By doing the wrong trade, I am leaving this game

I recently did a trade with a player name Blitz-Krieg(Clockwork Elites). I did wrong trade. Instead of trading CE to CR, he traded me CE with CE. Needless to say I lost a lot. I tried to resolve this peacefully with Blitz-Krieg. No use. I tried to contact GM. Don’t know how. I tried to file a complain and it kind drove me crazy. Instead of file a complain. All you get is the “fine print” to explain you why GM can’t do a thing about it.

Here is text about filing complain about wrong trade:

“Sometimes we make a mistake when trading with players. This happens to all of us.
But Game Master can’t know what the agreement with the trade was. One player could claim this wasn’t what was agreed on, while the other could claim it was. And we can’t just blindly pick a side. So we have to rely on players double checking what they’re trading before they click to confirm.
So if you just made a trade you didn’t really mean to. Then I’m afraid Game Masters won’t be able to assist you. Instead you’ll want to talk to the other player and see if the player is nice enough to reverse the trade.
Also remember never to trade anything away “as a loan” unless you are OK with this player not returning the item. Game masters won’t be able to recover it for you.”

I will admit it was my fault to not see the final transaction clearly. I took the pictures of our trade chatting but after reading the above, I think it’s the last draw to push me of quitting this game.

I am not too happy about recent path change. It made more players to beg. I constantly get tons of trade or friend request from player that I don’t know. They all want to get something free from me. Yes, it is a sin that you are wearing 5 star gear in this game.

With the raising price of energy, I had enough. The recent patch did not bring any cost down. It just made game harder to play. I don’t like jack to other player’s game but it is the best way to make sure you have a profitable run. I know this is kind off-topic but I think I have enough about pressing wrong buttons in this game. I want to play the game more relaxing, not to think twice about every button that I suppose to click.

As for player like Blitz-Krieg, I have no doubt there will be more. And I don’t think Three Ring will care. They really don’t offer effective way to solve complain of this game.

Hmn...

I'm not certain about Spiral Knights, but other three rings games attach the recent chatlog to any complaint or bug report, so a formal /complain will give solid evidence to the GMs to base any corrective action on. OTOH, there's also a general principle that you should make sure that what is in the trade window is correct.

Anyway, no one trade is the end of the world even if it is a painful loss. Once you have 100 ME again you're good to go back to advancing your position.

I don't quite understand your problem, doing runs is as it been all the time, the CR energy market price didn't grow too much - energy gates, revives, elevator fees, all those run related costs are the same as they were. Don't make up issues that don't exist. In need of crowns? Sell the excess amount of materials instead of hoarding them, then you'll surely make 5-8k per tier run (which will cost you 70 energy).

yeah, it was sarcasm

I assumed that was clear. I was a little surprised that no one seems to be saying he clearly got taken advantage of, and if I were the other guy, I'd feel pretty bad. Bad enough to in fact not walk away with this poor saps stuff. This isn't getting a ridiculous price for a piece of questionable gear, if the story is true as described it's pretty cut and dry that the expected transaction did not happen as planned.

Well, I am in bad mood

Well, I am in bad mood because of wrong trade. I tried to complain all the things that I don’t like about this game. It’s just my way to express. Yes, it is very stupid of me and I am sure Blitz-Krieg is laughing now because even with good proof that he cheated me of a trade. I can’t contact GM or send my proof to the GM. Like I said, the complain system of this game made me crazy.

“Your complaint has been sent, thank you for helping us keep the game an enjoyable environment.
We read through all complaints filed, but we do not report back to you on what happens with each complaint. And we may not be able to look over your complaint right away, but rest assured they are all read and handled according to our polices.”

"we do not report back to you on what happens with each complaint"!?

I can understand the limited human resource from three ring, but I can’t play a game that tell you in advance that they will do nothing or they can not responding your complaint. Even with a legitimate complaint, the system can casting aside your complain or failed to receive all the information of complaint. To me, that’s fatal flaw.

I can proof that Blitz-Krieg intentionally break our trading agreement. I can proof that Blitz-Krieg know what trade is suppose to be and accidently or intentionally try to cheat me of trade. So what. The complain system can’t take that much of information and there is no way to know GM is aware of your complain or not.

Allow me to give you another example. Suppose you press wrong button for buying a recipe from the Action house. Instead of paying 32,500 for a recipe, you paid 325,000 for it. How do you complain about such action or a way to resolve the problem?

Sorry, I meant that as a

Sorry, I meant that as a possible explanation for Patito doing "extremely polite and decent things" despite being "cold hearted." Being compelled to be "nice" because you could end up in jail is different than really wanting to be honest for the sake of it. My comment wasn't really related to OP's issue.

As for the original poster, he made a mistake. In any kind of informal exchange, there is the understanding that the deal could go wrong. Player to player trades have always been plagued by a lack of common courtesy, and players should understand that there really isn't a whole lot a GM can do: even when presented with a chat log, one or both parties could still make false claims about it.

xbigbobx may not have understood all the risks involved in player to player trades, and he was taken advantage of. It happens. If he had used the Energy Exchange, this would not have happened. He said he was leaving because this bad trade was essentially the straw that broke the camel's back; good luck to him, I hope he finds a game that is fun for him. I think this game is still fun, I don't have issues with trades, I'm going to continue playing but I will remember to avoid the guy that screwed him over.

TL;DR:
OP made a mistake, we should all learn from it.

