See I can't even complain
See I can't even complain about the book drop rate because I'm finding a BK only once e very 1.5 - 2 hours of doing Alone in the dark. I have to beat the first RNG to even worry about the second RNG. There is no way for me to reach the 750 token mark before the end of this event.

I can't even fathom how this is ok for some.
"Playing more" isn't always going to solve it. Who says it wouldn't take another 20+ hours?
I'm hoping that OOO increases spawn rate mid event. Like last year, (or the year before? I dunno)
In the end RNG is a terrible, terrible swear word.

I've been on for every black kat event, and spammed it like there is no tomarrow. people find books in their 1st couple kats!!! i cant find a single book and this time, i cant find kats to kill either!!!!

My first run was joining a friend during her prestige mission, and we found 3 spawned black kats before the end of the stage.
Today, I did 8 runs with one person and found 2 black kats.
I switched to making 4-man public rooms.
3 runs
3 black kats.

I just can't figure out how people find so many BKs in such a short amount of time. Over 10 hours of speed runs and I've only seen 5 BKs. I won't be able to get a mask, much less the book at this rate....

I'm sure it's just the RNG, Dr-Charizard; but you're not alone. I played basically all day (speedrunning WoD and AotD first levels) and found one single black kat. (And one love puppy :))
A nice way of handling RNG-based grindy events like this would be, keep the random spawn rate as it is -- 1% chance for a BK in place of a normal kat or whatever -- and additionally, have a guaranteed spawn every 200-or-something kats. But maybe that's just too logical, too clever, or too fair ...

34/117 = 29% of runs. So I found a BK between every 3rd and every 4th run (on average).
Those 14 straight "No BK" runs at the end there almost killed me.
Total pages found = 429
Total Book drop chances = 143
Total Books found = 0
Total Mewkats found = 1
Gods, I'm tired of this. I've put in the time, I just want to find my book and call it done.

I got lucky
I was speedrunning "Alone in the dark" with 3-4 ppl and got it on the second depth, my friend too.
So doing those 2 depths really quickly,never solo is the key.
First i did it so many times solo (the first day of the event) and got like no items /mats whatsoever.
When i had 3-4 ppl in party i started getting 3 philo feathers in a row and bunch of good mats, orbs etc and 2 hours later i found the book.

I found it this (3rd) kataklysm after about 500 killed Black Kats during all 3 kataklysms.
EDIT: So you guys shouldn't cry if you find only one or none if you killed less than 100 within (for you) "too many" hours wasted. Mind how long took for me and how many hours even with elevator pass...

It's funny how Three Rings
It's funny how Three Rings expect us all to be lazy unemployed scumbs. Tried hard on farming this weekend, killed 100 kats in a matter of two days (yeah only two days, wasted the whole week-end on SK), of course no books. Now I can't play during the week as much, one hour or two. Which clearly won't be enough to meet the odds. (I heard harsh complaining rises your chances, I hope this will work).

My luck so far
I just wish they would have released this next week or a little later. Most people are going to be busy right now if they are in school, since its around the time people have finals, AP tests, and whatnot. I love how RNG treats some people. Some grind for hours upon hours and find no books at all [like me ._.], while some people do the prestige mission and find a book, or grind for like a whole day and find 3 of them -_____-
Up until now, I have put in probably 30+ hours of grinding Alone in the Dark/Weight of Darkness, and the Black Kat related prestige missions [all both solo and in parties]. I have killed and found:
130+ Black Kats
25+ Eternal orbs, 2,500+ Shining Fire Crystals, and 20+ Sparks of Life
1 equipment drop [Static Edge]
6 Love Puppies
5 Mew Kats
11 Rock Jellies
. . . and 0 Books. . .
While I am thankful for all the rarity drops from treasure boxes, this is . . . well, just simply aggravating. Im gonna avoid Candlestick Keep for quite a while after this event ends.

Guess not...what a surprize !
I was hoping OOO will fix the spawn rates today...guess not. They don't give a crap'bout 0.000001% BK rate.
I found ONE BK in 3 days of grinding. That's wonderful. ( 2-3 hours /day it gets really boring when you find only love puppys and mewkats -.-)
They had a ninja patch for sure. Now it's even worse than before.

An interesting thing that happened:
Second floor of alone int he dark, room with lots of boxes. Two Black kats spawn (lucky me). They spawned in spaced that they couldn't escape. The zombies they spawned got stuck in the same spot and started stacking, causing a rather odd looking effect.
