but before i do i have a questions:
1. will my achievements appear on steam (from before)
2.will the time bind (i don't care for this one)
i'm gonna bind my sk account (steam)
You already have a thread on the front page of General Discussion about converting your account to Steam:
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/103581
Please just continue your old thread, rather than starting a second thread on the same topic.
Binding it to steam has zero downsides and one pretty huge upside: it's the only way you can Voice Chat.
One downside actually: If Steam servers are down, you can't play. It's rare situation, but still happens from time to time.
Your playtime on your character stays, but it doesn't transfer overall to Steam. My knight has ~60 days of playtime but my time on Steam is a bit lower than that, since I bound my account like.. a year and a half ago? Something like that.
Don't D: Steam is known for its constant [endless amount of problems], just don't do it D:
Cool Fact #333: This forum account is my old SK account...which I merged with Steam...not quite sure how it still works XD
Batabii, voice chat programs
I heard you could buy energy and downloadable content (DLC) off of steam, but that just a rumor /sarcasm
1. Too many different ones, and they're not cross-compatible
2. Yet another pointless program to eat up memory and waste time installing when the game already has its own built in voice chat
3. steam already has tons of awesome games, one of which being spiral knights itself
4. I bought OCH for $1.48 on sale a long time before you could buy it with energy.
as for xxpapaya I have no idea what "constant problems" you're talking about. Refusing to use steam due to service outages is like refusing to use electricity due to power outages.
Fun fact: all three of us (Batabii, Xxpapaya, and I) are all on steam
Question: When steam installs games, what else does it install (if any) because I got a softOSD [service]
Personally, I use Steam without too much of an issue. Granted, the times Steam is out and I really want to get onto Spiral Knights is annoying, but it's not the end of the world.
It's also fun to eavesdrop on people who actually use the voicechat function. I've had several friends not know they had their mic on until we were at the core and I let them know.
I know I know, I'm weird. I like listening to people just be themselves sometimes >.>
1. I think they will
2. I don't think that's how steam works
NOTE: I wouldn't suggest binding it to steam, there are a lot of problems that come with it.