Every game I've played with

Every game I've played with trading either has that clause or it eventually has it. This doesn't mean OOO will not doing anything for you, but they say it outright that you're responsible for your poor actions. This keeps the blame and the responsibility to fix your problem off their shoulders, or else they'd be getting a hundred trade complaints a day. However, you should still submit a report, along with your screenshots, etc. OOO will probably help you, but only if you have enough drive to help yourself. If you can't find where to go to get support, then you don't care enough to get your CE back and don't deserve to complain.

People are jerks? yea, your a good example of that-

he never asked for compensation he was just trying to solve this mistake and once he find out there was nothing he could do, he gave up, he didnt keep on complaining, he didnt push the problem any further all he did was share his bad experience so hopefully us wouldnt make the same mistake, us that still hold some hope for this game (which keeps on getting worst with every update) wont leave it.

Huh?

btw there is no actual definition for what a troll is, since its something internet born it means a lot of things, so yea u look like a troll to me and an ignorant...and a jerk ofc.

Since originally 'troll' comes from 'someone who trolls' - (taken as a fishing metaphor from 'trolling for .. ') for posting controversial or inflammatory comments where many people will see it in an attempt to create an uproar or flame war. So then, a troll is someone who does such a thing. Some people would like to say that a 'real troll' is only someone who pretends to controversial opinions and doesn't actually hold them, but that's a fairly useless notion since we can't know what another person's opinion truly is in their heart of hearts.

In any case, posting a snarky comment to one person might be -flamebaiting- (trying to get a rise out of one particular person, not the world in general), but it's certainly not -trolling-.

A more detailed definition is here: http://jargonwiki.com/wiki/Troll

Just because it started on the internet doesn't mean it doesn't have a definition.

That sucks. It happened to

That sucks. It happened to me also but it was a petty amount so I let it slide. Now if it was a big amount, well, that would be a different matter.

In "real" life this would not slide at all. The person would be in a big altercation and the >>authorities<< called or someone would get stabbed/shot. In this case OOO is the ruler of the land and should have the power to help you out. Even if it was a mistake by the OP, normally there would be some way to get it back. Many games have ways to resolve these kinds of issues with helpful GMs on a ticketing system that can access the backend. What's the purpose of GM if not to help players out.

Hopefully you can get someone to help you (and if you got screen shots). Keep at it and see where it leads. And if all fails...

You can come to a conclusion that:
Sloppy design with no logs, tracking, or they just don't give a sh** (they cut corners on personnel until they really need it; here's looking at you PR). Either way, good luck elsewhere. Plenty of other F2P games to play.

hell even this is trolling 3. http://artoftrolling.memebase.com/

and of course 4. http://skepacabra.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/do-not-feed-the-troll.png

his original post was this
"I was an idiot. I should be compensated for my idiocy!

Yes... Yes... I agree, sir."

so this person falls into this category

quote-
"1c. Noun
A member of an internet forum who continually harangues and harasses others. Someone with nothing worthwhile to add to a certain conversation, but rather continually threadjacks or changes the subject, as well as thinks every member of the forum is talking about them and only them. Trolls often go by multiple names to circumvent getting banned."

from the second link in this post.

hes clearly using the straw man fallacy since he is distorting the actual position in which xbigbobx is, he is not asking for compensation he was just trying to solve his problem, there was nothing he could do, the end. Replicant flat out call him an idiot when its clear that xbigbobx merely made a simple mistake (which could happen to any1 since we are all humans)

keeping this in mind u could say that i am a troll since now the original topic of this thread has completely changed. so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! im a troll and i just did my job today.

btw @Replicant i was trolling since 2 posts ago, since you dont quite rise and argument backed up with any kind of actual information your just no material for debate so i just reduced that to a troll discussion

oh and another thing, getting under my use of language is stupid since english is not my first language and thus im bound to make a mistake or two (lol) i would like to see you debate on a spanish or french forum see how u do there.

-google ftw-

EDIT: after actually going tru the definition that Senshi provided i found something interesting

"1; regularly posts specious arguments, flames or personal attacks to a newsgroup, discussion list, or in email for no other purpose than to annoy someone or disrupt a discussion. Trolls are recognizable by the fact that they have no real interest in learning about the topic at hand"

note "personal attacks, for no other reason than to annoy someone or disrupt a discussion."

there you go... you should read what you provide before posting it, it could come back to hit you on the rear.

actually, there is a log. you can go to MY ACCOUNT, (in the upper right of the forum page, by support and languages) go to "BUY ENERGY" There is a large button called "ENERGY HISTORY" that will allow you to view any energy transactions you have had.... buying energy, selling energy, trading energy, crafting using energy, all of it. It will tell you if you traded it, sent it in the mail, whatever. It will tell you who you did all of this with, should another party be involved in any way.

So... there are logs, there is a tracking system (of sorts) and therefore, they must give a sh**.

You can't. No one broke the rules. You made a mistake, you tried to work it out with the other party and they took advantage of your mistake. You'd hope that people would see the mistake and correct it themselves, but frankly this is the Internet. It's made people basically unaccountable for their actions. Unless they have their own self-governing morals to guide them you can't expect anything different.

Also the disclaimer is there to tell you that they aren't going to do anything about your problem. It's there to set reasonable expectations of a response. Of course everyone would like the gorey details of the outcome of every complaint. We all want to see that d-bag go down in flames, but in reality that just can't happen. For one the other person deserves as much privacy as you do and OOO has in game mechanisms from preventing what happened already. You're asking for them to reverse potentially hundreds of transactions since the report. So if that person has already spent all your energy on crafting should they then also revoke all those items? What if they already sold some of the crafted items to other people?

This situation sucks, but in reality there is nothing that OOO should be obligated to do other than what they've already done, which is provide a safe environment that has mechanisms in place to protect people. Which they do...
