

I just got one 2 mins ago xD lol I have no idea I remember being very depressed after a WoD run and moping in haven then I was browsing through my inventory and I was like AAHMMERGAWSH! I haz a bewk! but I hadn't known when I got it so it might have been alone in the dark or WoD
EDIT! GUYS I found another book 2 minutes after I finished the margrel fight... this time I KNOW it was WoD xD I gave it to a friend who was farming with me but still ... dats pretty lucky
Found mine first depth of prestige mission 2 days ago, it was about my 8th run

I found my book 1 year ago in the arcade (before there was difficulty) at a depth 24 Candlestick Keep.
Technically that could mean the book could drop in advanced or elite difficulty.
