Look through the Gameplay and Rankings subforum and you will see threads along the lines of "I suck at the game, how do I get better" or "improvement" threads.

It's happening in almost every Massive Multi player online (MMO) game these days and I raise the question, why do you want to improve/get 5 star gear so fast?

Improving one's self can lead to great satisfaction. What I mean about this is looking at what you've struggled with before and comparing it to what you're doing now. People normally want to get better quick due to challenges said game can offer. It's pretty much why we have so many vets and vanguards lingering around everywhere.

And really, that's what It all comes down to. People love a challenge. Fun can be thrown in there too. Granted, no game is meant to be played forever once a person reaches endgame. This is what taking breaks and other games are for.

Gotta collect them all! Spiralmon!

@Blazzberry
...nou... SCP... humanoid thingie... bad.

Collecting may have something to do with it. And people feel good when they get good at a game (though SK isn't that hard to be "good" at). De/Dk Souls would be an actual accomplishment...

Simple.

We wanna be the very best that no one ever was.

But really, when you first joined SK what got your attention?
The badapple gear?
The nice community?
The general cutesie style?
For me, It looked awesome. I've always been one for MMORPGs, so that was a double score.
But why do you wanna get good? Well, the sky's the limit.
At first I thought I'd never make it to Tier 3 and I'd be T2 forever. Strangely, my brain was like "Screw that' we're going to T3". Personally, I just want to get get better because the higher the level, the less limited the wonderful world of SK is.

(Also, cause mah frands were doin it. I'm very competitive and wanted to be...the best)

Awsome-Incarnate post #3:
"when you first joined SK what got your attention?"
"The nice community"

This. I mean, I can understand the complaining of people in PVP (why I prefer Osu! and focus mainly on PVE in this game). The gen. D and New. Rec. Forums are pretty cool (I picked up tips from New. Rec.) Although I never really type in chat (I just type when "The Eclectic (think that's how it's spelled) Order" the guild i'm a part due to random invite, needs something).

Osu! is really competitive (multiplayer lobby, host picks "The quick brown fox--the big black") thumbs up if you know what i'm talking about, but at least the Osu comm. doesn't complain about losing. XD no offence to the spiral knights comm.

Improvement comes slowly for some and extremely fast others. This differs from game to game. Well I guess the cute artstyle got me too XD

Why do I want to be the best?

Because as a child, there is a certain song that still lingers in my memory.

I wanna be the very best.
That no one ever was.
To catch them is my real test.
To train them is my cause.

You could parody this with the Martial Arts system. Do you want someone to just instantly give you your blackbelt if you ask for it? or would you rather earn it?

So I don't feel useless and feel more like I actually can contribute to the team in beneficial ways.

Bluefloood, maybe what people can do is maybe set small goals for themselves. Sure they maybe tough to achieve, but with practice and mastering mechanics whether they are simple or complex, you would be surprised. Rather than "begging".

Ex. Getting through a t3 deconstruction zone on Elite (solo), not taking damage in a random t2 gate, or just learning how to alch switch, "spacing" and knowing when is the right time to attack.
